Ted McKenna had such a groove. Nice guy as well - v friendly to me as a pimply 16 year old MSG fan. RIP Ted x
Made a good job with Rory Gallagher!
Michael Schenker is the world’s most underrated guitarist.
Com certeza master from flying V
Schenker's melodic shredding is a lost art.
Incredible guitarist.
Very true...how many young dudes today will play like this!
@@dannymcmince None, unless Jorn Lande in Norway hires a proper guitarist.
@@V3ntilator true
the lost art is to shred melodically like MS. Aggressively incredibly smooth....
I grown up listening MSG thanks to my dad and if you hear me play I am really melodic, it is a lost art for sure :(
I was at this show. My dad was stationed in Germany at the time. Was a great show. The lineup was insane.
I was 'blown away' when i saw this show on television in '84 (NRK - Norway). My favorite guitarist beside of Ritchie Blackmore 🎸
В Советском союзе, в 1984 году слушал этот концерт на касетном магнитофоне - шедевр рока.Браво. Всем спасибо!!!
Brilliant live show . Schenker is forever one of the outstanding guitarists of our time.
The one and only , he's been that great for a long while !♡
🤟
I saw MSG with this lineup in Hammersmith London 1983. Outstanding!
🎸💁♀️🎶Dad sat me in a chair to hold a guitar when I was a toddler to play with my parents’ band. As a young girl, my guitar hero was Blackmore. But since the 1st time I heard Michael Schenker, he’s been at the top of the list.💖 What more could anyone ever do?😊
I can’t stop watching this! Love this concert!
Well, I love anything Schenker does. His style is beyond compare!
Found myself watching this concert again!
Hello 👋 marla
How're you doing,
it's been a long journey, and I'm nothing without amazing fans like you who appreciate my musical craftiness,
All love to you and yours ❤️
@@michaelschenker4412 Thank you! Certainly, my pleasure. Love to you & yours also.
Oh Hell yeah! Searing Schenkerlicious tone. I love Gary Bardens vocals too
Great combination with the two❤❤❤
Been my fav since I saw him in 1982
1. Into the Arena 0:06
2. Curvoisier Concert 4:01
3. Rock will never die (Walk the stage) 7:08
4. Doctor Doctor 12:29
5. Michael solo 16:55
6. We want to thank you Jam 18:17
The last tune is just a little jam they do to end the show hence the “we want to thank you” Lyrics.
🎸💁♀️🎶Thx for the list! Incredible concert like usual!!!
Victim of illusion
@@cozycooke2040 I want to thank you for the info. Cheers
Thank You! 🤘😎
The glory days of MSG!😁😁👍👍🤘🤘🖖🖖
This was the first time I heard Michael Schenker. It was on Swedish tv and radio in early 84 if I remember right. My favorite guitar player ever since.Amazing performance.
You remember right! I believe it was shown around New Years in ´83. I was away at the time and made sure my parents recorded everything on vhs for me to enjoy when I got back home. And, boy, did I enjoy it. Three hours of hard rock/heavy metal. It was like a godsend in those days. I must have watched that tape a hundred times - at least. Then someone borrowed it and it was lost. Thank god so much can be found on youtube these days. :)
It was on tv on lucia night 83.
I saw schenker in 83, the best concert ever
Michael Schenker is one of the greatest guitar players of all time those list's are so ridiculous also Robin Macauly great singer doing a great job ❤
The singer here is Gary Barden. The "real" MSG singer.
The SCHENK.my favorite.till I die who can top what he has done for metel music.
Tremendous soul in this performance.
I've watched Schenker play with UFO in 1978 and MSG in 83, and he's a monster, as you can see. He's one of the best guitar players. The UFO album Strangers in the Night shows his skills.
It is very disappointing to not see my favorite guitarist, Micheal Schenker, on most of the “all time greatest guitarist” list. I cannot understand it, but the truth has prevailed because most of those top guitarist have faded into oblivion while Micheal Schenker still rocks on. After 50 years of rock this guy still tears it up. He is still as sharp as ever. Forever Micheal Schenker!
Those Rolling Stone lists are total crap...10 years ago they had EVH...75th on the list...utter garbage magazine.
@@mickeyjohn2442 That is true. The Anglo Saxons that control the social order, still want to beat down the Germanic people. So, they will fill the racial quotas in the United States of America, and put Jimmy Hendrix in the top 10.
But, he could not come anywhere close to the skills of Michael Schenker.
Who cares whether he’s on a list or not, I’ll never understand why people make a big deal over that shit
Awesome! Thanks for sharing. Thanks Michael for sharing your love for music and guitar with us. The world is better for it.
🎸💁♀️Yes it is!
M Schenker is the best guitar player ever!
Probably not but one of my favorite guitarist for sure.
🎸🙋♀️Who could do more? Like Nigel says in Spinal Tap “None more!” Lol
Definitely the most talented Schenker on guitar right here and his best look, IMO, with the leather jacket, faded jeans and white shoes. I always felt like his songs were written around his solos, and not the other way around, which is cool. Michael could have certainly stepped in for Randy Rhoads and probably done a great job, but he didn't want to play other people's songs. I get that. My God, the amount of talented guitarists on this bill though....Michael, Matthias Jabs, Jake E. Lee, Glenn Tipton and KK Downing, Dave Murray and Adrian Smith, Phil Collen, Steve Clark, Carlos Cavazo....it's just mind blowing. If George Lynch and EVH had also been there, you would've had guitar royalty of the early 80's.
This time of his life Michael was at his best. Very clean and precise playing. He is still amazing but I have never seen him play better then he did at this concert.
You could tell he had it that night wow wow wow wow and I'll say it again wow
I agree…. I always hoped he would recapture that early melodic brilliance .
I was blown away when I saw this show on TV in '84. I knew him before from the UFO-albums, but this was amazing 🎸 😳
Michael Shenker is one of greatest Guitarest even when he was in UFO in 1976
He did brilliant guitar riffs in the song let it roll 1978
i still play the Obsession album in my car :)
Even ? . . . " Especially ! "
Nobody will ever be able to beat this performance
Buenisimas imagenes.
Michael es de los pocos ke hacen solos con sentido.
I remember when his first solo album came out. It literally changed my life as a person and a drummer. Love ya man.
R.i.p. Ted McKenna.
🕊️
I've seen them on that tour in Würzburg Germany on the third of December 1983. They were opening up for Iron Maiden (Piece of mind Tour). One hell of a concert. I've been standing 3 m away from Michael and hell did he influence my musical life. I've got a Flying V ever since. Different Flying Vs in fact, but this man opened the door to Rock'n'Roll for me. Unrivalled!
Just wondering if you went to the show just to see Maiden but then got introduced to and blown away by Schenker?
That's exactly how it went. Never heard of Schenker before and a total Maiden Fan. I was blown away and remember every vivid detail of that night up to now. Merry christmas btw!
I had a feeling. Great story. I never got to see him in the 80's but I have seen him 5 times since 2004. Heres a good one; I went to see Schenker at some dive club in a town in PA. George Lynch's 'Lynch Mob opened for him. There were 2 Dokken heads that went with our group and beforehand they were in shock that Schenker wasn't the opener. Needless to say our group was in the first couple of rows and by the middle of Schenkers set the Dokken heads looked at me with their jaws dropped and said Oh, thats why!
Joe did you come away thinking that Dave Murray and Adrian Smith were nothing but average after witnessing Schenker?
i was 1983 in Munich when i saw MSG the first time live. MSG was the opener for Iron Maiden! A few days later i bought my first guitar! Michael was amazing! A fewe weeks later a few friends of mine and i started a Heavy Metal Band called SkullFracture.... Was a good time!
Traum Gefühl einfach alles der beste Klampfer aller Zeiten danke Michael
Ich war damals in Dortmund live dabei 😃 😎. Beste Zeit 👍
Great to read remarks of real fans of the icons playing some of the best music ever thanks 😊 Mike
Wie recht Du hast!
@@tommyhamburg9471 Hallo Tommy ich bin neidisch!
🎸💁♀️ich liebe as auch! I’m from Pennsylvania but took German in college. Hope I said it right!🤣
Cozy Powell and Michael Schenker great thx for upload
This is Ted McKenna on drums.
Was wondering who it was - he does a great job on Doctor Doctor.
@@1Phepsi Yes it's Ted. Not easy to see him in short camera flashes but obviously it's not Cozy's distinct drum sound. In my opinion if Powell was great with MSG - as well as anywhere else - Ted did a fantastic job as Cozy's direct successor in the band.
Awesome - incredible musician and showman!
It was great following Michael Schenker and Gary Moore at this time. Each was a fan of the other, but they seemed to be in friendly competition to produce the most impressive guitar on record.
For sure Gary was so talented!
100 % Boss! Some of best guitar playing ever in hard rock
@@KILLRITUAL: The '80s equalled the '70s for guitar fireworks. :)
So true . I started to play guitar in 83 and Michael was my first hero until I discovered Gary Moore.
Thanks for this gem. Awesome to watch the master at work! Appreciate it.
Big. My music forever😍🥰❤💪
Fantastic...!
Guuau!!! Son de las mejores versiones en vivo q escuchado de estas rolas! Súperinspirados!
¡Lo mejor!
Simon Phillips on the studio LP............amazing.
Отличный концерт! Майкл великолепен! И Гэри тоже!
This concert was one of michaels best ever!
Very impressing!
Brilliant 🤘🤘🤘

Dude RUINED Doctor Doctor 😝 Never wanna hear him AGAIN
He did NOT "ruin" "Doctor Doctor", and he didn't sing out of tune.
He's not Phil Mogg--he's Gary Barden. This isn't UFO--it's MSG.
This concert changed my life!
The one and only reason I own a gibson flying V mr schenker schenker rules🎸🎸🎸😎
I loved being one of the few rockers in my school that new about UFO and MSG in 1977 to 1984. Even though I was a big YES prog rock fan, there was nothing as pure hard rock as ther Michael Schenker tunes. And he's still shredding in 2024
Most underrated guitar player of all time.
Think of all the shit grinder guitar players that are considered guitar gods!
Everyone talked about Van Halen back on the day but even VH admitted he inspired by Schenker.
Listen to Somebody get me a doctor and UFO Get Ready you can clearly hear the influence!
Have a great day everyone!
Arena rock at it's finest...great memories
🎸🙋♀️🎶Those were the days! I want to go back!🤣
I heard that Randy Rhoads was a big fan of Michael and you can hear that influence.
If you ever see a list of the best guitarplayers and Michael Schenker is not in that list. That list is a joke.
both Schenker
Brothers are awesome :)
Fuckin' A !!! Undeniably Great !!! Michael Schenker !!!
According to 'Rolling Stone' Kurt Cobain is better. Lol
Rolling stones is a fucking joke Kurt who???????
Ross Volk No his Michael Schenkers older brother to put it in the"right order".
I love how he didn't cut the extra guitar strings hanging from the guitar.
in love.
Always remember listening to Tommy Vance's Friday Night rock show and it featured MSG Reading festival 1982. Stunning and for me the best recording of Lost Horizons. Amazing tone and shredding with a purpose and feel.
🎸🙋♀️Great description! Shredding with a purpose & feel! Love it😊
schenker in the night!
Michael is way better than his brother. No need to rag on his older brother when his guitar playing speaks volumes.
Chris Glen (SAHB) on bass. He' s amazing too.
en mis top 5 a la guitarra ..!!!!
Into the Area!! WOW!
G.O.A.T big M S.G fan
SCHENKER !!!
Michael is totally out of it fucked up on drugs here but he is playing at an unbelievably high level.
EVH is the King...Ynqwie is the Maestro...Michael Schenker is the Master.

Michael
Yes, the guy can play..I gave up my efforts about the time I saw this to be more than a hobby guitarist. Good call probably to have a full time job :) Still try though, haha!
MSG最高にカッコいいよ!
What a shame this band is so over looked in rock history. With this line up, they could rock with any band in the world. Schenker is unmatched as a soloist, and for some reason I like the albums with Gary Bardon more than any other MSG singers.
He feels every damn note
Fantasticマイケル
The King of V power
🤟
A million times better than the Scorpions..
Love MSG 🥰🤘
I love msg with all my heart, but you can dream they had a singer as consistent and as fierce as Klaus
@@nathaninostroza7655 for me is Gary Barden the best ❤️
Does the word Schenker mean "brilliance"?
:) it actually means "giver" or "donator"... we may agree that he is giving his brilliant music to us :)
🤔 ... Hell Ya
Michael influenced so many. Not enough people know it though.
Who sings here? Love Schenker forever.
Gary Barden
Mike’s hair loss was becoming increasingly noticeable 😂
I have always wondered why they called it "Rock pop" festival in Dortmund. It´s no pop here, that´s for sure. This was nothing else than a real hard rock festival with most of the great bands, at the time. Some were missing (Accept was planned to be playing). But that weekend, december ´83, that was really something else.
The German television station ZDF, which broadcasted this, has always been run by old men who have no idea.
Hoppas Lars läser svenska, annars: It was an annual Tv-show with all the hot pop-act that year... They decided to make an all Hardrock-show of the Hottest Bands At The Moment... Hahahaha!!!! Fuuuuuuck they made it!!! And, Swedish TV bought the show in order to send it at December 13, hoping we wouldnt go outside and get drunk... Well, they failed - we got our parents to press REC at 22.30, Dec 13 1984...
And woooooooo.... We got drunk ...
👌🎸❤️🎸👌
I saw this in december 1983, and was blown away by Schenkers skills - he was the most skilled guitarist that night, albeit in good competition from the other guitarists, especially Jake E Lee.
But what was the deal with Gary Barden's jeans? That was awkward 😅
Is Barden wearing mom jeans? I know it all got kind of weird back then. Cocaine, groupies, mom jeans... What a great performance!
I wonder if he's sterile now
🙃
He needs ta put that trouser-trout to reat
8:50 wtf ... this is crazy singin´! Btw. I´m shure it was Feb. 4th 1984 because the day after something very important happened to me.
ワイ君がギター小僧だった頃、めっちゃ暑い日が続いていました…😢
Шенкер...,БЕСПОДОБЕН!)))
In my opinion, Ted Mckenna was the best MSG drummer. This footage is awesome!
peak
Those Rolling Stone lists are total crap...10 years ago they had EVH...75th on the list...utter garbage magazine.
Agree!
The singer is wearing my sister's pants!
SYKES , FUCKING MONSTER
It’s like heavy metal jazz…..
This was the time when he really blossomed as a solo artist. Absolutely brilliant! Not sure why he chose Gary Barden as a singer. Gosh, Gary was awful and tried to be too much like Lee Roth.
This was the time when many metal guitarist of the mid 80s and 90s were in awe of Micheal Schenker. And of course his work with UFO as well.
Long live Michael Schenker. He’s still rocking today.
In an interview Michael said he always liked the unique voice of Gary because he had this bluesy yet somewhat softer and gentler tone. As far as I can recall anyway...Cheers!
Gary es un horror. Ahi esta el " live at budokan" para recordarlo. 😇
@Lucky Ikr
Whatever, dude.
I've heard worse singers!
This guy sounds alright to me.
Shades of U.F.O.?¿MY WONDER all these years h20under the bridge, come on where have we originated fk

Bad tracklist. MSG should play their hits Axeman, Im gonna make you mine, Assault attack etc.
This ist not the complete Concert and the Setlist was chosen by the Broadcaster

あぁ、この頃はもうコージーじゃないんだね。
Michael plays much better! But Rudolf makes some very good songs!
Hacía.
Was never a fan of GB on vocals. In my mind why MSG never equaled UFO.
Correct . MOOG Was A Beast !
Whatever, dude.
I've heard worse singers!
This guy sounds alright to me.
Great sounds from.shit equipment. Ha
Song at 18:17 ?
That singer is so vulgar, it almost eclipsed M.S.' brilliance. And that is being forgiving. Bad move firing Graham Bonnet.
Bonnet fired himself. Exposing little Graham on stage is not very helpful for long term employment. But yes, Gary Barden isn't in Graham Bonnet's league as a vocalist.
GB was awful lol indeed agreed!! What the hell was Michael thinking? It ruined his brilliant guitar work.
🎶 Phil Moog
Whatever!
I've heard worse singers.
This guy sounds alright to me! 👍
