An important thing to clarify: Molly mentioned as an example of something related to blindness that she can't fake that if someone throws a ball at her, she wouldn't be able to see it coming and dodge it.
However, while Molly isn't able to do this, some blind people ARE able to. For example, some people who are blind due to a neurological cause have something called blindsight, which is an ability to respond to visual stimuli in their environment that they don't consciously perceive, e.g. they'll stop or change direction if they're about to bump into a wall, they'll dodge something being thrown at them. Another example is people who are able to use echolocation to detect things in their environment that they can't see.
So in short, if a blind person IS able to dodge a ball being thrown at them, that does NOT mean that they are faking.

It absolutely means that they’re faking.
That’s like saying if someone claims to be a quadriplegic but can do a cartwheel that they’re not faking being quadriplegic 😂

I had a teacher who kept telling students that I was faking an injury because she thought I switched the brace once. After 3-4 months of being kicked on the injury, bullying, way too much drama, my mom and I walked into the school and told the principal that we will wait in the office until we get to have a meeting with that teacher. Luckily she was able to come down pretty much right away. My mom, the principal, the teacher, and I all went into the principals office to talk. My mom and I had already explained what had been going on to the principal. So when we got into the room, the principal looked at me and said “Paxton, have you ever switched your boot?” I said “no”. The teacher butted in and said “see I’ve even asked her that before and she said no”. So then the principal looks at me and says “Paxton, if you are lying you need to tell us right now”. Remind you my mom was in the office. Before my mom could even get a word out, my seventh grade self looks the principal dead in the eye and said “I put my boot on every morning, don’t you think I’d be the one to know?”. My mom busted up laughing because that’s what she would’ve said and she wasn’t expecting me to say it. After the meeting I got talked to by my mom just because how I said it was a little rude but like I told my mom, “I told them both that I haven’t done it on two separate occasions and they still thought I was lying”. I don’t lie , so when people accuse me of it, it infuriates me. But miraculously that day, the bullying stopped.....

When I read and hear stories like yours, it just makes me so angry. Teachers/adults who are supposed to mentor, nurture, and guide young people are some of the worst. I'm sorry you had to go through that.
I'm blind, and when I was in school, I had too many incidents wherein teachers/adults dismissed my struggles or accused me of making something up or faking things. It's an all too common theme, and it's partly what inspired me to become a teacher myself--a caring and compassionate teacher, the kind of teacher that shouldn't be but is a rarity.

What should shut down dven the greatest sceptics is honestly her involvement with the Mira Foundation.
It's unfathomable to me to even think a guide dog school that renowned would give now three dogs to someone who isn’t blind.
Edit: Haha, I wrote this before starting the video. I guess Molly agrees 😂

I think it's because she used to be able to see her eye movement are like a person who can see so its confusing. Blind from birth people keep their eyes closed or completely still.

    • @Positivekitten

There are so many different causes of vision loss and so many different ways that it affects people, whether they are blind from birth or not, there is not one way of “looking blind”. There is only a very incorrect and in accurate stereotype that the media keeps perpetuating about how a blind person is supposed to look and act. Put 100 blind people in a room and every single one of them will have completely different looks, mannerisms, abilities, etc.

What? The blind people i know or have met dont do that. I also know a lot of blind dogs through rescue work. None of them keep their eyes close. 😂 Heck, my cats blind in one eye from a bad abusive past. He keeps it open like any other sighted cat would. It's just dilated weird, so he looks like he is half tripping. 😂 Sometimes, his third eyelid sits on it, too, when he is tired. But usually, the eyes open.
Edit: I wanted to add, too. Not all blind people keep their eyes open, of course. I'm just saying it's not the norm to just assume all people who are blind keep their eyes close.

@@Navi_cloudz There are lots of charlatans who have had a lot more than 1.99M people believe their every word. ( To be clear, I would be extremely surprised if it turned out that Molly Burke isn't blind. I'm simply saying that just because a lot of people believe something isn't necessarily a good reason to think that what they believe is true )
