Sad that Prime video makes you pay a ridiculous amount for episodes of his show. Mr. Rogers himself said that he wanted his show to be free for anyone, but monopolies are pure evil.
My aunt has three sons who were all really big fans of Mr. Rogers when they were younger. My aunt couldn't take them to see him because they are severely autistic. She wrote to him explaining her situation. When Mr. Rogers came to their area, he visited their house, and put on a show just for them. I used to have a picture of all of them together, hanging on the fridge. I was little at the time, and I thought it was so cool that my aunt had met him. He really was a great man.
"Let's give the fish some food." He would always announce this because a little blind girl sent him a letter asking him to, so she could know when he was doing it.

He was a Presbyterian minister, just as Jimmy Carter is a Deacon in his particular Baptist congregation. They exemplify what Christianity actually is: Be Good. Do Good. That's it. If you do your best do live up to those four words, you're living up to his standard.
I know a lot of people respect Mr. Rogers as a great human being, but if we really, _really_ took his words to heart, not just thought of them as touching and deep, I think that's what would really change the world. Really, truly treating everyone like your neighbor would fix so many problems.
I‘m with you. But I feel it kind of hard to define ‚... like you love yourself‘. I mean I try to be nice and often value the good of people I know higher than the good of mine. And if you are particular about it: even a little act of friendship like holding a door open for a stranger fits in that interpretation of ‚love‘ or devotion. So I would like to know which specific commandments/recommendations did Mr. Rogers communicate over the years? Or is it more like the big picture which one got when it/she/he watched Mr. Rogers for quite a time. I would accept that, but it doesnt help to understand the belief this man had. It seems that you were so fortunate to grow up with Mr. Rogers so maybe you could tell which good characteristics you think you have because of the best neighbour. I‘m looking forward to your answers. Have a nice day. Greetings from Bavaria, Germany, Earth.

Rogers, Ross and Sagan were all in pretty different fields (Children's entertainment, painting, and astrophysics, respectively), but they all had a very positive message about life. I'm sure they were all on public TV at some point, but I think the reason people love them is that they're simultaneously intelligent and uplifting.
Yes, Mr. Rogers, Bob Ross, and Carl Sagan all had shows on PBS (Mr. Rogers's Neighborhood, The Joy of Painting, and Cosmos, respectively), but just as Mr. Johnson said below, they were also very positive, intelligent, and uplifting folks who addressed their viewers directly.
"Sometimes when we disagree, I feel frustrated. But I never forget how lucky I am to have you in my family. Always remember how special you are" ~Audio captured from 1981 of Fred Rogers having an argument with his wife on set. Mr. Rogers projected an air of genuine, unwavering, almost saintly pure-hearted decency. But when you look deeper, at the person behind the image ... that's exactly what you find there, too. He's exactly what he appears to be.
Indeed my friend. He inspired many many people even to this day. May he rest easy. A genius man who had a gift to connect people through television. RIP Mr Rogers.
*Tom Hanks CANNOT GENUINELY do what Mister Rogers did for 33 years, went to Congress for, and convinced the GOVERNMENT to grant him money to keep HIS show going for the education of children* by comparison, Tom Hanks lost a volleyball and cried for Oscar fame
+Power B He was an impressive and inspiring man. He brought out the best in people. When I made a mistake, even a big one, he'd smile at me and say "keep trying".
Seven years later and I still watch this just because. I could be profoundly sad, super happy, or seriously drunk and all the sudden think, I need me some Mister Roger's Remix!
I was born the year he died. My older cousins showed me this vid in 2012. Stuck with me since. I’ll never forgot or mister Rogers. I wish he didn’t have to leave this earth right as I arrived 😔
Every time I read this one I boo hoo like a 5-year-old. Mr. Rogers was so special because he made each person that watched the show feel like he personally knew you and from accounts of people that were lucky enough to meet him in real life, he treated you like an old friend. He's sincerely missed, and his message of kindness is needed today.
I’m going through an intense bout of my depression and anxiety. Not suicidal, just despondent. I looked this up because I was raised on this show, and I just need to hear a kind voice right now.
This man turned downed multiple-millions of merchandizing dollars out of principle. PBS paid him enough and he wasn't going to take any more. The world is a less decent place in your absence Fred.
I remember watching the episode where he makes those paper chains. Then a few days later we did it in school and I felt like the coolest kid in the class because I had seen Mr. Rodgers do it xD
I grew up in the 80's. We didn't realize it then, but we had the BEST toys, TV and movies, and we had Mr. Rogers. I am humbled at times thinking of it.
I loved the simple but wise lines in this video: • "It's good to be curious about many things." • "Imagine every person you see is somewhat different from every other person in the world." • "Did you ever think of the many things you’ve learned to do?" • "There are so many things to learn about in this world -- and so many people who can help us learn."
I wanted to say that watching the Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood marathon on Twitch has been quite the revelation for me. Having watched the show for the first time from an adult perspective has made me come to truly appreciate everything Mr. Rogers contributed to this world. I don't think I ever fully conceived just how great of a man Fred Rogers was in my youth. I'm happy to know that feeling now, even though the show has long since run its course. Thank you PBS for helping me realize this, and thank you Mr. Rogers for all you've done.
I, to, had the same experience discovering Mr. Rogers in my adulthood, when my first child was very little - the early '80s. I was Mesmerized and continued watching long after she was old enough to go to school! He was, and still is, the very best.
That’s beautiful. I echo your sentiments about seeing the marathon on Twitch and experiencing Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood as an adult. His words carry me through dismal times, no matter how long it has last been since I saw the show, and it’s legitimately changed my outlook. It’s fundamental.
@@MrDanamp , me too! I sat down and watched Mister Rogers every weekday morning with my children, in the early 1980s. Those were the sweetest memories I have. 💗😊🌷
Scrolling through the comments and surprisingly I couldn't find a negative one. That's unusual for UA-cam. Just show how much respect everyone had and STILL has for this man. R.I.P. Mr. Rogers We miss you :'(
I cry every single time I watch this. He sent me a very thoughtful two page hand typed and signed letter about a year before he passed, and it was the most comforting thing I had ever gotten in my life. This man was a true gem.
I'm 18 years of age. To this VERY day, from the time I was about 4 or 5 years old, I still watch Mister Roger's Neighborhood as if I were my younger self. Even more into it now, than I was when I was little. This is truly very inspiring, and very moving. I truly love this. I still tear up EVERY, single time I listen to this song. Both, he and this song, are and always will be a very comforting presence in my life. If only everyone could view the world and other people around them as Mr. Fred Rogers did...... This world would be so much better.
He was truly a great man who loved everyone. The older I've gotten and the longer it's been since he's died, the more I've realized how special he was. Love and peace to you, my friend.
This man was a hero of mine.. a huge part of my childhood and I have so much respect for him. He was truly amazing... no one else has ever or will ever be like him. The world is a worse off place without him here... I miss him. Thanks for making this wonderful tribute to Mister Rogers.
No. The world is better off becuase of him. If anything is sad, it’s that he showed entire generations of us how to live and how to be towards each other and none of us picked up the torch he tried to pass along and carried it the way he did. I don’t know if it’s that we can’t or that we won’t but either option terrifies me for all of us.
with the advances in AI and fortunately that we have 3 or more decades of his shows are video recorded. It may soon be possible to create personal Mister Rogers friends(neighbors) for everyone.
Every year since this got posted I’d find myself watching it and crying. It’s like the universe knows I needed the emotional release. Sometimes nothing’s really up; just to be reminded of one good person’s power to cause change. Good tears. Thank you, Mr. Rogers.
This video was posted in a Discord forum I am on. I found it comforting to watch today, on the 20th anniversary of 9/11. You're right we all need to be reminded of one good person's power to cause (good) change.
I don't understand how people can say unkind things about him. He was a good man. He was of the greatest humans to have lived and those who say unkind things about him are the real assholes who are the trash of humanity.
i laughed way too hard at that. the comments section is filled with people being emotional, and then there's some guy correcting someones spelling. never change, internet, never change
Man, every time I watch this, my heart hurts a little. I'm not really sad, so much as I am just overwhelmed. Mr. Rogers was a big part of my childhood, and I don't think there will ever be anyone as incredibly endearing and as incredible as the incomparable Fred Rogers. Thank you so much @PBS Voices and the entire Network, for decades of incredible programming and teaching entire generations about the world, in a way we could understand.
rocket5010 I know what you mean. The way the piano music combined with his echoing words plucks at the strings of emotion. If you ever get the chance to watch some of his shows I think you'll like it. Very comforting to watch. Heck, when I have kids I'm going to try and buy up as many seasons as I can so they can watch.
I use his words in everyday life. To raising my kids, to working, to sharing a meal with a stranger. He makes me want to be a better human. Your are missed Mr. Roger's but never forgotten.
its when people like these leave this world that life just seems alittle bit darker and more dull, but remembering how people like him changed how i saw the world, its enough to get you by :) thank you, for people like this
I'm proud to be Mr. Roger's neighbor. They finally released all his shows on DVD, my kids and grandkids watch it everyday.....what a blessing this man was, we didn't deserve him, bt he loved us anyway.
Mr. Rogers was likely the most amazing, compassionate, selfless, generous, and special man ever to grace our planet. He should be the measuring stick that we all use to gauge how good of a person we are/can be. The world will always be a better place due to his having lived in it.
This man is literally the highest expression of human nature. A prolific contributor to society who touched countless lives; a wholly compassionate man who by all accounts embodied the highest ideals, and whose very presence was a source of peace and love. He's an example to children of what's possible for those who allow the glory of spirit to guide their lives rather than falling victim to the trappings of the material world. One such man compensates for millions of lesser individuals, and all these lesser may hold out hope that with him as the model they too may achieve greatness of character and lifelong joy.
I'm three years old again. Love this man. Thanks Momma for letting me watch all the Mr. Rogers I wanted to, and them making me go outside and play! Tears....
Story time, featuring Klaus Burgstaller. When I learned some English that I could understand people, I was still a low quality boy. I didn't learn like most people because I moved. All though I was like 8, I felt like I was half my age due to my lack of learning. People were concered about me. Though back in the day, I did nothing on weekends and sick says but watch TV. One day I had a caught a cold so bad I had to say out of school for a week. My little sister, Aloisia, had known far more English than I did, and she was about 5. I came in after waking up during my sick week to see her watching a show called "Mister Roger's Neighborhood." I stuck along with her and watched a bit of it. I eventually started to like the show and wanted to see more. In which case, after watching the show, my speed of learning somehow increased. It was either because I was concentrating on something else, or because I was encouraged. In which, it was both. Apperently the show had saved my life from being a bigger failure then I was. However, when I was 15, I had heard the news that Mr. Rogers was already dead, in which I looked up his "last words" and fell into a lot of tears. And thus, Klaus' life through America had finally begun. And plus, I learned a lot of English through that show. That's the end of the story.
I saw this on PBS myself and on TV there was a short version of this but I didn't know there was a full version of this the first time I started watching this on UA-cam
Mister Rogers understood that empathy is one the key factors in learning. Trying to understand other people, places, situations and the like is important, much more so than being able to pass a multiple choice test. Thinking you know everything is sickness, saying you know nothing is a lie.
Everything I hear about Mr. Rogers makes me appreciate him more. One of my favorite stories about him is the one time his car was stolen. It was mentioned in the news that day and the next day the car showed up in his driveway. It had a note on it that that roughly said "if I knew it was your car I wouldn't have stolen it." Another favorite of mine is how a blind viewer wrote to him that she was concerned he didn't feed his fish enough. So every time he fed them on the show, he would say he was just for her. RIP Mr. Rogers.
I really miss Mr Rogers. I was lucky to be one of the generations (born in 1978) to grow up watching Mr. Rogers. We didn't know what a treasure we had. The world would be a much better place if everyone took to heart the ideals he worked so hard to share. I was lucky, indeed. 3
Me too! Born in 1982- we had about 2 channels most of my childhood and PBS was one of them. I still turn it on anytime I'm babysitting; he's better any day of the week than the mind-numbing stuff thrown at today's kids.
The ending where he vanishes into the light makes me think he’s walking into Heaven; and therefore, gives me chills. He’s truly my hero and has always inspired how I work with children. When I become a social worker, I will dedicate my practice to his legacy and the good he has done for humanity and the generations of children that grew up feeling like he was their grandpa by watching Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood.
This is such an awesome tribute to a man that single-handedly shaped the adults of today by empowering them with wholesome thoughts and vivid imaginations and a powerful sense of discovery.
I agree, children in this time will never experience television like this nowadays. All there is on a daily basis are random, bullshit TV shows with no values for children to learn from. We're growing retards now that all these good, wholesome TV shows have faded away after 2004.
Ryan Heath Perhaps this is where you can come in and be something different from the random bullshit on TV. Be your true honest self and be an example for others to follow.
Ryan Heath Absolutely, but nothing worthwhile should be easy as I am fond of saying. The difficulty here is dependent on how far you are willing to go to see it happen, or if that is what you really want after all.
Simpler steps are also available: participating in the fund raiser drives for PBS ("Paid for by views like you"); voting on state and federal legislation that upholds these types of shows and puts bans on age-inappropriate shows that regularly appear on "children's" networks; literally, no kidding, writing your congressman for bills like this even works. State legislation passes roughly 17x more bills than federal, but either is a good place to start.
This man was instrumental in how I saw myself as an abused child, as an adult this song convinced me to start writing. Something I always wanted to do but never thought I should or could do. This man was one of a kind.
Fred Rogers was, is and will alwalys be a legend. His shows were so real not over the top. Very calming to watch and somwthing you could almost alwalys learn from even as a adult. He is so caring as well and so real
Mr. Rogers was a great person. I never had the opportunity to meet him or even watch his show when I was young. I wish I could... May his memory and impact in the world be eternal.
Actually, he slipped a mention of God once in an early episode of his show and sprinkled some biblical references every so often, but no, he wasn't obvious about it!
Plus he wrote and sung the song "Goodnight God" when he worked alongside Josie Carey with The Children's Corner (which was a precursor to The Neighbourhood)
This song came out right before my freshman year of college. I listened to it so many times that year and beyond and it made me feel safe and happy about learning and being in a new place. I love Mr Rogers, and I love the PBS remixes. 🙏🏼💖
You are so very missed. So many of us had only three channels to choose from. Here in northeast Mississippi, the channels were 9, 4, and 12. Sometimes you could pick up another TV station or two using the UFH if you were really lucky. Mr. Rogers, Sesame Street, and the Electric Company influenced so many children over the years. They taught us to accept everyone for who they truly were. They taught us how to count, spell, and to let your imagination run free. There was no racism in those shows. No shows with people teaching hate and discrimination against one another. I wish that I could go back in time to the year 1974 when I was just five years old and watch Mr. Rogers for the first time all over again. He taught us that it was okay to be a kid and make mistakes so we would learn from them. To respect all adults, especially our parents, no matter who they were. There was no black and white in his world. No brown, yellow, tan, or what made up their physical beings. The most important message he taught me was to love myself.
I didn't hear this until the Twitch stream, and now I love it. Even though I can listen to it whenever I want on here, I still get excited whenever this plays during episode breaks. I really hope they do what they did with Bob Ross, make it a regular thing to stream these episodes. This is one show I definitely have a new appreciation for now that I'm older, I always thought it was boring as a kid and now I realize just what a wonder this man is.
Grew up as this man changed his shoes, opened my world. 2 decades later I've rediscovering this innocent man again . He enlightened children's homes, made them a place of endless discovery & chance to imagine their way into & out of any situation. He brought sign language, music, art, wonder . . Where did that sense of wonder go, bewilderment? Now i move to my own beat. Thanks Mr Rogers
Anyone watching in 2021? If Fred were here today, I'm certain we'd all have watched him on live stream this past year of him just finding simple ways to be entertaining and being smiles to us all
Wow. European here, never seen Mister Rogers before. Life has let me down seriously these last years but this video reminded me of the sheer joy of living and learning I used to feel once. Needless to say I cried. Mr Rogers, PBS and the artist did exactly what it means to make the world a better place with this. Thank you so much! I will try to embrace the happiness of this video and the fascination of learning more in my own life :)
Not exactly. The only time he was truly negative was when he sued a Texas store for using his image (shopped holding a revolver) on t-shirts. He said it was "sick humour"
I grew up without a father and he was one of the greatest Role Models I could have ever asked for I tried to live the way he has taught me. And the people that I have met along the way and the memories I have shared. Always try to be a kind person no matter what we don't know what someone is going through
it's sad. it's so rare that such a genuinely good person wanted to spread happiness, encouragement, positivity, to as many kids as possible. too many people have forgotten the lessons Mr Rogers taught us years ago.
I may not have been around long enough to witness this man much but he was my favorite show when I was little and I miss him :( I miss the little puppets and I miss hearing the little train. RIP Mr Rogers, forever in my heart
I can't help but think that Mr. Rogers would have liked this very much. Something about it still brings tears to my eyes. It's like it is a dedication to him. He really ministered to children to believe in themselves; to not be afraid to get in touch with their feelings, and to explore and use their unique gifts. May God richly bless Mr. Rogers and his family.
Fred Rogers is proof that humanity can be much better than it currently is.

fr i just came back and had to listen to it😂
Indeed my friend. He inspired many many people even to this day. May he rest easy. A genius man who had a gift to connect people through television. RIP Mr Rogers.
Timeless.
*Tom Hanks CANNOT GENUINELY do what Mister Rogers did for 33 years, went to Congress for, and convinced the GOVERNMENT to grant him money to keep HIS show going for the education of children*
by comparison, Tom Hanks lost a volleyball and cried for Oscar fame
Still rocking in 2021
The more I learn about Mr Rodgers, the more I become impressed with him.
+Luke Jolly You and me both pal, *sigh* I really wish I got a chance to meet him.

+Power B He was an impressive and inspiring man. He brought out the best in people. When I made a mistake, even a big one, he'd smile at me and say "keep trying".
+Luke Jolly LMFAO >.< 2:12-2:14 "thats what they call a slut!!" HAHAHAHAHA
This man was more of a father to me than my own father was. God bless him.
Seven years later and I still watch this just because. I could be profoundly sad, super happy, or seriously drunk and all the sudden think, I need me some Mister Roger's Remix!
same.
Thats why I'm here too! 😃
I was born the year he died. My older cousins showed me this vid in 2012. Stuck with me since. I’ll never forgot or mister Rogers. I wish he didn’t have to leave this earth right as I arrived 😔
So earnest and good. It makes me cry.
Me too!!!!
YazmanianDevil it really is a great video to watch when you need a good cry.
Amen sister!
Me too!
did you ever grow anything in the garden of your mind♪♪ my favorite part

I play this over and over i just love it xD i miss that
+Akira F. Pretty much listening to this on repeat :D

I have imvu do you
I’m going through an intense bout of my depression and anxiety. Not suicidal, just despondent. I looked this up because I was raised on this show, and I just need to hear a kind voice right now.
Just saw this. Hope you are doing ok
Are you ok?
Wishing the best for you :)
@@nicholasbrewer2023 you guys are so sweet! Yeah, I’m still here, better equipped for life. Turning 30 next week :)
@@whiskeyclones7161 I don't know if I'll catch this in time but. Happy birthday
I’ve cried time and time again listening to this. Many years later, just today I introduced this to my children, and they ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!
Mine too! It’s their jam 😂
This man turned downed multiple-millions of merchandizing dollars out of principle. PBS paid him enough and he wasn't going to take any more. The world is a less decent place in your absence Fred.
That's great to hear if it's true! I respect Bill Watterson for the same reason. Integrity.
Not a big believer in religion but I like to think Mr. Rogers actually went to the kingdom of heaven.
Bob Ross didn't take any pay at all. Then he donated all of his paintings. Bob and Mr. Rogers were two of the greatest people on this Earth.
If you watch the documentary that came out last year, he paid for the show out of his own pockets if I remember it correctly
Absolutely an amazing man.
I wish he was still around to help guide us all through life
I remember watching the episode where he makes those paper chains.
As a late 2000’s kid beyblades and skylanders were a blessing but 80’s action figures looked sick af.
I loved the simple but wise lines in this video:
• "It's good to be curious about many things."
• "Imagine every person you see is somewhat different from every other person in the world."
• "Did you ever think of the many things you’ve learned to do?"
• "There are so many things to learn about in this world -- and so many people who can help us learn."
You can think about things and make believe all you have to do is think and they'll grow.
I love this song man.
"Have you ever seen a cat's eyes? .....in the dark"
"I didn't order any w-w-wiggity-whistles..."
It’s truly a blessing to have grown up watching Mr. Rogers
I'm still horribly jealous of everyone who got to watch all of his episodes on Twitch D-: but I'm glad you had that experience
TheRe wAs a MisTeR RoGeR's MarAtHoN oN tWitCh!!??
You have made a difference in our world. And in our neighborhood. I will do my very best to make you proud
Scrolling through the comments and surprisingly I couldn't find a negative one. That's unusual for UA-cam. Just show how much respect everyone had and STILL has for this man. R.I.P. Mr. Rogers We miss you :'(
I doubt there was anyone who hated him he was the best
Ricky F we all loved Mr Roger.
Exactly. I'm 38 I remember the show even remember some of the theme song, but I can not remember ever watching it, though I'm sure I have.
Ricky F it just makes me smile 😊. ❤️

I cry every single time I watch this. He sent me a very thoughtful two page hand typed and signed letter about a year before he passed, and it was the most comforting thing I had ever gotten in my life. This man was a true gem.
Whenever I'm sad I watch a bunch of mr Rogers videos and I feel better

Mr. Rogers was too pure for this world. This heals my soul.
Godless tv program.

Every time I listen to this a whole bunch of emotions well up.

rocket5010 I know what you mean.
Tears....
I’m 57, and find myself rewatching/ sharing this with others. So many need a loving male voice to reraise your own broken soul. Very comforting.
What made this show awesome was that Fred really was who he portrayed himself to be. And you could just tell. THATS why it was amazinf

Über Medic (Mid-Air Backstab) :)
Beautiful story!
…and still we grow. isn’t life beautiful?
:)

I can never get tired of this song. Only golden times like these can be listened to for years and never feel boring.

The world is fortunate to have you in it. 👍❤️
I miss him so much. He will always be with us in our hearts.
You're absolutely right, sir. But the ultimate problem here, is financing a project like that.

+treymedley Never stop cultivating your garden :)
he was a minister but never once mentioned his religion on the show. we need more of that nowadays
Actually, he slipped a mention of God once in an early episode of his show and sprinkled some biblical references every so often, but no, he wasn't obvious about it!
He didn’t need to talk, he was the example of how Jesus lives in people’s hearts!
Because he was, before any religion or other dogma, a minister of basic decency.
Plus he wrote and sung the song "Goodnight God" when he worked alongside Josie Carey with The Children's Corner (which was a precursor to The Neighbourhood)
I dont believe in god.
But i believe in Mr.Rogers
Mr. Eight-Three-One xmc
"Mister McFeely, I didn't order any whistles."
(the most negative thing mister rogers ever said)
trailzy tru tho
Not exactly. The only time he was truly negative was when he sued a Texas store for using his image (shopped holding a revolver) on t-shirts. He said it was "sick humour"
That made me cry and feel ashamed of my own judgmental tongue.
I grew up without a father and he was one of the greatest Role Models I could have ever asked for I tried to live the way he has taught me. And the people that I have met along the way and the memories I have shared. Always try to be a kind person no matter what we don't know what someone is going through
I had the pleasure of meeting Fred Rogers. What a genuine gift to humanity he was.
it's sad. it's so rare that such a genuinely good person wanted to spread happiness, encouragement, positivity, to as many kids as possible. too many people have forgotten the lessons Mr Rogers taught us years ago.
I may not have been around long enough to witness this man much but he was my favorite show when I was little and I miss him :( I miss the little puppets and I miss hearing the little train. RIP Mr Rogers, forever in my heart
Preach it :'(
I can't help but think that Mr.
Hearing his voice almost never fails to make me tear up 🥺 I love Mister Rogers so much
