Koston with a Yeah Right deck. 2003 man. That's the year I got my first skateboard and it's almost 20 years. Life goes by fast, always go out and skate whenever you can.
mi time of life when I ws most active on a board skating with Ryan Orton RIP , Mars , Wes povlich, RIP Jake Rusch, Matt Larkee Big L and Just Greg Lutzka way too many Ppl BP Jon rouse Eric n Bryan rouse Payne AN Sean Slomski Mane
i like how respectful everyone is. idk where the bad rep for skateboarders really came from. almost everyone at all levels are dumb nice people just having a time in there spare time
Me neither and also there's barely any footage of the old GvR(goofy vs regular) contest. Bastien Salabanzi killed it in the GvR contests. There's actually some other real street comps before the 2003 xgames real street. I wish they had more real street comps now. The bust or bails comps were dope too. I think his name was Jake (the guy that was like the face of thrasher) but, the bust or bail comp isn't the same without him. There's also some skate map footy which was the show on fuel TV from the early 2000s that showed the Zoo York team traveling the world and skating at dope spots. Zered Basset was the best on Zoo York and also Robert Lopez was fire too. Zered Basset was the closest thing to a real life rocket power character because that dude could skate street(hesh and tech style), park, bowl, and vert as well as do it all switch, fakie and nollie. What sucks is the majority of that is on skate maps footy and there's not too much skate maps on YT smh.
Damn I know that was dope to see in person. I'm from the IE btw and I was 14 at the time watching this at home after a skate session lol. I started skating in 97 and never got really good but I've been a big skate fan since I was a kid and there's nothing like seeing really good skaters in person. It's ten times better in person. If I had the money I'd have a competition for all the 90s and early 2000s guys to hit like an 8 stair with a handrail, a manny pad and some other shit(something not too much for them since they older now lol). 70s and 80s are welcome too. I just wanna make it for the old school guys.

Koston and P-Rod wearing Es (Accel I think) What's Muska wearing? Probably C1RCA... Awesome video. Interesting to see in the comments that everyone has been brought here the last 2-3 days by the algorithm
Insane to think this was 20 years ago Almost. What a year for street skateboarding, I seen p rod at 118 getting big, WTF!!!! insane!!!! Val surf team too, crazy! I’m bloom, emetics Ali búlala arto sarri! The darks slides! And the primos! Sylmar high, Belmont. Hollywood high! Yeah right and in bloom, Mike Taylor a mayor now! Wtf!!!!!!! Lol bless us skateboarders!
I really get irritated that they never showed any of their runs in their entirety. Even a highlight version but still after all these years I've yet to see what any of these dudes did in one run. Does the footage exist anywhere on UA-cam?
Well to be fair, it was during a time where smartphones did not exist. People back than went out to these events and lived in the moment, instead of having their phones out all the time. But I get what you mean lol
In the early 2000s before skateboarding and the x games exploded, it was very hard to find anything skateboarding related on espn or any tv really. I remember something like this a 5 min reel would be the only thing they would show from the entire event. Aside from picking up a physical skate video you had no other options lol then things slowly became more accessible thru video sharing site on the internet, and really accessible once skateboarding became more mainstream after the success of the Tony Hawk video game series, tv shows Jackass and Viva La Bam. ESPN actually started airing x games events live of not only street skating but also bmx, motorcross, and other stuff like that. I started skateboarding during the early 2000s it was a great time looking back at it.
Your tripping, this competition definitely doesn't do Eric koston and P-rod justice. I can tell you never watched "Yeah Right" and their other video parts.
Ahhh the golden era in skateboarding… at least in my opinion. 1995-2005
🎯
Bingo!!
It was. Skateboarding peaked in this era. Way too many kooks in the game these days.
Right!
Yup I agree. After 2005 it wasn't the same. I graduated in 2005 from high-school and wasn't in my prime get but skating from 95-05 was the best.
Chad Muska it's the pure essence of the 90 to 2000, oh god how i wanted that Muska Board (the red with white)
Wow I can't believe this was already basically 20 years ago.
Yah p rod was like 15 or 16
yeah we are old

I swear over the years I could never find footage of xgames at staples.
when I think of xgames this is what I remember, also the bush step-up gap

Muska was likely wearing c1rca’s at the given time. That’s where I got my username lol. I miss c1rca

From 1999 when skateboarding was proper. By 2003 the cracks had already begun with this convoluted bs
