The main problem is that the end of Ash's journey felt rushed. They left so many things out and so many questions unanswered. This is probably because they wanted to be able to bring him back if Horizons went terribly wrong.
@@KaioCresendohe did. He met his old companions (Misty and Brock, and his old Pokémon), traveled with them for a while changing team each episode. What more did you want? Believe it or not, but I actually preferred the Black & White series to Journeys. Yes, I NEVER thought I'd say something so outlandish in my entire life! Despite Journeys having a few awesome moments here and there (Ash vs. Volkner/Cynthia/Leon or Paul's return right before the Masters 8), the series lacked substance. B&W at least had a story and it's sad when even the mini tournaments like the different variations of the Don George tournaments were handled better than the flipping Masters 8! I will give Journeys credit for doing justice to Iris as a character. Don't get me started on the Aim to be a Pokemon Master! finale for Ash... Horizons if a fresh start and I like it a lot! Yes, I'd love for there to be some form of reference to Ash whether it be a cameo or mention of his current status (ya know if he's still world champ or not...maybe he's older?!). Personally, I don't think we'll get any mention or visual of Ash until well into the series (if we get one at all). Remember that Ash wasn't even mentioned to be a CHAMPION in Journeys until 40+ episodes if I remember correctly during an Alola episode.
I think all pokimon seris with ash is a W i question your choice if black and white but i can respect that.unlike this dumb new pokimon series.ok ik its only been 10 ep but my childhood wont let it go that ash is gone

Your sentiment is valid, Gooey. I understand it and completely agree. I'm actually enjoying the anime again after 7 years. Ash being absent and HZ not following the games 100% gives it mystery. Congrats on the 55K subs, keep up the grind!

This is definitely 100% true. Liko and Roy's development is far better nowadays compared to Ash series, except maybe XY and DP where they are quite nice overall.
@@AnythingLounge This is just nostalgia talking. Objectively speaking, their development in these first few episodes is better even without their clear vision of their goals.

@@forkgodsdescendant2503 you must not have watched the original series, and that’s fine. Regardless it’s a new series with a new take, I don’t expect a copy and paste with only new characters. Nonetheless, it’s my critique for now.
This anime feels like your regular shonen anime. Mc trying to find their purpose in life, for some reason targeted by bad guys and every week is just them bullshitting their way out of difficult situation. It's a slow buildup, i know, but it feels fresh since i never a big fan of past pokemon animes. But to me, this is divine, exquisite even.
the only pokemon series i like more than i like pokemon horizons is pokemon xy, and true i literally forgot that ash was in pokemon for a sec when they asked me where was ash for a second i asked myself who was ash
I find it weird that some people are complaining that ash is gone, but isnt that the whole point of horizons? Like, ash finished his journey, and now we get to experience a whole new journey with someone new! Yeah, ik it wont be the same, but change can be good, even if you dont think it is
My problem is that the show is way too slow for Pokemon to the point where it doesn’t feel like a real Pokemon show and it really feels like one of those spinoff shows that they be making, because being real they always have amazing animation and a cool story. But now we’re on part 2 with more episodes and we still haven’t gotten much of any progress because it just feels like two parts full of filler. I like getting to know characters and I get the character development, and I know the trainers have to start from somewhere, but seeing them repeatedly use the same moves and lose, grow 1% each time, and do dumb things, as much as it reminds me of Kanto ash is that kinda thing only works for ash and specifically in indigo league, similar to how unova ash being dumb was just mid. I like watching them grow but there hasn’t even been a single fully on screen battle that went normally and has had a winner from what I remember. Pokemon adding new goals and stories is amazing but they’re still drifting from the concept of it which has literally been catching and battling from day one. So far Roy finally caught 1 Pokemon. We haven’t seen much of anything else including this concept to its normal extent which makes this show feel so off brand for Pokemon because none of them are doing what really makes Pokemon what it is at its max potential which is the concept of Pokémon + Aiming for their goal, and instead are taking the smallest steps ever.
I've watched the first half of ep1 on the Pokemon official yt channel and I like the theme of kids trying to discover themself during the time as a pupil in both the main anime and Palawan Winds! I feel like it gives a lot death and strong emotional beats because of relatability when you have absolutely no idea what you're doing as a high school/university student!
Honestly tho I'm just really tired of people shititng on this anime because "tHerE's nO aSH" *and seeing all the people talking about how Liko is Ash's daughter, or even related to her really annoys me-* I really like this series, and I really like how it's going so far. I can't wait to see what's coming in the future.
I love the new Pokémon horizons series a lot! Yes I'm a massive Ash fan, and I do miss him, and I still like XY series best, but we're only 14 episodes and it's so brilliant! I'm only just waiting to see how amazing the series gets with Liko and Roy, especially with the shiny Rayquaza and more! I love the new series 100%! Everyone should watch it now, or when it's dubbed into English!
Yeah it's the best opening episodes of any series and for me it is better than dp and xyz if you count 1st few episodes still so many episodes will come but I can see it will surpass every series and the day ash will return old fans will also come back before that I can say everyone at least should give a shot
I’ll say this now “filler” is just a random term people use, every episode is important even if it doesn’t push forward the plot. “Filler” helps people connect and love the characters if there were less filler in other shows it would be, 1. Shorter, 2. Confusing, the plot may be very clear and not subtle at all but if you don’t know why a character acts a certain way and is connected to other characters it would be weird. 3. Boring, not that it would be “woah omg this is so boring and simple” but if their weren’t episodes to take a break and have fun with established characters then you would just be pushed into a plot with characters you don’t know or care for would just be weird and boring.
For anyone that is wondering, SOME people who answered the poll ‘no I’m not watching Pokémon horizons’ don’t have it available in their language. We don’t want to pay for nord vpn to watch it or trust a questionable website. SOME, like me just want to watch it in their mother language too. I think horizon is a good way of taking the anime and a step up from journeys. I will miss Ash but there is not much to do with him after defeating Leon.
@@Pedrooo31 isn’t that what he has been doing for the past 25 years? Plus what I mean is there is Ash doesn’t have a actual reason to travel to Paldia because it will most likely just be a repeat of sun and moon (anime).
Nah there totally is, after a few seasons away from Ash, come back to him as an older complacent and lazy trainer who hasn't been challenged in years, similar to Volkner. Eventually he steps away from the Champion position to make room for another generation and rekindle his passion for battling and he travels with many of his old pokemon as well trying to do justice to the concept Journeys absolutely failed at. I see him becoming a trainer somewhat like Paul who still cares for Pokemon very deeply, but doesn't care for crowds or showy titles anymore. Eventually I also see him replacing Mustard as a dojo master and teaching young and upcoming trainers the basics. That's really how his journey should have ended but Gamefreak has no creativity
Why do people want to leave? I love this. 25years of seeing our boy remain 10years old going through the same motion over and over and over again with the minute of changes i got some what bored after Sinoh and dropped it only to come and go here and there over the years. I'm up to date with the anime and It's not like the old pokemon feeling but I love it because everything is new to us and they didn't fuck anything up so far. Rare W pokemon moment
Breakdown: -Journeys was rushed and missed out on key questions. Long-time fans wanted answers, and we only got brief cameos. -Goh's character felt out of place, and it's almost like things are happening to push the plot forward. -People who say VA is a problem. They've replaced PLENTY of the cast before. Why not again? - Ash's team and development arcs happen mostly off-screen or dont occur too much, which makes his win feel undeserved. - Horizons wanted to start over with a new cast to set itself apart from the originals. -However, some of the vilians' motivations feel forced by the plot, and they're flip-floping between motives. - The problem is that with Ash gone from the series, we dont know when this necessarily takes place during the main timeline.

@@Cursenothere but it will be disrespectful to ash's journey if i don't watch it and jumps to horizons. ash was one of the reason i watched pokemon. and also i need some kind of hype to start watching horizons.
After 26 years, it feels strange without Ash, but I know that this is a good step forward. Besides, we still have movie Ash once they have their next installment. Currently, the story in Horizons is pretty cool. Despite me being a die hard XY fan, this has surpassed it. Definitely want Ash to have a cameo though. We'll see how the series will progress and I'm sure that it'll surpass what it's predecessors had.
Horizons haters are so focused on Ash that they ignore the shows other issues. 1- The setting. Scarlet and Violet had a whole school theme, and instead of taking advantage of that, they made the new MC go to school in KANTO! Like, what the hell? It's only episode 1 and the missed opportunities are already there. Horizons is making the exact same mistakes as Journeys by neglecting Paldea in favor of a world-tour series. It's like the devs learned absolutely nothing. 2- The cast. Just like in Journeys, Horizons has ghosted out the Paldea cast in favor of a whole bunch on anime-exclusive characters, which is a complete waste of time in my opinion. In Journeys, we could've had Hop and Gloria instead of Goh and Chloe, but Nintendo had the ridiculous idea of pushing them aside. They are doing the same thing here by giving us a cast of characters no one even knows. Nemona, Penny, Arven and Clavell were all amazing characters, and they DO NOT deserve to be treated like this. 3- The plot. This one is more of a personal issue of mine. It's hard to be excited when the games bear no relevance to the plot. In every anime series, the games have been referenced in the anime's plot to some extend. Whether is with how the villain teams or the legendaries are handled. However, with a Black Rayquaza and a pendant containing Terapagos, I'm more confused in a bad way than excited. 4- The protags. Not gonna lie, I never really liked Ash as a main character. I didn't hated him, I just didn't loved him. The only time I did was In XY, but my respect for him went down the drain in SM. HOWEVER, I knew he would leave the anime one day, and when he did, I feared something even worst would replace him (You can count on the devs to do that) And just like that, my fears became a reality. Liko is too plain, and Roy is too genetic. It feels more like Friede is the actual protagonist and Liko and Roy are just along for the ride. Meaning that they don't stand out nearly as much as Ash. I would've preferred if the new MC was someone like Alain to give the anime a more serious and mature tone. In conclusion, Nintendo has shot themselves in the foot several times over the years, but this time they're going all out on the shooting. I can't tell if they're a multi-billion company, or a bunch of hardcore masochist. That's just how badly the anime in general has declined. Don't get me wrong. I'm not trying to sound like an a-hole just for the sake of being one. Pokemon is going to unnecessary lengths just to deviate from the games. The anime could be so much better if instead of doing all this, they did a simple, proper adaptation featuring the adventures of the game protagonists. Like in the manga. Or maybe do something like Twilight Wings or Paldean winds. Pokemon is wasting away its potential by focusing it in the wrong areas
THANK YOU someone with common sense in this comment section! Ive tried to like Horizons but theres just too many issues to actually give it more chances. They should have just stopped the anime as soon as Ash left. Now they're just milking nonsense!
Ash ketchum and the other heroes were the main reason I got into Pokémon. They should have at least bring ash around as a mentor figure. Him and his pikachu are what makes pokemon pokemon for many many people. Not to mention team rocket is sorely missed for all the comic elements they brought to the show
I’d like it more if there were more battling that was always my favorite part of ash was his unexpected moves in battle and big brain mind and as much battling as there was I enjoyed it a ton I am trying to give horizons a chance but I just can’t seem to enjoy it at all because I am a huge ash fan and can’t get over it idk why but I really do want to enjoy it’s just really hard to
As much as I like past characters such as Brock, Misty, Dawn and May (I no longer like Ash), they weren't even the reasons I'm into Pokémon. I'm into it because.... well..... the Pokémon themselves.
I mainly stopped watching pokemon right after Journeys started. I couldn't take another version of gen 7. (I preferred XYZ, (probably my favorite of the pokemon anime as a whole) and hearing such good things about horizons, makes me want to find an old analog tv, and relive some of that excitement with (analog) cable tv.
This series is good man its amazing but i think pokemon should have given ash a proper farewell 1.his dad should have been shown in the anime 2. He should have become pokemon master 3. He should have to be older not that crap 10 yrs 4. Serena didnt get a chance to meet ash properly and this annoys me the most you give misty more than 10 eps but not a proper single ep to her 😢
Pokemon anime is already never the same without Ash around and I haven't watch Ash enter the Galar league because Journeys anime is just a non-canonical reboot.
Horizons is such an amazing series so far, it really expands on what the anime can do with its storytelling now that it’s not bound by the same restrictions as the anime had with Ash (namely when it comes to romance…) I know some of us are still salty that Ash is no longer the main lead, but y’all have to remember that no matter what happens, he’s still the seed in which all future awesome things to come from the Pokémon anime will stem from. The legacy he started is too strong
@SMM5 you want me to expand, OK. It's as generic an anime as you can get, it's not funny, not emotional, the characters are too nice and bland, thr character design is poor, the story is boring, the antagonists aren't interesting, there are too many characters, the plot moves at a snails pace, the characters never stop explaining how they feel and it makes you question if the pokemon anime was ever actually good.
@@Taydar well I disagree with your opinion heavily, most of us find the characters to be great, the comedy to be funny, the story to be interesting, the emotions to hit hard, and the other aspects you’re criticizing to be well handled Your opinion is fair but not an excuse to call mine “incorrect”, as if there is a “correct” answer to rather or not a series is good in someone’s opinion
Well, as people are going to love Horizons, this will be more or less irrelevant. I kinda think that missing Ash is not an acceptable reason to not to watch Horizons.
In my case it's because why they don't freaking release new ep on streaming instead of accesing ilegal trough the internet risking the PC or mobile getting virus, they did on journeys why they don't make on this as well?
They are the reason why to not over bonded with fictional characters With or without nothing will change After all pokemon is about the pokemon itself and not specific characters Not forgetting competition in anime industries isn't easy especially with lot of new anime appeared in every years Diehard fans will only holding back the show and if keep pokemon will likely suffered same fate like Monster Rancher/Farm which now was a dead franchise
@@ZeroDarkness- this is the main reason why diehard deranged fanboys (in this case ash deranged fanboys) are the worst of the worst to the fandom, and every hate they get is justified.

No hate to horizons have not watched pokemon since xyz days but am gonna rewatch dp and hoenn to relive my fav serieses especially after hearing about Ash's departure (tho I am sure he will be back some day as legends never die and pokemon the company will realize they need him since he is too iconic)
I like liko and Roy as a duo at first I thought it would be an ash and goh but no! The episodes are shared with both protagonists instead of just of goh has 165 episodes to himself ash get’s like 5 so this is very cool i’m really glad, this duo wasn’t like ash and goh.
The new one seems fine although you aren't quite right about how this has episodes that actually build up on each other because in season 1 the episodes were like that too since it's easier to have a story when it is just the start of a journey but it only gets difficult when you're in the middle (hence why xyz was so good).
I stopped watching the original Pokemon anime precisely because I got frustrated with Ash never winning a tournament. It got real monotonous. So I'm glad to see a new set of protagonists
Roys goal is actually more realistic than Goh's, Goh's goal literally made no sense and we could of had Ash doing that anyways, Goh is just a Ash clone with a dumb goal. Also he is a literal noob with Legendaries that just started his first couple of seasons which we never seen Ash done like ever in the series. Roy just wanna battle Legendaries and be like that Legend.
“Better than Journeys” is kinda a low bar to clear considering that, aside from some of the better battles and character returns, Journeys was probably the most shallow series out of the original between episodes feeling like unrelated one-shots and the lifeless and empty nature of the world to the point that even returning to old locations had no fanfare behind them and they just felt interchangeable. Really, it doesn’t take much to be better than Journeys
I remember hearing that ash was going to be replaced and my thoughts were "about ###### time!" I was so hyped that pokemon decided to be bold and while i find the newer pokemon to be kinda meh, this season felt fresh. Though to be honest, it felt kinda dragged out at a few spots. Also the big plush person felt a tad bit much. 9/10, but really leaning towards a 10.
Pokemon horizons is in fact good but I dont think it will ever blow up without ash they should bring back ash in a film or he could just meet with the main characthers and like see himself in them it would be pretty cool (the story and the characthers were better in ashs time)
Pokémon Horizons destroys the crappy Sun & Moon anime and I haven’t even watched Horizons yet (I’m waiting for Horizons to be dubbed) 😂 I would rather go back and watch the Orange Island and Johto filler episodes over the crappy Sun & Moon any day of the week. 😃

It's a slow buildup, i know, but it feels fresh since i never a big fan of past pokemon animes. But to me, this is divine, exquisite even.
All I just want for horizons is to have it have a Who’s that Pokémon!
the only pokemon series i like more than i like pokemon horizons is pokemon xy, and true i literally forgot that ash was in pokemon for a sec when they asked me where was ash for a second i asked myself who was ash
I find it weird that some people are complaining that ash is gone, but isnt that the whole point of horizons? Like, ash finished his journey, and now we get to experience a whole new journey with someone new! Yeah, ik it wont be the same, but change can be good, even if you dont think it is
Oh i see what you did with the video title there 👍 I dont know why, but Horizons reminds me of the PKMN Adventures books story telling.
I started watching the show yesterday and I already forgot Ash was a character
Honestly tho I'm just really tired of people shititng on this anime because "tHerE's nO aSH"

I know there is no ash, but the official trailer was absolute heat. like these people are after her, AND SHINY RAYQUAZA BRO

I think horizon is a good way of taking the anime and a step up from journeys. I will miss Ash but there is not much to do with him after defeating Leon.
Yep❤
Nah, there is. Just make him travel and catch pokemon, thats all I want

Breakdown:
-Journeys was rushed and missed out on key questions.
Sun and moon and DP will always be my favourite the casts in those seasons are the best and the story’s are my favourite this is decent though

What are you talking about, first 10 episodes boring af
The thing that annoys me the most is that we can't even watch it on UA-cam when new episodes are out on Friday anymore, all we keep getting are AMV's
I hate it because cat I hate cats
Ash ketchum and the other heroes were the main reason I got into Pokémon. They should have at least bring ash around as a mentor figure.
I love this series my favorite Pokmon series was x and y and xyz but not any more Horizons is way better and it is now my favorite Pokemon series.
as someone who doesn't feel like watching past season two since i don't have access is see this as an unbiased win
Pokemon horizons is in fact good but I dont think it will ever blow up without ash they should bring back ash in a film or he could just meet with the main characthers and like see himself in them it would be pretty cool (the story and the characthers were better in ashs time)
They have to bring back ash if they want the audience from the 2000s❤
How are watching that much episodes when most of them are in some other language?
Pokémon Horizons destroys the crappy Sun & Moon anime and I haven’t even watched Horizons yet (I’m waiting for Horizons to be dubbed) 😂 I would rather go back and watch the Orange Island and Johto filler episodes over the crappy Sun & Moon any day of the week. 😃
True
@@genoric4094I swear, one day I will watch Sun & Moon. I got to around the 19th episode of the 1st season’s Sun & Moon before I forgot all about it. 😆
sun and moon even worse than black and white series.
@@chetanyanigamBlack & White is a bit underrated. You had:
1) Battle Club Tournaments
2) Lot’s of rivals for the characters
3) The theme songs for the BW series are great
4) Team Rocket wasn’t shoved in every… single… episode doing the same thing over and over etc.
THE CONS:
1) Ash caught too many Pokémon that didn’t evolve or get development over time
2) Unova League wasn’t that great
3) Ash was too dumb and Iris was so annoying
