Investing in real estate and rental properties specifically has allowed us to achieve so many of the dreams we've had but it's time to say goodbye to this chapter.
If you've missed the last few episodes, we decided to buy a cabin, move into it and get comfortable for the winter. It has been a LONG 4 years of self building our home and it's time we start living again. Now that it's been a few weeks, this cozy cottage is exactly what our souls needed!

How did we end up here?
It all began with a year of full-time travel, embracing the van life until the world shifted, and we had to adjust accordingly. With travel no longer an option but determined to stay productive, we transformed our compact mobile abode into a self-sufficient off-grid dwelling that fulfilled all our needs. Recognizing the uncertainty of the current tiny home, we quickly realized a permanent residence was the most sensible choice. Over the past three years, we have meticulously overseen every aspect of the project ourselves, planning the construction while simultaneously setting up the off-grid property to sustain our future food requirements. For the last two years we've lived in a Geodesic Dome, which has allowed us to be comfortable (expect for the winter months), while we realize our shipping container home dream. However, this will mark our 4th winter with stable electricity, running water, or a flushing toilet and time has come to come up with a new plan going forward.

We’ve tackled a lot of projects but I think we’re officially NUTS for taking this one on…Dad jokes aside, we actually didn’t realize how risky this was until a week later when the remediation company followed up on when we wanted them to start. As it turns out, squirrels have VERY dangerous droppings that have to be handled in a particular way with respirators (and NOT be swept up so it becomes air borne). They contain leptospirosis, which is not to be messed around with. We definitely should’ve done more research and not just assumed that the high price tag wasn’t for a good reason…a very important lesson learned! 😲
Happy Easter Day to all my dear Gay mates and to all the LGBT people 🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️🏳️⚧️🏳️⚧️🏳️⚧️✝️✝️✝️✝️✝️✝️✝️
You two are the best, no one else is posting anymore. At least you guys don't disappoint.
Yikes! 😱
There's a very dangerous illness called hadza virus or something at Yosemite, and one in three people die from it, carried by mice droppings dust. Eek
Oh no! Should you guys be tested to make sure you didn't catch the leptospirosis? I heard you can take antibiotics for it to go away. Wow, so much work, you need to rest for a week at least!
Boys, boys, boys. If either of you feel like you’re coming down with a cold or the flu during the next 2-4 weeks, GO TO THE DOCTOR immediately and tell them about your adventure with a garageful of squirrel droppings. Retired Auntie RN here.
Absolutely!! We’re actually kind of embarrassed we did this! Can’t believe we didn’t make that connection given they are rodents after all!
Auntie RN you are so right but please guys, don't wait. If you can both get checked out now, so they can check your blood and catch a baseline and make a plan to monitor you both. With all the health issues and external stressor and loss of grandpa, really, take nothing for granted. I saw the promo clip and can't/ couldn't watch, so I jumped on here. Don't compound the boo boo by waiting for another oops to happen. My other suggestion would be dandylion tea with Manuka honey. A very happy "strip your liver and sleep of cooties drink". See Dr. BERG'S boost your immune system naturally vids. I for one could not bare it if anything were to happen to one of you! You don't want to You Tube the loss of your mate! So last word if we ever meet in 3D life you're both gonna get a mom smack! Dear GOD adorables! learn to delegate, D E L A G A T E! you're not destitute, you've got nothing to prove, and you're both far too adorable for this YUCK work. Some things are truly best left to the professionals! Okay Lucy & Grace?
Happily, they had the good sense to be masked!
I was thinking the same thing, but since I have zero medical knowledge about it, the extent was more like, "Yikes... _That_ can't be healthy!"
I'm glad you mentioned it.
Those pine cones have those tiny pine nuts…it’s going to take many to keep a squirrel over the winter…lol..yuk!
That's awesome that you made the moral decision to switch to long-term rentals. So few people do that. The world needs more stories that model ethical behavior. Thank you!
It was generous of Tyler and Todd. But AirBnb is not the problem. Canada has opened the doors to migrants and housing is becoming limited. Not fair to blame AirBnb landlords
I don't live in your area but I'm so appreciative of you two recognizing that people like me need housing. I hope more people follow suit and recognize that having long-term tenants helps build a stronger community. Unfortunately it's corporations that have bought up most of the housing and they don't really give a shit about communities or people.
Amen to that!
Truth.
I agree the a&b market has ruined rentals in my country I was so glad to hear Todd and Tyler acknowledge that helping people with long term housing was one of the reasons they left the short term rental market was good to see
You are so right, it is happening everywhere now. Even in the U.S. Just want to wish you the very best, and that you find an awesome place to land.
I came here to say that exactly. I'm so impressed that they looked at these news reports and decided to make their contribution by changing something so major to be good stewards of society 🎉 kudos!
The fact that you worked so hard closing down those three rentals AND created a video and processed the emotions that came with leaving Edmonton-no wonder you're TIRED! Highest of fives, you two! That was some serious WORK.
Great job guys , you deserved a few days rest forsure❤.
So true about Canadian charm. Our Canadian neighbors who dome down for the winters are always, always so nice and charming.
"we could go shopping..." That's why I love these guys.
That's awesome that you made the moral decision to switch to long-term rentals.
So ironic to have named your beloved cat Squirrel! 👍🏼♥️🇨🇦
Three houses in six days is unbelievable! I can't even imagine how exhausted you are. The garage/biggest squirrels nest ever was mind blowing😳😳😳 I'm so thankful there's no such thing as smell-a-vision, just saying 😂 ❤️🐾🐱🐾❤️
Did you repair area to block future squirrel or other intruders?
@@patriciaburrus8179it's Todd and Tyler. Have they EVER left a job done improperly?
Guys- I am sure you will make some families very happy to be able to rent your homes long term - great decision !
Oh, gosh, I wonder if every time you call Squirrel, you will remember that garage. Poor kittie.
I can't imagine doing all of that work in a week. Great job. I hope everyone had a lovely Easter. Sending loving and peace-filled thoughts to everyone.
We definitely will for a while 😵💫
Hoping it doesn't stick in our memories too long lol!
They don’t believe in Easter 😢
@@davidanderson1074womp womp, a lot of us don’t believe in zombie jesus.
Change can be exhausting, just by itself. But like I told my son when he was little...the only constant in life is change. Life goes on.
So true!
First off, Tyler I hope your head is ok! That was quite the hit! What a mess you guys had to deal with! I can’t imagine the smell and hope I never have to experience it! At least you got the job done and now 3 or more families will have beautiful homes to rent long term! So cute watching your fur babies greet you with so much love! So sweet! Can’t wait for the update on the container home! Take care guys! Get some rest! This Mamas orders! Love and hugs to you both!
I love the pictures of young Tyler and Todd! 💝
I'm sorry but I'm finding it absolutely hilarious that the squirrels took over the garage. But seriously, I hope your head feels better, Todd.
You're closing the door on a chapter of your lives but you have so many more chapters to write. I look forward to watching them unfold.
It was Tyler who hit his head on the garage door.
I hope you get your head checked out, I hit mine a few years back and had a subdural hematoma caused by the by the accidental head bang requiring brain surgery, I hope all is well and wish you both an abundance of health, wealth, love and Happiness for years to come 💕
I smiled when you said We went to a Lego store. I’ve just got back from our towns Museum where I took my 2 grandsons to a display and play of Lego Land. You guys have done a great job. Happy Easter for Australia ❤
Have you watched CuriousityInc? Alex lived in Edmonton and bought and sold antiques and collectibles. He renovated some hoarder homes and in one in particular the attic was so full of pine cones it was unbelievable.
REST and Recoup Guys. Take care.
Wow guys no wonder you’re exhausted. Enjoy your rest ❤
Eager to see how this furniture has a second life at the lake and on The Land.
Packing up 3 houses and cleaning that garage, you’ve definitely earned a few days to decompress.
I’m getting ready to pack up my townhouse and I’ve been trying to envision everything fitting into a Pod the same size. Although my furniture is bigger than yours, you fit 3 houses into 1 pod! That’s amazing!
I love the pets' joy at your reunion. Pure happiness😊.
I'm impressed the squirrels had set up a coffee station in their home.
Oh my goodness the babies were so happy to see y’all! Now it’s time to rest guys, you’ve always got something going on lol , don’t wear yourself out! Blessings to you and your beautiful family!
I absolutely love the fur babies' reaction 😊😊Todd's Eddie's voice don't leave me again 😅😅❤❤
I’m glad you all have that behind you and are home safe! We’re looking forward to the news on the Container home.
You both did a tremendous job of packing up 3 homes and cleaning - oh i can feel your exhaustion . give yourselves a good rest. Take care love you
Wow guys you worked so hard three properties and a garage packed up and cleaned out in 6 days! Did you end up blocking the whole were the squirrels were coming in? Wonderful seeing Charlie as a puppy xx
You boys are amazing. You still have the properties!! Now they will continue to support you but also become home to a family. Don't you feel good about that? Blessings! 😁
The very best part of any trip anywhere is coming home to your critters. ❤
After watching you two do all the stuff in the last vid & this one, I think you two need a week vacation with a hot tube! Then get full body massages. The squirrel thing freaked me out big time! Glad you didn't find any babies or a deceased one! The babies welcoming you home is just the best, I love it! Container home update I can't wait!
Todd was sooooooo happy about that airport lounge! Adorable.
I like how they spoil each other after any round of major hard work: ice skating break, family trips, hot tub/sauna breaks, special take outs, canoe rides, and more. They could write best seller books on Best Rewards for your partners, and share some written stories of rewards. Rewarding your Partner is part of the magic of their marriage (in my humble view).
I'm so happy you two found each other. I've never seen a more perfect match.❤
I for sure needed a nap after watching this episode of Maniac Movers, Ltd! And all I could think of while you two were excavating the garage was , " Don't get Hanta's. Don't get Hanta's!" Three homes packed up and stored IN A WEEK! Superhuman!
Left us with a cliffhanger, I can't wait for next week. Thanks for sharing. Love yah Nancy
I am always amazed by what you two do but that experience in Edmonton, in those temperatures, with three units to empty blows my mind. I hope you don't have any repercussions from that squirrel cleanup.
It was intense what you did..Bravo...Enjoy your Home and the Dogs..
Well done with that mammoth task in Edmonton
I hope you don’t suffer any side affects with the squirrel saga
Keep well rest up 💙💙
Congrats on a job well done. You both deserve some downtime. Just moving one home is crazy let alone three. Nice to see the boyz and mighty Mo (won't even say the rodent name) after that experience, thank the Lord it was in a garage and not the home. Love you two and thanks for sharing....you are an inspiration
If you ever decide to completely flip your plans - I strongly encourage you to consider becoming life coaches. You handle adversity with grace and happiness with joy. I'd proudly become the president of Team T & T. Much love and respect.
I’m the Executive Administrative Assistant or Chief of Staff!! Retired dentist here!!❤️👌🏾
It was nice to see you guys again! I can’t believe you got all that done in six days! You do such nice work turning over those places! Relax and enjoy time together before getting into another project!
Love your energy! Is there anything better than the pet welcome home greeting? Look at their eyes, ahhhhhh! Love and hugs, a fellow Nova Scotian (still in Alberta…..for now)
Oh my Gosh! You were adorable babies with your new baby in that last picture! And the love is beyond words to express greeting the fur babes!
Glad that you were both wearing full protection when clearing out that garage, because when squirrels get in, rodents can also get in, and they can carry the hantavirus, excreted in their waste, and it can be deadly.
I think it’s awesome that you decided to change the ABBs to long term rentals.
You two are so hard working. I love that you take such good care of each other.
Be sure to take the advice of going to the doctor if you feel any sort of the way outside of your normal.
You still have your friends that will always connect you 🩷
Fabulous start for a hugelkultur mound!
❤ No one deserves to rest more than you two. "Leptospirosis?" Damn! Looking forward to your next video. ❤
OMG😳! Industrial squirrels😳. Storage and toilet??? - you awesome twosome are my heroes every week. Thankyou from Wales🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
You both should be so proud of how much you have done in the time you had amazing 😊❤
Great Job! Cannot believe the mess those Squirrels made! So many pine cones! They must have thought they were in pine cone 'bank' heaven! Obviously we don't have that over here in Tasmania. When our possums get into the roof spaces though they can make a huge mess - but they're not 'collectors & hoarders'!
REALLY identifying with you guys on this topic, as this week I drove down to visit a property that we'd renovated - and had planned to retire to 'someday' - and hadn't been back since sold it around 4 years ago. It is located down at a sweet little beachside town called; Opossum Bay, around 55klms S-E of Hobart. {'Tasmaniacs' always ask how did the town get that name? As no Aussie calls our possums; 'opossums', and no-one seems to know the answer!} Initially set up, and yes, same: fully furnished and kitted out for S/T holiday rentals and then changed to L/T rental Got rid of a lot of stuff at that time, but kept the main furniture pieces and things that had been especially selected for that property and decor - in anticipation of a return 'sometime'. So that stuff has been stacked in the garage here and STAYED there, as in the interim have had health issues and back surgery, and found cardiac issues, so everything requiring physical exertion just STOPPED. So, only last week was sorting through what needs to get prep'd for selling and a major clear out on local marketplace. You're right, it's quite a different feeling saying goodby to a rental investment property, where you are 'emotionally invested', about all the work done to mske it 'Home'.
Walked on the beach and reminiscing about how had planned to keep walking the dogs on that beach daily and swim in summer etc.etc. Both those elderly dogs now passed... and now a new rambunctious 11 month old puppy is creating havoc here! The cats went into shock as they were used to old quiet dogs that functioned as moble 'cat heaters' to sleep on, but soon learned to slap the frisky youngster into line! (No cat toy is safe though, he commandeers and chews up every one Then brings a 1/2 chewed up 'slobbery mess' back to drop at a cat's feet saying; "Let's Play some More!" and can't work out why they turn away and stalk off in DISGUST! } It was both sweetness and sadness to see him tearing around on the same beach. Even now, visiting, and looking at all the work done there was more emotional than I'd anticipated - even though selling it (and no longer being responsible for it's maintenance and upkeep, tryng to keep 'crappy property managers to their jobs, and cleaning up messes tenants left in between etc.), was a HUGE Relief! No regrets. Very happy in the new home, which also requires a lot of renovation, but getting there, slowly...
it sounds like an exhausting, but necessary trip. Glad you got so much done. Best part of the video was your dogs coming to see you. My heart melted.
My parent's garage had a similar problem with pine cones. Stacked in cabinets and corners and everywhere! We were lucky in that their home was in the country and we made a pile and burned it. It was a disgusting, stinky mess for sure! You did great getting it done.
So happy you made it home safe!
Wow that head bump was HARD!!! I hope you didn't give yourself a concussion!! You gents are so hardworking! And thank you for thinking of the people all in need of a long term rental. You two really are the best kind of people.
This was a pleasant surprise…May you catch up on your rest and just chill…Have a Happy 🐣…😊❤️🇨🇦
There is nothing like being greeted by your furbabies like you're returning from a two year sabbatical even though it's only been a week or two. Take time to recuperate. Take it from an old lady that didn't and pays for it now ❤❤
So, excited to see that you had posted!! What a few days! I marvel at everything you accomplished. Cannot WAIT to hear about the container home!! Will be waiting on pins and needles! Love to you both!!
I had to clean out a huge shed (actually the size of a 2-car garage) where my sister had left her stuff for years, despite repeated prompting that the stuff was being ruined by raccoons. The smell was disgusting, and everything had to be thrown away. It took a long time to get over that. Ugh! Raccoons leave massive amounts of poop!
All that done in just one week ! Super!
Vous ne lâchez jamais!
Bravo superman!
You guys are so amazing. 3 houses in 6 days... unbelievable. The emotional and physical toll was palatable. Cant wait til next sunday ❤
Great job getting all that cleaned up and doing it so quickly. Rest up, catch up with you next time.
Talk about leaving us all hangin ... can't wait ...
And congratulations on getting all the packing & cleaning nailed ... mammoth guys mammoth ❤🎉
I had no idea all the sticks in the fire. I think you will feel so good to have things easier to manage
Omg that squirrel mess was horrific. You did an amazing job getting it all cleaned up. Now I feel perfectly justified in chasing them out of my garden! Hope you’re both getting a lovely few days of rest - you certainly earned it. What a lovely thing you did Tyler to treat Todd to a lounge at the airport! ❤❤
Tyler, glad you didn't give yourself a concussion - Todd, I love your glasses - both of you, you work so well together - kisses to your boys!
Great work lads..Boy those Squirrels must have been going in there for several years to deposit that many pine cones .I could not believe how many there was.I love to see how happy your fur babies were when you got home.It sometimes is nice to go out just to get a welcome like that ,it always makes your heart sing and you feel so loved by them..Any way ,that’s a chapter in your book that has changed,so now you move on to even greater adventures..Love n Hugs 🥰
Wow, three houses packed up in six days plus filming the whole thing at the same time I don’t know how you guys do it. That had to be a complete shock when you opened up the garage door and saw all the damage from the squirrels. I’ve never seen anything like that before. U2 deserve a nice rest after all that. Thanks again for taking us along and I always look forward to your videos! Those two boys were sure happy to see you two❤️✌🏻
Closing a chapter is always emotional. The Canadian charming is something that I have and knew during 8 beautiful years that I live there. Love the Canada of my ❤
Happy Easter Tyler & Todd & fur babies 🐾🌷 So great to see you have finally finished clearing out your Edmonton homes. What an undertaking that was, but nothing new for the two of you 😀 I know it was sad to say goodbye to that chapter of your lives, but with every good book, there is always another exciting chapter to follow. Same goes for your lives, there will be so many more exciting chapters for you to write. Get well rested before the next chapter is upon you. Take care xx 💕
Aaaaahhh see how ya are? Work us to death then give us a major cliff hanger! No matter cuz us stonch and strong
viewers out here will be with you through thick and thicker.
Good to see you once more! You both are looking no worse for wear. Specially after conquering that much work.
And add to all that finding the time to edit yet another tremendous video. .....
The amazing reaction of your fuzzy kids as you stepped through the door was absolutely priceless! This alone is
worth the punishment of having to wait for your next video.
Keep well and be safe.Your viewers have an investment in the both of you called Loyalty.
Anticipating and with love, Me southern AZ. (USA)
I really shouldn't have laughed so hard and so long at the sound of Tyler's head connecting with the garage door. Actually, I played it over several times. Looks like the wine at the airport was the cure for any lasting results to your noggin. You guys are such dedicated, hard workers. Nice job! Looking forward to next week and news about the container home. The greeting home was so sweet!
You guys worked SOOOO hard!
And the squirrels! Then Tylet's comment about being traumatized by... squirrels! LoL
Poor Squirrel!
Thank you, Parents, for being the best caretakers of the furry family!
Rest. Relax. Recharge.
That. Was. A. Lot!
You guys do crazy amounts of work.
What an incredible amount of work you accomplished as a team ! You guys are awesome. You deserve to relax for sure. 😊
I just love you two like sons.
Happy Easter.

They don’t believe in Easter
Wow well done. What an achievement. So much hard work. So proud of you guys. So heartwarming seeing the fur babies so excited to see you home❤️
So happy you both wore hazard suits, glasses and masks to clear the squirrels disaster. Be careful if you get feeling ill in the next few weeks - make sure to get checked. ❤❤
It was a great surprise to see that you posted today!! Thank you for sharing your experience with us, it’s appreciated very much!
No one can say you don't work! Wow..such an accomplishment...accomplishments... congratulations to completing..
You are both amazing!! I can't believe how much work you did while you were away. Tyler,my head hurt when you walked into the garage door and still never complained and kept working so hard. You should both be so proud of everthing you achieved, looking forward to the container news. See you next week and hopefully you will have recovered from all your hard work.❤
LOL 9:55 squirrels jumping in the trees behind garage
Make sure you protect the chimneys by keeping the top covered.
What a mess, who knew how destructive squirrels can be. Happy Easter to you and the fur babies.
You are such an inspiration to the phrase "Stay calm and carry on". I second the idea of life coaching. You model such integrity under duress. Proud for you both!
Happy Easter! You two may be the hardest working couple😅 on UA-cam. I was exhausted watching you! The pictures you shared of your early days together were so sweet. You both have such baby faces! I hope you took enough time to relax and regenerate. I look forward to your next video and am anxious to see the container home progress.💕
You guys are awesome. I'm not butch enough to do what you guys did. Together you can do anything. Love you guys.
You're amazing!
You all, and Eddie, Charlie, and Squirrel , need some cuddle days!
Did you plug the squirrel hole?
i love how at 09:50 you can see the perpetrator just casually looking what they're doing and hopping some trees
The audacity
Wow you two work so so hard all the time i dont know where you find the energy 🥰 youre both amazing and gorgeous obviously 😁😁 big hugs and love xxx 😘😘🙏
Had an attic full of squirrel gifts, yes, I know the smell, and the scratchy little sounds throughout the day and night.
OMG
Did my decades worth of squirrel waste removal over 30 years ago, with the same facial protection, but it was summer, in an attic, I was in my short-shorts only. I’m still standing, and breathing fine.
I just uploaded a video where I made joking reference to red squirrels' midden piles. And here you are with the horrifying reality! Squirrels are amazing, but they can also be messy...
You guys work so hard how do you do that and the energy you've put into it... well done respect for the hard work.
Great to see the job is done ! And finally going back Home ! We just gut back from Easter weekend from Belgium and we do have two dogs, Barney the Labrador and Elly the Golden Retriever, and when we coming home it is the best welcome Home ever !!! When those two are swinging around and making the funniest sound then you are really Home ! Take a nice time of and enjoy the feeling that the hard work is done !!
You guys are hard workers. I need you to come to Grand Rapids, Michigan and help me out with cleaning. You guys are so cute, your love for each other is beautiful! Take care and Happy Easter! 🐣🐰
The boys are so happy to have their Dads home♥️♥️ and Squirrel too♥️
