Your "Extraordinarily Hard Games" videos have inspired me to try tackling games that kicked my butt as a kid. I was actually thinking about giving the Ninja Gaiden NES trilogy a shot recently. Those games are SO fun, but so brutal!
This is an iconic NES game and deservedly so, it has really cool graphics and advanced gameplay for its time. Like almost every NES game out there it has only one difficulty setting, the "kick your ass" mode, but you got some serious ninja skills by going so far in the game in your first attempt. It's no wonder that the protagonist of this game is also called Ryu! Keep up the great work, I'm already looking forward to your next surprise in the series!
In NES Ghost N Goblins, the timer still ticks down as the key falls after defeating a boss. I have died to the timer waiting for a key to fall. In NES first Castlevania, a stray scythe can kill you after defeating Death. I have died to one, and watched in tears as the golden victory ball fell on Simon's corpse. See a pattern here?
This series is gonna go a long way toward making you a big star man. This is really entertaining watching you work toward overcoming these notoriously brutal games. I like to think I have a good eye for potentially great content creators, & am rarely off w/my intuition when i feel like someone is gonna be something special. W/your charisma, quick wit, & ability to catch on & master shit that most people would struggle w/for some time before getting a grasp on how to avoid getting constantly merked by the annoying nuances of these games, that btw, are often unfair, & in some cases so unfair & harsh w/the difficulty spikes that they're _almost_ broken, & some *never* truly adapt to it, where you on the other hand seem to thrive. I've been a fan of yours since you had like 50k subs, & i caught on to your talent & charm pretty quick, & have enjoyed vicariously watching your rise in popularity, & your growth as a creator from that point. It's been a pleasure, man. Keep doing what you're doing, & keep coming up w/these creative spins on the games you choose to play. I enjoy when you add in these stipulations & challenges for yourself that you come up w/while playing them as well; it adds a twist to the otherwise vanilla content, that brings on elements of suspense & something different/unique to your vids. I would even enjoy seeing you do like, video essays or critiques including your gameplay footage, in the vain of guys like _Dunkey,_ The _Nerd,_ or even more serious critiques like Mike Mataei, & Joseph Anderson are known for. As long as you stay genuine & don't try to be _someone_ you're not or try to portray some weird persona like some of these guys do - I'm not saying it hasn't/doesn't work for some, but it would just be _especially_ bizarre when i've come to know your personality so well, & i'd feel weird & uncomfortable watching you portray some _character_ when _I_ know it's an act... After the illusion is shattered, it just starts to get confusing & kind of off-putting... So don't let this rising fame & popularity get to your head, & change you into 1 of these attention whores, who base their whole lives on view-counts & subscribers, pandering to their childish braindead followers w/ _everything_ they upload. That's just not you man, & i'd *hate* to see you turn into that. Keep doing you, be genuine & honest, & you'll keep gaining, while maintaining your OG fans (AKA this guy especially), & you'll have the pride & self-respect that comes w/not selling out by being true to yourself, my dude. It would be really disappointing to see you do the contrary. *Oh! And If i may* - I'd like to make a few suggestions: _Road Rash_ for _Sega Genesis_ (i believe you & your audience would find it utterly _hilarious,_ *while* being extraordinarily difficult in the later stages of the game as well), _Ikaruga_ for _Dreamcast, F-Zero GX_ for _Gamecube, Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse, Shinobi_ for _PS2, Devil May Cry III: Dante's Awakening_ (1 of my personal top 5 favorite games of all time, btw), & while you're at it, the 2004 _Ninja Gaiden,_ which i owned & loved at 1 point, but was *never* able to complete. I would love to see you play any of those at some point, & adding some of the newer _extra-difficult_ games to the series would be a nice change of pace after all the retro stuff. Thanks for taking the time to read, & i look forward to the next 1.
Well that's kind of a dumb thing to get hung-up on, considering it's a very minuscule _"toot"..._ I was only referring to a useless ability to see the good/greatness in certain people... It's not even _"bragging",_ really; it's stating a character trait i possess. like, who cares if someone says they're a good judge of character? It's not like i said _"as a guy w/a huge cock, i know talent when i see it"..._ That's a pretty silly, & petty little thing to criticize me for, there Pat, but i appreciate your input, i guess.
Right? _Road Rash_ is such a fucking fun, & underrated game man, but i never see any videos of people playing it; What's w/that? Getting hit w/chains & crowbars by dudes name _Spike,_ or _Rancid,_ all while trying to avoid random cows, street signs, & oncoming traffic, who'll curse you out & call you shitty insults as they drive by, all while doing 180 mph on a freeway or country road... buying the right bikes & parts later in the game to keep up w/the _flawless_ riding of the guys who bogart 1st place until you perfect that track... man i got _sooo_ fucking *hooked* on that game as a kid. I was *obsessed* w/beating it, & it took me several months to get good enough to beat the later races. I absolutely *loved* that game, & i *really* hope Ryu takes an interest in my suggestion, because it would make such a fucking fun video...
Everything Ryukahr plays now pails in comparison to that super fast section at the end of the oven section in SRW2. My eyes couldn’t keep up with that crazy fast platforming. None the less - loving the series dude, bringing back some awesome memories 👌🏻
This 'extraordinarily hard games' series has just turned into *'Ryu messes about having fun with games he always wanted to play as a kid but never did so let's do it now and pretend it's a challenge'* series.. And I have to say, I'm loving it lol! *Edit* 18:01 better keep up the pretence :D Goddamn I love this channel..
He's 100% sandbagging. He knows where his money comes from. People want to see him beat the game, but they want to see the game beat him first. When he died from sinking after beating the boss? C'mon... he knew he was losing a life there. He just also knew it'd make for good content if it happened.
And FWIW I don't care that he sandbags. He's entertaining to watch and beats games I like to see played but don't have time/desire/patience to grind out myself. I'm not the type to watch every video a channel puts out then dive into the comments section to complain about all the videos I just voluntarily watched...
Interestingly, in the Japanese version, enemies deal less damage, checkpoints are more generous, and there are infinite continues. The Japanese Battletoads is also slightly easier.
A few things for your stream when you beat this. Enemies don't respawn in 3, kill things at good angles from above or below them. You can farm that 1 up in level 6, just backtrack a screen it'll reappear. There's other lives/items you can farm, some screens allow backtracking. Great video, NG3 is great, so is 1...less so 2.
Heeeere we go. Was just playing this the other day and was thinking "man, Ryu should put this on his extraordinarily hard games series, would love to watch that". POOF. Wish granted
The music is this game was my favorite of the original trilogy, and in terms of difficulty this one is the toughest of the three with the first Ninja Gaiden being the second toughest and then the second Ninja Gaiden being the third toughest. That’s my order of the difficulty, everyone will probably have different difficultly levels of the three. When many Gamers were kids (my old ass self included) and had the original Ninja Gaiden on NES we felt like Master Ninjas after passing it, and it wasn’t easy and fast, it took a pretty long while to beat the original and this one and when I finally did, I felt unstoppable. (Then I got and played the original Double Dragon on NES)Thanks for playing this game Ryu, it brought back great memories and I am loving the fact that you are taking the challenges of very tough games on different systems from various different generations, alongside your Mario Maker challenges.(You should give Splatterhouse 3 a try on Sega Genesis, it was pretty tough and it is a fun game with awesome tunes as well.)
NG3 is the best in the series, has the best music, the best stages, the best story either people suggesting games have a great taste or Ryu has it by picking the best games in series, like Contra 3
I have to say that I've been excited watching every one of these and played most of these as a kid (and eventually went back to beat them in adolescence), but one game that I'd love to see you touch that doesn't get enough recognition for how hard it is is "Xexyz" for NES. The music is rockin' too.
I love how the best "looking at the castle" scene was in NG1. Great visual and he actually looked like a buff ninja. In NG2/NG3 he looks like a dainty twig.
I've beaten Ninja Gaiden 3 NES many times on NES and on Wii U virtual console. To ryukahr and those who played Ninja Gaiden 3. As you know this game actually isn't as hard as Ninja Gaiden 1, 2 were. Even though your player can take double damage and have 5 limited continues. This game is a bigger improvement with a sword upgrade and if you kill the enemies, they don't respawn unlike Ninja Gaiden 1, 2. Where they constantly respawn. Although you have to do alot of jumping and dodging. A helpful hint, you can get unlimited 1ups on Stage 6-2B where the 1ups are hanging, grab it and backtrack to the room 6-2A and then go back again and the 1up can reappear, you can get up to 9 extra lives. The part on 7-2B where you have to jump on a moving platform, quickly jump way over 2 electrical currents to avoid them completely which is much easier than trying to jump or go under the second one and quickly grab the upper platform, the fireball barrier makes it easier. Also on Stage 7-2D you can get unlimited 1 ups by getting 1ups near the end of the level and then backtrack to 7-2C and then 7-2D. You can do it to get unlimited health potions on stage 5 on 5-1C by backtracking to 5-1B and then 5-1C. I'm Sorry you didn't win the game ryukahr. I hope you make a part 2 of this video, you can win this game.
I know this seems obvious, but I'm loving this playlist because you are extremely good at games (which I'm a little envious of) but you also keep your cool so well! I'd be absolutely rage quitting my arse off, swearing things that would make a criminal blush.
Wtf? You got so ripped off at 24:15 during that boss fight! That was some huge b.s man! I mean, Literally NOTHING even touched you bro! I really dig this series. It's in my top 2 favorite current series on UA-cam right now! It's awesome and so frustrating but in a good way, watching you take on these super difficult games every week. Thank you for doing this!
When I was abut 6 years old, every Saturday my dad would play this game and I'd watch. I think act 3 was always where I got stuck. I think he would get to about a5 or 6 before it was my bedtime. We never finish the game. We would always leave it on and he would try to play the next morning before we would go to church. It was always frozen. That's still one of my favorite childhood memories.
I laughed so hard on stage 5-2 when you ran out of time and died. I have beat a lot of the toughest NES games. Battletoads, Turtles 1, Zelda 2 to name a couple. But I have never beat this one. Had to subscribe by the way. Very entertaining!
You are so good at video games. you deserve all of the credit that you get for being a master. I would love to see you master a fighting games and to to professional tournaments.
Omg the nostalgia i usel to play all these hardgames but never got far. Only game i beat is mega man. Love How u play old games realt inspiringvkeep up the awesome work and stay awesome!
The advantage of being sent so far back when you die is that you get another shot at the extra life pick-ups. As long as you can reach and actually get the extra life, you effectively get a do-over.
Act 7 strategy: once you get the invincibility flame wheel, then just keep using it while you rush through the rest of Act 7, getting no other weapon. There's enough chi power-ups and chi maxes to get you through it all. If you can conserve any chi for the boss fights, you can use it for the first incarnation of Clancy (you don't really NEED it for the 2nd or 3rd, but it helps). You're welcome.
“Can’t count me out until it’s all over. Ok, it’s all over.” “Watch out that extremely slow laser is chasing me.” Lmao! Sorry you didn’t beat it, but good job.
Ideas for games you can play: Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest La-Mulana KGB (aka The Conspiracy) Frozen Synapse Wizardry IV Riven (sequel to Myst) King's Quest 4 Discworld 1 UFO: Terror From The Deep Mushihimesama Battle Kid and Battle Kid 2 Wings of Vi I Wanna Be The Boshy Volgarr the Viking God Hand Weaponlord Ikaruga The Immortal Contra: Hard Corps, Super C (sequel to Contra) Battletoads on the Gameboy (completely new game, not a port) Battletoads in Battlemaniacs on SNES
Don’t know if this game is up your alley, but Crystalis was a great game, I didn’t think it was hard personally, but I have friends that, to this day, have yet to complete it.
I don't know why this game stuck in my head when I never played it. I looked it up and what I used to play was The G.G. Shinobi II. That game was my jam.....why did I think it was called Ninja Gaiden?
Fell n love with ninja gaiden the 1st time i played it on nes.it was by accident by a friend lending me his game n me lending him zelda.i beaten all the series ever since..use 2 fiend on this sucker right after school😂 cuz back then u had no saves!! N i hated when i use 2 run outa time!!!😁
this game somehow really reminds me of Actraiser. I think that game would also be perfect for this series! Maybe even just the 2nd one on the SNES, it's simpler and shorter but still really damn hard.
It was a hard game but I can't put it as one of the hardest, this is due to the fact I beat it when I was 9, I remember pulling hair playing Ghosts n Goblins and Battletoads (tried to beat without warps), another game that I owned but couldn't finish was the adventures of bayou billy, that game was brutal.
My opinion on the NES Ninja Gaiden Trilogy 1 - Very hard and a relatively good game. 2 - Hard, but only very hard in parts. The best game of the trilogy by a long shot though. 3 - The hardest game of the trilogy. Only a little harder than 1 though. Probably the worst game though of the trilogy. Still props for you playing this. I've played them all and finished them all. Here's how I found them all difficulty wise. 1 - Apart from a few specific jumps, in the 2nd part of stage 2 and 2nd part of stage 3 and a couple of other places, the game is not too hard actually. I think you'd be able to clear it with little issue. 2 - There's no super hard jumps, everything can be planned out and beaten with some thought. The last boss though you can beat one part of it, then die, game over, redo the last stage and then you start at the poss part you are up to, don't have to re-do final bozz parts you've already beaten. You'd beat this relatively easily too. 3 - The hardest game as you've seen. The checkpoint placings here are really strangely placed and how you go back so far in stages when you die. Also some of the general stage designs are just harder. This game is beatable just takes some practice. If you have time, I'd seriously recommend you play the 2nd game. If not on the channel, then just for your own enjoyment. It's really good and my favourite of the trilogy. The music of 2 is even better than 3 too.
Awesome video as usual, especially the ending. Have you considered playing one of the Castlevania games in this series? I loved all the games for the NES. And when i was a young lad, those games kicked my butt. Especially Castlevania 3, which i think was the hardest. I would love to see one of the games here!
Your "Extraordinarily Hard Games" videos have inspired me to try tackling games that kicked my butt as a kid. I was actually thinking about giving the Ninja Gaiden NES trilogy a shot recently. Those games are SO fun, but so brutal!

Games Arent this hard anymore they should make harder games
This series had the best cut scenes of all nes titles.
That mountain top cut scene was extremely beautiful, and on the NES no less!

Me: That's a pretty Anime boy
Ryu: What a creepster
....but you're a girl so your views are different..
The advantage of being sent so far back when you die is that you get another shot at the extra life pick-ups. As long as you can reach and actually get the extra life, you effectively get a do-over.
That ending was like getting beat up by Rocky, and then going back to your middle school bully to take your anger out on them
That was so awesome!!! I grew up on these games. I love this new segment 👍👍👍👍
I just want to say this is an amazing idea for a youtube video series, keep up the good work
I've been waiting for this one, knew it had to be coming soon! Haha
making it to act 7 with 3 continues on your first time playing this game is pretty impressive.
“Can’t count me out until it’s all over. Ok, it’s all over.”
“Watch out that extremely slow laser is chasing me.”
Lmao!
Sorry you didn’t beat it, but good job.

"Who is that? He looks like a punk!"
Says the guy with the exact same hair cut! Shave that beard and Ryu is in the game! 😂😂😂
i love this series! reminds me of all the games that destroyed me and my dad as i was growing up
Ryu dude, you are an absolute legend, you made this game look so easy!
You dying after getting one ups reminded me of Grand Poo dying after each checkpoint
When you said "what the fudge is that thing" I lost it
Should definitely play the old toy story game on the snes, short level but man that game is hard
25:25 The face of victory turning into defeat. I laughed so hard.
Love this series, I would suggest the game zombie ate my neighbors.
That game is so much fun, but very difficult.
From what I see, limited lives aside, this game really seems a lot easier than the first, the bosses especially!
Love that intro! Gives me a Megaman vibe!
Yes! Love this series thank u Ryu for playing as your namesake
23:30 5 enemies spwan directly above Ryu(kahr) and body him. I'm sorry I laughed at that xD
Yes!!! I was hoping you were going to play this one.
Look at the size of the head of that embryo creature in the wall compared to Ryu!
25:33 - legit LOL. You owe me a new monitor, Ryu!

This series kicks ass.
I would love to see you do another episode one day and beat Ninja Gaiden 3!!
Ryu Hayabusa! Dope Street fighter and Sick bike! what a name!!!!
I love this series so much
Don’t know if this game is up your alley, but Crystalis was a great game, I didn’t think it was hard personally, but I have friends that, to this day, have yet to complete it.
Gg on Ninja Gaiden 1 I disagree on Ninja Gaiden 3 you should have got that one up it would have made all the difference
"He looks like a punk look at that haircut" uhhhhhhh hey uhh Ryu...
I don't know why this game stuck in my head when I never played it. I looked it up and what I used to play was The G.G. Shinobi II. That game was my jam.....why did I think it was called Ninja Gaiden?
please play Zelda 2
Fell n love with ninja gaiden the 1st time i played it on nes.it was by accident by a friend lending me his game n me lending him zelda.i beaten all the series ever since..use 2 fiend on this sucker right after school😂 cuz back then u had no saves!! N i hated when i use 2 run outa time!!!😁
2:55 slowest moving enemy in the world, Ryu gets hit by it.
It’s so weird how I like watching you play games, you’re fucking hilarious 🤣 you definitely seem like you’d be fun to play multiplayer with LOL
Knew Ninja Gaiden would make it. I would Love to see Fester's Quest!
The slowest moving enemy in video game history he says, right before he gets hit by it. Lol
everytime " I just need some health" was said he dies immediately
“As far as the storyline goes, there’s some dude named Clancy who seems like an asshole…” 🤣
I'm sorry man, I feel bad... I never laughed so hard in my life as I did when you died in the quick sand after beating the boss in act 6. Lol
this game somehow really reminds me of Actraiser. I think that game would also be perfect for this series! Maybe even just the 2nd one on the SNES, it's simpler and shorter but still really damn hard.
Yea my favorite series. Good luck Ryu. Just started your video.
Please keep this series going!!!
Love that boss rush ending
Next
Batman (NES)
My opinion on the NES Ninja Gaiden Trilogy
1 - Very hard and a relatively good game.
