What I love the most about this episode is actually how they show how caring Liko and Amethio are to their Pokemon! When Terapagos fell unconscious after destroying the Rakurium, Liko immediately rushed to Terapagos to retrieve him, and while a little awkward, she kept very intense eye contact with Spinel, showing how protective she is towards Terapagos Amethio also shows a lot of care for his Ceruledge! When he is about to chase after Spinel, the first thing he does is ask if Ceruledge is okay with his decision and if he can still fight! And right before running into the cave, Amethio stops Ceruledge to see if anything is happening before nodding towards his Pokemon and heading in first. Then when Ceruledge's reach falls on one knee after trying to break the rocks, Amethio shows worries and lets his Pokemon rest! It’s subtle moments like this that make this episode really special!❤
@@channelofnincha6139 it's kinda ironic since Umbreon require high friendship to evolve, so assuming Spinel did evolve Umbreon, it's mean that the Pokemon actually care for Spinel! I really want to know more if Spinel is more of a guy who will sacrefice everything for his "greater good" or a cold-blooded who will stab everyone in the back!
I love this plotline so much! After watching the anime my whole life it’s amazing to actually have something new and *adult* like this! Spinel is terrifying!
@@Pokeferlax You know what? I think Spinel hypnotized his umbreon to make it love him. Umbreon can only evolve through friendship and spinel… yeah. Spinel has already used hypnosis before, and maybe he experimented on it in order to remove its dark typing and hypnotist it, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he killed its original owner. Poor umbreon! You should join Amethio’s team.
@@eliaskyriakou6253 I still feel like Hunter J, Lysandre, and several of the movie villains were worse, but we're probably around the middle of the series, if not like a third in. He's definitely got PLENTY of time to catch up, and I hope he does. Make him completely irredeemable beyond what we've seen already.
No he is not hunter J, fabu, ghetsis, Giovanni has done everything that spinel has done and done it better fabu erased Lillie memories for years till it got triggered. Giovanni experiment on Pokémon and made a Pokémon.
The pink air/gas (the rakurium) that Spinnel uses is the same as the one that appears in "Pokémon: Detective Pikachu", and it has the same effect. Has anyone noticed that?
I'm not the only person who thought of the movie Pokemon Detective Pikachu, right? Strange smoke turns Pokemon berserk, the substance the smoke comes from starts with an R...
I'm not exactly one of the 'ash isn't in it' people, I tried to give it a shot but it just fell off fairly early on for myself, and from what I hear of Roy I'm just not interested in how his character acts. That being said, I enjoy hearing about the summaries here! I'm certain the series has improved a bunch since I've attempted watching it, but it's fine. Enjoy watching it!
I can already see Spinel to be the true final villains that wants to be the leader of the Explorers, by dethroning or even commits murder to Gibeon, so he could take over world basically being a mixture of Cyrus and Ghetsis.
I can definitely see this too! I think Spinel’s ambitions will get larger and larger and he’ll continue to prioritise himself & his goals/ideas more and more… until even Gibeon will be beneath him
Man just legit condemned Amethio (and Liko) to a slow death by starvation if they can't get out of that cave with a smile on his face, huh? Spinel is such a loathsome antagonist, but that's what makes him so fun.
@@Maypril1894 This is true. That fire they made doesn't help, since it consumes oxygen. It's also probably very cold in the cave, so It's either death by freezing, starvation, or asphyxiation.
It feels so incredible to have an anipoke villain who ACTUALLY feels threatening and evil! Spinel is willing to go to any extreme, and he has the brains to back it up too!
@@Pokeferlax the worst thing is not he did an unethical experiment with his own pokemon or letting amethio died in that cave, but letting liko, a litteral kid, died in that cave, is a very serious crime ngl, he attempt murder to a kid!, he's fine to do it!, he's insane!. In my country, that man can get a death sentence for sure.
the rakurium effect makes me kinda think of what was described with shadow pokemon back in pokemon colosseum and XD gale of darkness, it was never fully established what team snag did to create the shadow pokemon beyond some very vage hints
Spinel is straight up just a psycho. He will do anything for personal gain. He hypnotized an 11-year old girl in an alleyway, planned to kill the grandson of their team's boss, and even went as far as to drug his Umbreon! An Umbreon is a friendship evolution, and he nonchalantly drugged it, his friend. Spinel is insane.
I haven't seen anyone comment about the irony of Spinel using Rakurium on Umbreon, since Umbreon is a Pokémon that evolves via friendship. I always felt like Umbreon was the odd one out of Spinel's Pokémon. Beheeyem and Magneton make sense since Spinel is smart and is somewhat like Colress in the games in B2W2 Umbreon just doesn’t fit with Spinel's character unless it's connected to Spinel's past. So until we get Spinel's past, my opinion on Umbreon on his team will remain the same.
@@Sandokiri Cyrus makes sense since we know his childhood, he was able to get along with Pokemon and it was mostly the humans that isolated him. Spinel.... is a completely different story.
In some moments that Spinel appeared planning something with Umbreon, it seemed happy as he petted he/her. It happened a few times. I think he is a monster, but a monster that care about his pokémon. Or at least used to
This is exactly what I think too! Grusha will witness Liko getting through this chaos and will change his mind. It makes so much sense. A lot of folks got impatient and assumed the Grusha story arc was finished but it’s not! We just need to hold on a little longer and watch it unfold 😁
Kind of feel bad for Amethio, it seems like the other Admins just flat out outcast him. Like Spinel trying to screw him over and trap him in cave is one thing, but here we have Chalce going along with it no problem and Sidian and Coral helping along too. Between this and them excluding him from the previous operation makes me wonder why they antagonize him so much? Coral once called him "Pampered" so perhaps they just don't like him getting family privilege? Also curious about the aggression Torapagos shows Amethio, my guess its likely the resemblance to Grandpa Gibeon.
@@maniacguy7899 It because amethio is gibeon favorite/golden grandchild amethio has 2 personal henchmen/guards and he got a Tera orb while the others get nothing. They want gibeon to notice them we really need more backstory on them but I do think the others are also gibeon grandkids and they are amethio siblings or cousins depending on how many kids gibeon had.
Hmm a mechanic that makes Pokémon scarier and more powerful; almost turning them into different creatures locking up their hearts. Would love a game about that stuff!😂 (I know Colosseum and XD exists, guys. That’s the joke.)
Actually Rakurium reminds me of R from the first detective pikachu video game actually. Quite clever and awesome for an episode from this new pokemon anime. Imagine a Dusk form lycanroc getting exposed to Rakurium. Oh boy he be way more aggressive and evil. Then any other pokemon in my opinion of course.
I feel sorry for that Umbreon, having a trainer that doesn’t care about its well being. It’s just like the Lugia episodes in Johto, forcing a Pokemon to be really mad.
Pokeferlax's prediction about Lucius and Terapagos trying to destroy Rakurium and its evil effects, and Gibeon trying to preserve it for his own selfish reasons might come true in some way or another.
If Spinel ends up getting another Rakurium (Laqurium) shard, imagine if he uses in on Captain Pikachu to make him go feral and attack Friede. Now, that could get anyone on the edge of their seats! 🔥
I think Pokémon still listen to their trainers even under the Rakurium influence. That’s why Umbreon only attacked Ceruledge which was what Spinel wanted it to do
7:28 Let me add something to your theory. There’s no way Lucius could have known about Rakua and the Rakurium before actually discovering them and even if he somehow did since he discovered Rakua he would have already destroyed all the Rakurium. What I think is that Lucius discovered the Rakurium and he decided to hid Rakua from everyone because he knew what could happen if the Rakurium fall into the wrong hands. The Rakurium is also probably why the explorers went from Lucius’ allies to his enemies as they probably wanted to use the Rakurium for their benefit. That’s why Terapagos gets upset every time he sees Amethio because he recognises him as a relative of Gibeon(or whoever was the explorers leader at the time) who betrayed Lucius.
GREAT EPISODE! Might even say this is one of my favourites in this series! I swear, Spinel is 100% the most insane and evil villain Pokémon has ever created, going as far as to use his partner as a test subject (which btw HAD ME STUNNED, the effects of Rakurium is so horrifying dude! Poor Umbreon 😭) and literally trying to eliminate Amethio?!? Damn, this episode was incredible!
Spinel is doing all this against Gibeon. There's no way Gibeon would be happy to hear if the Rakua goals involving killing his grandson. Spinel and the rest of the Explorers except Amethio have really stepped out of line
Idk why but I think that this whole infiltration plan was Spinel's. He had Sango and Onyx act as students and monitor Liko, which would fulfil Gibeon's orders, and Agate as a teacher to fetch some information or whatever they want, helping him in his research. I feel the higher ups like Hamber are still unaware of this.
If you think about it the fact that he made his umbreon go berserk can potentially be even more disturbing, because umbreon is a friendship evolution so if he evolved it then he did something quite horrible to a Pokémon that completely trust him
Rakurium seriously giving me shadow pokemon vibes from the old colosseum game! (think it shows up elsewhere too but) Actually had a rare chance to watch a full episode and maaaaan, this was exciting!
I just watched the English dub of this episode right now, and I agree that this was pretty dark. Plus, I feel that Spinel is really becoming the Pokémon anime series equivalent of Azula from _Avatar: The Last Airbender_ . Overall, I give this episode a 10/10.
Haven’t commented on a video in a while, but I wanted to leave some notes about this. I was never the most invested in Gym battles or anything of that sort but I have some takeaways from this video you might be interested in: -The so-called “Rakurium” immediately reminds me of the R gas from Detective Pikachu in its name, design, and function. I’m not saying the two are connected necessarily, but the similarities are there and I wouldn’t be surprised if that was an inspiration point for this episode. -I’ve heard more than a few people compare Amethio to Zuko from Avatar: The Last Airbender, and… yep, I can definitely see that. What’s interesting is that the parallels aren’t just with him, though. They both have an evil relative leading their group (Gibeon and Ozai), they both wanted to find and capture something (Terapagos and the Avatar), and if you squint really hard, Terapagos’s transformation(s) could be seen as a direct parallel to the Avatar State. I’m starting to think this was all intentional… -Getting stuck in a cave with someone is a surprisingly common Pokémon anime episode trope, and generally speaking one of three things happens each time. I’m trying really hard to resist saying what I could see this next episode doing (don’t think too hard into this), but in a much more likely will probably just be an episode where the two of them talk about a common goal of theirs and have their conflict turn into more of a respected rivalry, not unlike some of Ash’s rivals from his tenure with the show.
its been in second place at this point in xy all we had for team flares business was the mega evolution specials rhey hadnt even been introduced to the main plot yet it was were still on the badge quest train note the explorers have been active in the plot SINCE EPISODE 1
5:48 This reminds me of Detective Pikachu if you remember with the R gas it also made Pokemon go berserk and aggressive and also made them change a bit only with the eye but still I got that kind of vibe.
You know, you have to love how subtle the details are with these characters. Spinel since the very beginning I could tell was a bit crazy. The fact that he decided to use that crystal on his own Pokemon despite not knowing entirely of what it could do, is sinister. Plus that smile he gave when Terapagos was shown... But, you do have the remember of something; he owns a Umbreon. Meaning he that an Eevee at one point acquired so much friendship that it evolved.
I’ve adored Umbreon ever since its inception because it’s exactly the type of Eevee I’d have in real life, so seeing it abused like this HURTS. To do that to a Pokémon that evolves through emotional bonds is horrific. I usually enjoy the villains, but not this one.
I really want to see Umbreon turn on Spinel, or someone to steal Umbreon off of Spinel & cure him like in the GC Shadow Pokémon games. Who does that to their own Pokémon, ESPECIALLY one who loved & trusted him?
@@Alcremie869 They all were in different kinds of pain, some worse than others, but I believe it was Gyarados & Lucario that become emotionally void & violent. But it looks like this stuff Spinel used made the Pokémon IRREVERSIBLY in pain.
hello i am a new viewer of pokemon horizons, but i have been playing pokemon since 1995 and my first day of school was the first episode of pokemon airing in Australia. i am now 33 years old and i love your alolan vulpix character!, so cute!😊
You just saying "Unalive" a bunch was very funny. But anyway, it was generally a pretty good and enjoyable episode i'd say, can't wait too see the next episode where hopefully Amethio joins the good guys!
theory: regarding how the explorers used to be lucius’ friends, maybe they found rakua together and upon seeing what happens with exposing rakua to pokemon, they grew apart being opposed to each other’s views. maybe lucius expelled his friends after he caught them abusing the rakurium to strengthen their pokemon.
Liko and Tarapagos reminds me of Bonnie, Clemet, Ash and Serena in Pokémon XYZ as they protected the good Zygard core nicknamed Squishy. Lysander of course used the other corer for evil purposes and experiments just as the Horizons evil ones are doing with that crystal substance.
Gibeon and Amethio probably have "not good" plans cooking, but Spinel and Chalce have something actually evil going on. Coral and Sidian are probably just following the "money" or looking for opportunity, unsure of what's happening behind the scenes. I'm not sure where Hamber sits in the grand scheme, but I think Zirc and Onia will be absolutely loyal to Amethio above all else. Zirc and Onia will probably jump ship with Amethio, whenever that happens. Then, we need a beach episode where Orla, Mollie, and Onia constantly try to one-up each other. And then, just because, Coral and Chalce arrive to show off their stuff too.
Man your theory makes a lot of sense! That even explains why the Six Heroes didn't follow Lucius in Laqua! Which never made sense to me, but now it does, if they go near Rakurium they'll go crazy!
I've got a theory about Rakurium and Gibeon, is it possible that Gibeon and Lucius were alive at the same time and Gibeon is staying alive with the power of Rakurium? it stands out to me that Gibeons design has a lot of pink in it while the rest of the Explorers is grey, NTM we know he's actively looking for more of it
So we finally know what the Rakurium does. No wonder the Explorers want it so badly if it's able to boost power to insane levels But idk why they want Terapagos if it's able to destroy the Rakurium, which is what they also want. It seems counter intuitive
It's likely they believed Terapagos was the creator of Raquarium and they didn't know about Terapagos being opposed to Raqua all this time and when that discovery was made in that episode, Spinel stopped giving chase to Terapagos and isn't even care what happens later to it when it got trapped with Liko and Amethio in the Cave
Considering how each of the Pokemon alot of the main characters have as their primary/ace seem to match their personalities - its no wonder that Spinel is this sinister when his main pick is Beheyeem which is known for strange stuff like, I dunno, messing with peoples memories
Imagine if this whole thing leads up to a new mythical Pokémon, like Zygarde in XYZ (I know that Zygarde was already seen in X and Y, and that it isn't a *mythical* Pokémon. But the movies don't relate to the overall plot of the Kalos anime so Zygarde is the best example) Maybe like an anti-Terapagos that can be introduced in a later game?
Just wanted to say that I love your Alolan Vulpix Narrator animations so much. Giving it the sharp pointy teeth and sinister eyes while talking about the Rakurium and Umbreon was such a nice little touch. Appreciate all your hard work and love your videos!!!
Hopefully in next weeks episode Amethio might say or give a hint to the explorers’s goal and what they want with terapagos. Or what exactly do they want with rakium? Do want to conquer like team rocket or create a new world like Team Flare or even use Rakium as an Energy source like Rose with Eternatus.
@@eljordinio7647 I don't think pokemon will go that dark, but it would be cool to see that you are redesigning Lumious City due to a pokemon war influenced by rakrium destroying the city
4:56 reminds me of when aipom was covered with that purple mist in pokemon detective pikachu movie and how it made them go beserk maybe its the same substance???
i dont think we’re ready for when this happens and for the first time ever in anipoke we get a subtitle reading along the lines of “they think im dead”
Having these two be trapped together in a cave is giving me serious "airbender " vibes and if they end up bonding in the next episode. . .i swear ill eat a Capsakid seed 🤣
A cool headcannon for horizons is that the ancient adventurer Lucius is trapped inside a giant hunk of rakuium like aang trapped in ice from avatar. And terapagos wants to go to laqua to rescue him from the rakuium or the “eternal blessing”. He probably released the 6 heroes because he knew the power it holds and didn’t want them to get hurt or controlled. He also knew that terapagos was the only one who could destroy the rakuium so they went to laqua to try to destroy it but somehow he got trapped and without him or the 6 heroes, terapagos lost its power and became the pendant. Maybe someone related to Lucius found the pendant and passed it down every generation until Diana found it. And maybe Lucius can somehow connect to liko and anyone around her with the pendant/terapagos. It would explain how they see his memories in that pink mist whenever they meet each of the 6 heroes besides rayquaza as of now. Probably because it doesn’t trust liko and Roy yet. But either way, can’t wait to see where this goes!
Some may know what I'll be referring to but the item Spinel used on Umbreon to make it stronger and basically savage/wild reminds me of the old games where shadow Pokémon are a thing. Say Pokémon colosseum for example or Pokémon ranger games too if I remember right. Like,in those games Pokémon can turn and act this way if mistreated or when coming into contact with shadow Cristal's. In Pokémon colosseum a stone and Celebi being the ones to purify Pokémon again. Idk,this scene took me back to those old games where they implemented a similar idea/concept and I found it quite interesting and cool! (Adding, shadow Pokémon are also said to be much stronger than they'd usually be no matter the typing they go against if I remember this right too. I haven't played these games in years :'])
Spinel began his run through shorting out the Rising Volt Tacklers ship following with luring Liko into a trap and messing with her memory. Then he tries to fight Friede in an enclosed space followed by stealing protected lab samples. Now he uses that lab sample just to see the kind of reaction Terrapagos would have for it. What Spinel stole is basically a drug that can make pokemon go into a frenzy and he now knows Terrapagos can get rid of its' effects. Amethio even now has been all for fair play like a rival trainer than an enemy which to the other Explorers only hinders their plans and that divide has reached the boiling point where Spinel and to extension Agate, Obsidian, and Sango wants Amethio dead and I can see them turning on Gibeon and the butler if they get in the way. I imagine Grusha seeing what is going on will realize the kind of threat Liko has been dealing with and why she is taking the Terrastalize Course. Then there is Liko taking initiative and helping Amethio escape the cave will itself be a defining moment for Liko finally fighting back. Grusha after this will decide to give Liko another chance pass seeing that she is willing to face her enemies. As for Amethio, I imagine this betrayal will not sit well with him as he will continue to fight clean.
This gave the Volcanion movie vibes don't you think? I say this as she Rakurium was used on Umbreon it kind of gave the same effect on the personality of the Pokémon as the evil mega evolution but it more resembles R gas from the detective Pikachu movie plus they have almost identical colours and the effect is actually almost the same if not the SAME. Also the fact that R gas begins with R but we do not know the name but Rakurium also starts with R and we do know the name hence forming more similarities hence Rakurium could just be R gas from the movie and hence the detective Pikachu movie and Hz could be set in the same dimension but just different times maybe years ago in the movies timeline and later in Hz Timeline as Rakua is pretty old in the anime( Tell your opinion on this in replies, not forcing) ❤❤❤ Anyways good review ❤
Or Terapagos caused it. (It can bring objects from different timelines, maybe the EB (Rakurium) was just an object it brought on accident.) Terapagos has proven to be…not the brightest, after all… No brain cells plus terrifying amounts of power equals “Oops! I accidentally brought something from that timeline into this timeline….hey look! A leaf!”
@@N.EO-Quartz Hmm, that is an interesting theory I must say but well you see, Terapagos was in a deep sleep for a really long time so it makes sense that this power is uncontrollable and what we know about Rakurium is that it was present in the past as well so I do respect your theory but am leaning towards it being wrong anyways thank you for telling your opinion on my theory♥️♥️♥️
The Explorers at this point are all Villains…and YES I’m ALSO considering Amethio. Doesn’t matter what Theyr’e goals are, doing so through crimes such as kidnapping, lie via false ID, Pokemon theft, mind manipulation, and just recently…murder DOES NOT justify their cause
Okay so if Rakurium makes pokemon become rageful and aggressive then what if, WHAT IF the Rakurium would be the twist reason why the paradise foreshadowed in Pokemon Legends Zygarde will be corrupted, because Rakurium is used somehow to flip everything from the End to a new beginning. That would be super cool if Horizons was building up to this hence why we aren't getting any real hints from game freak because they're giving the hints every saturday lol. if terapagos is the counter or balance, then maybe the mysterious A legendary has something to do with it? who knows.
Hey Pokeferlax great review on another latest episode of horizons really interesting twist and turns in this one and the part where Spinel made Umberon go crazy with the Rakurium reminds me of the episode where Team Plazma took control of both Reshiarm and Pikachu with their mind control device in the black and white series thanks for sharing this 👍❤️❄️🦊
Could the eternal blessing be a natural counter to Terastalization or Terastalization being a counter to it? Maybe it is a negative version of it, and maybe there is a Pokémon that could give off that Rakurium or Laquarium or whatever it is called in any other name. Anyway I wanna see some Liko and Amethio bounding time with both helping each other: Amethio giving her the courage to fight against Grusha And Liko to see that perhaps he doesn't have to be ruthless like Spinel and can make his Grandpa proud(she doesn't know him, so she might reget it, but it is still good for her to help him) I can't wait for it!!!
Spinel was a Psycho. Mentioning he wants Amethio gone was a very piece of evidence. And to the surprise of no one, the other admins were OK with his plan... My theory is: Spinel is Ghetsis' long lost son.
have you heard about shadow pokemon? There was an entire organization that tortured pokemon until their hearts closed off, making those pokemon more powerful but also berserk. And they kept doing it. Did it to at least one lugia even. So, hes bad news. Hes not the most evil character ever in pokemon: theres worse out there. So much worse...
Honestly the Rakurium seems to be something akin to turning Pokemon in Shadow Pokemon sort of. I may be reaching for a straw that isn't there. But I would love if the anime tackled the idea of Shadow Pokemon. Liko wants to understand pokemon's emotions. It feels sooo fitting.
I actually feel bad for Amethio here, he was betrayed by his own team. I can’t help but want to see what would happen if Zirc and Onia were to find out about this. Because they’re the only ones who seem to actually care about him. (I don’t know if Gibeon truly cares about his grandson, it’s hard to tell.) Plus, is anyone else kinda shipping Amethio and Liko here? Cause I kinda do… 😅
I ship Liko and Amethio to death. Kidding, but I just love the dynamic between them. How Amethio acknowledged her getting stronger since the last time they battled, where Floragato was a Sprigatito back then and Liko had little experience in terms of battle. That was a nice detail. Also after she followed him into the cave and he straight up tells her, to leave wich indicates, that Amethio doesn't want Liko to particularly getting involved with Spinel's crazy movements. That was very sweet of him, despite his harsh tone. Can't wait for the next episode, involving more interactions between them!! AmeLiko forever hehe!! 😅😊
Pretty sure that Gibeon does care about his grandson. The whole reason why Spinel and Chalce want to get rid of him is because Gibeon prefers Amethio because he is his grandson.
Maybe Spinel should join a more dangerous organization other than the Explorers in the future if there are new foes. This could be getting to become an XYZ epic vibes.
This was a great episode. Really good to see Amethio and Explorers again and I like his battle with Liko. She battled really well even without Tera, with type weakness and being in sour mood after L against Grusha. Even Amethio praised her growth and competence. Until Spinel arrived to tired Ceruledge and Floragato. Amazing and POS as always. Firstly using Rakurium on Umbreon for power up which, reminds me of Berserk Gene or R Gas. At least Terapagos heals him. Then wanting to kill Amethio by buring him and Liko in cave. I can see a picture, when even Gibeon will have some sort of redemption and Spinel will actually be the main villain of HZ with his ambitions. Next episode will definitely be interesting, but by seeing next titles make me think, that Grusha may pass Liko here without a fight.
So the Rakurium is a weapon, huh? I certainly didn't expect that. The psychotic Umbreon kind of reminds me of the Shadow Pokemon from Colosseum/Gale of Darkness games. Now that I think about it, why do some characters refer to Rakua as "paradise?" Like maybe it's the opposite of a paradise. Now it makes sense why they need Terapagos to go there. Because without Terapagos countering the Rakurium anyone who enters Rakua will lost it's sense of self and never come back. This alone could make the Explorers one of the most evil antagonists of the entire Pokemon universe. Most importantly, I really hope now Amethio starts to reconsider his allegiance; it may take a while, but he is surely bound to abandon the Explorers, right...
If a regular episode can get this dark, I wonder how dark a Halloween Special can be? I'd like to see blood and gore in a Pokemon Anime Episode. If Disney can make extremely dark halloween specials and story based TV Shows, I bet the Pokemon Anime could do the same. (Evil laughter)
@@JoloBondoc That episode is child's play. I want it to be extremely dark. Darker than that episode, and darker than this episode. Something as dark as Amphibia's Season 2 Finale "True Colors" and the Series Finale where Sasha gets slashed up her entire back. Maybe even darker
Holy shit what an episode! Things are heating up, from Spinel getting in the way between Liko/Amethio’s battle with the assistance of Agate, to Spinels scientific move, to Spinel trapping them in a cave as Terapagos destroyed that object, to Sandwhich 🥯 and Onigiri 🍙 cornering Roy and Dot!! Oh boy I’m super worried for Terapagos… after seeing how Umbreon changed I think Terapagos will turn evil at some point 😢
Even if that crystal is a retool of the beserk gene from gsc (and the thing from detective pikachu) I have an idea about why Terapagos could counter and completely destroy it. Terapagos in it's terastal form has the ability Teraform Zero which works as an extremely buffed cloud nine that effects not only weather, but terrain as well. Given the Rakurium is a crystal, and once used gives a gaseous effect, it's possible it functions like a terrain or weather condition for the context of the anime, which is why Terapagos can remove it's effects and destroy it
Finally another episode with Mr. Creepy McCreepface and Cruella-wannabe-hair. I also think it was nice to see the gap shrink between Liko and Amethio. And I'm calling it right now, Amethio will abandon the explorers in the future because he realises what they're doing is wrong. Can't wait for the bonding time between him and Liko next episode.
I like how next episode is gonna be liko and amenthio trying to get out and have to be forced to work together but if I was in an actual Pokémon battle in that situation as soon as ceruledge gets that boost screw the school rules I come first and I would not have followed spniel I am gone screw finding out what they doing I’ve got my stuff I need to worry about
I really wonder if that Umbreon was a Shadow pokemon. the episode name is "Creeping Shadow on [wherever it was]", it went berserk with a purple aura, we don't know how pokemon are turned shadow, so this crystal could be the source of it (and crystal/pokémon crystal could also be a reference to shadow lugia, idk.). And if they really brought shadow pokemons back... why? why now? are there gonna be shadow pokemons instead of Nobles/Alphas in Z-A, maybe? the boss of the Explorers does have a shiny Zygarde after all...
Yeah so it means there might be "might be" another pokemon that is kinda like terapagos but has this Rakuroum, man i hate to say this but this pokemon series is kinda better than the original like most of the series was filler but aside the episodes of pokemon evolving and catching and I theorising that Amethio might turn good "might"

The pink air/gas (the rakurium) that Spinnel uses is the same as the one that appears in "Pokémon: Detective Pikachu", and it has the same effect. Has anyone noticed that?
I was saying that when I first saw it happen I was like, “Bro that’s just R!”
Ahh yes the beserk gene
It makes the Pokemon go "berserk" and go on a wild rage. Kind of like the Berserk Gene in the games which raises attack by 2 but confuses the holder.
@@zacmayes2802 Yeah. In fact, in the Detective Pikachu game, it's stated that Berserk Gene is one of the key ingredients for R.

They could also suffocate if the oxygen runs out.
@@Maypril1894 This is true. That fire they made doesn't help, since it consumes oxygen. It's also probably very cold in the cave, so It's either death by freezing, starvation, or asphyxiation.

In my country, that man can get a death sentence for sure.
the rakurium effect makes me kinda think of what was described with shadow pokemon back in pokemon colosseum and XD gale of darkness, it was never fully established what team snag did to create the shadow pokemon beyond some very vage hints
The plot beeing more dark, spinel really mean to k*ll Amethio, that part make me feel this series is the only series built different💀💀
This is exciting my bro at least we got the fresh pokemon start not some ashy still 10 until 90 yrs
And not just any drug, that's an AWFUL trip.
Spinel is first overwhelming main antagonist
That was one of my immediate thoughts as well. "Spinel has just joined Cyrus in the group of, HOW DO YOU HAVE a friendship evolution, you monster?!"
Or at least used to
@@stormychaser3015 yeah because despite what seemed like a bond between the two, Spinel didn't hesitate to use it on Umbreon.

I have a feeling a rematch might not happen for a good while. But let’s hope so.
I think he will see how Liko handles this situation and her showing a new strength for Grusha to change his mind
Yeah, I think so too. Once he hears the full story and why they want to master terastalizing in the first place he could change his mind.
i mean if i failed a student and that failure led to perhaps the world ending id probably reconsider
This is exactly what I think too! Grusha will witness Liko getting through this chaos and will change his mind. It makes so much sense. A lot of folks got impatient and assumed the Grusha story arc was finished but it’s not! We just need to hold on a little longer and watch it unfold 😁
I am seriously wondering how Spinel was able to evolve an Eevee into an Umbreon, since it is very clear he has no love for it at all.
There is an umbreon spawn near the mountain. He probably already caught it as an umbreon
Also curious about the aggression Torapagos shows Amethio, my guess its likely the resemblance to Grandpa Gibeon.
jealousy more than likely

I really really hope so! It makes so much sense to me! 😁
Gibeon might be using it to power up his zygarde
Lol man idk if he is the lysandre 2.0 since he got shiny squishy
Maybe the creators are trying to bring shadow Pokemon in the anime through the rakurium crystal.
If Spinel ends up getting another Rakurium (Laqurium) shard, imagine if he uses in on Captain Pikachu to make him go feral and attack Friede. Now, that could get anyone on the edge of their seats! 🔥
Nice to see ya here man.
I personally think that is used to turn Terapagos into destruction like pure evil
it will be like pikachu attacking ash by getting mindcontrolled previously
Then Friede would have to fight his partner to break the crystal's hold on him
I think Pokémon still listen to their trainers even under the Rakurium influence.
Ooh, that actually makes sense.
Also, what about Terapagos? Don't they still need it? Spinel can't seriously be thinking about just leaving it in that cave.
If you think about it the fact that he made his umbreon go berserk can potentially be even more disturbing, because umbreon is a friendship evolution so if he evolved it then he did something quite horrible to a Pokémon that completely trust him
That Rakurium reminds me of that item in Gen 2 where it increase your attack but confuses you
Wasnt it called Berserk Gene?
By two stages yes. The Berserk Gene.
So u mean this rwkurium is the source of the beserk gene oops gen 10 beserk gene is back with new name I guess
Also giving slight Shadow pokemon vibes
or that one substance from the spinoff game detective pikachu
Rakurium seriously giving me shadow pokemon vibes from the old colosseum game! (think it shows up elsewhere too but)
Actually had a rare chance to watch a full episode and maaaaan, this was exciting!
I just watched the English dub of this episode right now, and I agree that this was pretty dark. Plus, I feel that Spinel is really becoming the Pokémon anime series equivalent of Azula from _Avatar: The Last Airbender_ . Overall, I give this episode a 10/10.
Amethio is overrated anti hero in pokemon horizons and pokemon xy journey
What?

@@glitchy_weasel no. The dub only has episodes 1-40. I think he means the sub
Do you mean sub?
Haven’t commented on a video in a while, but I wanted to leave some notes about this. I was never the most invested in Gym battles or anything of that sort but I have some takeaways from this video you might be interested in:
-The so-called “Rakurium” immediately reminds me of the R gas from Detective Pikachu in its name, design, and function.
I’m starting to think this was all intentional…
-Getting stuck in a cave with someone is a surprisingly common Pokémon anime episode trope, and generally speaking one of three things happens each time.
The Explorers are starting to seem even more dangerous than Team Flare at this point….
…Pokemon XYZ may have just gotten bumped down to second place.
its been in second place at this point in xy all we had for team flares business was the mega evolution specials rhey hadnt even been introduced to the main plot yet it was were still on the badge quest train
note the explorers have been active in the plot
SINCE EPISODE 1
Fair point. Guess it’s just nostalgia-remembering the times I discovered that there were other evil organizations besides Team Rocket.
And anime only evil organization and no rainbow f rocket
I haven't seen a monstrous transformation that kinda gave me chills since the False Groudon in the Jirachi movie. 😨
5:48 This reminds me of Detective Pikachu if you remember with the R gas it also made Pokemon go berserk and aggressive and also made them change a bit only with the eye but still I got that kind of vibe.
Detective pikachu is pokemon hybrid
@@leviristich5211 I know and this sense reminded me of it or the first game at least.
Or he caught a wild umbreon. Paldea has a few fully evolved eveelutions running around in the wild.
Mega evolution tortured most of the Pokémon that used it, and yet trainers still used it anyway
@@Alcremie869 They all were in different kinds of pain, some worse than others, but I believe it was Gyarados & Lucario that become emotionally void & violent. But it looks like this stuff Spinel used made the Pokémon IRREVERSIBLY in pain.

I was completely shocked by that. This is like the Berserk Gene.
11:03 - This is one of those moments where we really need a talking Meowth.
I miss Team Rocket... crazily enough
theory: regarding how the explorers used to be lucius’ friends, maybe they found rakua together and upon seeing what happens with exposing rakua to pokemon, they grew apart being opposed to each other’s views. maybe lucius expelled his friends after he caught them abusing the rakurium to strengthen their pokemon.
Then what about the shiny squishy it doesn't seem in pain or in control with someone
That’s a fantastic point! I really really hope we’re correct! 😁
No wonder the Explorers want it so badly if it's able to boost power to insane levels
But idk why they want Terapagos if it's able to destroy the Rakurium, which is what they also want.
Gibeon considers Terapagos to be the key to Rakua, whatever that means. So I'd say he definitely still needs it, no matter what Spinel thinks.
But the movies don't relate to the overall plot of the Kalos anime so Zygarde is the best example)
Maybe like an anti-Terapagos that can be introduced in a later game?
Amethio and Liko's battle was very similar to when Friede terastallized Charizard against Ceruledge in episode 25.
Yeah I love that parallel
Just wanted to say that I love your Alolan Vulpix Narrator animations so much. Giving it the sharp pointy teeth and sinister eyes while talking about the Rakurium and Umbreon was such a nice little touch. Appreciate all your hard work and love your videos!!!
Hopefully in next weeks episode Amethio might say or give a hint to the explorers’s goal and what they want with terapagos. Or what exactly do they want with rakium? Do want to conquer like team rocket or create a new world like Team Flare or even use Rakium as an Energy source like Rose with Eternatus.
the anime is opening up to darker territories and i'm loving it!!!
I wonder if Rakurium will be a big part of Legends: ZA, and the anime has been teasing it this whole time right in our faces

10:26 - Maybe after they escape, Amethio can use his “death” to his advantage and covertly sabotage the explorers.
i dont think we’re ready for when this happens and for the first time ever in anipoke we get a subtitle reading along the lines of “they think im dead”
I saved this video for dinner time so I could watch it while eating
And it appears that Rakurium is a pokemon steroid, good to know
Spinel began his run through shorting out the Rising Volt Tacklers ship following with luring Liko into a trap and messing with her memory.
That sounds like the R gas from detective pikachu or some gas form of making Shadow Pokemon
(It can bring objects from different timelines, maybe the EB (Rakurium) was just an object it brought on accident.)
Terapagos has proven to be…not the brightest, after all…
No brain cells plus terrifying amounts of power equals “Oops!
That would be super cool if Horizons was building up to this hence why we aren't getting any real hints from game freak because they're giving the hints every saturday lol. if terapagos is the counter or balance, then maybe the mysterious A legendary has something to do with it? who knows.
Hey Pokeferlax great review on another latest episode of horizons really interesting twist and turns in this one and the part where Spinel made Umberon go crazy with the Rakurium reminds me of the episode where Team Plazma took control of both Reshiarm and Pikachu with their mind control device in the black and white series thanks for sharing this 👍❤️❄️🦊
I’m just imagining using rakurium on a garchomp especially one that’s mega at that oh boy that thing gonna really be on a rampage
Could the eternal blessing be a natural counter to Terastalization or Terastalization being a counter to it? Maybe it is a negative version of it, and maybe there is a Pokémon that could give off that Rakurium or Laquarium or whatever it is called in any other name.
Anyway I wanna see some Liko and Amethio bounding time with both helping each other:
Amethio giving her the courage to fight against Grusha
And Liko to see that perhaps he doesn't have to be ruthless like Spinel and can make his Grandpa proud(she doesn't know him, so she might reget it, but it is still good for her to help him)
I can't wait for it!!!
Spinel was a Psycho. Mentioning he wants Amethio gone was a very piece of evidence.
And to the surprise of no one, the other admins were OK with his plan...
My theory is: Spinel is Ghetsis' long lost son.
..................... HOW COULD ANYONE DO THAT TO A UMBERON SPINEL IS CLEARLY THE MOST EVIL CHARACTER IN ALL OF POKEMON!
Finally, someone feels sorry for that Umbreon. It doesn’t deserve to have Spindel as a trainer
have you heard about shadow pokemon? There was an entire organization that tortured pokemon until their hearts closed off, making those pokemon more powerful but also berserk.
And they kept doing it. Did it to at least one lugia even.
So, hes bad news. Hes not the most evil character ever in pokemon: theres worse out there. So much worse...
@@fractalgem pokemon coliseum was my first pokemon game so yeah I know about them... But THERES NO SHADOW UMBREON!
Rakua is paradise , Rakuarium is the gem , and rakuaza is the last pokemon .
Rakua everywhere?
Rakua is pokemon
*Rayquaza
Honestly the Rakurium seems to be something akin to turning Pokemon in Shadow Pokemon sort of. I may be reaching for a straw that isn't there. But I would love if the anime tackled the idea of Shadow Pokemon. Liko wants to understand pokemon's emotions. It feels sooo fitting.
Wow, there sure are a lot of videos talking about scenes where the Pokemon anime horrified everyone!
I’m getting flashbacks to when pickachu was very aggressive due to the blue orb for kyogre.
Will see in pokemon xy journey anime about Maxie and Archie returns for pure evil
Hamber also seems to care about Amethio
Dude liko is like a kid
Pretty sure that Gibeon does care about his grandson. The whole reason why Spinel and Chalce want to get rid of him is because Gibeon prefers Amethio because he is his grandson.
@@JoloBondocAmethio too, his voice actor says he’s a teenager
Next episode will definitely be interesting, but by seeing next titles make me think, that Grusha may pass Liko here without a fight.
i think the best part of the battle was you could hear likos confidence in her voice when she commanded attacks she was locked in
So the Rakurium is a weapon, huh?
I mean we have scare at litwick mansion which is one of the darkest episode of pokemon bcoz litwick and lampent and the entrance of the ghost world
@@JoloBondoc That episode is child's play. I want it to be extremely dark. Darker than that episode, and darker than this episode.
Something as dark as Amphibia's Season 2 Finale "True Colors" and the Series Finale where Sasha gets slashed up her entire back. Maybe even darker
Brotha really said *"This... Is... Rakurium"*
when i saw that gas for some reason i thought it was the same gas from detective pikachu because its purple and it make the pokemon turn savage
So what we have is shadow pokemon becoming canon again and shadow shards from the almia region of the rangers series has a distant cousin
Given the Rakurium is a crystal, and once used gives a gaseous effect, it's possible it functions like a terrain or weather condition for the context of the anime, which is why Terapagos can remove it's effects and destroy it
Spinel is the evil creepy version of Tobias 💀
Only he doesn't own a legendary himself
@@eljordinio7647 Yet 😳💀👀

Why does eternal blessing and umbreon's savageness remind me of detective pikachu movie :0
Rakurium may be the true identity of the R Gas from Detective Pikachu. Fascinating.
The Crystal mist on Unbreon is kinda reminds me of R Drug from Detective Pikachu
The effects of Rakurium make me think of two pre-existing things in Pokémon: R from Detective Pikachu, and Shadow Pokémon from Team Cipher/GO Rocket.
Yeah so it means there might be "might be" another pokemon that is kinda like terapagos but has this Rakuroum, man i hate to say this but this pokemon series is kinda better than the original like most of the series was filler but aside the episodes of pokemon evolving and catching and I theorising that Amethio might turn good "might"
The rakurium phenomenon kind of parallels shadow pokemon.
