    It seems like he is discovering phrases and chords in the exact moment he plays them. He gets so enthusiastic that he expresses his joy going on playing more and more. Those who listen feel that smile of surprise at each note. That's pure magic.

      That's not true. I once saw Bill Frisell in a Guitar Center - he kept playing Crazy Train on an out-of-tune, used BC Rich Warlock. Wait nvm that was somebody else...

    I live in a sleepy town in Canada. By some miracle Bill played a show here about 10 years ago and completely blew our minds.. easily my most memorable musical experience

      I've been obessing over his J.W. Black built Teles for months, speculating over things like fret wire, pickups, etc. None of it matters; it's all in the hands. Can't buy those. Intonation that's second to none right now.

    He voices any thing you see , improvising is key , timeing depending on mood for the day i am sure he can make the same note sound different. Just natural

    There's one or two places I'm sure I heard him play a wrong note...but with Bill you just can't ever be sure. I've been a low key fan since Tales From the Far Side many years ago...what a perfect guy to do the soundtrack for that.

    I think Bill Frisell has the most immediately recognizable sound of any working guitarist today. I could Pepsi Challenge that any day of the week -- there are so many small things that he does with phrasing and voicing and tone that are so idiosyncratic.
