I just got the Iridium desktop version and absolutely love it. Thanks for the video! It's an amazing synthesizer and you're doing a great job of showing it off. xie xie ni, peng you.
I own the iridium desktop, I have it for sale so I can get the keyboard version. I am going to make a sound demo video and spend Way less time playing the keyboard on each preset. Most of these videos show way too many Riffs and not enough of the presets. I’m quite certain nobody watches these and says, “I am considering buying this synth but WOW! I want to buy this guys technique and musicality”
I have one ordered and payed the deposit but after watching some videos on it now I'm more considering cancelling it. Especially when you hear presets like this that just sound no different than an old Korg Triton. I'm trying to hear where the price tag of £2.400 is justified...but can't in any way. Hugely underwhelming sound set for 2022.
@@maydaygoingdown5602 LOL, I've still got my old triton and the Z1, do you remember that synth. I understand where you are coming from with the iridium, but I would have a comprehensive shot of it first to see what it can do, but I do think it has great potential with all it's different ways of making or mangling up sound/samples. But if you are not sure you should wait and try one out before parting with your cash. But I was serious when I stated it sounded like Tangerine Dream, I was listening to their Legend soundtrack and it has that PPG sound which I understand is not everyone's cup of tea, the only other synths I would go for around that price would be the OB-6 or the summit, I've tried the OB-6, it sounds really good but it's sound palette is limited compared to the vast possibilities of the waldorf, but if your ears are not convinced........
@@jamesmacleod671 yeah ofcoarse, the Z1 is a great synth. I really don't know about this iriduim now. The more vids of it watch the more I'm put off...to me it's just sounding Meh!!...heard it all before, nothing new. It reminds me of a VST I have called Falcon 2.6...I mean in regards of its features etc..but it's much less powerfull than Falcon 2.6 especially at all aspects of sampling. Like I said the more I hear and see of it on UA-cam the more I'm thinking how and where is this worth the price tag!! I paid the £240 quid deposit to my retailer Andertons and it's expected in around the end of May, so I guess I'll try it out as you get 2 weeks to decide if you want to keep it or send it back and get a refund. I was already undecided between this or an Arturia Polybrute, I love the hands on control and features of the polybrute, 2 very different synths ofcoarse but still I'm impressed with the polybrute but sadly I don't feel that when I hear this irridium....I don't get that 'Hhmmm that's interesting' feeling, know what I mean? Maybe it's because of Falcon I dunno, but I'm starting to think the Irridium is just like 60% of what Falcon does already. Still cant help thinking it sounds like any old Korg though too:). I mean, are you getting that Wow factor after hearing this?? Or is it just me lol. I think for 2 and a half thousand beer tokens you should be blown away with what you hear, sadly it's not doing it for me.
@@maydaygoingdown5602 If you are not getting that inspiration from the waldorf I would say to Andertons that you have second thoughts and ask if you could swap that deposit from the iridium to the polybrute, I'm sure they can accommodate you. Nothing worse than paying a lot of money for something you are not going like or use from the offset, go for the polybrute. All the best.
The Iridium is definitely capable of fat, warm sounds, too. I think this video showcases some great sounds that an Iridium can do that an analog synth can't do. Something particular to digital synths, a "synthetic" sound. I have a ton of analog synths and, while I love them, they definitely have the limitation of only being able to sound analog. I love their sound, absolutely, but when you own enough analog synths, you might start to wish to break out of that standard analog sound and just can't. All of that said, the Iridium has VA (virtual analog) synthesis and does a stand-up job at emulating them. I think 3:35 in this video gives a hint of that here, but the Iridium can certainly do more than just that. Think of those sounds, but with some reverb added to it for more presense. Anyway, that's that!
If this synth had half the price of what it has now, it would sell millions of units. Somehow Waldorf couldn't care less and that is why they always flirt with bankruptcy. Such a pity..

The formant synthesis, starting at about 6:00 sounds fantastic!
Great Sounds and Great Playing

Tangerine dream in a box. Seriously considering buying one.

That's really cool!😻🤖
Pitty,no 61 key version.😩
Compromises.
@@kensmechanicalaffair Maybe too close to the Quantum.
Quantum 2
It sounds little bright and synthetic. Is there any fat sounds then please give examples. I have used Blofeld I still love that keyboard. Thanks! ❤️
Thanks, I would find some fat sound and make a demo. by the way, I have blofeld too, it is a great synth!

They need to start off with a lower price this costs more than the quantum and is a cheaper build
