Fun/Sad fact: There's an actual boy who lived in a bubble named David Vetter. He was born in 1971 with severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID), and was forced to live in a specially constructed sterile plastic bubble from birth until he died at the age of 12. May he rest in peace.
there is also a movie where the mother of a teenage girl claimed she had scid but at the end she just wanted to protect her because her husband and son died somehow. I dont know the name of the movie anymore but at the end the girl got to know that she is a healthy person

That last scene with the car..I feel like I ever watched this. This is a nice ending to his 'condition' when in real life this having no immune exists. I forgot the name but I assume some of you know the kid who had it and passed away after getting the stem cells infused to his body (it was contaminated or smth). This movie might be inspired from him. Rest in peace. He's a hero.
"You're not dead jimmy...."
"I'm not?"
I laughed so hard XD!
Let's ignore the abuse for a moment, the illegality of that and the father being on board... The fact that he has been in a bubble his whole life means that he, in fact, doesn't have any immunity to anything. A simple sneeze could kill him
He prolly still has a weakish immune system.
Even with the best sterilization tech there are still the "corpses" of virus, bacteria and fungus present within the microstructures of surfaces that are disenfected. The body in general is very efficient at dealing with foriegn material.
The things that make us sick to death are usually fungus/virus/ bacteria that have evolved specifically to infect us/ counter our defenses
Plot twist the sterilizing gas was filled with some germs so His immunity System wouldnt break If He gets out
@@journeyoflife9159 smart
They were 2 random civilians, not the CDC. There is no way that bubble system they had set up in the house was actually effective as keeping him sterile. I thought the same thing you did when I watched this and realized there was no way that bubble actually worked.
Welcome to a homeschool, anti-vax upbringing in the Southern USA.
Actually, his mother would MAKE him have a really shitty immune system BECAUSE he kept him in a sterile environment.
Yep, totally agree.
But this movie has a lot of holes in it, so it's best not to think about it...
But that wasn't the point of why she kept him in there anyways. She was just insanely overprotective and didn't want to expose him to the outside world at all (probably not just germs but rather thugs and other dangers). She only lied to him about his condition because she wanted to scare him from the outside world.
@@FurryDanOriginal the point of the comment is, the mother may have lied about the condition, but keeping Jimmy in a completely sterile environment for 18+ years would weaken his immune system. Since he had no contact with any germs or diseases, his body was completely unequipped to handle even the common cold when he catches it later in life.
The reason the mother kept him that way is basically unrelated in this conversation. We're not talking about why, we're talking about what happens to Jimmy as a result.
Also the kid was subject to bullying for literally no reason because the mother wanted to "keep him safe."
@@depressoespresso5774 yeah I get this point. I just thought the point of that comment was not to tell the outcome of what this sterile lifestyle would result in but rather to tell that the mother was stupid because her desired result would be the opposite of the actual one. But I think everyone can agree either way that what the mother did is inhumane to the next level. What's the point of living when you're trapped in a prison your entire life. Better take some risks and enjoy it.
@@FurryDanOriginal Life is full of risks, dangers, and mistakes. I understand that she wanted to protect her son from that, but she took it to the extreme.
Of course, it's a more extreme example of parents being extremely protective of their children and not allowing them to live their lives and make mistakes.

@@ryderthesinful i'm not talking about the circumstances of the relationship's formation, just the number of participants so the first half of the comment isn't really directed at me
if you have a problem with the movie not building on it, that's the producer's fault and not the fault of the romantic system itself. Again, invalid argument
also, wouldn't showing support for a progressive idea be a good thing anyways. you tack on that last bit like it's a negative.
@@MFlari Well I WAS referring to the circumstances in the original comment (also the fact it wasn't supported at that time), as I am well aware of what poly relationships are. And no, at that time it wouldn't be a good idea. Like supporting gays in the 80s. It wasn't a smart move on their part because of the views on it at that time; you need to wait until there are less misconceptions about a concept before using it in a story or else it could cause it to crumble or your views be misconstrued. As the movie is a comedy, it didn't get much backlash, but it would have had it been a bit different.

Such durability for a homemade bubble by a shutoff child. Also convenient that it can be just torn from inside.
WOAH ALMOST AS IF ITS SATIRE 🤯
Plot convenience. Also, if something that durable exists, I'd be buying rn.
Well, the previous damage the bubble had endured throughout the story obviously compromised the structural integrity of the bubble, allowing it to be more easily destroyed, later, by human hand.
Dude it's a comedy movie with a comical plot 💀
all of that time inside gave him super strength
The ending with Jimmy’s parents and the biker is actually quite wholesome. Mr. Livingston seemed like a chill guy who went with whatever that was going on. So biker probably said ‘your wife was the love of my life but I see she’s happy now, I’ll leave you be.’ And Mr. Livingston was like ‘I don’t mind polyamory, and I’ve always wanted to ride a bike, let me go ask my wife what she thinks.’
