Crystal Lake, drop down the hole to the lake there and you can stand on the edge of the lake and mostly AFK farm a variety of pokemon. Cleffa, Carbink, Ekans, Bronzor, Salandit and Glimmora in the tunnel and Feebas, Barboach and Wiscash will spawn in the lake.
Also if you have a Pokémon following you and you click the left stick your character will whistle which tells the Pokemon to stay still so then you can selfie with them
I noticed that I can now zoom out two levels by clicking R3 and then cycling back to the closest zoom level. Hopefully that's new information and not me just not noticing something from before!
One thing ill add is that the time of day is permanent until story progression (starts as day until progression, then dusk). No matter how much real time passes

For those that maybe walked away from the games but are trying out the dlc and want to alocate what resources they have to tried and tested mons. Especially those that came over from pokemon home
It is easy. Get an Azumaril with adamant nature and huge power hidden ability. EV train Attack and HP. Give it Shell bell and the egg move belly drum. Use moves play rough, liquidation, and ice punch / superpower. For literally any raid….pick anything and it will still dominate with super effective moves or not.
There’s also the customization of your map app etc border and the customization of your menu border (just area specific or regular) The map one is based on your rotom case though
3:59 Can confirm that when I played through the DLC story a second time, that Milotic is uncatchable. Some of this was definitely helpful for me. I've gotten a good number of the hard to evolve Pokemon thanks to raids from other people. Thank goodness, too. Evolving the trade ones in particular would've been a nightmare
For me the boxes are better, but still take a little time to load (show some pokeball icons). Not so smooth as in the austin's video. Maybe it was on first load of the sprites, idk, but mine are not so smooth ;-; Also: the milotic encounter, in the story, isn't catchable
Sadly, you could not catch that Milotic. The game just doesn’t let you have it easily 😭😭😭 but , hopefully, it might appear on raids so I’m gonna check my raids everyday.
You can also lock the minimap now! This was something I wanted very badly, I hate when my minimap turns. If you have the map app open, click the right stick twice and that should lock it!
I like the introduction of Blood Moon Ursaluna, I hope that variants like this that we've seen in the anime, Giant Dragonite, Crystal Onyx, will make it's debut sometime in future games.
The main thing I wonder is if you're planning to do a guide of easy isolated encounter mons again like with the base game. That would really help me select what to hunt(/hunt first)
I honestly think it isle of armor had a lot more to do. Its really fun, but if part 2 isn't bigger than the crown thundra, we're literally paying more for less....
since the Sinnoh eggs are random: You can save before you talk to Jacq, go through the cutscene (I know, it's annoying), and hatch the egg when you get it. If it's not the starter you want, reset and you'll be at the same place you saved at. I did this when I wanted Piplup specifically. I saved and when I ended up getting Chimchar, I reset and on my next egg, I got Piplup. (Or if this process is too tedious, you can just transfer the Sinnoh starters from Home, as said in the video.)
They also fixed the pokedex. It no longer repeats the same few pokemon if u scroll too fast and it saves ur place, so u dont gave to scroll back every time
I don't know if I was the first to discover this. I'm probably not, but there is technically an infinite money glitch, in mossfell confluence you can buy syrupy apples for 500 pokedollars, but syrupy apples sell in shop for 550 pokedollars, so while very inconvenient you can grind buying syrupy apples in mass and selling them for profit
It was never a new feature, it was available before the DLC released. You just had to push in the right joystick I think.😅 Sorry you just found this out.
On the Tablecloth's for chairs things, if you have all the tablecloths ... the man gives you a set of 2 of EVERY herba mystica. You do not need to have unlocked 5 star raids or even completed the main story, you just need every tablecoth. So the school one you start with all those purchasable in Mesagoza, Levincia, and the Water Gym city (I forget its name) ... and the one you get from beating the Olive Roll mini-game under 2 and a half minutes. If you have all of those cloths and speak to the man after he makes the chairs he'll give you the herba mystica. I know people can farm it, but it is a way to get Herba Mystica without beating the game.
I started the DLC and once we get off the bus and the cutscene ends and you can start moving again a shiny Yanma popped up right in front of me. Two seconds into the DLC and I already have my first shiny. I didn’t even start the story portion of DLC until I registered all of the Pokémon that were just out that I didn’t have to complete anything to access.
Good to see the Pokémon Boxes work properly now. The overall game feels a little more stable too. Too bad all the legendaries are still shiny locked for some reason.
The reason is probably cuz they plan to release them as an event distribution (like Zacian and Zamazenta. Unless they decide to hate us and never give it out (looking at you Magearna and Victini) Overall I feel like the stuttering and freezing is actually more prominent in Kitakami. I don't remember stuttering much in Paldea
Another feature that got added is one more option for the map (you now have 3 as opposed to 2). Not sure if it's the Teal Mask DLC that did this or if it's just the update in general but you can now have the apps and maps locked, this means that the map will always stay still, no matter what, even if you're moving. A small feature but, honestly, it's really good as it has helped me to not be disoriented/confused when I explore the whole place. You can access/select this feature by opening your map (Y button) and then pressing the R analog stick on your controller.

Note: if you see a trade evo raid den, please share if you can. Most (definitely not all…) players actually have passable raid teamwork and builds now, so it shouldn’t set you back to raid online.
Also if you have a Pokémon following you and you click the left stick your character will whistle which tells the Pokemon to stay still so then you can selfie with them
Not being able to get a shiny blood moon Ursuluna is single handedly the most devastating bit of information I've ever received
No wonder I couldn’t get my chimecho 😂
This feels like it may be a big ask but if you ever find the time could we please get a updated tour of your recomended usful raid teams. For those that maybe walked away from the games but are trying out the dlc and want to alocate what resources they have to tried and tested mons. Especially those that came over from pokemon home
I’d love that, too. I haven’t played in quite a while
@thomasriffe5982 huge power isn't it's hidden ability, sap sipper is
There’s also the customization of your map app etc border and the customization of your menu border (just area specific or regular)
The map one is based on your rotom case though
You’re like our real life Pokémon professor
Also, the stairs leading up to the Crystal Pool looks like a VERY easy egg hatching place.

Can confirm that when I played through the DLC story a second time, that Milotic is uncatchable. For the Milotic I even tried seeing if KOing Carmine's entire team would allow you to access PokeBalls. It does not...but I did confirm that she has no special dialogue from doing that which was surprising considering how she is.
Edit: Ariados you can catch though
I caught the Ariados thinking it might have a mark. It did not.
@bipedaloser that one i overlooked then ty
Editing that.
If an NPC reacts to the sounds you can make when taking selfies that means they are either a Zoroark or Ditto
They fixed the ability to trigger your birthday at the Pokemon Center through date skipping, but you CAN still get the Destiny Mark if the date is set correctly! For masochists like me trying to get all Shiny female Eeveelutions with a Destiny Mark, you can!
I was wondering if they were gonna introduce a way to get apricorn balls easier, I hate going to the auction and leaving disappointed 😂
I’m really hoping this changes in Part 2. I need my apricorn balls.
@@jjveliz10 I need them too. They made it easier to get them in the first DLC of SwSh (rather than just gives or random reward from the Wyndon after first win of the day). Hopefully we get it easier in Indigo Disk.
I still get the delayed pop ups when swapping boxes. However if I scroll through each box and let everything load then it’s noticeably faster
Fun Fact: when in selfie mode and choosing which music you want in the background it’ll play an updated Johto battle theme
LETS DO THIS!
This DLC is really cool finished the story yesterday the ending got me hyped for the next Part!! Kieran’s Villain arc is beginning…
I'm curious whether Kieran goes Villain arc or Shippuden arc 😂 he tried so hard to win and his team is actually strong, especially that Belly Drum Polywrath.
I am disappointed Aven, Penny and Nemonia didn't join the adventure. Otherwise I an enjoying it
I'm pretty sure the reason they don't go is because you can start it as soon as you start the treasure hunt
Yeah, I thought we'll go with the usual party but turns out it's just three NPC randos 😂
@@some_random_guy5763 You are most likely correct about that.
Theres a sidequest with Nemona's parents in Kitakami.
@@benten6539 They are not confirmed to be Nemona's parents. They are merely believed to be given the evidence we have.
Some of this was definitely helpful for me.
I've gotten a good number of the hard to evolve Pokemon thanks to raids from other people.
Thank goodness, too. Evolving the trade ones in particular would've been a nightmare
For me the boxes are better, but still take a little time to load (show some pokeball icons). Not so smooth as in the austin's video. Maybe it was on first load of the sprites, idk, but mine are not so smooth ;-;
Also: the milotic encounter, in the story, isn't catchable
They finally added map markers for where all the Star squad bases are in Paldea which is really nice, even tho they’re defeated they’re not forgotten.
As far as the last bit, yeah I FINALLY got my shiny Hatenna by Picnic resetting at a rock by the mountain. Got it within a couple minutes…
As far as I’m aware, the static milotic encounter cannot be caught. There’s no option to use pokeballs during that battle.
I got a shiny swanna on accident when I ran into the Tera one! I was SHOOK.
I like how the nurse is like Nurse Joy’s niece who’s only there for a summer job. She doesn’t seem that interested lol
Let the DLC content begin!!!
one video and is done
Totally
Sadly, you could not catch that Milotic. The game just doesn’t let you have it easily 😭😭😭 but , hopefully, it might appear on raids so I’m gonna check my raids everyday.
Was about to say. Since it's a double battle, you normally can't catch Pokemon.
I've seen a Milotic raid when I checked what was available online.
Milotic appears as 5 star raids a lot
"Why was it horrible before?" Because the pokemon company has outright admitted to opting for quick releases over quality assurance...
I was at 99 in the Kitakami Pokedex when I started the DLC, with a complete Paldea dex.
Were you missing Quagsire? You could get a Johtonian wooper in S/V and evolve it before the DLC was out
You can also lock the minimap now! This was something I wanted very badly, I hate when my minimap turns. If you have the map app open, click the right stick twice and that should lock it!
Why do we need a selfie stick for a flying phone
[watches boxes load instantly] It shouldn't have taken so long for this to work properly, but I'm SO glad it does now.
I couldn't catch the milotic, my bag didn't have a ball tab during that encounter so that info might be incorrect
You can catch Milotic from 6 star raids. Few other pokemon that require special items/processes too can be caught in the raids.
Item duplication is now also fixed. If you want to duplicate some masterballs and ability patches: don't update yet.
Was there another bug I never heard about or is it still the Miraidon box thing?
@@Fritz_Haarmann Still the Miraidon box trick.
@@lmr4403 I got ecxited
I like the introduction of Blood Moon Ursaluna, I hope that variants like this that we've seen in the anime, Giant Dragonite, Crystal Onyx, will make it's debut sometime in future games.
Thanks for the info Austin. Excited to play this DLC once I get home. Looks like I also need to rewatch your old shiny hunting methods lmao.
The main thing I wonder is if you're planning to do a guide of easy isolated encounter mons again like with the base game. That would really help me select what to hunt(/hunt first)
Jangmo is a really good one! I forgot what canyon but i picked up a girl and a boy shiny with one sandwhich, they were everywhere!
You can do an isolate shiny hunt for Litwick on the Crystal Pool since is the only ghost type that appears there (or at least in the day/afternoon)
I think, I haven't tested it yet, we can single encounter polchageist with a ghost sandwich. Especially being a ghost that spawns during the day
ah good old gamefreak locking quality of life changes behind the dlc for the 2nd game in a row
Overall decent DLC with some nice quality of life changes. However, I do feel like the isle of armour was a stronger DLC
I honestly think it isle of armor had a lot more to do. Its really fun, but if part 2 isn't bigger than the crown thundra, we're literally paying more for less....
since the Sinnoh eggs are random:
You can save before you talk to Jacq, go through the cutscene (I know, it's annoying), and hatch the egg when you get it.
For once I am watching an Austin John video after I completed everything in the dlc
It wouldn't let me select Pokéballs during the Milotic static encounter, so I couldn't catch it
They also fixed the pokedex. It no longer repeats the same few pokemon if u scroll too fast and it saves ur place, so u dont gave to scroll back every time
That one I noticed it and was like yooo finally
I wish that the DLC for both Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet would be less than the retail price so I can afford both of them.
There’s a new feature for the mini map where you can lock it to always be facing north as well!
you should not have to pay extra for a simple feature most rpgs have.
It was never a new feature, it was available before the DLC released. You just had to push in the right joystick I think.😅
Sorry you just found this out.
@@missjessjx wow lol
@@missjessjx just checked the patch notes. It was added in this update.
@@lionablaze8747 it’s available to everyone who updates the game. Not just people who bought the DLC… but okay
Haven’t play the DLC yet! So Hyped to play it! Your best Austin!
Still think the selfie stick is pointless since rotom can float
Boxes being fixed is so good omg
I am SO glad I'm not alone in taking that snapshot of the photo Perrin shares. It's so cool!
Good to see the Pokémon Boxes work properly now. The overall game feels a little more stable too. Too bad all the legendaries are still shiny locked for some reason.
The reason is probably cuz they plan to release them as an event distribution (like Zacian and Zamazenta. Unless they decide to hate us and never give it out (looking at you Magearna and Victini)
Overall I feel like the stuttering and freezing is actually more prominent in Kitakami. I don't remember stuttering much in Paldea
Honestly it's a bit sad that it took them 10 months of implementing relatively little fixes
There is level scaling in the DLC. If you haven't finished the main story yet it's going to stay at basic levels of 12 to 55
(Around 8:50) Ah Thank Arceus they Finally gave us an EV Reset outside of the berries that aren't growable this gen!
Only save and reset if you want to quick ball them
Dude I was fixing my boxes yesterday and I didn't even realize how much better it was. Should have never taken this long but glad it's done
Why do we need a selfie stick with an independently floating Rotom phone? I've complained about this before and will continue to do so lmao
Sweet I was waiting for something like this thank you! I haven’t gotten a chance to play I’ve been working but I’m off the rest of the week so I’ll be happy to turn this on asap
Do you mean the mini map??
I think that’s new but the big map was always like that
It was a toggle between rotating the big map or keeping it static
I don’t remember the mini map part being there before though
1:13 Oh jeez, how many shines do you have?! What deity loves you THAT much?!
You had me at boxes were fixed!
They also fixed the camera rotation in a lot of areas. At least thats what i believe. Cause when i enter a cave now i cant see through walls anymore
Is it just me or do the graphics in the DLC area look so much better? The overworld feels so much more alive and vibrant.
Just you.
@@PlazDreamweaver Not the entire game, I'm talking about just the DLC area. There is absolutely some improvement. Maybe not to the overall graphics but it definitely doesn't feel as barren as Paldea did. But even the trees and grass etc look so much crisper. Still lots of glitches tho.
@@Blitzbrie yeah, no man it still looks bad
I like that we can filter through learnable tm’s in the shop now… will help a lot when looking at which moves to teach Mew!
