I was really young when I played this game. When I first heard this song while playing I was obsessed with it. I would always play the game looking for this song again and I always had such a hard time finding it for whatever reason -- i guess my little brain couldn't remember which minigame it went with. I'm so happy to hear it again, it's warming my little heart. It feels like a long lost friend, lol.
This song always made me cry. My mom's mom had just died and at the time, she was going through a lot of stuff so she was not the mom she was before. Every time I heard it, I thought my mom was going to abandon me. As an adult I laugh to think that I thought that, but I understand too. The music is so powerful. I was always so quick to finish the diatom puzzle because I didn't want to hear the end of the song and start crying lol!
The shark's game. This ost is magic, scared me and amazed me at the same time when I was a child. I'm 21 and still tingles listening to it, so many memories... thank you for this video
I played this game when I was little, but never really appreciated the music until I got older... *sigh* this and the glowing fish track are so beautiful.
It's been nearly twenty years since I played this game or heard the soundtrack, I had all but forgotten the music and the game. Then I start listening to the music and my fingers start tapping with the music on their own, apparently some part of my brain has it all squirreled away for safe keeping...nice to know :)
Did you also know that it was part of the track options for Kelp 📺 hosted by Arnold Perlstein? I remember it well, but I had trouble identifying the colors of the buttons with the 🎵s on them.
I have it on disc and it's the same - they're not just set out in the root directory like you'd think if you're looking on file explorer, they're nestled amongst the game files that's how I was able to find them.
Install the 4 game collection from the internet archive. That version of "explores the ocean" has fixed audio, as long as you follow the review to get the program to run.
I recently got into Kingdom Hearts, and I was trying to figure out what "Sanctuary" reminded me of. Parts of the chorus remind me of the 1st part of this song.
Um, not really??? All I hear is the long silence which is really common but still really dumb. Edit: at least I can thank tvtropes for introducing me to this ost?
Omg yes I was so into this Song and plopped it into my cd player hoping I could hear this song specifically! Then it worked and I was so stoked.. I tried my explores the jungle Rom and it just made a horrid screeching sound 🤣
I always wanted to play q cave explore game to this music, it is perfection, could you do a 1 hour or 10 hour version! I would watch!!! 🖤💜💙💚💙💜🖤 I love this song!!
This is so soothing that it definitely reminds me a little bit of going to the spa for treatment even though it's such a shame that no one allows me to burn the song on a blank CD that I may possibly give to the spa that I USED go to which I won't reveal the name of to you online as a violation of Internet privacy. 👍🏻 if you agree and like my great idea at the same time.
I remember this music making me really sad as a kid. Maybe it was the spooky minor key, maybe it was just a little too loud for my hearing sensitivity, maybe it’s cuz I was playing it in a dark room at the time, but I remember genuinely fighting back tears after hearing it for a while.
Man, the early 2000's had some damn good PC games for its time. Spider-Man, 3D Ultra Lionel Traintown, Where in Time is Carmen Sandiego,?, The Incredible Machine series, Magic School Bus games (Ocean, Earth, Jungle, and Dinosaurs, as far as I can remember). And let's not forget the early WildTangent games that were released (built in) in PCs over the years, too. SaberWing 2, Blasterball, and Dark Orbit... *Sigh* Ahhh, memories... And they said video games rot your brain back then. I laugh at those foolish words, even to this day!
You listed my fuckin library. Star wars rogue squadron was the only one missing haha. Wildgent had the fuckin shit. There was some 3d tank game I played the shit out of before any game on Gameboy or console. I wish I knew what the fuck it was called
It's not early 2000s. These are mid 90s titles. I know cause Dad got them new for me when I was in Quincy California in elementary school. We had our own PC at the time that was capable enough of doing this. Dad knew what to do. We almost went online in 1995 but they gave us bad parts in Reno. In 1987 Dad went online on Commodore 64 and was one of only 1500 users WORLD WIDE!!!!
Ah yes, this is the track in the particular game I'd so wanted to hear. Unfortunately it doesn't work in my virtual machine, so it's great that someone's uploaded it. But since the errors that are coughed up are mostly related to CD Audio, I was trying to see if I could open them in a CD player program but none of my usual programs that detect CD audio work. What did you use exactly to find these? There's .wav files all throughout the game files but none of them are for the BGM.
If I remember correctly, I put the game disc in the drive and used iTunes to rip the music tracks, starting on Track 2 (I think the instructions say audio players will see a 'Track 1', but it's the game data).
webbox100 did the same thing. Apparently certain games, if not all, have the soundtrack built-in. Learned that when i ripped music from Wins 95 version of Mechwarrior 2: 31st Century Conbat.
I tunes uses Watson AI as the rest do and assumes what people click on. A lot of people likely clicked on Weird Al's stuff so that shows up on Wastson somewhere in the branch that determines "Yes" or "No". It's actually very asinine way of doing things but it started in 2011. We had a big depression and companies were shrinking or laying people off.
I wonder if this is why Microsoft and others gave up the ghost? TLC company and HE went bye bye probably after this issue and they didn't want to take any chance.
Diatom background music: Aquatically pleasant, and ethereal.
Diatom puzzle sound effects: Cartoony, and goofy.

The song is called "The Diatom" and I've been looking for it for years now. I'm crying tears of joy. Thank you.
Vadii4135 Yes, such a wonderfully emotional track ... in a kids’ computer game!
Fucking same dude

Is that because it's in the food chain jigsaw puzzle, whose first phase is the diatom?
I spent so many hours back in the nineties playing the old Magic School Bus computer games. The nostalgia rush is real.
The amount of times I'd play the mini-game just to hear this song...It's so good to hear it again!
This really hits that "Webcore" aesthetic that is starting to get really popular lately. Really dig this track.
After 20 years I can hear my fave song from my childhood again. Thank you.

Same, im 23 and this bring back so many memories. Like the sound effect when you hit the coralls with the shark.
I've literally had this song stuck in my head for a decade. Thank you, now I finally get to hear it again.

This my favorite track of this game. Very Zen and mysterious.

So nostalgic. I remember first hearing this music during the puzzle game. This song has been stuck in my head for the last 15 years haha

You've just tuned in to Kelp TV! Move your mouse across the screen and see what happens!
This song used to give me a knot in my throat.
this song is my literal childhood yet it scares me to this day 💀
None of the emulators I can find have the music. This is magical. Thank you so much.
Same here. What's wrong with the ISO's?

Ethereal, gorgeous, mesmerizing, nostalgic... I love this song :D
Relaxing, too! Please listen to it at home when you have a cucumber over the eyes treatment scheduled for home spa care.

Anyone else think it was weird they were playing ethereal music to a bunch of 5 year olds? Lol
I don't, and I was a child when this game came out.
not weird, the devs were just cool like that
