Though the soundtrack of The Mission may have a touch of mediterranean, it fits in so perfectly in the movie. and that is a combination of the mediteranean spanish and portugese and the new world guaranies. If I have to chose, I'd say that I prefer gabriel`s Oboe as Morricone composed it.However I do like Pontes`s and Hayley`s version. What Is amazing, is Morricones and Zimmers capacity to go beyond themselves and compose for other cultures. It`s been a pleasure

I love Bridal Ballad too, and I notice the difference, but here we have a 120 piece orchestra, Sinfonietta di Roma, personally conducted by Ennio Morricone, who is also the producer of Paradiso. It sounds magnificent, and it was meant to. It is a Hayley and Ennio album, so I think Ennio wanted to give as much importance to the orchestra as to Hayley's vocals.

Nella Fantasia was a song written by Sarah Brightman literally using the instrumental arrangement, after begging Morricone number of times, and in the end Morricone letting her use it, but with no interest of his own. He didn't care abt the result. But now, Morricone himself made a vocal arrangement for Gabriel's Oboe, and encouraged Hayley to write lyrics. This is the original version.
