I learned a lot from this video- Thank You! It puzzled me why it took Magpul so long to bring a translucent AR mag to market. No small accomplishment. I’m glad they stuck with it.
@@APHawk There is a little nub at the top of the rail in the front of the tmag that the endomag will have to pop by, but it is already cut out to accomodate it and should just pop right in. At worst just give it a little push. If you look at the body of the tmag after pulling out its guts youll see what i mean and where the endomag is designed to accomodate it.

This is a great presentation. I have so many PMags that I don't have the space or need for any TMags. The crazy part is that I just learned the features of the PMag by watching this video about TMags.
I primarily use stainless mags, but a few people online have said (and shown) that the EndoMag 9mm conversion internals still work with the Tmag so i'll certainly grab a few when i see them in a store just for that project.
I’ve tested all generations of the Pmag in long-term storage and the GEN three with the Ranger clips are the best way for long-term storage to take the spring load off of the feed lips absolutely love your guises. I’m definitely gonna pick up a few of these team not kind ofsounds like teabag lol
As far as what I used, the T Mag is cool I would say the color spring should be something like red or orange instead of white because you can barely see the white indicator.
So I assume the CMMG 9mm conversion inserts I use in standard Pmags would work in this new Tmag? I might be interested just to show off those red lipstick150 grain Syntechs I love so much.
I miss my OD green mags, I have different loads in Tan and Black, have to spray paint gen 3 mags (that's not easy in winter). The over insertion stop is a big deal when 250lb construction dude has flash back and slams new mag into well like someone is still shooting back. I've over ridden mag catch and bent issued aluminum feed lips. I want a few Tmags yesterday.
Apparently, the colors can affect the strength of the polymer in colder conditions. FDE feed lips busy more than the black ones according to Alaska stationed guys.
@@AJohnSmith As long as you keep the temperature below 190 there's no issues. I work with polymer and rubber temperature is the main thing that changes the product the most
You already need to fix the T-mags, in a full mag the second round in can start to over ride the first and won't insert on a closed bolt. You need to bring back the groove on the inside of the mag that sits along the case wall and prevents the the problem under the flex of the feed lips.

I noticed these do not come with the clip-on top cover like gen M3 PMAG’s (even though they fit on them). Is there a reason for that? It seems to me that there would be even more of a need to keep a cap on these when stored loaded to keep tension off of the (more fragile) feed lips.

Came here to point that out. Those are clearly Magpul selector levers. That was my big hope with the AMAG, that it would be successful enough for Magpul to go after other metal mags with silly prices
@Mandalore6311 ever used a 3d printer? The medium used to create your product (your cad file) determines its durability and lifespan. There are cheap polymers (your cads break easily) and there are more expensive durable stronger polymers. That hold up much better. Then add to the fact you have to add more expense i to making the more expensive polymer a clear medium while retaining it's durability and strength. If price is your concern. Just purchase a good ole pmag. Serves the same purpose. Is the tmag a novelty of sorts.. sure but in reality so is every other new,in,hip,now and wow item you can clamp or bolt onto your AR platform all pushed onto the masses by youtube university. 😂😂😂

Not the TMAG or any other polymer magazine. A lot of people got excited when the AMAG came out, since there are a lot of metal magazines that are way more expensive than they should be. Like MP5 mags, which the OP and I were talking about. Looking carefully at the shirt, it does look like a PMAG patterned MP5 mag. I don't care what it's made out of, I trust Magpul to do it right.
I think it’s a red flag that the mpx and cz scorpian originally had clear mags and then transitioned to opaque black ones. The mpx specifically used clear lancers
@@xj53pq7 I have a bunch of clear MPX mags, as well as a ton of 5.56 Lancer mags. Been beating on them for years now with no issues. I don't get this weird mentality that only one company can make good polymer mags.
@@xj53pq7 that might be more cost and production capacity driven, my clear MPX magazines work great. The magwell of the MPX was originally designed to accept caliber conversions for 10mm and 45acp, so the 9mm magazines end up being really beefy. Mine have survived mostly fully loaded drops in USPSA and hit factor matches just fine. Lancer isn't as big of a shop as Magpul so their ability to keep up with production demands is also an issue.
my lancers feed more reliably in my assortment of ar15 magazine accepting 5.56 rifles, the thinner feedlips allow for better feeding. pmags can never be quite as reliable because of that. ive bent a few lancer mags, but i bent it back and still functions better than pmags. pmags are the most reliable all polymer mags i've used, yeah, but they feel vastly outdated. lancer figured out long ago that the pros for transparent mags far outweigh the few cons, with the mix of reliable feed lips, there's no question until a better product comes out.

I just want to not pay $50 for an MP5 magazine. I already have 20 of them with 10 sitting in the original packaging as it is my favorite gun to shoot. A cheaper alternative with the same reliability of a PMAG would be awesome.
8:24 If I may ask but looking at the front of the follower it looks like the TMAG like the Gen3 PMAG has a front rib running down the length of the inside mag body. Is that correct? I ask because I shoot .458 SOCOM and .50 Beowulf and because of that rib I have to use Gen2 mags and only 30 rounders at that. I hope one day to see a PMAG for the big bore market so I can load far more than 10 rounds.
Might be late but possibly having a normal black bottom instead of translucent. Similar to Tango Down MK3 magazine might make the magazine stronger. I don't know why Glock never made a steel magazine for 5.56 I also hope maybe you'll make it in 308
I bought a few and like them except for one thing. When my hands are sweaty there are just so slick that I can't get good purchase on them. I wish they had some texturing or stippling.
Those mags are great because they were designed with the system from the ground up, versus trying to achieve the same performance in a more restrictive footprint that was designed around aluminum magazines
Magpul will never remade the Emags and straight 20’s anymore. The Emags has basically become the Gen 3 Pmag and Magpul even said themselves that the straight 20s don’t feed as reliable than the curved gen 3 mags. Not saying I don’t want them to reproduce these because Emags and the straight 20s look so dope but I don’t think Magpul would do this.
Using this standard PMAG opaque polymer for the feed lips but adding carbon fiber woven mat reinforcement would probably be more effective. The problem with metal feed lips is choosing a metal that won't corrode and isn't likely to bend, while also not being too expensive to use.
Very good job saying the TMAG is not as good as the M3 PMAG, without saying that. And clearly saying it is more than good enough. lol. I have 3. they are great, of course. I'd like some .300 BLK versions for subsonic ammo. I'd like 12 of those, so a just a short run no biggie. There might be a couple other folks that want a few also.
Fine. I’ll buy some more Magpul mags (still want OD Green though) and I’ll also buy a Glock. So I can get mags for them as well instead of scrambling every time CZ has P10c mags in stock (and pay 4 times as much). I’m sure it’d be a huge pain but I really wish Magpul made more than just Glock pistol mags.
I just wish you would have had the waffle pattern for grip/rigidity and possibly better drop test performance. Also since they are new and more expensive, dust cover!
Can you make just the front of the mag clear instead of the whole thing. I only really need to see the projectile not the whole casing. Think that would allow everyone to have the best of both worlds.
TMAGs are a neat concept, maybe Magpul will fix the issues with the followers breaking when empty magazines are dropped. I'd buy a gen2 TMAG right away.
Why not make only the top portion of the TMAG without the transparency so that it will be strong with reinforcing fibers and leave the rest of the magazine, the bottom 80% translucent?

I used the TMag bodies for my 9mm Endomags so I can clearly see that they are 9mm converted mags, it works beautifully.

Sounds dumb but people sometimes put in a 31st round and it causes issues.

What kind of out of spec rifle are you running? These fit anderson, psa, aero, springfield, and sig loaded on closed bolt all day.

Same on my gun. The rounds start trying to occupy the same space and it won't feed into the gun. Unless you gently insert it, it won't insert.

They won't pass the spec he quoted, mostly because they are not as drop-rugged. There is a reason that the PMAG is preferred by so many users.
False. For years, we have been asking for not only tmags but also emags, 20 round straight mags and waffle mag maker.
I'd love to hear your reasons why those should be produced.

Magpul will never remade the Emags and straight 20’s anymore. The Emags has basically become the Gen 3 Pmag and Magpul even said themselves that the straight 20s don’t feed as reliable than the curved gen 3 mags.
Not saying I don’t want them to reproduce these because Emags and the straight 20s look so dope but I don’t think Magpul would do this.

Perhaps a hybrid magazine design, where the box is translucent polymer and the feeds lips are metal would be better.
Using this standard PMAG opaque polymer for the feed lips but adding carbon fiber woven mat reinforcement would probably be more effective. The problem with metal feed lips is choosing a metal that won't corrode and isn't likely to bend, while also not being too expensive to use.
Please make a magazine for the Grendel/ARC class of cartridges!!!

Very good job saying the TMAG is not as good as the M3 PMAG, without saying that. And clearly saying it is more than good enough. lol. I have 3. they are great, of course. I'd like some .300 BLK versions for subsonic ammo. I'd like 12 of those, so a just a short run no biggie. There might be a couple other folks that want a few also.
Fine. I’ll buy some more Magpul mags (still want OD Green though) and I’ll also buy a Glock. So I can get mags for them as well instead of scrambling every time CZ has P10c mags in stock (and pay 4 times as much). I’m sure it’d be a huge pain but I really wish Magpul made more than just Glock pistol mags.
Perhaps reinforcing fibers in the areas that don't need to be translucent? Pmag on the ends, Tmag in the middle.
I just wish you would have had the waffle pattern for grip/rigidity and possibly better drop test performance. Also since they are new and more expensive, dust cover!

30 round 6.5 Grendel mag would be great. As a little curve as possible. I’m sure Grendel/ARC shooters agree
TMAGs are a neat concept, maybe Magpul will fix the issues with the followers breaking when empty magazines are dropped. I'd buy a gen2 TMAG right away.
Why not make only the top portion of the TMAG without the transparency so that it will be strong with reinforcing fibers and leave the rest of the magazine, the bottom 80% translucent?
