Guys, Qi La La is likely going to come visit the US West Coast this fall, so I will keep you guys posted on this. I'm slowly helping him plan it along with his Sisuk Frank. Let me know if any of you on the West Coast would love to come to LA if Qi La La does a seminar!
I saw Sanda throw, quite a bit of trapping there, wing chun blocks, every kung fu move he tried worked...but the thing is that it doesnt have enough knocking power. Thats his whole thing. Also, he never followed up with his attacks. He stops every time he got one punch in. Its such a waste man. I can see where the kung fu "drills" get in the way of his fights since he's used to stop attacking once he hits the target & resets. I’m rooting for him though. He might be the only one strictly using / exploring Kung Fu in the kickboxing scene right now.
The “sanda” throw would probably be legal with most MT refs. There wasn’t any leg reaping contact, and it was essentially a front facing throw with a bit of turning.
You should ask him to show what his Xinyiliuhequan training looks like and then how he applies it to sparring. Viewers will find that educational. I reckon few here knows what it even looks like.
I think he deserved the win. He landed the harder kicks, he neutralized all of MT guy's flurries, he dominated the clinches. But he spent too much energy showboating instead of hitting his opponent.
The more I am looking into this, the more impractical it's looking. Why use WC (or anything else) in a Kickboxing match? The context decides the style. The context could be the sport, the environment including the empty space, flooring etc.
@@HiroIndo16 but that's the point. How do you define WC? From my (limited) knowledge: very aggressive fight system, striking in clinch/ stand up Grappling range, a focus on volume of non stop hits vs a few power loaded strikes which will be slower because of the need to load up etc. I'm not even getting into the eye jabs a stuff. (Lemme come back n edit this for more points later! Gotta go now!)
Yeah, too much flair for sure. He really shined when clinching. He always got the underhook and neck frame, which he uses to throw the guy. I'm not sure how strikes and throws are scored in this format, maybe he got the win because he landed so many throws.
Deff flaired too much, not even kung fu at some point, just plain flair lol. I don't think he ate much more strikes than the muay thai guy. He got a few takedowns that got things even and he shows more initiative than muay thai guy. It might be unnecessarily risky, he seemed way too confident against this rival. I wouldn't worry he's just gonna start fighting like this now tho, he must have seen he could get away with it with this guy lol.
He is the better fighter, so he can get away here with impractical stuff like jump spinning backfists. Won't work against someone like Buakaw or Saenchai.

throws are indeed allowed in Muay Thai, specifically from the clinch position
Im in az but id go to LA in the fall for a Qi La La seminar for sure
I'm gonna see if I can try to come to LA I would like to workout with Qi La La.
3:26 the muay thai person looked like Jerry without glasses
He might be looking to create clips for a highlights reel, or else he's just having fun, but he looked deadly serious
depending on reflexes alone for defense is too risky for me
I prefer the high Thai guard
Even if I space out I'm still guarded with that
To use kungfu inma or ring. He should watch " Adiwang vs Manuel Huerta in one championship.
wow thank you for this I love mma guys using more traditional striking arts to fight
Jerry's UA-cam Kung Fu is good
I just want to see Qi La La spar with Jeff Chan.
I probably wouldn’t use too much Kung Fu Wing Chun with boxing gloves
They should stop using boxing gloves
It's like using Savate without shoes.
Every Kung Fu technique, every strategy he did worked.
Yeah. But it wasn't powerful enough 😂 at the end blunter force wins
@HiroIndo16 sharp force is the better force in general, but with these gloves, yeah I see the advantage of blunter strikes.
That’s not Kung Fu flair, just flair…
That was some Gut wreching fight for both of them 🎉
I want to see Qi La La start absolutely dominating with traditional styles

Keep your head protected ar all times is my only comment.
For qilala - more hands up training.
For the mt guy - you won this match in my book. Decent.

I'm reminded of Muhammad Ali
He should add mantis to his arsenal
I feel since he's had so many fights at thia point he enjoys playing around like this 🤷♂️

He is going for that Yiquan Mastery

When he stops using wing Chun it will defeat the whole purpose of him trying to make it work.

Someday i would like to train and workout with Qi La La maybe i can learn something from him.
I would just call that showboating
Nah, he's enjoying it
Qi La La does Caricatures of Kung Fu elements.
5:00 bro wut?? 😂
they need to put Qi la La with a Buakaw or Rod Tang so he can understand true power.
why?
Qi La La moving towards JKD

😂 particitipatation
😅😅
Yeah it was definitely a draw
