Are you adding 2 - soft to every paint you use? Also, do you heat set every layer of paint as well? Thank you so much... Your video was excellent and I LOVE the sneakers!!
For this detailed custom, 2-Soft is only added for the base coat. It provides a nice foundation for the paints to adhere to. Adding 2-Soft to the paints may thin them out a bit so it may not be the most ideal thickness for applying detail work... however, it's strictly preference. That's the same as far as heat setting. Some customizers like to heat set after every coat but other, such as Rick, heat set after the last coat. Basically it's preference and may vary with projects.
Angelus Shoe Polish Thank you so much! I can’t wait to try this out. Your videos are super helpful and your artists are extremely talented. Thank you for your reply.
@@Sgt_Laylo Once the Too soft/white base coat is down, the detail work is hard to mix with too soft. It would be better but the too soft might dilute the color and make the paint too thin or liquidy making it run. Large areas like the black (and shoulda been that purple) you want to mix with the Too thin so the canvas stays soft and bendable/pliable so the paint doesn't crack. Hope that helps. The more paint you mix with the too soft, the more bendable the shoe will be without it cracking. But the paint is harder to get it to do what you want it to do i.e. paint color dulls, or runs easier etc.
Amazing artwork. I have everything I need from angelus to paint a pair of new white smooth leather Birkenstock bostons…I just have to get up the balls to start sketching the designs. I have done many denim jeans and jackets with jacquard fabric paints, this will be my first on leather..thanks for the inspiration.
I used to be called a nerd when I was a kid for loving dc comics but now everyone is loving it so it’s cooler. So it’s not nerdy anymore. Jeez...wish superheroes were cool when I was younger...
I believe that this show has multiple artists, but if this is in any way to say something... First of all, this pretty sweet! Not just "Oh you just use some fabric or acrylic paint"... You actually give us useful advice and realize... "Hey. Water exists". So thanks for the tips! I also believe you mentioned enjoying to work in new mediums, both in what you paint with, but also what you paint on. Is there any way that other artists wanting to work like that could maybe send you that art? Partially just to build together with experiences and advice. (Partially asking because I'm going to be making a costume with some faux fur, and he has a marking that I would most definitely need to paint in instead of sew, and it would be cool to share it with another artist!
Junkie Killer ??? The fortnite guy is from marvel comics he's a villain named Thanos. The latest marvel avengers movie is basically about him and his he got the stones for his gauntlet (glove) check out early marvel comics. But fortnite used him yes. 👌🏾
Guys it’s called a joke because some dude on social media went to the theaters and they saw a pic of Thanos and the captions said “Wow they made a movie about the Fortnite Guy” 😂😂
when you are done painting your shoes do you ever put any kind of like pretective sealer? like if the shoes got dirty and someone washed them would the paint job get messed up easily?
Question, so I used normal acrylic paint on my vans, but if I use the Angelus acrylic finisher will it ruin my shoes?? Or would it be better to use the water/stain resistant spray??
Using acrylic finisher is optional. When applying it to canvas it will become very stiff and give the shoe a glossy look.We like it best on leather. The Water and Stain will keep the shoe from getting wet and dirty but is not sealant for the paint. If you're looking to protect the paint and keep it from cracking then our only suggestion is to use Angelus paints mixed with 2-Soft. This works great on canvas and from there the paints will not chip, crack or fade. Hope this helps.
so after you mix your base coat with 2 soft you dont need to mix the other colors with 2 soft? and is heat setting necessary or can you just let it dry?
Once you have a set base layer of 2-soft/paint mix, then you can paint on top of it with regular paint. Sometimes it's difficult to get detailed lines with 2-soft since it can bleed a little.
I have an issue with the paint lifting when I put on the top coat, specifically with blues, reds and browns. Especially with leather. I am prepping everything properly. Any reason why its doing this? Its driving me crazy having to fix my work constantly
As long as the shoe is prepped properly and the paint is applied with light coats then the paint will flex and crease with the shoe. Check out this page and if you have any more questions then let us know. Thanks! angelusdirect.com/apps/help-center
We still recommend using 2-Soft with each layer. For media purposes, we don't include each and every step in the video. We include bits of the process to give our viewers a general sense of how to use our products.
inifinty war was a wierd movie, it was like fighting every 3 seconds. marvel; we need a new plot, dave any ideas? dave; yah lets have thanos destroy everything and let him snap his fingers. marvel; i like it, we will earn extra money and we will have to make a part 2. perfect! marvel; dave you have now been promoted to the janito dave; yeah
Well, remember all our paints has a little bit of finisher in it already. So the finisher is optional and adding some water & stain repellent will just give it an extra seal. However, the water & stain repellent wears off after some time so you will want to reapply some if you like. Ultimately, it is totally optional.
Yes, our paint pens are used for stuff just like that. Feel free to experiment and have fun. If you have any more questions feel free to contact us at Info@angelusshoepolish.com
We generally recommend using a heat gun because a hairdryer doesn't get hot enough to properly heat set the paint. You can usually find an affordable heat gun at most hardware stores.
I have an issue with whenever i apply thr top coat, it lifts up the paint-- specifically blues, browns and reds. And then i have to go over it and fix it. I lve tried various drying times...nothing seems to help. Any idea why it does this?

i want to re black my vans because they are "grey" but should i put 2-foft with flat black (1 or 2 coats) and after heat set just painting it with flat black without 2-soft?
The canvas does not have to be washed, but should be clean. As far as the smooth leather, you will use the Leather Preparer. That will take off the factory finish.
can i use the angelus paint on slip ons without the too soft if im not doing much with the paint? i’m just going to be adding some colorful lines on the boarder of the canvas. will the angelus paint stay if i don’t use the too soft prep?
We always suggest using 2-soft if you are layering a base coat. However, if you plan to do designs or portraits like this then you can mess around with the mix. Maybe 75% paint 25% 2-soft. We always suggest testing and experiment with it before applying on the project.
After you heat gun dry a portion of the shoe you painted and then you painted again over it do you have to heat gun dry it for 3-5 minutes? Every time you add a cover or a coat of paint do you have to heat gun dry it for 3-5 minutes? Like every time?
Some people choose to do it different ways. We suggest drying the paint after every coat and then after the final coat to heat set it. In-between coats should take less than a minute while heat setting at the end should be about 3-5 minutes. Hope this helps.
How do you know when to mix a paint with 2 soft i know for a canvas shoe like vans, i seen you do it at the beginning so you can have a base then after that you did not mix with the color but did with black ?
It really comes down to the artist preference. The base coat should always be mixed with 2-soft to keep the fabric soft and flexible. Some artists continue to mix with 2-soft while others will just use straight paint.
Hey If I don’t use/have water or stain repellent on my fresh painted vans while the paint still stay? Also if water touches the painted shoe will the paint sink through the canvas?
Yeah Angelus Paint is durable, flexible and waterproof. When painting on fabric make sure to use 2-Soft to help the paint adhere and keep the shoe nice and soft.
2-Thin will definitely thin the paint and help it absorb into the fabric however it may not last. 2-Soft is used to help the paints adhere better and keep them from fading after time. It may be something you would like to test and experiment with but ultimately we suggest using 2-Soft when working with any canvas and fabrics surfaces.

Hey If I don’t use/have water or stain repellent on my fresh painted vans while the paint still stay? Also if water touches the painted shoe will the paint sink through the canvas?
Yes of course. Water & Stain repellent will give you an additional coat of protection. Ultimately, it is optional. However, it is suggested.
Awesome! I used to paint canvas shoes but mostly people will ask me, is the shoe washable? Kindly share some tips 🙏🏻
Yeah Angelus Paint is durable, flexible and waterproof. When painting on fabric make sure to use 2-Soft to help the paint adhere and keep the shoe nice and soft.
If you have 2 thin but not 2 soft can you still use it to make it easier on canvas
2-Thin will definitely thin the paint and help it absorb into the fabric however it may not last. 2-Soft is used to help the paints adhere better and keep them from fading after time.
