About 10% of all people can't really enjoy 3D movies, because....they aren't really 3D movies. A huge mistake (make about in every 3D movie) is to use depth-of-field like it's a 2D movie. The brain might realize that part of the picture is blurry because the eyes are focusing at a different distance...and re-focusing won't work. The eyes just get strained, the brain fails to orient itself in 3D space-time, and nausea can set in. The 3D movie is projected on a 2D screen. The eyes have to stay focused on that 2D screen, not on the perceived objects in 3D space. Fine as long as the apparent viewing distance of the 3D screens remains close to "infinity" (not closer than the distance to the screen, with all 3D action apparently playing behind the screen). So it's a big no-go to have anything appear in front of the screen. Of course, everyone thinks that's a great visual effect (like, ya know, worms or tentacles apparently attacking the audience...), so directors can't resist the temptation to turn a 3D movie into a 3D novelty show.

Never be good again ? Yeah, say that to the period of time when women were literal slaves to society and men. A woman could not work and be independent, because she was considered incapable. scientists were considered as mad people, intelligent women were considered witches and burned. People were literally tortured for the smallest mistakes, no equitable trial. No advanced medical facilities. Having to work for long periods, for very small pay was even more common back then. Racism was at it's best. Xenophobia the same. You wouldn't have survived that. You should be glad for what you have now and stop trying to live in an era that will never be yours.
Seemed like a knock-off of Invasion of the Body Snatchers with the MacGuffin from They Live and a tacked-on message that couldn't decide if it wanted to be progressive or conservative.

@Vargen Fjorton wdym metaphors aren't stupid if people can't understand them and the movie is sh*tty af as it's "metaphor" is just as dumb as the movie progresses.
Hopefully someone who has seen the whole movie can answer you, too. But for me, sometimes movies just had “sad” endings, which leave a lasting impression. The people claim they feel better, but the alien was both sucking their lives out and controlling them, so in a human sense it’s bad. But with one creature controlling everything, maybe the Earth will have a relative peace. If the people are immortal now, though, plus feeling happy in their zombie sense, then it’s maybe technically positive? But of course we don’t like mind control and things like that, so it always will seem a little weird from an outside perspective
Well, an unstoppable alien force has assimilated all of humanity and turned them into mindless extensions of its will. Sounds like a pretty dire ending to me.
going by what Zach said, if the hen-tie alien gives you the succ, you'll no longer feel pain or anxiety but that thing definitely brainwashes you too and turns you into its puppet, so yeah...Bad Ending unlocked sure, the """"moral"""" of the movie is that the older generation ha gotta accept modern tech, but another teaching of this movie is that we let modern tech and the things it brings (social media and other stuff like that) control us too much (like the freaky tentacle alien does)
Hearing this synopsis it sounds kinda pretentious and I still think it is. But I was suprised it didn't end with them defeating the alien. Was kinda expecting the generic "stop being stuck in the past" message and/or the "both generations can learn from each other" message. But this ending kinda gives a very original message, or so I interpret it: The uncle is indeed stuck in the past, but also the young people are being to naive and getting themself into a big mess. But the problem isn't that one of them are wrong, the problem is that both of the generations are too stuck on their bubble. If the niece listened to the uncle a bit more and if the uncle wasn't so anti new stuff, they would have each other's respect and thus be able to fight against the monster together. But having them be divided was what really lead to their downfall.
@@1972Villa it comes up in plenty of US TV shows. It seems to be about 50/50. Its nothing to do with being a native speaker. It's everything to do with people being id10ts. Are 2D shifter glasses really a thing? Because 3D movies are filmed with two separate cameras that mimick your eyes. Which is then passed through a light filter in the 3D glasses so each eye will get a slightly different image to trick your brain into seeing it in 3D.
They actually are a thing. The OG UA-camr Hank Green created a pair that does exactly this so that he could watch 3d movies with his wife. She gets really bad nausea from 3d films so the glasses mean she can still be there with him. The light "filter" is called a polarizer. It takes light that is travelling at all possible angles and sorts it to be a very specific angle. One camera projects light at 0° and the other at 90°. The lenses of the glasses have matching filters. A polarizer with a 0° angle will ONLY let light with the same angle through. None of the 90° angle light gets through. So... If you take a pair of glasses and install only the 0° lens on both sides, both eyes will get the same light and it will look 2d.

Of course, everyone thinks that's a great visual effect (like, ya know, worms or tentacles apparently attacking the audience...), so directors can't resist the temptation to turn a 3D movie into a 3D novelty show.

I just love that Dusty wears that John Carpenter Movie "They Live" T-Shirt the whole time, it is a nice throwback. In that movie special glasses and aliens also played a role.
The comment I was looking for, also a Roddy Piper type plaid shirt
@@jeremiahsmith4876 In that movie (from the 80s!) Roddy fights a guy to force the glasses on him so he can see the aliens for what they are, here it is reversed, the glasses are forced upon Dusty to brainwash him.
THATS EXACTLY WHAT I NOTICED!!!
The whole movie seems to be a modern version of that classic.
They live was better.....
Many Millennials are hitting their 40, they are not teenagers, they are not taking selfies everywhere they go. Even the younger Millennials will be soon 30. You are talking about the Gen Z or Alfa but certainly not Millennials.

@@olandoblen5791 I'm so sorry, I just watch these videos for fun, I had no idea
It came out in April 2017. Even Sarah Hyland, the actress who played Chloe, was 26 at the time. There are probably more millennials who act or feel like Patton Oswalt's character than any of the "teens" in this episode.
My ex was 47 and constantly taking selfies! Addicted to all the comments of how pretty or beautiful she was. Totally narcissistic and stuck on herself. Complete attention ho

Nah, he started off making lots of jokes when the channel began. Then he stopped (it sounded like, for a time, it was an AI copying his voice) but he has thankfully started back up and with even more jokes.
One has too make much jokes
This movie sounds like it was made by Dusty to represent the passage of time and how the things will never be good again
xd
@@CasualNotice libertarian-lite?

I’m not really getting why the alien needs people to watch the 3D movie when it seems to be able to infect people outside the theater without issue.
The plot is nonsensical but I imagine there’s loads of cinemas hence why the whole town has been turned to zombies maybe ? But good point
It's a metaphorical movie
@Vargen Fjorton wdym metaphors aren't stupid if people can't understand them and the movie is sh*tty af as it's "metaphor" is just as dumb as the movie progresses.
Because the glasses make it invisible probably
@@garrettferret5312 but it is invisible in real life too, he only saw it when he used the 2d glass
Is this a good ending or a bad ending? Were the aliens trying to help humans or torture them?
The whole movie is a metaphor that the old time uncle has to accept the new times (he has to accept the world of changing technology)
If they were making them watch *this* movie then they were obviously torturing them!!!
going by what Zach said, if the hen-tie alien gives you the succ, you'll no longer feel pain or anxiety
but that thing definitely brainwashes you too and turns you into its puppet, so yeah...Bad Ending unlocked
sure, the """"moral"""" of the movie is that the older generation ha gotta accept modern tech, but another teaching of this movie is that we let modern tech and the things it brings (social media and other stuff like that) control us too much (like the freaky tentacle alien does)
I always love movies with bad endings with a good story
true me too lol they’re really good
Good story??
Bad ending??

Plastic: Pardon me?
Hearing this synopsis it sounds kinda pretentious and I still think it is. But I was suprised it didn't end with them defeating the alien.
Was kinda expecting the generic "stop being stuck in the past" message and/or the "both generations can learn from each other" message.
But this ending kinda gives a very original message, or so I interpret it:
The uncle is indeed stuck in the past, but also the young people are being to naive and getting themself into a big mess.
