Anyone who wants to TRY almost any cookbook, try your local library!! Mine has a ton of vegan cookbooks and I can request for them to purchase any book they don't already have! Seriously, it's awesome! We have tried MANY and then I purchase my favorites!
Katrina's book has a unique aspect with the exercise/athlete slant. That Jamaican ginger drink sounds really delicious! I would have made turmeric quinoa to go with your orange tofu; maybe try that next time and see what you think. ETA: I love that you've taught your kids to use chopsticks!
If you are interested in cookbooks by vegan athletes, you may wish to consider “Eat & Run, My Unlikely Journey to Ultramarathon Greatness” by Scott Jurek.

I'm happy to see sink is getting it's fair amount of screen time, always happy to see that as an important member of the PB with J family it isn't being left out. On a side note we need to name sink!
Another awesome video and review of Karina's vegan cookbook. I don't have an issue with Jeremy adapting the recipes because that's what I do with recipes. Love 🥰 the video and love ❤ Jeremy & family.
Love these cookbook reviews!!!! I thought you said "our imaginary kids won't like this" but had to relisten and you said "I imagine our kids won't like this"😂😂
Hey Linda - we avoid having it more than once a week at this point. Likely will cut it out completely. It's fairly recent that the WFPB changed their stance on it, so we're all playing catch up. My wife works at a school so using cashews or another nut in replacement doesn't allow her to take leftoevers - but to your point - we're working on eliminating it - thanks for asking!
@misswellness9595I think you are the one missing the point here 😊 The main concern is the -fat content- in coconut milk (and some will point out that it’s not a *whole food + the *way it’s manufactured/produced (again,- fat is the main concern) It’s in the same category as oil, and the most “extreme” within the WFPB community have always avoided coconut milk. It has zero nutritional value other then its high fat content makes it highly palatable. So I find the comment quite relevant considering the most of us are WFPB here, and not vegan ☺️ Someone recommended coconut extract in soy milk as an option, but I haven’t tried it yet. I guess you can compare it with veggie stock instead of oil or butter when cooking 😅 Your brain will know the difference, though 🥲
I think elimination of coconut milk means you are potentially eliminating a fat source and that it would be better to use low fat coconut milk or have it in moderation because fat helps the body benefit more from the vitamins & minerals. Elimination of coconut milk makes the vegan diet look too extreme (as non vegans or anti vegans would say).
@@davidthescottishvegan I’m not disagreeing with the extreme part, but the claim about fat isn’t right,- considering coconut milk is high in *saturated fat. Your brain and body needs some fat (omega 3 from algae, some nuts and seeds and you are covered 🙃) I’m a scientist not a politician, and I eat too manage my illnesses, and don’t push my eating habits on others. So no judgement here at all ❤️
The thing with sesame oil is that the flavor is so strong. In lots of dishes you can probably get away with adding 1 Tsp and subbing the rest for something healthier. Personally I don’t really want to sweat 40 calories spread throughout multiple servings.
UPDATE: Here are the ingredients to the lily’s dark chocolate: unsweetened chocolate, erythritol, chicory root fiber, sunflower lecithin, vanilla extract, stevia extract. But, there are processed on equipment that also processes milk. That is the only reason that they cannot be labeled vegan. 😢. But they are gluten free, and they don’t spike my blood sugar. ❤
It's totally off subject. Since you like to create recipes, that have oil and change them a little. I was wondering if you could make carob chips with no oil? Or chocolate chips with no oil. Preference to carob. I can't have chocolate 😢. Is it even possible? And I loved the video. Hope Annie is feeling better. ❤ Take care
Hi Jeremy, I saw an interesting vegan cookbook that is a bit different. It’s called Seed to Plate, Soil to Sky by Lois Ellen Frank. Uses oil but that’s easy enough to sub-out. Has a baked “fry” bread recipe. But hey, hoping you’ll try it first, so I don’t have too! Lol! Thanks for your great content ❤
ohhh - so I'm your personal recipe tester now?!?! FINE! ... I accept! ( I mean this looks really cool and unique.... this might have jumped to the top of our list.... )
We’re binge watching “The Great British Bake Off” and wishing someone would WFPB up their recipes-so drool worthy but not plant based or remotely healthy 😢
Yum! Gonna check this one out. Would love a review of one of Jeffrey Eisner’s instant pot cookbooks. But, only recipes that aren’t already vegetarian/vegan. I have been given the books and want to figure out how to modify recipes in the books. Thanks! Jess from Waterloo Iowa
Jeremy, I have a request for you, and if you can’t do my request, could you please answer your honest opinion here then. My request is for you to talk about this - I’m going copy and paste here what I asked someone else, but I didn’t receive an answer. I trust you and have a lot of respect for you, and if you don’t want to make a video about it, could you please share your thoughts on this? “I watched this morning the video that you uploaded yesterday, and you are absolutely right! I am really impressed with people who eat animal foods because they look AMAZING! I mean I have always eaten animal foods, my entire life. @@pbwithjeremy my question is about why vegans look so old. I have always eaten animals and their products. I am 51 years old but I look way younger than that. Could you please make a video about why vegans and WFPB people look so much older than their age?
Now I understand. Honestly - this is the first I've ever heard of this - honestly I think it' usually the opposite - that people who eat clean tend to have a healthier youthful look. I'm 92!!! (kidding) I also think it's just the nature of life. If you're talking about a Vegan that's middle aged or older that didn't always eat this way it just be that what you're seeing is the reflection of their old life. I myself have a lot of extra skin in parts of my body that certainly don't make me look like I'm in as good of shape as I am. I think this might be a coincidence for whatever people you're thinking about - I don't see a common throughline between this and all vegans.
@@pbwithjeremy I agree that people who eat clean look younger. When I started to hear about vegans it was through the raw vegan community, and many of them were living by the beach and spending a lot of time in the sun. I asked Chef AJ why she looks so radiant and young, and she mentioned that she protects herself from the sun, so that makes sense.

They've been using chopsticks as long as they've been using forks, so it's second nature to them :)

I often swap some tahini and a little extra water for sesame oil in dressings and sauces.
If I ate that many recipes with peanut butter and chocolate, I’d gain weight big time! Looks good though.😊

Also, both of the kids yellin that the soup was hot was so funny!

Annie has recovered thank you!
Can you have cocoa butter? If so give this a whirl: stiviwonders.com/unsweetened-carob-chips/
Love tahini but I use it sparingly, which is okay because it is so strong.
Some brands are very strong and earthy, others less so - maybe try a different brand if you're not loving it
Sesame oil can be swapped with tahini but it will make the appearance muddier.
I just add less of it-like 1-2 tsps instead of tbsp’s because as you mentioned the flavour is unique and irreplaceable in some Asian recipes.
In my opinion, it's the zest of the lime that is making it bitter
I think you're right
Great meals this week!
Love it!!
