If you're an Android user with friends or family on iPhones, you're probably well aware of the "blue bubble, green bubble" frustration that comes from the incompatibility between Apple's iMessage and Android's SMS/MMS/RCS messaging. It is a deeply-entrenched issue that primarily persists in the US; but companies like Beeper are stepping up to offer actual solutions. In the past week or so, I finally got my invitation to try out Beeper's iMessage claims for myself, and, much like you'd expect, I immediately wanted to see if it would work on my Chromebook. And it 100% does!

Beeper as a service has existed since 2021 and it's been covered by TechCrunch, The Verge, Wired, etc and Apple hasn't touched it yet .... time will tell. 🤔
That's Microsoft's schtick!
Funny how you only find a problem with Apple having features and services that others don't.
Apple is "inferior" so it must be easy for everyone else to just beat them.

Possibly but they haven't shut down other alternatives, I personally use the blue bubble method and it still works. And I think that has been around for a couple of years
The concept of Beeper is amazing and something we all could use in some way. The reality is that not only is the security aspect a big concern but how long before Apple, Facebook and others shut it down or tweak their code to kill it. Probably not long. Remember when Palm updated their phones to sync with iTunes?

I got my invite 3 weeks ago. It's a lot to set-up and has some bugs but man... it's pretty damn good. It even supports RCS
As an alternative, if you have an old Apple machine laying around, AirMessage is also a good solution. I switch back and forth from Android and iOS and enjoy AM as my SMS+iMessage all-in-one app while on Android. Thanks for the Beeper video though as another viable option!

beeper doesn't mainly exist in the US, it works everywhere
I don't use imessage but I have been waiting for a decent all in one solution to having multiple messaging apps. Is this a free service? What are they going to gain? Will they be selling data?

Or
Buying a old windows laptop which contains good processor like ryzen 5 and switch that with free Chrome OS.
I think the second one gives more benefits because of the performance, premium display and the build quality and the backlit keyboard.

So, you still need an Apple device and not just an Apple account?
Apple, likely to Call it a Security fault, and close the thing down. One Can then only wonder why Apple still allow the Old sms…you know…the security…instead of allow RCS where the massage is Secure the whole Way arround, but people when Apple doesnt want to support RCS, then they really really give a s… for security.

Those friends seem to be not friends at all. Use a messanger, that is not reduced to one company but open to all people.

I don't know what the entire iMessage craze is about. Apple really markets their products well than any other company... "Superior" mentality

@@Seyram_yak "Everywhere" being about half the US only. The rest of the world uses Android and Whatapp, mostly.
It’s because it is superior. SMS is garbage in comparison. Plenty of Android phone manufacturers have their form of “iMessage”. The big difference is that iPhones are always made by Apple, which means every iPhone user has access to the same messaging app that can switch between that and SMS messaging with no effort.
Android has a ton of great options for messaging, but the presence of choice means you have fragmentation.
Also, WhatsApp is very popular across the world, but the US is different in that regard. We never adopted it to the extent of other nations.
It’s basically like BBM (blackberry messenger) that was extremely popular..
It’s a native app on every iPhone, that can send and receive video files with very low compression..same with images..sms and mms will compress the crap outta videos

I own a Pixel phone. I own an iPhone. Each phone has its own number but are on different networks. My iPhone friends use iPhones. My Pixel friends use Android. If an iPhone friend sends me a message on Android, I tell them to text my iPhone...and visa versa. The two worlds shall never meet.
