The D7200 doesn't have an optical low-pass filter. It makes sharper results than cameras that have one. I noticed at 10:00 you zooming in at the picture. You can set the OK button to zoom to 100% in one click. Just go to the playback menu settings and set the OK button function. I used this camera for ~4 years. It was definitely one for the history books.

I have a D5600 and love it I was convinced I needed something newer with better specs so I spent the summer trying to figure out which camera/system I wanted to upgrade too until I found your channel! The fact thought you were shooting with yours and thrilled with it and didn’t feel the need to upgrade inspired me to just keep learning how to get the most out of my D5600 and improve my photography skills instead of getting new gear. I’m glad you went back and thanks!! Melanie

Good to see you out with the D7200 again, a camera that I was planning for a few years to move up to from the D3100 which I had for 10 years, but always found uncomfortably small to hold. Finally got the cash together last year, and no D7200 to be found, so I pushed the boat out and got the D7500, really pleased I did.

These 24 MP crop Nikons (7100 and 7200) are just the perfect cameras for that extra reach and macro shots, perfect for product shots as well for those details. INSANELY sharp and will give you lots of cropping headroom as well but I wouldn't go beyond ISO 1600 with these, I have 4 full frame bodies and I will never get rid of my D7100, it is essentially a 55 Megapixel camera density-wise.
You pair it with a SIGMA ART 18-35 f1.8 and the 50-100 f1.8 youll probably never have to buy a lens again, it's like having multiple prine lenses in your bag

All you hear is D7200 this, D7200 that, etc. yeah the buffer is crap on the D7100, but with the right lens, and good technique, it can still hold its own. Funny thing is, I’d almost always pick up my ole’ D300, instead of my D7100. No it can’t compare to the newer camera, but it ain’t that far off! Happy Shooting!

At long last, a photographer that uses what he has and sees the merits of what is fast becoming old gear. Too many photographers, especially on UA-cam are too keen to move on to the newer mirrorless cameras and lenses and the manufacturers who could make their lens mounts compatible but don't. I use a Canon 5D Mk4 and I only have that because my Mk 3 went into a river and I thought about a new camera in the R5 but, I have a great camera, why spend more money upgrading just for the sake of it. This is motivating and a boost morale. I got the D7200 for my intermediate photography level. As time goes by more and more New generation of cameras are to our disposal. Some say the future is here. That is funny in way since it was said the same thing of some the crop and full frame cameras. Nikon is dropping 1/3 of their DSLR and felt I was left behind with all these new cameras. Felt outdated. But you just confirmed, no matter what, a camera is an instrument. Is how we us it. Yes newer ones have lots of bells and whistles. But classic still can run for your money. D7200 Is a good camera and love it.

I know this is an old video now. But I do like going back over your stuff. I like this video, going back to a trusted old friend like your D7200. I have recently gone mirrorless, got myself a Sony A7R2. The lenses are incredibly expensive. I have bought glass before and been really not that impressed with them. Whereas as I have my old Nikon D800, my old F mount lenses, and although I have two great lenses for my Sony, my Nikon ones are still bagged. I pulled out my D800 and mounted my Samyang F/2.8 14mm glass on it. Totally manual, it's so clear and sharp. The problem I have now is wanting to take it out in my bag when I have bought a nice "new" MPB special Sony, the Sony may end up being put away. Old equipment that you know inside out can often be a really comforting thing to go back to.

I think this is a great comment. I only lightly edit my photos too. If you want to make an impact on facebook then by all means replace the sky with software or something someone else did. But you have to start asking yourself when does your photo start to become a product of a software package and not the product of your own photography skill and artistic eye. In the end I think natural photos look best.

In the same boat Henry. I've shot with Nikon since 1977. Have a lens arsenal that cannot be outmatched. Periodically I rent new equipment to taste the waters and always come back to: Why?
After I installed the D7200 into the inventory a few years ago and the plethora of lenses dating back to the first Nikon FE acquired in high school, there is no reason for me to upgrade my still photography. Now, shooting video is a different. This is something that's in the works and quite frankly not satisfying with the Nikon systems. So a new journey begins in the realm of equipment acquisition.

Great video! I upgraded my D7000 to a Z6 last June. Love it. Bought the FTZ adapter to keep my old lenses but I did pick up the z 50mm and it is fantastic. If you're falling out of love with the D7200 what about a used D500/D750/D810/D850? The D810/D850 has no AA filter for some very sharp shots.
Also like to apologize as I left a comment on your last video as a joke that lead to a few less than perfect responses. Wasn't my intention.

I found the same when I changed from Pentax to Olympus. The Oly kit lens was very poor, when I tried the premium & pro lenses I could not have been happier. It's all in the glass. I don't think there are too many bad cameras these days with so much competition.

I have the D7200 paired with a 18-55 f2.8 lens, which is an absolute tank of a lens. A photographer told me many years ago that you can buy camera body after camera body, and it won't improve the clarity. Invest in the best glass you can, and it will pay off time and time again.

I also have that same 16-35 f/4. Do yourself and that lens a favor and and sell the D7200, all that canon gear and your Tokina lens and get a full frame Nikon. Preferably the D750. On the D750, the 16-35 will be as wide as your Tokina, with better resolution AND it has a flip screen. The D7200 is a nice camera but it doesn’t compare to the D750. Your beautiful shots deserve a full frame sensor!! Love your channel by the way ..

Great video! This year is my 50th year in photography. If you watch George Harrison a Concert for Bangladesh, THAT was on Aug 1, 1971, my 18th birthday and the day I acquired my first camera. It changed my life. After all the countless cameras I've enjoyed over a half a century, from 110 to 8x10", I've settled on a selection of cameras that have stood the test of time. While I shoot film extensively, I also enjoy a couple of Nikon D300 DSLRs. I plan to complete my gear with a D700...and be done. Settling on gear that YOU love is far more important than trying to get the latest/greatest. To be honest, If I had to get rid of EVERYTHING save one camera, it would be an old Canon VT deluxe with a 35f1.8 ltm. A few bricks of film and I'm good. Just shoot.

I cant see any reason for myself as an amateur, to change to a mirrorless. I love the sensor cleaning feature on the 7D, its my favourite thing. I love the fact for you its about the emotion of the shot not the gear. Isn't that what its all about.....

I'm so glad I watched this video. I was contemplating purchasing a newer fujifilm X100f because carrying my Nikon D-7100 is such a large camera. I liked the way the X100f can be tucked into a pocket. Then I saw your video. Why am I trying to downsize in weight whilst also downsizing in quality? Not that fujifilm is worse than Nikon, but I wouldn't have the variety of lenses I now own with the Nikon. Plus there's the learning curve of a new system.
I like the images I get from Nikon. I know its limitations (DX, being one of them), but I compensate and move forward.
Your video brought me back to reality. Thank you so much.

I'm a bit of a fan of using Nikon F-EOS-M adapters on my Canon M6, as you can get something for about 20 quid with an aperture control on the adapter and then manually focus everything, and use all the lovely Nikon optics on the mirrorless sensor. Still won't be any smaller than the D7200, but you do get different picture qualities with the Nikon vs. Canon sensors. Might be nice for the times when you want the punch and color of the Canon, rather than the dynamic range and tonality of the Nikon.
