Note: Nolan's Enhanced Basic Attack Passive is only affected by enemy Hero and Turret combat. It isn't affected by Jungle Creeps and Lane Minions. I mistakenly said that it was affected by Lane Minions in the video, so please ignore that. 🙏🙏
Oh ok👍
5:03 - That clutch!!!!!
Thankfully it worked out 😅
I actually liek this style of guide, first explaining the skills and getting into the combos as it appears in the gameplay. Makes it easier to remember and understand. I also liek that you explain the mechanics of it, why & when u used the combos & gave a little insight into the thought process that goes into it. Overall a pretty great guide, it's nice that there no distracting music in the background as many guides I see have the music volume pumped so high that you can't think for yourself abt the combos which makes u have to watch multiple times to get it which is pretty annoying
Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, I tried to remember what I disliked about other guides (including other games) and tried not to repeat it here, while trying something new on the channel 😄
When picking or banning Nolan. It is important to note that Nolan is not really as “overpowered” as people portray him to be. Nolan’s skills have base stats and physical scaling on the higher side. The only thing noteworthy about Nolan is his ability to basically “chain” his dash skills. This makes him very annoying to catch. But since his damage is on the lower side, and he is rather squishy, any simple CC can deal with him rather easily. He’s also weak to burst damage. This makes him basically counterable by any hero in the game as long as they play correctly. (Like I’ve literally beat this guy with Layla in higher ranks, just keep your distance.)
This ult removes cc dash back and bunch of damage and his rift explosion is 140% which means he does alot of damage with bunch of cc and slows
I agree. He's more balanced than recent Assassin releases. I wouldn't say his damage is on the lower side tho. Properly built and using him right allows him to easily burst squishies.
@@4Mazyng
But to balance his ult they made it so he steps/dashes back once ult used so the opponent has chance to escape due to the distance made
I thought Nolan was average, but I tried him and his jungling speed and damage are all very good form early game. His continuous dashes and ult make him very hard to kill as well. I've tried brute force as 3rd item and i find it works very well, his low CD skills allow him to stay in the fight for longer instead of a kill and run playstyle. In summary, I think Nolan is pick or ban right now, but he's not as op as other new releases.
@@noidea2338 Not really ban worthy since there’s still permanent ban hero’s like Novaria, and mathilda. Honestly, Although i admit i was wrong and that Nolan is actually a pretty decent pick, he’s not that overpowered to deserve that permanent ban slot, but picking him will give your team a higher advantage (unless enemy has like a insane tank jungles (Fredrinn.)
This hero is freaking crazy strong, I'm gonna get him. So far I play him in Practice, I'm using Saber's build on him. Yeah, I use Endless Battle for CDR, True Damage + Hybrid Lifesteal. Yes, his jungle speed is very fast, you can just use Wilderness Blessing for rotate faster.
Yeah, Endless Battle is still pretty good on him if you can get enough Passive triggers
Definitely the most balanced assassin hero on release. Good hero on the right hand, easy to deal with by having heavy cc and burst, and like Fanny, invade his purple buff so that his enery runs out faster.
Yeah, the Purify on demand with super low CD is pretty OP!
you are always the best MLBB guide in youtube, because you give damage comparison calculation percentage too
Thank you so much! 💛💛
Thank you for the detailed guide and explanation. You’re the only ml guide creator that puts in the effort to explain your thought process and that helps viewers to understand and appreciate the gameplay.
Thank you for the feedback! It means alot 😄
I liked the style of the video, it is engaging with the gameplay behind it. I would have also liked if some more details of the skills were given, like how long before the damage drop off of rift explosions is gone or whether each rift explosion counts as its own damage source or each explosion is one damage or like the hit boxes and how the rifts form through each skill and the passive. On the upside, i also really liked the ending part where u did that spamming skill 1 to burst the rifts, sounds impractical most of the time but those sort of fun tricks r what i find make a character alot more special. I did some testing myself and if u do i believe skill 1 directly into skill 2 away from the enemy, i thought it could be some sort of poke damage n disengage but due to how the rifts form, they barely do not touch, maybe abit of movement in between the skills towards the enemy allows for that sort of nest trick aswell. Those kind of things, alot of them, i feel will make the vid so much cooler, given ik the character is knew and there has not been much time to test it.
One last thing, about the playstyle of the hero, I like the stating of nolan being squishy, maybe some tankier builds and playstyles would be an addition, but what is more important i think is if u contrast nolan squishiness to other heroes in the same role, that would sort of give an intuition to the heros nuance. Like when u dived dyrroth but died, would a lance hv died there? would someone like haya or a more bursty assassin like gussion hv killed dyrroth before his nasty armor break basic atk ult combo?
and also Tbh, abit of the vid became like a vod review rather than focusing on nolan cause there was no link in some places to the tactics used, they sound more like generall jungler tactics than nolan tactics uk? But for newer players, definitely one of the more practical engaging guides!
Thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed feedback! I'll take note and try to improve if I do another Hero guide 💛💛💛
Tip:
Once the rifts explode, it has a short period where a rift shows up, which means that after the rifts explode, you can hit it with another skill to trigger another explosion. This will greatly reduce your energy consumption.
Nice tip
Im happy u r back with ytb 1 month without seeing u, keep the rythm champ 👊🏽
Thanks man! 😀
Nice guide with gameplay explaining!
Thanks for the tips

clearly a fighter main and what a sick video guide, solid la RRR, really enjoyed this guide and looking forward to more!
Was the aggressive playstyle that gave it away? 🤣
@RubyRubyRubyGaming no, more like the smart decisions to make as a fighter main hahaha i know ur playstyle ma!
Very good
Thank you :)
Good video. Solid guide. Did enjoy.
Glad you enjoyed it! Appreciate the feedback 💛
I feel like Nolan won't be a part of pro scene meta because he's heavily countered by the current meta; he certainly won't deal much damage against tanks (especially if he gets nerfed, which is very likely) and he's countered by dashy heroes, which is pretty much every meta non-tank hero. Additionally, he has no cc and his skills are relatively easy to dodge which means it'd be hard to full combo and burst enemies, just like Julian's. And lastly, he can't really dive; he has to sneak behind the enemies.
I have similar sentiments. Feels like a downgrade of Lancelot even if he goes tank build. But he can do really good AOE damage with the proper set up, like an insane Atlas ult. But of course, that's asking a lot. 😅
That is why timing is important when it comes to some heroes like the majority of the assassins, if not whole
"pro scene" Where are you now bro? 😂
@@DarkWest35 This shit was commented nine months ago. You high?
@@oosky STILL where are you bro?
Nolan is quite OP, but most people are just building him wrong. Just like what happened with Tankcelot, it's only a matter of time before people figure out the optimal build for him is not pure damage, but is a hybrid spell vamp and tank build for Nolan. Warrior Boots with Bloody Retribution, Bloodlust Axe, Cursed Helmet, Thunderbelt, Oracle, Malefic Roar, and Rock Potion at the end with Fighter Emblem (Vitality, Festival of Blood, Concussive Blast). Most sustain heroes have 2 main weaknesses, which are CC and ranged damage. You can't regen HP if you're stunned and you can't regen HP if your enemy is hitting you from afar. Nolan has 2 things that counters these key weaknesses, insanely spammable and easy-to-use purify and insanely high mobility (with multiple blinks).
The purify is so good, it's insane. With normal purify, you need skill. You don't just need to press purify, but you also need to press it and use another skill/move to escape the enemy afterwards to prevent death. If your blink skill is on cooldown or your enemy's combo is too fast, you can still die even with the purify. But Nolan's Purify allows you to purify, blink, and and do devastating damage to the enemy all in 1 button while having a 9.6 second cooldown (with 40% CDR) instead of 90 sec cooldown for just normal purify which just gives you 15% movement speed. The ultimate's rift explosions also regen your energy, which guarantees you have enough energy to blink again, which means you can almost certainly escape any enemy as long as you're not so squishy, you get bursted down before you can even blink (pun intended). The high mobility means you can chase down any pesky marksman who tries to use ranged damage to kill you unless again, you get bursted down in literally 1 nanosecond before you can even blink to a Layla. Don't waste the gift you've been given by building totally pure damage.
People are overreacting about Nolan's energy constraints, but he has more than enough energy to destroy enemies with this hybrid build without running out of energy. I tried it on a bot with the same build as me aka warrior boots + thunderbelt (which is more physical defence than squishies will have) without purple buff and it took 3 seconds to kill the enemy and I had 2 out of 4 energy bars left and the enemy was dead in 3 seconds. With purple buff, I had 4 out 5.333 bars left. I did not use the ultimate or bloody retribution. If I had used those, I could burst the enemy down faster and have more energy left for sure. The 40% CDR means that the time to kill with a tankier build is not heavily compromised since you can spam the skills faster as long as you don't run out of energy, which you won't.
Just to give you an idea of how long his energy lasts, I tried killing a bot with Warrior Boots, Blade Armour, Dominance Ice, Antique Cuirass, Thunderbelt, and Brute Force Breastplate. No actual enemy would build this much physical defence unless your whole enemy lineup was all physical dmg dealers, so this is an extreme just to illustrate the idea. I used Nolan without purple buff and I was able to get this bot down to 1 bar of HP before I ran out of energy. I could have killed the bot if I used the ultimate or retribution. With purple buff, I was able to kill this enemy with ~2.75 out of 5.333 bars of energy left without the ultimate or retribution again.
Nolan's biggest weakness is not tanks, but sustain heroes. Because he has no CC (other than slowing the enemy down with rifts and thunderbelt), enemies can regen HP by attacking him back, preventing him from killing them before running out of energy, so you should avoid sustain heroes and focus on the others. My recommendation if there are many sustain heroes in the enemy lineup is to swap out Cursed Helmet for Blade Armour as it can counter some of the spell vamp. It's can also be a good swap if the enemy marksman is a crit damage dealer with Haas's claws (lifesteal) due to the crit damage reduction + lifesteal counter. Keep in mind that your magic defence will be lower with this swap, so you can consider swapping out Warrior Boots for Tough boots if the enemy has a burst mage.
Thanks for writing such a detailed opinion piece! I think the build you suggested is viable, but I am doubtful of his sustain tbh. I've tried it in Practice and am still unimpressed by the amount of spell vamp. I'll definitely give it a shot and see how the experience is in an actual match.😄
His spell vamp sucks so better build defense items instead of spell vamp. I also tried the spell vamp build and his sustain isnt significant enough to become viable. Plus cdr items are not very useful since his skills cd are pretty good already
It's not only the guide that we want but also the guide that we needed. 🗿
Thank you! 💛
Very good vid 😊
Thank you! 💛
🔥
🤩🤩
Pls do one for Mathilda 🙏
i kinda don't like heptases rn so my build if i go on assassin build will be
-Defensive Shoe
-Hunter strike
-Endless Battle
-BOD
-Malefic roar
-flex
extra pen from heptases is good and all but playing with endless will give you consistent true damage everytime you land a basic after skill with 1.5 sec cooldown on enemy and since nolan skill is this quick you know you'll melt even the tankiest opponent
I had to play nolan with mm build last night. Man what a terrible experience 🤣 but we win tho I backdoored when the enemy were spamming recall at our mega

another good video by mr rubyrubyruby
i have a suggestion: can you make a video about which build is better on bane? Physical build or Magic build
Thank you! I'll see what I can do on the Bane build
thanks! :D
Fun fact: u can double rift explosion using basic atk passive + skill 1 and 2
He’ll create 3 rifts & thats enough for 3 explosions. U can reduce engergy usage
Yeah, that's definitely true 🔥
Triple rift is possible with Enhanced BA + ULT + 2nd + 1st. Although the range is small, this combo has prolly the highest and fastest burst potential.
I usually couple this up with petrify nolan so the enemy wouldn't escape ult
Can you please make a Fredrinn guide also?
That slight pull towards the center of the rift after it explodes.. does that count as a dash? Can an ally phoveus take advantage of that? Like how akais ult synergizes with phov
That might be possible - you can try testing it!
Can Nolan Tank like how some Junglers build Lancelot as a Tank? Since both of them can initiate by going in and out with their dashes, and Nolan has a Purify as a bonus on his Ult on a short cooldown that he can use to disengage.
I tried him with a Tank build and it was decent. Not crazy good, but OK-ish.
@@RubyRubyRubyGaming I guess a Nolan Tank would be situational then.
First 😌
💛💛
I like this style. No, I love this style! I could actually learn something in battle. Practical. Watching another player's perspective is always welcome.
Unrelated but Nolan's design is somewhat misleading to me. I keep comparing him to Frederin and forgot he is squishy.
Thanks for the feedback! 💛 Yeah, his playstyle is somewhat like Fredrinn, except he's way way way less tanky.
Do one for amon please ❤
Is it worth it to build defensive items ? Like 2 or 3 attack items and the rest are defensive. He will be a bit tanky but I don't think the damage will be enough in the late game
With full damage build he is a menace early to mid game but he falls heavily in the late game and lancelot is a real nightmare for him
I think I would rather go full damage or full tank on him. Building Hybrid makes him neither tanky, and lack burst, which makes him even more mediocre
yeah, nolan deals enough damage to squishies with only 3 items, unless they build def items too
how do you do that auto attack aiming at 11:44 to target the big minion at blue buff
You need to enable advanced basic attack targeting in your Control settings. You can then hold the Basic Attack button and drag to a target.
Please guide to melissa & Brody
nice
Thank you! 😀
Hi, do u think nolan would be good with hybrid build like tank lance?
Molten essence, war axe, guardian helmet, endless battle & thunderbelt combo?
It'll probably be decent. I've tried full tank and it was OK-ish.
@@RubyRubyRubyGamingwith full tank the utility will be coming from his passive right?
Passive doesn't reset when fighting minions im sure there was such info in passive description
Oh, my mistake. I'll put up a pinned comment to correct this. Thanks!
It'd be really nice if you could post a video about mm equipment effectiveness in early/mid/late game
And Which one 2 buy first
I'll add that to my list. Thanks for the suggestion!
What about a tank built Nolan like Tankcelot? I heard mobazane talking about it in his stream and it struck with me.
I think he's decent as a Tank Jungle, so I still think Tankcelot is better.
What do you think about endless battle and lethal ignition.
Both pretty good on Nolan. If you can trigger Endless Battle a lot, it is possible to outdamage some some of the equipment, especially on tankier targets
I think true damage can be triggered by his basic attack passive, perhaps twice during a combo attack.
I tested it, and the passive doesn't trigger either EB or TB passive unfortunately. You will still need a skill cast to trigger those passives.
I have a question that will tank nolan work?
I've tried it - it's pretty decent, but I doubt it's top tier.
Here's a tip for anyone that wish to bring Nolan into the lane.
you can stagger the rifts by putting one parallel to the enemy minions, or stagger the rift before the enemy arrives. Since there is 0.5 second delay before the rift explodes, you can do Basic Atk + S1 (Make sure the Enhanced Basic Attack is parallel as well) again to instantly clear the midlane on lvl 1. This also works when defending turrets by using the same principle, putting a rift in front of the turret. So does doing jungle. At 3 second mark, put down a rift at the location of the big blue buff and the small one, once they appear simply do an enhanced BA + S1 to pop them at once
The floating rift also causes enemy to be more cautious as you can simply pop the rift to poke them or left as a barrier to slow enemies down if they carelessly walk into it.
Nice tips! Thanks for sharing 😄
Is endless battle good for him?
It's good if you can get 4+ triggers of the Passive in a fight, but Endless Battle will lose out in AOE situations since the Passive is only single target, while items like Malefic and BOD will boost his skill damage and thus, AOE.
@@RubyRubyRubyGaming i see alright thanks much!!
Another hero i wont use for the next months because everyone bans and pics them
I know the feels. He's not that insane tho.
@@RubyRubyRubyGaming yeah but still ill wait for things to cool down till they realize hes just another squishy assassin
Cdr build how bout it? 🤔
IMO it's sub-optimal since he already has really low cooldowns, so getting reduction to that doesn't change much. Plus he's energy-based, so there's a limit to how much you can actually spam
Lets get this to 1k+ views for his salary of diamonds xD cuz ruby3 just joined the KOL program :D
Man's gotta get paid 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Also, thanks so much for helping me get into the program! I would have been so lost if not for you 💛💛
but top tier they prefer tank build.. coz late game nolan is squishy as diggie in early game 😂😂... 1shot nolan went to the moon
But... Damage build is more fun 😝
If his passive is true damage, he can tank i think. He will be every tanks nightmare.
Which will be the best lifesteal item for nolan
Bloodlust Axe, but I've tried it and the sustain isn't that insane. I'd rather go for more damage, or an actual Defense item.
@@RubyRubyRubyGaming will endless be good in Nolan's build?
And BTW please give me one skin 🥺please🙏🙏🙏
@@shanglithonger It's pretty good if you can trigger the passive often, otherwise it's weaker than what I suggested in terms of damage.
I'm broke man 😓

There's no sustain. I can't play him like this. I need either Killing Spree or Endless Battle for sustain
Yeah, his sustain is really poor. Endless Battle doesn't really add much sustain tbh.
@@RubyRubyRubyGamingeven bloodlust
Nolan can't damage a good enemy assassin jungler. Basically he struggles versus most assassins. But he feast on slow tanky junglers as they got cc but Nolan completely negates that with his ult (no energy cost and very low cd). Immobile marksman and mage's bane.
Yeah, more or less since his explosions have a delay. He has more of a damage Fighter playstyle than an Assassin, although he is tagged as an Assassin.
@@RubyRubyRubyGaming it is fair enough to tag him as assassin (mobile and high burst) but the delay on his rift (main dmg source) is easily countered by slippery heroes too. But he is really good at contesting turtle or lord because of his ult(purify effect+burst) + retri combo. Most assassins don't like prolonged teamfight but Nolan excelled on that one as long as he's got his blue buff. His re-engage potential is so good.
Is brute force breastplate good for nolan too?
I think it's decent if you're snowballing, but because he's so squishy, you really want a solid tanky item instead of Brute Force Breastplate
lots of other assasins are better then him so not a priority he is not that strong gusion and lanclot can easily kill him no problem he will become like lyla strong in very top tier players and trash in low level players but he is fun to play thats for sure and fun is what most player want.
Nolan's skill CDs tho are DISGUSTING
Pretty cool hero tho, would def ban
Not a ban priority to me tho above Valir, Harley, Martis, & recently Mathilda
