Hi Misty! It’s Greg🥳 thanks for the shoutout! OEC is short for “Oishi” 😋 the sweet lady is Mieko. Keep up the good food reviews! Hope to NOT see u in the field!🙏🙏
@ yeh very thoughtful. I worked in broadcasting at college and all the guys in the truck were always going to great hole in the wall places to eat. I had my auntie & she always made my lunches lol 😂
Aloha Misty: Nice to see such a high-quality meal as a plate lunch. This must have been a treat to experience. Thank you for presenting the great food finds of downtown Honolulu. I am looking forward to next Friday for another “yummy” adventure. Best wishes to you and your young man! Much 🤙 and 🧧, fellow 🐯!
Aloha Bill! Yes what a tasty treat for the week. The pasta was delicious and it made 2 more meals for Aiden. He enjoyed it as well. I ate the rest of the curry the next day for lunch. Mahalo ans have a wonderful week ahead! 🐯🤙
@ Glad to hear that your young man, and you, are enjoying the evolution of the fusion of plate lunches. You are doing a fantastic job of loving, and guiding, your young man. Best wishes and hopes, fellow 🐯-alum! 🤙
Thai curry is sure look delicious I do enjoyed it, I'm hungry now. Thank you for sharing your delicious video. Have a wonderful afternoon. Peace to you Misty.
Keep up your great reviews on the Mom and Pop "hole in the wall" restaurants. Love Greg's explanation of how the Japanese owners came up with the name OEC. Just like 5-4-4 - Go Shi Shi😀😀😀
I love green curry, too, and love to eat Thai a lot. Nice that they separated the food. Love pasta made that way. The bread is to sophisticated soak up all that goodness❤
Love the splash screen graphic! That linguine was amazing! I’m hungry now… trying to decide what i want for dinner. Asked the wife what she wanted and she said “up to you”. DUH!!! 😂 so she can’t complain.🤬 Great video! See you tonight!
Sounds really tasty! I like unknown variety, but it's not great for my spouse who has food allergies. Thanks for the review and giving us a heads up about this particular place.
What a diverse menu - both dishes looked great. Had green curry once. Torched my entire GI tract. Been a massaman-man ever since. How 'bout them Dodgers?
Really? I've never had a very spicy green curry before. I thought the red was the most spicy. I'd rather have the Dodgers win than them Yankees. Hate the Yankees. 🤣
I’ve ordered takeout from there a few times back when I worked downtown. My take was that the food was good and “right-sized” for the price. Not sure if the rates for parking is still reasonable but Alii Place on Alakea is in walking distance.
He mentioned the green curry and I think chicken katsu. But because they change dishes everyday I just got the two main items. Glad I was able to taste the curry. The pictures on Yelp for the other dishes look good too!
I always eat the Thai curry and the vegan cold noodle w sesame sauce. It’s a unique flavor w that sauce and I wish I knew how they make it. The vegan noodle is a healthy alternative and it is just enough. It comes w a small sushi rice thingy and a broccoli 🥦 and cauliflower w pumpkin. It’s really Oishi. The other dish I like is the chicken balls. They make an orange chicken dish but I don’t like orange chicken. That karaage chicken one comes w a spring roll w is da bomb. I asked Mieko if she could just sell the spring roll but she said no cuz it takes too much time to make. 🤣
Aloha Tevye! How nice that you'll be in town next week! Yeah, the menu is really all over the place. I liked the pasta the best, and my son finished the rest and really liked it too.
To bad I am not there, I could "model the food" and eat it too while you film. LOL. Not a fan of green curry, I am more of a red curry kinda guy. hahaha.
I've never tried green curry because I was afraid of the heat. I usually only get the yellow curry, but I may have to chance it and order the green one because you made it sound pretty darn yummy. Interesting menu. Wow! Mac salad at a Thai restaurant!?!
Actually green curry (well the ones I've had anyway) is not really spicy. I like it because the green comes from grinded up basil, which is my favorite. Also, I usually love the additions in it. Usually they always put eggplant in green curry. If you want to try something close to home, I like Siam Express Kitchen near Kabuki Restaurant in Waimalu Shopping Center. I think maybe I misspoke, but never had mac salad at a Thai restaurant. I just mentioned no mac salad here if people expected it since it is a plate lunch. Have a great day!
@@titasmom678 nice! That's so cool that you did riflery. Too bad they didn't give you ear protection. I had those cheap ear plugs at the range and my ears still rang for 2 days, so I can imagine shooting without all the time. That definitely takes a toll.

Hi Greg! Thanks for suggesting this place to me. And oh what a clever play on thr letters for Oishi! Thanks for explaining. 🤙☺️
The separation of pasta/rice to the gravy is ideal for me!! 🎉🎉Tips from cameramen are GOLD!!
Right?! So thoughtful. Especially when you want to eat it as leftovers. Yeah the tips from the cameraman was solid. 🤙

I walk by that place all the time. Def gonna stop now and get something, thank you!
Awesome! 🤙
LOL! "Might as well get some exercise if you're getting a plate lunch" 100%
🤣 Walking is such great low-impact exercise!

Mahalo Ken! Yes totally a clever way to make a name. Kind of like how Carl OG3 stands for oh gee san.
Love your reviews!!
Thanks Kim!
Both plates looks good, tossed salad instead of mac is healthier, meals are huge. Looks like a good place to try mahalo😊
Aloha Eric. Yeah I'd rather have tossed salad than mac salad. ☺️
Really enjoyed the video Misty, the thai curry looks so good!
Mahalo Robert! Thank you for always watching. 🤙
: ) THANKS MUCH for sharing ! Yummmmmmmm LOVE Curry dish ! ENJOY your weekend and ALL the BEST ! ! Cheers : )
You're welcome Marty! Have a wonderful weekend! 🤙

Yes was all ono! You'd love Thailand. One plate of food at a mom and pop shop was $1.50.

🤣🤣🤣 be nice to the Dragon Lady or whatever you call her before she puts the pillow over your head while you sleep. 🤣🤣 see you later at the herf.
Thank you for the videos on hidden gems
Mahalo Norman! 🤙

@@FoodFiend you're a true boston redsox fan.

Ah that's a great idea to park by Alii'i Place. I havent parked there since the Mandalay closed down, so I don't know the current rate.
Still one of the cheapest parking places. We park there if we can't find free street parking.
The best places are where downtown office workers go. I'd go there on my lunch break.
Yes what a wonderful place for all the workers to go to.
Love me some green curry! 😋
Awesome Kari! It is super delicious 😋
I work close by so I’ll try it.
Awesome 🤙
I ate at Irifune recently and walked past this place. The green curry caught my eye. Did rockstar Greg mention his go to dishes?

@@NigelBullocks I love green curry so will def try that. Love sesame flavor too so have to try that too. Chicken balls don't sound appetizing! haha...
@@harleydy😂 maybe I shoulda just said chicken karaage 🤣
The pasta looks so good. I want pasta now for dinner.
Yay hope you got to get the pasta you wanted. Whether homemade or take out. 🤙
Their menu is all over the place but that curry looks super Ono. I’ll be in town next week I think I’ll checkem out 🤙🏽

@FoodFiend haha. Better re-watch, then get my hearing checked 😮
@titasmom678 nah I probably misspoke. I'm deaf for real! Too much loud music in my younger years. 🤣
@FoodFiend mine is from being on Riflery Team in high-school when they didn't give ear protection.(aka Dark Ages) Ha!
