You are completely missing the point of a Rolls Royce. Rolls Royce cars have no "base" model. They provide a super luxury hand built car with a bunch of standard appointments from a short list of body designs that you can add an endless list of customization to. Nobody buys a Rolls Royce just for transport, they buy a Rolls Royce to show people that they can afford to buy a Rolls Royce. For a short while in 1961/63 I worked in the offices of H.J.Mulliner , Rolls-Royce and Bentley coachbuilders in Bedford Park, Chiswick ,in London . They were about the last old time coachbuilders in existence at that time and did only repairs and updating paintjobs etc to Mulliner cars whilst I was there. Of course ,the cars shown in this video were not what we saw, it was the traditional customer who just wanted a really good example of superior car without the fancy bells and whistles. For a leaving present I was given a beautiful needlework box ,superb paintwork, chrome hinges and lined with the best Rolls-Royce headlining, which I still have ,albeit after all these years a bit worn.
Squirrel hair is very good, I use it for watercolour painting. Though kolinsky sable is better (for water colour) . Brushes have to hold the paint / water well , come to a point easily , have just the right stiffness/ vs springiness. Human hair continues to grow so has an abrupt cut end whilst animals have a set length so they have a finer tip. Its probably difficult to get consistent human hair as we tend to be so varied. This guy was prob using an oil based paint, with a long haired 'rigger' brush. It makes painting straight lines easier. They use them to paint the ships rigging in maritime art. I used to work at an old-school sign writers and some of their brushes were around £200-300 each.
Wow, I did not know that. I am going to the Rolls Royce showroom near me tomorrow. I'll take some loose change with me and test various sizes. I'll get back to you....
They mentioned the price at the begining, about £314,000. If you listened to the videos you wouldn't need to ask so many questions. Plus if you removed all the bespoke additions it wouldn't be a Rolls Royce. Why are you watching this? I dont think you get the point. The rich buy this to show they can afford quality, it's bespoke so they have a one off version. That is the point of a Rolls. I thought that was obvious. If you want basic, buy American.
I don't think he meant what the base price is but how much would it cost to make a "base model" RR without any extra luxury options and that is for sure way under £100,000.
There is a lot of showing off with Rolls Royce but under all of that you have the smoothest V12 ever made, perfectly set up (for comfort at least) suspension, an automatic gearbox that anticipates corners and hill almost as well as an experianced manual driver would. Everything about them is set up to be smooth, quiet and effortless. "Perfection is only just acceptable"
@@andrewlaw the old v8 was basically an american Chrysler engine so nothing new there. A friend of mine worked on the early development of the BMW engine lifted from the then 750 il. All very hush hush at the time (they didn't want the press finding out)The RR engineering division ended up completely re-engineering the BMW engine into the RR engine they have today soo... Yes based on the BMW engine but completely re-worked - I hope that helps!
Around 30 years ago, I had the good fortune to experience travelling in a Rolls Royce. It was an absolutely fantastic journey; you feel like you're floating, . Sitting in the back seats you can't hear the engine, you don't feel the bumps as the wheels move over potholes and bumps.. if you ever get the opportunity to travel in a Rolls I guarantee you'll fall in love with the most fabulous car ever..
You really don't understand why someone would buy a Rolls Royce do you! The whole idea is you get what you want, not what everyone else has. Just buy a Ford Focus and be done with it.
Every car is different… one of a kind, that will always increase the value. Plus using the best materials in the process. Hand crafted also increases the price. They didn’t really go in to it in the video but the technology too is just better. And it makes a big difference to whether a man or machine makes a car.
You have to realise, that most of the cost comes from hand built items, the number of cattle hides used to cover one car interior. etc. On top of that there is no basic RR. Every car is built to ONE customers specification. This not a tin bashing, faux Leather/plastic built by the million operation. The car is picked because it can forfill a customers desires, any thing they want, RR cars can produce. Because each car is a ONE off, thats where the cost comes from. They are not building a million cars all the same to keep down costs. As to performance, a RR Phantom weighs just over 2.5 tons, has a V12 Double Turbo Charged 6.7 litre engine,900 Nm Torque with a 8 speed auto gearbox Thats 0-60 in 5secs and a top limited speed of 155mph. Costs from £418,000 to £480,000 ($534,000- $614,000) That depends on customer choices, could even rise much much higher. The thing you would miss most is the noise! A RR car is near silent, even under accelleration and top speed(which is limited!). If you dont want all the extras and the luxury, why not just buy a bashed out tin Ford pickup!!
Connor, you obviously don't appreciate skill, art, quality or craftsmanship so you'll never understand, you'll never get it, so buy yourself a Nissan Versa and be happy.
In a letter in the press years ago, a reader wrote (I paraphrase): "grandfather in France in 1930s with his RR. Broke down. No agent nearby no spare part. RR in Crewe, England, dealt with it all. Back home months later, grandfather still had received no invoice. Wrote to RR to enquire. RR replied that they had no record of such a breakdown or repair (= unwilling to acknowledge that any RR ever breaks down). Lovely.
12:45 I feel like the type of car you are looking for would a Toyota Century. Absolutly awesome luxury car for a very different public than Rolls Royce.
One of the most important features of the Rolls Royce is that you should not be able to hear the sound of the engine. It is not an extra but how all Rolls Royce cars are made.
There’s an old joke but still stands the test of time. A young guy runs into a Rolls Royce dealership and says, sorry mate, I’ve been caught short, can I use your toilet please. The salesman says certainly sir, just through there. A few minutes later the guy comes out and says, thanks mate, I really appreciate that. The salesman smiles and says not at all sir, it’s the first genuine inquiry I’ve had all day.😊
There's a story of a guy who took his RR back for it's first service...the RR guy asked the new owner how things were with the car... 'It's absolutely AMAZING...I'm driving down the motorway at 70 MPH...and the only thing I can hear is the clock ticking'! RR guy...'I'm terribly sorry about that sir...we'll have it replaced for you' ! That's the level of attention to detail you would expect from a RR...and get.
No you are not a downer, but if you removed all the craftsmen and women used to build these cars and all the 'options' you would just have an everyday, assembly line manufactured car and definitely NOT a Rolls Royce. If people have earned the money and have dreamed of owning a RR some day - well, why not. For them there is still a car manufacturer who will hand build their dream.
I wonder if you could possibly suggest how people with so much money that they pay thousands of dollars extra for embroidered butterflys, or fibre optic shooting stars, could possibly spend that money on more worthy causes ?
My son-in-law works for RR at Chichester. He brought one home once and we had a ride in it! He also got a free one provided for their wedding, which picked up the parents from the hotel. The driver was dressed in a tweed suit. They certainly look after their employees. I did a tour on their open day and was told off for taking a photo of one of their engines (still have the photo though).
If you want the best car for your money, that’s perfectly fine. You have many and many more options for your needs. A Rolls Royce is for those who don’t like to buy something everyone has. They want a special car, no matter the price. And no, they don’t always just buy it to show off. Many people buy a customized Roller because they like it and because they feel good that way. It’s like you buying a painting because you find it beautiful and not your neighbors.
You should react to a real road test video for a Rolls Royce, usually the testers start off feeling like you do and then change their minds. Worth a try!
There's a great channel Carwow who has done in depth reviews of Rolls-Royces... He also tests them for 0-60mph and shows the hp and torque of the cars. Maybe go check him out... That red one you liked was the Rolls-Royce Cullinan.... Carwow did a review on that one too. He gives honest reviews and show downsides of the vehicles... not only what is good
I have a Rolls Royce documentary up. That shows them doing the most expensive bespoke car theyd done plus a bunch of behind the scenes stuff in preparation for a big motor show "Inside Rolls Royce - FULL DOCUMENTARY - 2014 HD"
Was that the one with all the diamonds laid in at an exact depth? (some of the trim had to be returned due to diamonds being 1/2mm to high or low). Brilliant documentary. Some will say spending that sort of money is vulgar... I would say it was exemplary craftmanship in a world where it is all too quickly disappearing!🙂
If you ever get the chance to travel in one, take it and you will understand. I’ve travelled in an early 80s Rolls Silver Spirit and one of the last coach built Bentleys from the 00s (both Royces and Bentleys were made at the same factory in Crewe until the 00s). Sadly not my own cars - the Bentley was sent from the hotel to collect me from the airport in Berlin and a friend of a friend owns the classic Royce. Still turns heads. My last 4 cars have been Mercedes and a Daimler, and as lovely as a couple of them have been, they don’t compare to the Royces. I’ve driven Porsche and Range Rovers etc and it’s just a different level. You ponder the cost without the foam tyres, insulation and basic hand stitching but all of that is standard. If you removed it, that would be a customisation. For example, as standard they use specially sourced hides from cattle reared in fields with no barbed wire, to avoid any imperfections in the surface. All of them have umbrellas stored inside the doors (modern ones actually dry the umbrellas too) and you can buy those on eBay if you want a piece of RR for yourself. These cars aren’t flimsy fashion accessories. Half of all of them ever built are still in use, which is impossible to achieve without exceptional mechanical quality. The engine displacements are enormous, not to make a head-turning sound but to make as little as possible while being able to rapidly propel an enormous car that is built with as little regard to weight as to cost.
@8:25 The positions of the stars are always changing relative to the Earth, and are not tied to the current position of a car, so it wouldn't be possible to create an arrangement of embedded fibre optics that replicated that constantly moving pattern. The best you could do would be to choose a specific time and location (say the date and place of your birth) and ask them to copy that.
They are actually expensive for three reasons: luxury, engineering & technological excellence. There are YT channels with good reviews of all the Rolls Royce models delving into technical & under the hood details e.g. 1) Mr JWW Channel - RR Spectre - ua-cam.com/video/hx1v0dY0e2o/v-deo.html OR 2) Carwow Channel - RR Spectre - ua-cam.com/video/ANPKMbm_cvQ/v-deo.html OR 3) Mr JWW Channel- Rolls Royce Phantom II - ua-cam.com/video/x6NqHbfZNTM/v-deo.html 4) Throttle House channel -2024 Rolls-Royce Spectre Review // Why It's Worth $500,000 - ua-cam.com/video/aWSCm3YN_sQ/v-deo.html
It told you right at the beginning the very basic starting prices. Those prices are down to quality, even for the basic option no corners are cut, highest quality materials, all hand made from highly skilled craftsmen and that's where your price comes from. nothing churning them out in their hundreds every day
You're right on track around 11:30, owning a custom RR is a statement of wealth more than anything else. It's not about having style, taste, quality of build or comfort - you can get the last two in the base models, and tbh nobody ever accused "nouveau riches" of having good taste.
The video explains why Rolls-Royce are expensive now, but not how they earned their name. Rolls-Royce have always been the most reliable, high-quality cars. They were quiet, comfortable and dependable. They always used to say the loudest thing in a Rolls was the clock. They were so well made, their customers never needed to come back, and it wasn't sustainable.
A friend/ neighbour dad had one back in the 80s. He was a chauffeur and used to bring it home sometimes. Which was risky as we lived on a council estate 😂 He took us out in it one night, just to the petrol garage, but we felt like royalty 😁
I own a 1990 Bentley Eight; it was built on the Rolls Royce production line, and it matches the Rolls Royce Seraph, only the badges are different; it's just passed its MOT with no advisories and ULEZ Compliant. It's as good now as it was when it was new 34 years ago; it is my daily driver.
The wonder of it is not how expensive they are, but how cheap, considering the levels of engineering, craftsmanship and quality that goes into each car.......
We had a Rolls Royce Bentley dealer near us and they had a recovery vehicle with double backdoors so the Rolls going in for repair it could be hidden from. View.
Hand-made, non-serial production, exotic materials, manhours to make everything match, create patterns, look for patterns, create paints ... Also reseraching and developing engines (they even supply aviation) that are quiet, powerful and reliable. Add up all that (and even stuff I couldn't remember) and see how does it absorbs into selling a single car (even with not much customization).
There is a reason many commercial airliners (Boeing 747, 787 and Airbus A350 comes to mind) has the "RR" logo on every jet engine. RR are renowned for their engines and manufactured the engines for the Spitfire and Lancaster. I believe they also manufacture the nuclear engines for UK subs. Next time you are on a flight - take a peek at the engine cowling and see if you can spot the logo.
11:13 OK. A "Base" Rolls Royce would get you an exquisite vehicle. They are unmatched in their fit and finish. One of their classic tests is putting a pound coin on its edge on top of the engine block, rev it and it won't move. Whilst in the car it is almost complete silence. You can go over a speed bump and not realise it. These cars don't roll 😊 they float.
I think you may be missing the point. Rolls Royce is all about customised vehicles which are all hand built. If someone doesn't want a customised luxury vehicle, they can buy a upmarket BMW or Mercedes instead. They are equally luxurious vehicles but are built on production lines. If you want one of these vehicles to be customised, it usually has to be sent to an independent company specialising in vehicle customisation. That doesn't happen with Rolls Royce. You go to the factory, speak with the designers and order a complete package. Occasionally, you may be lucky enough to visit a dealer that just happens to have a model available for sale - usually a cancelled order. It's unlikely to be, what may be termed, a standard production line vehicle, so its price will be based on the customisations that were originally ordered.
Rolls-Royce are examples of the very best high quality manufacturing and engineering. There is a legend that a RR broke down on the continent (a drive shaft broke) RR sent a team to repair, but when the owner asked for the bill they were told that was impossible as Rolls-Royce cars didn't break down. Not all RRs are customised, but the base car is simply the best. They are still built at their Goodwood plant in England. If rich people wish to embellish them so be it, it is the engineering quality they are renowned for not the fripperies. In the UK the base price for the phantom (the most expensive model) is around £370,000 or around $477,000
There are a hundred videos you could watch that delve into the mechanics and engineering of a Rolls-Royce, if you were really interested. I don't think that most owners care too much about impressing other people, either, but they want that exhilarating rush of satisfaction every time they step inside. They really do it for themselves, because they can.
Rollers, Bentleys, and other such luxurious brands you may have heard of with such prices - are basically built for pure comfort and quietness on the road (made for touring - if you can also afford the fuel costs) . . . Yes, many may be bought as status symbols of old or new wealth, too - i.e, lottery winners, large family inheritances being passed down, new multi-millionaires or billionaires, etc . . . But they are still capable of being 4-5 seaters (with of without a personal driver being used.) . . . Then you also have the Sports cars - McClaren's, Ferrari's, Lamborghini's, Bugatti's, Aston Martins, and so on, which are usually only 2 seaters - or 2+2 at a push, and some of those can easily cost more than a basic RR, etc . . . I mean, you must have heard of Jay Leno over there in the US? And the money that's he's spent on his own car collection is astonishing! No idea how he and others got paid such staggering amounts every year just for being evening to late-night talk show hosts - but they did, and so had to decide what to spend it on after buying their multi-million dollar homes . . .
Hi Connor, sorry for some of the comments below. Yes, some have a point that this brand Rolls Royce, which you viewed, is about the ultimate luxury and quality you will ever find in a car of prestige which makes it a stunning piece of modern art. The huge expense is involved in both material used and add ons as well as labour costs. Thousands of hours are put into the car. I understand you may not appreciate the car now, but in time you will.
as others said ,,,,base prices at the start , my uncle worked for Rolls Royce and they had 6 engines running in the room at the same time and said,,,,,,you could have a conversation with no noise issues
In the course of my 75 years to date, I've been a passenger in (and occasionally driven) a Roller scores of times. This century, I've never seen a Roller that is not bespoke to a smaller or larger degree. So base price sales probably account for under 5 percent of sales today.
5:45 Thats why they cost so much.. No matter what you like, you can have it and it will be top quality If you are using the best materials with some of the best crafters in their respective trades and making all that choice available at all, the cost is going to be high. Add to that the Brand reputation (it was very old fashioned until relativly recently but still was famous) for comfort, smoothness and a ride described as being cloud like. "for the best money"... The point of the modern Rolls is the definition of being "Extra".. No matter what you want, you can have it. (in terms of design and features... not handling or power.. ) Note, these are powerful cars... but they don't nail you in the seat... they effortlessly waft you along at ever increasing speeds.
The Rolls Royce is iconic, because it’s different from all other cars. Simply because of the quality of how they were crafted, instead of being built. Buildings aren’t special, until someone puts some effort into it. Why do we pay to get a tour through a castle or a palace? And not for a tour though a regular home down the street? That’s the same concept with this car. It’s been elevated from being a mode of transport that gets you from point a to point b. Just like a palace is not simply a building to live in. It’s all about the experience.
Since they are so expensive and seen as status symbols for the wealthy, you can near on customise every part of the car. And some people just go crazy. So the price goes through the roof
Not just its luxury but its longevity. I have seen it said that at least 65% of ALL Rollers built are still on the road. I have also seen the percentage put as 75%.
If you ever have the chance to drive one, even the old timers, you’ll know. (I’ve been in the factory… never seen a cleaner place) In the old times one of the cars of mr. Heineken (yes Alfred the owner of the Heineken emporium) had an 8track soundsystem, it was incredibly clear and beautiful while driving. Btw try putting a coin on its side on the hood and then start your car, see if it stays up right..
However, when you buy a £300k+ car for £5-15k...that's great right up until something goes wrong with it and you find out real quick that repairs and maintenance costs are on par with a £300k car. You're not gonna get a set of remoulds fitted for 25 quid each...you're going to be paying probably a couple of grand for a set of tyres...that kind of stuff.
There is no such thing as a base RR with all the features taken away. Now, you don't have to add all the extras RR offers, but the car has multi-layer painting and coatings, the headliner has stars, the trim is all hand stitched leather, real wood trim, and comes with foam filled tires, etc. That is what the car is and how it is made and designed. It would not be a RR if it was simply factory made with regular tires, etc. What you are asking is like asking for an artist to paint your portrait vs. just taking a photograph - the two are like apples and bricks - not the same thing. The RR is one of the quietest and most comfortable cars made today - if you just want a car that rides "well" but is not "flashy" in any way, then you don't want an RR or top end Mercedes. You probably don't even want a Cadillac or a Lincoln - you just want a standard sedan from any one of a number of manufactures - which is fine. And yes, people do buy expensive cars to show off, as it is very hard to buy an expensive car that does not do that. But if a person has the money and wants the best made, luxury car for comfort and a peaceful ride, RR is most likely the best there is.
If you take everything off then it isn't a Rolls Royce. It just becomes a piece of metal with an engine. That engine may be extremely well built but it will be just a car. When Roll Royce have included all of their extremely fine "add-ons" all of which are hand made then you get a car that is a one-off. If you want a car to get you from A to B then go buy the bog standard.
You dont seem to understand it's not just a Rolls Royce it's YOURS there are NO STANDARD ROLLS ROYCE CARS ..... THEY ARE INDIVIDUAL HAND MADE WORKS OF ART .... LOOK AT TWO OIL PAINTINGS THEY ARE NOT THE SAME AND NEVER WILL BE if you want an off the shelf car go to Ford.
Rolls Royce cars are massively expensive and sort after. Not only do they look beautiful and impressive on the exterior, they’ve been known to use Gold and Crystals on the interior. Even the leather used by Rolls-Royce is sourced from bulls rather than cows because cows can develop stretch marks while pregnant. Rolls-Royces are distinguished by their HAND-ASSEMBLED interiors. They’re a luxury brand that rich people pay hundreds of thousands of dollars/pounds to buy. I saw one where the interior roof was a replica of the night sky and all of the stars were diamonds put on by hand - there were thousands of them… Everything is a completely PERSONALISED experience so it’s a one of a kind finish and only YOU have that particular one.. The base (starting) prices are £314,000 for the Ghost up to £450,000 for the Phantom with NO EXTRAS.
Coming from a guy with what looks like an old curtain minus its rail. "How much is that curtain WITHOUT the pine piece of wood going through the rings?"
Everyone who is having a strop about him not hearing and remembering the "base line cost" that's not what he was asking... Listen again to the first time he asked... he wanted to know how much the car with no roller name, but to the same specs without the fancy stuff and personalisation. If another company put a car together in exactly the same way would it cost as much? No of course not. It's like the difference in cost between skoda, audi, volkswagon!

I am I think to young to buy one to (if I even could)
I know it's amazing quality and I know people who have the money can spend it on whatever they like but I find it obscene that people will spend this amount on a car. It's not envy or jealousy I just think there is so much good that these mega rich people could do with their money rather than waste it on status symbols.
The base price was at the begining! And for that you get an extremely well made, good looking, perfect runner car. A car that no one would snub their nose at! You should just concentrate on that and ignore all the rest, as you say those extras are just very rich people bragging about their wealth, not really something most of us are interested in. 👍😊
If you want a vehicle to get you comfortably and efficiently from A to B you don't want a Rolls Royce. If you are concerned about getting good value for money you DEFINITELY don't want a Rolls Royce.
Most Americans will never understand what a Rolls-Royce is about. Unless it has ten noisy exhaust pipes out the back an engine the size of a tank engine and growls like one, it drinks fuel as though it's been in the desert for 5 years and plays Yankee Doodle dandy from 14" speakers mounted in a cheap plastic dashboard it will be seen as a no good car. The American brain just cannot deal with the concept of quality over quantity. I mean, from a country that sees a big mac as a gourmet meal, what else do you expect.
Rolls-Royce's are like a tailored suit they are built to fit you and your preferences. Yes you could buy a Rolls of the shelf but it would not be the same.
The video showed 4 models at the beginning with their base level prices, before any bespoke add-ons.

They sold out, which was sad, but it’s the way of the automotive world.
If you're wanting a car for practical reasons looking in a RR dealership is the wrong place.
For many years, Rolls Royce did not even quote engine power, simply stating that it was "adequate"
The actual phrase was "sufficient sir, sufficient" 🙂
They still don't. It's blabbermouthed reviewers who go on about that stuff.
So nobody has ever dyno tested a rolls? 🤔🤔
They had very little to boast about, it was only just enough for the size and weight of the cars.
@@DenUitvreterThat’s the very definition of “adequate” or “sufficient”, so what’s the problem?
Connor are you just incapable of listening at the beginning of the video they told you what the BASE price of a Rolls Royce is without any of the add ons, and if you don't want a car with all the Rolls Royce touches the buy a bloody TOYOTA

RR cars are also powerful and last for several decades.
At 100mph in a RR the loudest thing is the clock.
Proudly I work for Rolls Royce, in defence, and although RR cars are not Rolls owned anymore its such an amazing brand and heritage.
you can balance a coin on it's edge on the engine block, turn the engine on and the coin won't fall over
Wow, I did not know that. I am going to the Rolls Royce showroom near me tomorrow. I'll take some loose change with me and test various sizes. I'll get back to you....
Put solid engine mounts on any car and it'll do that lol, probably.
Many straight 6's and V12's have done that since before WWII.
But it's BMW engine no how in the present day.
You are the most tedious, boring man on the planet. Won't be watching again.
He's watching to learn. Rollers are iconic after all. He's too young to realise its a mere cock-extension for the rich egotistical crowd.
I don't think he meant what the base price is but how much would it cost to make a "base model" RR without any extra luxury options and that is for sure way under £100,000.
@@virtueofhate1778 That price was the base model. If you mean just a basic car with 4 seats and a decent engine as I said buy a standard American car.

Mate it's crafted not built you need to understand there is no car like a rolls Royce the level of detailing in this car is immense
Problem is it's a BMW engine. It's not the old 6.7 litre V8 they used for decades.
@@andrewlaw the old v8 was basically an american Chrysler engine so nothing new there.
A friend of mine worked on the early development of the BMW engine lifted from the then 750 il. Apparently in its original form it couldn't handle the weight of the RR and had a habit of munching it's own big end bearings (and even throwing cranks).
Conor go to your local RR sales and just ask to sit in one & you will realise why they are so expensive, the hand crafted motor.

Lovely.

Even the baseline model is hand built. If you want function get a BMW 3 series.
Check out the history of RR, just as fascinating.
My Nissan Micra now has an inferiority complex, thanks a lot.
Almost sounds like sour grapes. Anyone at any earning level spoiling themselves on something could have also have maybe found a noble cause.🙈🙊🙉
I mean, it's nice - but it's no Skoda!
And it's no good for ram-raiding, either: a suitably-adapted Volvo is still the vehicle of choice in my book!

You'll never learn if you don't LISTEN!!!
They are actually expensive for three reasons: luxury, engineering & technological excellence. There are YT channels with good reviews of all the Rolls Royce models delving into technical & under the hood details e.g. 1) Mr JWW Channel - RR Spectre - ua-cam.com/video/hx1v0dY0e2o/v-deo.html OR 2) Carwow Channel - RR Spectre - ua-cam.com/video/ANPKMbm_cvQ/v-deo.html OR 3) Mr JWW Channel- Rolls Royce Phantom II - ua-cam.com/video/x6NqHbfZNTM/v-deo.html 4) Throttle House channel -2024 Rolls-Royce Spectre Review // Why It's Worth $500,000 - ua-cam.com/video/aWSCm3YN_sQ/v-deo.html
I was looking at those umbrellas that some RR's carry in their doors, and you can buy them, but they are about $600 each.
It’s really disappointing to see such an impressive marque being put down by someone who doesn’t understand 😢
I would prefer a Bentley.
No, an Aston Martin as Lord Brett Sinclair had in the Persuaders 😊🧡
I have a 1990 Bentley Eight, in Black with cream interior
HMQ and now HMK official car is a Bentley, it has some ‘interesting’ customisations.
Rolls Royces drive so smoothly compared to all other vehicles, the ride quality is unmatched. It's not just a custom pimped BMW.
You just cannot understand that ALL RR cars are custom made - there is NO base unit. The supreme engineering is something you will never understand.
Surprised that nobody has mentioned the famous phrase "if you have to ask what a Rolls Royce costs, you cannot afford one"
Which was risky as we lived on a council estate 😂
He took us out in it one night, just to the petrol garage, but we felt like royalty 😁
From what I can ascertain from looking at prices in the UK a basic new Rolls Royce Ghost will cost you between £280,000 to £323,800
I own a 1990 Bentley Eight; it was built on the Rolls Royce production line, and it matches the Rolls Royce Seraph, only the badges are different; it's just passed its MOT with no advisories and ULEZ Compliant. It's as good now as it was when it was new 34 years ago; it is my daily driver.
My Bentley is 6.75 litre, as are all the Rolls Royce's of that era.
The wonder of it is not how expensive they are, but how cheap, considering the levels of engineering, craftsmanship and quality that goes into each car.......
If you got rid of all the things you want to get rid of, you're not buying a Rolls Royce - something many cannot understand.
4:45 red brake caliper* (it's what pushes the pad onto the brake disc)
Rolls Royce never break down, they do occasionally ‘fail to proceed’.
And still, trial and error is happening.
11:13
OK.
They’re art pieces basically, more like a modern day carriage type thing.

In the course of my 75 years to date, I've been a passenger in (and occasionally driven) a Roller scores of times. This century, I've never seen a Roller that is not bespoke to a smaller or larger degree. So base price sales probably account for under 5 percent of sales today.

Thats why they cost so much.. No matter what you like, you can have it and it will be top quality
If you are using the best materials with some of the best crafters in their respective trades and making all that choice available at all, the cost is going to be high.
Add to that the Brand reputation (it was very old fashioned until relativly recently but still was famous) for comfort, smoothness and a ride described as being cloud like.
"for the best money"...
The point of the modern Rolls is the definition of being "Extra".. No matter what you want, you can have it. (in terms of design and features... not handling or power.. )
Note, these are powerful cars... but they don't nail you in the seat... they effortlessly waft you along at ever increasing speeds.
It's all HAND made not machine made supposedly
Not just its luxury but its longevity. I have seen it said that at least 65% of ALL Rollers built are still on the road. I have also seen the percentage put as 75%.
If you ever have the chance to drive one, even the old timers, you’ll know. (I’ve been in the factory… never seen a cleaner place)
In the old times one of the cars of mr. Heineken (yes Alfred the owner of the Heineken emporium) had an 8track soundsystem, it was incredibly clear and beautiful while driving. Btw try putting a coin on its side on the hood and then start your car, see if it stays up right..
Out of the box here in the UK .... zero option... approx £480,000
In the UK you can get a second hand Rolls Royce silver spirit for between £5000 to £15,000 = $6400 to $19.000 depending on condition
Dull content creates a dull reaction.

If another company put a car together in exactly the same way would it cost as much? No of course not.

They told you how much the base cost was at the beginning!
It was said that 60 percent of RRs built since 1930 is still around.
I'm with you. It's actually a well engineered car, but the rich are the rich
