He's the Beethoven of Heavy Metal. No senseless shredding with 100 notes per second, but all tasteful leads Can't wait to see him perform live again ....!
This is the MSG I idolised in the early 80's. Live they were as tight as a drum and Schenker's solo on RB was as good as Stranger. He's back to form these days so I'm hopeful the "reformed" MSG will make it up to Scotland.
Last night i had a dream: i was backstage at this show behind an amp and motioned to michel...he came over..still jamming..and i cut those string hanging out on his guitar neck with wire cutters ! He didnt skip a note!..the show went on....
This is what i am searching , listening feed my my hungry mind , (sitting at home winding down ?atm) should be in bed at 1,52 am but i ain`t cause this music kept me awake ,and saved my life many times . when had to drive through the night .
esto es musica de calidad que tal temaso de estos alemanes un saludo de lima peru de luis marin rubio para los que aprecian a este grupo como dijo yhon winston lennon una persona es el reflejo de la musica que escuchas
Will never forget that day: Barbara S and Marc P and I were heading from Hanover to Hamburg in my VW Porsche, about 45 minutes south of Hamburg we got involved in a bad car accident. The car turned over three times, I was buried underneath the car, Barbara and Marc got kicked out of the car. luckily some guys from the fire department who drove by, lifted the car and saved my life. We all had to go to the hospital, Barbara had surgery the same day, Marc and I took off from the hospital and took a train to Hamburg, to tell Michael and Rudolph what happened. After the show I went with Rudolph and Cozy Powell to a reception from the record company,, Then we went to the hospital to check up on Barbara. Rudolph and Margaret then drove me to Barbel’s apartment in Hanover, where I spend the night and the next morning I called home to tell my parents about the car accident.
im sure~this is the most great- performance of Michael . whats amazing play!(;゜゜) ,its miracle i think~in those days ,he is young and he had full of energy
So in UFO it seems Michael Schenker performed left stage..then apparently MSG..phase switched to right stage.. which was the case the 4 times I saw him in 1984 .. Built to Destroy tour.. and also 2 times in 1987/88.. on the Perfect Timing tour.. So wow.. even on Strangers in the Night -UFO tour..1978.. I try and picture Schenker up there in that awesome performance captured live.. wearing all black..white V.. permed blonde hair.. really making his Mark, and awesome playful great style... And the rare pics of him returning to Scorps in 1979.. jamming on stage with w/brother ruldolf..shining star Michael down on stage posing cool as shit photos at that time..and his bringing of HALF the songs on Lovedrive.. how kick ass they are and his contribution to that LP musically is a huge part of the dynamic and greatness of it
He really didn’t use his pinky till people criticized him. To me he was great then. And we’re all different. He really didn’t need to use it to be great. I have to use mine. It’s how we learn that makes us different. And I’m glad He was always great!
Is true (Michael Schenker Group)🎵🎼🎶🎸😎👊 Cozy Powell "R.i.P "🎵🎼🎶😎👊 Paul Raymond "R.i.P"🎵🎼🎶🎸🎹😎👊 In my opinion is the best version 🎵🎼🎶🎸😎👊 Great line up: Powell - Glen - Raymond - Way And Schenker 🎵🎼🎶🎸😎👊
Schenker can rock that Flying V guitar like nobody else, including Jimi Hendrix. From what I understand it is not an easy guitar to play compared to, say, a Strat or Tele or an SG, etc. Which is why it does not have a large following by guitar players. I think Schenker could make any guitar sound like he does here with his Flying V. He is such a talented player and highly underrated, in my humble opinion.
Richie Blackmore, Michael Schenker, Uli Jon Roth, Randy Rhoads, Eddie Van Halen... The God Fathers of Shred guitar (Edit: If I'm missing anyone feel free to add :) )
No high gain master volume amps just a 50 watt Marshall from the 60,s on full blast and a wha pedal thats it pure tone and sound. The echo you are hearing is an copycat tape delay but its not run in front of the amp its only trough the monitors and the PA.
The amps there are 2204's from the late 70's. The JMP 2204's after 77 had a similar gain stage to the earlier plexi heads and like the plexi's you could connect the two different sets of inputs to create different tones. I don't recall Schenker ever doing this. The amps used on the first two MSG albums and tours were the same ones used on the UFO LP "Strangers in the Night."
This is very good. However, the solo is better on the Strangers in the Night tour and Album. I saw the 2112 tour and UFO warmed up for Rush !! That was my first concert and still one of my top 5. That was in October of 76'
different than the stuff composed with the famous '' BAND'' but better played and listeneable , I appreciate mostly mikeal than the rest of the scorpions , pretty much involve me in this 70 mood and a lot speedy .......good
Deserves way more credit than he's ever been given for pioneering the progressive metal approach. Does he rival EVH in this era.... maybe....Uli Roth as well....maybe
Adam C. This is fantastic but the original can't be beat. UFO , in their 70s prime were a special band of musicians each as talented as could be. MS was 16 or 17 when he recorded this back in 1974.
I would love Richie Blackmore and Jimmy page when I see them play so well like the one we have here ...It is unfair crap guitarist like Jimmy page and Blackmore are more well known than the one in this video ..
The bassist has his "Pete Way trousers" (as does the keyboard bloke), so they must be good... Unfortunately, the singer doesn't have his Phil Mogg vocal chords at 3:30.... Luckily, they have the best drummer in the world, ever.... (who seems to get them out of every dull hole that they get themselves into)
Michael schenker gary moore steve morse tony iommi richie blackmore are in my opinion the greatest guitar players ever like I said that's my opinion.
This is nothing less than a MASTERPIECE! Michael at his best.
Rest in Peace Cozy Powell and Paul Raymond 🤘
He's the Beethoven of Heavy Metal. No senseless shredding with 100 notes per second, but all tasteful leads Can't wait to see him perform live again ....!
guitarboogie2
I totally agree man you said it
What the fuck just happened here
This is music, take me back to the 60’s and 70’s please, no rap
Uncle Mick, Barden, Powell, Glen.
Best line-up in Rock.
Strangers in the night album by ufo has to be the best of Michael Schecker live great album !
So true! On Strangers they loved and felt the song, right here they only played it. Something like that.
"Strangers in the Night" de los mejores conciertos de Rock en toda la historia
FUCKIN' AMAZING! Michael is the most underated guitar player I ever seen.
unknown not underrated .
not to the millions who know him
What?!?!?!?!?! Underrated???? Are you on fucking drugs? He is one of the most influential and heralded guitar players in rock/metal.
Thank God this was recorded! Michael is beautiful! Stunning Golden God Icon Award 2014!
This is the MSG I idolised in the early 80's. Live they were as tight as a drum and Schenker's solo on RB was as good as Stranger. He's back to form these days so I'm hopeful the "reformed" MSG will make it up to Scotland.
Schenker always brings the fire when he plays, this song is on the double live UFO album, the favorite live album for me.
I lost count of the number of bands I saw Cozy Powell play with.
That 71 Gibson fly v medallion that Michael schenkers brother give him was the best sounding guitar he ever had !
and the 50 watt marshall amp that he used live for Strangers in the night. It was stolen after that tour.
What a talent and still he still is kicking some major Rock and Roll ass!
Lollollol!!!!
You gotta love the 4 Marshall stacks with double JMP heads!
You can have your Kemper or Fractal!
This is the most powerful live record of this song. Blew me away!!
Check it 2012 Augsburg Germany.
Sorry, but here is his best solo and the most powerful live recording of "Rock Bottom": ua-cam.com/video/n0OatiI5XcE/v-deo.html
It's my teenage years all over again!!!!🤘🤘🤘😁👍
Last night i had a dream: i was backstage at this show behind an amp and motioned to michel...he came over..still jamming..and i cut those string hanging out on his guitar neck with wire cutters ! He didnt skip a note!..the show went on....
RIP Cozy and Paul :(...
utterly absolute genius 🎸
Amazing solo! I was watching his left hand almost the whole time and I don't remember seeing him use his pinkie even once.
やはりマイケル・シェンカーにはギブソンのフライングVが良く似合う。カッコいい❗ちょっと乾いた感じの音が独特で、良く泣いている。のぶ😘
I will just say awesome and leave it at that.
Ahh, happy memories. I so wish I could go back :)
Yeah no kidding.
best song I've heard this year! ROCK STEADY
Only 377 views for this masterpiece??? What a wonderful piece of music this is!
MSG rocks ! My highschool days' hero back in 80's
三本指で頑張ってて可愛いしかっこいい、この頃は。本当にかっこいい
YES!! ...and he's finally coming back here.
An irresistable riff!!
Masterpiece. Michael jugando de local, y con la televisión alemana registrando el momento para la posteridad. Rock Bottom!!!

Ooh very good! I didn't know that MSG played this back then but it makes perfect sense that they would. Thanks for sharing.

Saw them with Rush at the cap center in ‘87 Great show
damn i love his tone here
AWESOME!!!!... Heart
and soul in this one....
Early MSG was on fire.
Michael!❤
awesome!
Simply marvellous. How brilliant is the section starting at 2:28? Bass, keyboard, drums vocal and guitar in perfect combination
This is what i am searching , listening feed my my hungry mind , (sitting at home winding down ?atm) should be in bed at 1,52 am but i ain`t cause this music kept me awake ,and saved my life many times . when had to drive through the night .
I'd love to have a jacket like Michael's (or even a shirt like Cozy's)

he switched to the stage left in the Obsession tour...maybe to get away from thrashed Pete Way? lol

Like the late Gary Moore, Michael never seems to use his pinky when playing lead.
Still freakin' amazing playing with just three fingers though!!

The guy in the middle of the audience at 8:22 looks like he's had his face melted off.
fuck...that ripped
Just needs Phil Mogg on vocals.

Not a Bad Cover of the UFO Song .
nice - butta.. the version of UFO is much betta,(LP)
Mike and his Dean guitar.
This is a Gibson Flying V. Now a day he is playing with a Dean.
Maybe now it's a Dean but that's his standard Gibby Flying V.
That's a Gibson the Dean came later... check out the headstock.
Naturally the V is cool, but ya never see an explorer bass....
ワルツ、白鳥の湖、チャイコフスキー
Another riff metalica stole
Where is it ?
3:25 to 7:25
5:48 why the fuck would they be filming anything other than this run
I love cozy Powell but that looks like a very uncomfortable drum setup
The dude @ 8:22..... He's NOT impressed... LOL

And the dude leftside in the front @7:46... must be his Brother! LOL

Do I like this better than the UFO version ????

This could've only been improved by the addition of Phil Mogg & Pete Way, and an ego reduction for Schenker......
