Thanks for what you did here. I just moved in with my mom to help her, and have the express pleasure of figuring out how everything around the house works. I didn't even know that what I had in the shed were sprinkler heads, so I found this by Googling the info on the head...and my Dad, God bless him, never seemed to get the adjustments done on the sprinkler heads that are in the ground. The rain bird ones had professional videos. I was glad you did this one, because we're sharing the work we have to do as homeowners. My neighbors all have more expensive/newer systems, and didn't know how to help. Thanks for being my virtual neighbor, several years after you posted the video.
Actually, this is really going to help me. I have always had problems adjusting sprinklers. I never knew that one hole was to just pull the head up so that you can work on it.. And never new where the start line was. This is pretty clear the start line on the sprinkler head then just turn until the arrow is where you want it programed. I have always found the directions that come with the sprinklers confusion. You video has gave me confidence to properly install ... Thanks again.... I found this video helpful.
I appreciate you posting this John Reed. I needed to adjust my aerobic septic sprinkler heads and you explained it well. I did not have the manufacturer's instructions and I couldn't find the information anywhere else. Thanks. To the guy below that posted the negative comments (Christopher Johnson). If you want a shorter video, post one up yourself! What a tool!
Sorry but Christopher Johnson has a point. The narrator doesn't stay on point and it is difficult to follow a single idea. Afraid the narrator isn't consistent in explaining an idea to its conclusion but I really do appreciate his effort.
So super helpful! I need to replace one but know zero about sprinklers. Thankfully, after looking at mine and watching this video, I'm sure it's easy enough to do myself. You're a hero! XD
Liked the video even though some thought it was too long. U made points that were very helpful & esp. to ppl. who are not that savvy in the sprinkler head area!!!
Very helpful and thank you for taking your time to help others. The number one clogging I've found is from poor installation and not flushing out the lines. EVERY screen was plugged with glue and PVC shavings.
Our KRain Super Pro system installers turned one sprinkler head off. Do you know how we can turn it back on? (Installers are not available for advice.)
Possibly the adjustment is turned all the way off, you may be able to adjust it to see. Turn it one half turn and see if that works, if so you can fine tune the adjustment to your situation. It may be plugged, if it is a new system, look at one of the heads that is working and see if you can tell the difference. Good luck.
The sprinkler is in the ground and sprays all over the drive. I am trying to adjust the start position. Tried everything that was obvious and I must be the dumbest person I know. Adjusting the throw is easy. I need to know how to adjust where the darn thing starts. Really frustrating.
Hi John, I am curious if you know anything about adjusting the distance of the spray. I have mine overshooting 3 or 4 feet onto the patio, and tried screwing the nozzle screw in tighter to diffuse the water more. Either I didn't do it enough, or there is another trick I don't know. I did go back the other way (with adjuster screw), and lost the nozzle. Thanks for explaining this; now I get to go find it.
teknotech sorry to hear you lost the nozzle, good luck finding it! You will need to screw it in further to diffuse the spray pattern - make it a shorter distance. good luck.
I got it, I think I will get the pro series but you may as well replace the chamber instead of just exchanging guts because the filter is on the bottom I think
Pull up the riser, turn the turret to the left stop, and grab the lower riser. Firmly twist it until it lines up with the left stop. From my experience it is much easier to do it with the water off.
at 4:55 in the video it explains it. That is the reference for your starting position. Then the pattern goes clock wise as far as you want to set it. When it is in the ground - make the small mark as shown in the video - your "left" start position.

I will NEVER buy this brand sprinkler again. Setting the left stop is impossible after it has been set in the ground. You have to yank it up with one hand and twist the damn thing with other hand to try to adjust the left edge? Might as well dig it all up and start over again. Forget it!
Why does everyone show the common sense adjustments and not how to change the direction it sprays? That is the one question that I have, mine keeps spraying my house and I need to make it spray the complete opposite direction.
Try this, find the zero setting, everything is based off that setting. You will have to adjust the entire base of the sprinkler to it starts where you want it to start. Think of it like a clock - 12 has to be the top and everything else is related to the 12. With the sprinkler head it all depends on where you position the 12, if it’s hitting the house, rotate the entire bas if the sprinkler so it doesn’t hit the house, you have to rotate the entire base, not just the top of the sprinkler.
@@reedreels307 when you say base are you talking about the outer plastic shell that screws into the PVC or the inner lower portion of the pop up shaft?
@@brettls2 it’s the outer plastic shell. When you have your pattern set with the inner pop up, place the plastic shell into the ground, this way you will know how your pvc will have to connect to the plastic shell. Once you have the plastic shell connected to your pvc you can twist the inner pop up a little to make minor adjustments. I hope this helps
@@reedreels307 not really lol the outer plastic shell needs to be all the way screwed down or its going to leak and it's always going to stop wherever the threads run out and it needs to stop. That just doesn't make sense to me.
@@brettls2 yes it has to be tight or it will leak, using the marks on the top of the sprinkler showing the spay pattern, use the small mark - it is the starting point and the sprinkler rotates clockwise, use that mark to set your sprinkler do it won’t hit your house. It’s all about getting your start point set right
I have to agree with the other comment. I had to turn it off at 3 minutes because I couldn't take it anymore. You might want to consider joining Toastmasters and work on a your communication skills. Outline what is really important for your potential audience and stick to the point. Thanks for posting though.
I totally agree with christopher. Your instructions are very confusing, and yes the title is replacement and adjustment. You spend more time on unrelated points for it being so long. Waste of our time jeesh!!!
This video was the most confusing instructional video..you stopped mid sentence over and over and the actual instructions..well I still don't know how to adjust this thing at all.
Sorry to confuse you James , tried to make it clear, try one yourself something - pay someone to do it for you. Complain about free advice - sorry you can't figure it out! Try reading a manual! It's funny to me how people want to complain about some thing that is offered to them for free. I have some cheese for you !
Sorry it didnt help you, I tried my best and am glad it has helped some people. When you figure it out I suggest you make a video! You can pay someone to fix them for you. You Tube is free!

This video was worth my time, if for nothing else, the tips on keeping the housing clean, and cleaning it. Thank you.
I learned something from you John Reed, I didn't know the that rotors were replaceable, thank's.
Glad to help out!

So if my sprinkler head is just rotating 360 no matter what I put that marker on it's probably broken?
What size allen wrench for the nozzle?
