Thank you for inviting us into your home to listen with you.
Big thanks to Bill Frisell, Thomas Morgan and Rudy Royston -- I feel SO GOOD after listening to your music. Always!
Gorgeous
Any new Bill Frisell album is cause for celebration. I'll be spinning this on my own Audio Technica turntable very soon. Bill on Vinyl...nothing better than that.
Wonderful album from start to finish. This has been on constant rotation for the last 3 months for me. I love this new trio of Bill's!
I love Rudy Royston. “In the pocket” without being a repetitive metronome… a fountain of creativity. 3 fountains of creativity…
My first listen to him. Interesting cat 👍
Beautiful album, for my Bill frisell number one, I have all your records. I've been collecting them for 31 years. Love it.
Although I'm a generation younger, my friends and I used to do the same thing. If it was a truly great album, and there were many, after it was over it was as if we couldn't move or talk. Either we were so overwhelmed that we couldn't process what we'd just experienced, or it was that we wanted to stay in that sacred space where the music carried us.
Can I stay a little while longer?
Thank you Bill Frisell.
I can't really think of another player like Bill Frisell. Someone who doesn't play guitar might listen and appreciate how simple he keeps things- but really he's a gentle giant. The phrasing and the way he moves his triads, his dynamics, the risks he takes (that always seem to pay off)... amazing musician! And the trio as a whole is terrific. Reminds me of the album with Dave Holland and Elvin Jones.
I think that Bill Frisell can be related to Monk. He has his own voice so. He's a wonderful musician.
@@romainbertrand253 I think that's fair. Actually, I'm glad you brought it up; I've been listening to his (Frisell's) covers of Epistrophy lately, and you can tell how much he enjoys it, and also how much it challenges him. It's a song that (as with Monk) really suits his style.
Also, have you heard Bill in another trio, the Ginger Baker Trio's "Going Back Home" release w/Ginger and the legendary Charlie Haden? It is sublime and if you love Bill's playing, do not miss this.
Thank you so much, Bill, for your compositions. You are a wonderful source of inspiration, as a musician as well as a human being!
Amazing how he still finds something new to say about What the World Needs Now.
Hi, Bill! That's great news!
pure beauty for ever
Winter Always Turns To Spring - it´s the best song from this wonderfull album. Thanks for this vinyl live stream!!!
Bill's approach to phrasing is absolutely a beautiful thing. These are professional musicians who make music for the sake of making music. There's a lot of love in that!
what is phrasing?
@@whotookjimirocket musical phrasing is very similar to phrasing in speech. It's how a musician uses tone, tempo, dynamics, and various playing techniques to express the language of the music. (It's what can make a cover of a song sound relaxed or aggressive compared to the original, despite the basic musical ingredients being the same.) Bill's phrasing is very laidback, smooth, and full of character - like wherever he chooses to bring out or subdue certain notes, or where the rhythm falls just a little behind the beat.
@@JediMobius ahhh thanks! i know i can look online but i enjoy your definition
Wonderful album. Thanks Bill for your decades of guitar genius!
Yeah, Bill! Thanks for spinning your latest. Wonderful to hear.
From the first few bars of the opening track, I loved it. So eclectic, makes me believe great music is still being made
What a gift. And all the outpouring love is so appropriate. Love Bill, love this virtual listening party. Love people who love music
Listening to this record a few times now, just get better and better!
Pressing is top nutch, silent and very well recorded. Don’t hesitate, this is a record that is a lasting statement to a trio that is in tune and out of tune but in a very positive way! Love this record, thank you Bill, Rudy and Thomas!
Master visions
I needed that song Bill. What The World Needs Now Is Love. Thanks.
Music for the soul! Thank you Bill Frisell.
Bill Frisell!!! The most innovative guitar player after Wes Montgomery!!!! (It's my opinion)...
I like how Bill's palette has more sound colors than any other jazz players I've heard. He's willing to apply more treble and not just always stick with the neck pickup.
lets not get carried away
wes was the man-but vini reilly is the overall best innovative player, and john mcglaughlinis the best ever!!!
Well you are welcome to your opinion... and I'm welcome to share it...!
@@markwooton7722 I completely agree that having more diversity in sound color is a good thing for jazz guitar! He is one of the few Jazz players who uses the classic solid body guitars with single coil pickups like Telecasters and Stratocasters. It makes perfect sense to use the hollow body guitars with the humbucker neck pickup and tone knob dialed down to 7 or 5 or even all the way down as that has become "the jazz guitar sound". I certainly like that sound, but I also like more diversity. Why keep your sound the same all the time?
I love vinyl lives streams, thanx for it... wonderfull music!!!!
Music sublime. Each note and beat a deliberate choice.
Should read 34,000+ "listens" instead of views. Though it's easy to assume many may have been hypnotized watching this wonderful project go round and round and.....
Thanks for the August Valentine Bill - Sending love back your way. You are beautiful.
and of course Frisell attracts two other amazing Musicians like Thomas Morgan and Rudy Royston, what a perfect match, Thanks…
Not only does the record sound great, but this video sounds great for a UA-cam clip. Great job Bill!
I am having the same though right now. This video sounds really great
Having an unrestrained dynamic range is def helping
Thank you for playing your new record, it is on my shortlist, after listening to the first tune it will now be the next record to buy!
Thanks Bill
Have always loved Bill but Rudy's drumming is so sweet.
Bill's music is as special and unique as it is unexpected. When you think that nothing will surprise you about him, he presents an album with a concept that you did not expect and then other and another and the beauty of one is different from the beauty of the previous one. I am fortunate to have known his music and enjoy it all the time. It's a real gift. Thank you Bill
Thanks! I enjoyed listening to an LP again, and your music was most welcome!
Thank you for your collaborative musicians too
La musique et l'homme. Sincérité et générosité...merci Mr Frisell.
Just imagine sharing just 1h with Bill to listen to some vinyl. I would behave like a dry sponge falling in water...
Excellent álbum Mister Frisell!!!... Congrats!!!...
Second that.
Just listen to that guitar version of Sonny Rollings' Wagon Wheel...
Just to listen to Bill Frisell, it sounds like a well planned assault on your aural senses (and I'm sure it is), but when you watch him, he always seems as surprised as the listener about what just transpired. It's like he's thinking, I don't know where this is going, but there's no point in being late! Love it!
Anything Bill does is great IMOP... Thanks for the autograph years ago Bill!
What a great idea to do this. I'll be ordering this on vinyl myself.
Arriving tomorrow!
Perfect time for this album to come out. Much needed. Excellent work. Thank you for your gift to the world.
Badass Bill Frisel!!!
I moved my turntable to my cabin in the Berkshires. I taught a friend's son how to handle records this past weekend. It was all new to him.
So beautiful and so appreciated here in this late November mid evening 2020 thank you.
Amazing Bill!!! you're my Favorite!!!
Bill Frisell is killing
very chill
Brilliant, thank you mister Frisell.
another lovely album and cool idea!!! Thank Bill and team
che bello
Can't wait to give it a spin myself (the LP is in the Mail!). Looove Bill, love Thomas, love Rudy... can't go wrong! What the World needs now? Love of course! But also, more music such as this! Dream on People! The world ain't over yet and we still can make it a little better! Peace Please! (Finally got the LP today! A good 'ol vinyl that plays quite well! Stunning, Gorgeous record! Thanks a bunch Mr. Frisell! Also got the album called Americana he did with Grégoire Maret and Romain Collin on the label ACT, well worth checking out too!)
Great playing, Bill
I have the Qobuz Hi Res version and was blown away by the music and the sound quality. It’s on my list to get vinyl. Thanks for the tunes. Great mix of music expressions.. And, sharing albums with my friends / music junkies is still a blast.
oh to be a kid again
Lol i'm 30
to be fair it's that engagement to me, when truly captivated and immersed - then to repeat the immersion time after time until you become familiar with your craft. and now you can sing through your instrument :)
Great album
We love your stuff Bill,
What a great listen. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you.
Loving what I hear from this album. Cue the want list!!!!
Absolutely stellar record! It is a journey with many dark and light atmospheres inside instrumental stories...One of the rarely spoken thing about
Bill is humour! The composition Valentine is one of the funniest thing I have ever heard in my life. Even funnier than « Mumbo jumbo » almost. Some of those lines Crack me up to tears . But Bill ´ s sonic slapstick is just one of his many facets, but one I really cherish. Thank you sir
This lp is a masterpiece!
Bill, you're in right!
So glad that I ordered it! Thank you Bill!
Peace and love-
Thanks for the wonderful music Bill.
Soothing and sonically nourishing , & that was just the intro Bill. Great stuff sir x
I got my copy a few weeks ago. Four sides is not enough for so much beauty. This album should have had ten sides. Thank you Mr. Frisell and Blue Note for the music and the video.
Thank you from Bellevue. Hope to see you in town soon!
go ahead on sir! great!
Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful piece, and congrats on the idea. Greetings from Brazil!
Thank you Mr Frisell, i felt like i was with you in your leaving room, listening this great new album !
Brilliant. Thank you Bill.
Sounds great! Thank you for this! ...like the whiskers too, nice.
Thank you.Great sound.
Already ordered. Thank you for the complete preview.
I first picked up a copy of The Ginger Baker Trio over 20 years ago, I wasn't a fan of instrumental jazz and I'm still not. But damn, I love Bill's playing.
This is great, thank you for sharing. You should post more videos like this one! I am a huge fan, I have seen you a ton at the Boulder Theater. I miss indoor live music ):
Phenomenal
GRACIAS
Ah! Bill! I’m short on time and flipped through this vid but got HOOKED on side B, trk 1. The drumming is exceptional, original, exciting, tasteful, boundary pushing. I’ll check right now who that was.
Beautiful. Loved your intro too.
I love it!
Love my early '70s vintage SLD2. Your record's going to sound great on it! Big fan of the jazzer with the biggest heart.
What a lovely way of presenting your album!!
..need your music now..
Discovered you jusr last week thanks to Qobuz, you make great music ! ❤️
This UA-cam session with Bill is great--and it sounds like a record is playing! But I just received my record in the mail today and got to spin sides A & B, and it sounds so much better: it's deep and warm, like the best kind of hi-fi audio! Wow! Tomorrow morning brings coffee and "Electricity" to start the day!
This sound making me to get into vinyl
Awesome album. Need to buy that vinyl
We still have these available on LP in our Shop! store.bluenote.com/collections/vinyl/products/bill-frisell-valentine?variant=32174598291543
That first tune is by Ali Farka Toure. Great African guitarist and singer. Couple great albums with Ry Cooder.
Tune 1 obvious tribute to the African string masters.
People are doing this again we have a turntable and vinyl
Lovely. Newcomers to Frisell might want to listen in reverse order: Side four first, etc. This album starts with hardcore jazz and becomes progressively more accessible. In reverse order, the album might teach you how to listen to him, so that by the time you get to side one, you're in his groove.
I never envisioned Frisell with an Audio Technica turntable. Seems more like a Linn guy.
Who CARES!?!!
@@loontil Right? I mean, we aren't allowed to make a joke, right? We need to be serious, 24/7! Apologies to you.
Christopher Orman Ignore the begrudges who don’t have a sense of humour.
Like the late Charlie Haden.. Linn Sondek and Naim electronics.
Mr. Neuman That’s what I have for two decades now.
Thanks for the turntable experience without having to buy a turntable. 😆 Very nice record I might add. What’s next on our list? 😛
Buy one even second hand get into vinyl good for the soul your birthday pressy and christmas sorted forever...we bought one after having had one as teen in 80s and 90s and the vinyl world is back...bliss
I added this to my Apple Music Library. This is another amazing Apple Digital Master from Blue Note Records. I have an Apple TV 4K connected via HDMI to my Yamaha AVR and a 35 year old set of Bose 301 II's for my mains. Keep up the the great work Blue Note!
Much more my speed and I don't have to sign up for Spotify premium
😎
I would like to purchase 2 and get them signed :))
The Master....
