His character was one of the reasons season 1 was so good. The side characters in the Sopranos early seasons were brilliant. Richie Aprile is another top class actor and character.

Most badass cop in the Sopranos. Makes a one hour drive to the retirement community of the mobsters mother. Takes a piss in the bushes right in front of him and then demands to take some of his food with unwashed hands. You can see Tony doesnt want him to touch his food. He knows Tony doesnt want him to touch his food. Doesnt care, touches everything anyways. Thats a power move if I ever saw one. Absolute legend.
Nonsense. Where do you people come up with this. He wasn't doing any power moves he was a degenerate. If Tony hadn't wanted him to have one he wouldn't have had one, it was more like out of pity. Power move lol.

💯 ***REAL fucking TALK*** 💯
What is that, Yiddish?
@@chadmichael03 Armenian, I believe
John Herd is such a good actor. He nails his character of a long serving detective that's flawed, disallusioned with his Oath, and struggles with his vices. He's not over the top, and he sets up the scenes for Gandolfini. He was also excellent in 187 w/ Samuel L Jackson
And the blinding hangovers just ooze off the screen.
I agree, They should’ve used him more on the shine show
he also played in prison break as governor tancredi
Borko: "Why you got to talk to me like this? I do a lot of risky s*** for you."
Commentors: "I'm sorry. He- Hey Borko. How you doin'? What new vidoes you got for me?"
Tony only realized once it was too late that Vin was not only a loyal, valued asset to have around, but also one of the few people he knew that genuinly wanted to be his friend. Even though Tony made the mistake of heavily berating the guy, you can tell based off their interactions that there was a geuine friendship starting there. I think Tony found the depression and stressful personal life relatable and was sad that he wasn’t nicer to him.
I think Tony saw him as a useful loser, the fact that he was introduced as taking a wiz outside in a retirement community in a wrinkled suit really demonstrates that.
@@weirdnomad8868wrong!! It was originally supposed to send that vibe, only for later on the fans to see that he was just a nice guy who fell into a major depression and downward spiral after his wife took the kids and divorced him. It was genius because it makes us all realize we have been “Vin” or at least known one at some point or another. Poor guy was probably a straight shooter all around and became so lonely and depressed, that he found joy with a guy like Tony who he knew dam well was going through his own personal battles.
@@weirdnomad8868 shows he’s a cop and can do anything he wants
Never he was a gambling junkie and cop he was like vin said he summend up his life in one messed sentence
@@weirdnomad8868 I don't agree with this at all. You can not have friendship with out some level of respect. Even though Tony benefited from Vin being a disloyal, to the police force, he absolutely despised him for it. To Tony, Vin was a degenerate gambler and a rat, only interested in saving his own skin. Contrast this with Tony's attitude toward Agent Harris- they were actively on opposite sides of the spectrum, but Tony actually respected him for following the rules- even though he might be putting Tony in jail one day.
*Vin is the embodiment of "A man isn't acknowledged until he's dead..."*
Rest in peace james Gandolfini, and John Heard.
Vin Makazian was a really well written character, and it’s a shame they killed him off so early. Rip John Heard, Rip James Gandolfini
Blows my mind that James was thinner than heard in these early scenes. Wish Ganolfini hand't felt the need to bulk up for the character. He got lost in the roll and it contributed to his early death.
Nah. Completely hereditary.
@@melodymakermark what is?
Sorry, I replied to the wrong person. I was referring to James G’s death. When I got diagnosed with coronary issues, I commented to my doctor that if I’d taken better care of myself, I wouldn’t be in this position. His reply was “Nah. Completely hereditary”.
@@melodymakermark The only hereditary thing is the way your body handles being overweight, drug and alcohol abuse. If James got sober and fit he wouldn’t have died
How nice of Tony to give Vin one of his macarons 😅
“You resisting arrest?”
But he wasn’t under arrest though lol
Thats a real good legal ee
I wished they kept this character around longer lol he was fucking gold
Had Tony been a little more appreciative of Vin's efforts, he could probably get more out of him.
Vin was very useful to him. Vin even liked him despite how shitty Tony treated him. But, as junior said, Tony was high handed with everybody.
@@TheGiua1973 Also Vin was a degenerate gambler. He was useful to Tony and nothing else. On top of it he tried to be friends with Tony and T only wanted it professional. He later relaxed a bit with the FBI after they saved his life about Junior.
@@Tkieron well vin might’ve been useful with the legal issues and can maybe maybe spot more rats he was right about pussy

Man, he was a terrific actor. I unironically wish they did more with the character.
If he wouldnt have killed himself he would of told Tony that Melfi was raped and Tony would have secretely killed himself
Sopranos taught me that if you are detective you can beat citizens without going to jail
You don't have to be a detective for that!

he was resisting arrest
Was very common not that long ago. I'm a middle class white guy and I know a few people that have been beaten by cops with no real justification lol.

He does sadly cops have less respect for women them even common gangs like crips- and bloods wise guys had a shit ton of rules just for lady's
The way Makazian says "Bonpensiero," is so satisfying.
$40k a year for a detective? That sounds low, even twenty years ago.
Lol look up the average detective salary in high crime areas.
It is, especially in Jersey.
That’s bullshit in the tri state area it should be at LEAST 80k

John Heard (the actor portraying Detective Vin Makazian) absolutely stole every scene he was in.

Vin's arc was really sad when you find out that he really admired Tony and considered him a friend.
I love this video. So funny the way Tony treats Vin.
The thumbnail capturing Tony’s momentum as he throws the rock is so beautiful Borko. You’re like a great artist, you’ve got a real knack for it.
John Heard was underrated on the Sopranos-great actor

He was a totally different character in the first season.
Whenever someone quotes some law to me I always respond with: "Oh yeah, that's a real good legally!".
It's almost tragic that fanook got a beatdown because of Tony, but the guy who actually r@ped her skipped into the sunset ⛅
He was an arrogant lawyer.
The employee of the month probably got karma or pulled something at some point where he didn't get away Scott free.
Kevin McCallister's dad kicking the shit out of the guy who was already blasted in the face by Crocodile Dundee no less, for being rude to him. Amazing 🤣
It's a shame that they had to go so early both good actors may they rest in peace
It's crazy how they put in the subtle signs of Vin's depression to juxtapose against Tony's depression denial. Really masterful work.
It's so insane that I realize so late that this is the home alone father
