Kristina Brotzman I could be wrong but I think Brittney's point is that the dog behaves as he should onstage, just as the one in the movie did, even though in the movie they can edit and reshoot but onstage it's obviously all one take.
Just saw Lilla Crawford in Disney's Into The Woods playing Little Red Riding Hood. What a huge talent! If you loved her in Annie you will love her in Into the Woods.
I know this was 5 years ago but Into the Woods was amazing! Lilla is so talented. Someone mentioned the mic up above she might sound louder because of it, but regardless what a belt. I LOVED Into the Woods. The ones writing bad reviews about the movie clearly are not familiar with the musical Into the Woods. It is basically the same lol. They think Disney movies should be happy and sunshine and rainbows, but that's not always the case. The musical itself is dark in act II which is the point.
Haven't seen an Annie like this since Aileen and Andrea. Lilla Crawford's performance was genius and she has such a powerful beautiful voice. This kid was born for Annie!!:)
lilla is extremely talented. if you don’t like her singing, your dead. the audio got messed up because this was filmed in 2013. but she’s extremely talented and she’s the way she is. WE LOVE YOU LILLA!!!
Did anyone else notice the Sandy singing along to the final belt of the song? Hehe so cute. Lilla was a FABULOUS Annie. Wish I got to see this live. Annie is one of those musicals that should never stop running on Broadway.
I went to see this in Atlanta in 2012. I sat at the end of the theater, I was 41 at that time and I knew I was going to cry with this and when she calls the dog and he runs towards her and everybody claps those eyes of mine were full of tears..
Andrea McCardle, the original Annie in '77, revealed in an interview that the dog was trained to lie there until she slapped her knees, then he runs to her. Incidentally, this girl is the first Annie I've heard since Andrea who does this song justice. That poor kid they used in that awful movie couldn't sing at all!
+Galardia B'nargan Thanks for your display of political correctness (never criticize ANYBODY because SOMEONE may take offense!) I would only ask if you ever SAW that awful movie they made some years ago. If you did, and you think that little girl could sing, then I sincerely doubt your ability to judge the matter at all! As for the latest abortion (the "new" film with Jamie Fox, et al.) I don't know of any nominations and awards it received. In fact, I think they've already buried the mess in some archive somewhere.
I know that...she was also in the Into The Woods Movie as Little Red. I was stating my joy that she was cast in the movie, since the soundtrack hadn't been released when I made the comment.
+Ashleigh McLeish If you read the description you can see that this was the first preview show that they did for the new broadway production. Before this production, Annie had not been on Broadway since 1999 so this is the first time people were hearing "Tomorrow" (the most iconic song from Annie) being performed on a Broadway stage since then, so thats why people clapped.
I dont understand how she had that talent and skill by that young age. Holy cow. And also being in front of a huge broadway sized crowds. Im so jealous

a lot of the comments are saying that Lilla played the role ‘less annoyingly’ and i do agree in a sense that i believe the annie in an annie production needs to have a very intresting take on the role. Lilla seemed to have more of a sassy, but upright mood during the role, I think that the Annies must be able to have a “wow” factor. Just putting this random comment out there 😂❤️
a lot of time show dogs like these will have cotton balls placed in their ears during shows to reduce some noise :) . Their ear canals are also L shaped so it could never get lost down there!
Honestly this play saved the dogs life it was only hours for from being put down before the trainer got him for the part so what’s worse ears hurting or dying
QuantumForte it’s not her fault or the mic. It’s the camera’s bad audio. It doesn’t sound the same in theater how it sounds on a recording with a really bad audio
Speaking or time and the change it brings: I love the intricate balance and textures and counterpoint in the orchestra: clearly the orchestrators are consummate pros (as the instrumentalists); they’ve mastered the classical tradition, and I hear Wagner and Brahms (that sumptuously dark and soulful clarinet conversing its deep woodwind timbre against the strings- and all this with the contemporary pop percussion...within the orchestra the most marvelous interplay of textures, timbres, voices comparable to great chamber music, and that overall body in dialogue with the singing.... just the most perfect synergy of all the elements.
@SushiLegs So true; was going add in about the brass, glad I left it out for someone else to fill in. Nothing like the synergy of a great musical conversation.
It was 1979 and Hilary and I were enjoying London England. After the busiest of tourist days we rested at a theatre watching Annie. Live theatre the best and English audiences the most ready to laugh and sing.
Thank you very much Moonfall!! Watching this video with this beautiful song and wonderful interpretation from Lilla Crawford here in YT was the only option for me in Brasil. I love musicals and this song (and scene) is one of the most marvelous for me ever. Thanks again...
I think Lilla did an incredible job at reviving Annie. I started theatre much older and often regretted bring unable to even try for Annie. I was so proud to see her in the role.
It's a old song but the way she sings it makes me feel like life isn't so bad.it reminds me of uplifting gospel music back in the older days when thay sing with all there hearts
i never get bored of this song. it gives me a positive feeling about tomorrow no matter how hard my problem is. we just have to stay strong to live the day. cuz God gives us a life on purpose. put a smile and everything will be okay 👏😀
Lilla hits some of those harder notes without flinching. Bravo.
hot4crocs ikr she makes all the altos jealous 😂😂
hot4crocs she's definitely up there with Andrea
God, her mix is so naturally high and placed forward, it comes so easily. And such beautiful breath control and vibrato so young. Just gorgeous.
Brava
she used to go to my schl until she graduated
My God I really hope she SOARS as an adult and doesn't disappear. I love her
she playing into the woods
Beth_Crosby87 She was in the film version of Into The Woods playing Little Red Riding Hood.
even that dog can act! she called him, and he lays his head down on his paw, just like the actual dog in the movie does. That amazes me!
.
They probably trained him
Kristina Brotzman I could be wrong but I think Brittney's point is that the dog behaves as he should onstage, just as the one in the movie did, even though in the movie they can edit and reshoot but onstage it's obviously all one take.
thank you ingrid, thats exactly what i meant!
Brittney Pratt :)
Such a powerful voice for someone so young.
OMG this girl has such a bright future in front of her, seriously
Then, I'd recommend you watch Lilla in the film of Into The Woods. She plays Little Red, quite well.
I know, that's how I know her :)
@@ShawnsterVideos And the Who Was Show, meant for kids, but she was amazing
Wow! She knocks it out of the park. She was great in Into the Woods too
I really hope she got a standing ovation

How many times did that dog have to listen to that song?
ALOT. Plus now he's on the Annie tour, so probably hundreds of times😂
dohaperson1 About 300
As many times as they perform the show. Could be anything from 50 to 1000 depending on how long his run in.
It was a joke people...i.e. I'm implying "Poor dog had to listen to that horrible song 100s of times..."
dohaperson1 it's not a horrible song!
I bet in her head she was saying "so god help me if this dog runs of the stage"
It looked like it was at a part then she grabbed the leash (maybe rope).
lol yeah :)
What if the dog didn't go up to her when she called them. I would've kept saying "here Sandy, sandy, sandy, sandy" 😂
yes.
She is surpassingly LESS annoying than most of the Annies who have gone before her.
I know right?!?! They're all so loud and obnoxious!
Woooah, don't go so hard on Andrea McArdle. She is a lot better than her, and she is the original Broadway Annie when it first appeared in 1977.
{Kipshas1} I hate to disagree, but Lilla sang it better
{Kipshas1} lila sings better
Sadie Sink is amazing
But Lilla is better
Haven't seen an Annie like this since Aileen and Andrea. Lilla Crawford's performance was genius and she has such a powerful beautiful voice. This kid was born for Annie!!:)
I’d say she’s better than Aileen!
this girl has a beautiful voice.
The second I heard Lilla's voice in Into the Woods, I knew she had to have played Annie at some point in her life. And would you look at this!
There's something about this song that makes me cry everytime!
OH MY GOD. Lilla. Is. INCREDIBLE. What a voice!!!
lilla is extremely talented. if you don’t like her singing, your dead. the audio got messed up because this was filmed in 2013. but she’s extremely talented and she’s the way she is. WE LOVE YOU LILLA!!!
This song literally moved me I felt tingles
This child is a legitimate angel omigod I listen to this song ten times a day and get chills every time!
Wow! the vocals on this kid!
Didn't she play little red riding hood in into the woods?
Yup
Yes in the movie version of into the woods
The S.S. KitKat EKSS ahhhh she seemed so familiar, yass
Yep it's Lila Crawford.
Eva yes she is plays little red itohoos

Lilla Crawford was perfect for the role of Annie.
This girl is my inspiration. I love her voice so much. She inspires me so much to be the star I wanna be when I'm older. I love you lilla!!
I am so happy she is playing Little Red in the Into The Woods movie. I think she;s perfect for the role.
She played Annie don't you know for lisneing to the song

wow, that girl has an amazing voice 0-0
it gave me shivers
She has a really powerful voice. It's so beautiful. Bravo!
Woah she has a very powerful voice my ears almost burst while wearing headphones
not a lot of voices give me goosebumps but omg
Bloody hell what a voice. All I can say is that I feel like she was rushing a bit but otherwise flawless
I love the 1999 film version, but especially being live, is awesome
She’s on Broadway so I wouldn’t be criticizing her
Nah the mic is just messed up

Because this was the first time tomorrow was performed on a Broadway stage since 1999
The same people who clap when an airplane lands
Lilla has THE best voice in this role I've ever heard. I can't believe she's only 11 or 12 here.
This girl's voice blows me away every time I hear it!!
Sending chills down my spine. She's my new favorite Annie, and I listened to the McCardle version for about four years straight.
I forget how many 100's of girls she beat out for this role but she is nothing short of amazing and I agree: even McCardle was amazed by her.
This Annie has the best voice out of any girl ive heard do the part. EVER.

She's a really great Annie, my gosh that performance was astounding!
She is absolutely amazing!!! She hits every note perfectly and doesn't even flinch on the hardest notes!!
This young lady nailed it with both her amazing vocals and emotions in playing the role! Just amazing!!!!!
Wow, to be able to sing like that at any age, let alone as a child!
I can't stop listening to this.. She's amazing. Her performance is spot on. So much talent at such a young age :)
Haha first thing I see is Sandy get given a treat. I'm amazed and how well those dogs are trained for the stage

I am moved to tears all the time when I listens to her song.
Her voice is incredible!!!!
Wow, that girl had some pipes on her! I was one of the orphans in Annie when I was 8.

What a beautiful thing! the whole scene! The talent, the subtlety ... everything is impeccable. Congratulations!
It's sweet to hear Annie speaking with a New York accent.
I went to this for a field trip I was 11 and remember being there in the audience lol we also went to the Smithsonian, good times .
I feel bad for the dog... The speakers must hurt his ears
Ava JuneBug thats just the mic of the camera some of them don't work well on the sound of speakers

Mhm! I googled it and apparently dogs ears are very sensitive, way more sensitive than human hearing.

She's got a great broadway voice, but dang. If she's going to project that much take away her microphone. She doesn't need it.
QuantumForte it’s not her fault or the mic. It’s the camera’s bad audio. It doesn’t sound the same in theater how it sounds on a recording with a really bad audio
She’s in a bloody broadway theatre of course she needs it
QuantumForte H H is right and also... mics for a musical on broadway are practically required for the orchestra and people back stage to hear her...
Lilla is so good. She makes me cry. She is unbelievably talented, she sings this song like it's nothing. She's amazing and I know she'll go far

It's a old song but the way she sings it makes me feel like life isn't so bad.it reminds me of uplifting gospel music back in the older days when thay sing with all there hearts
This is Annie, not a pop-reboot where the orphans all have i-Phones and bust out a rap beat whenever they sing.
Blind nostalgia huh :) both versions have their good sides. I found the song in the new movie much better.
Cupcake Hoarder me either
That remake was totally pointless. No one asked for it and it's all auto-tuned... Not a fan. This is how Annie should be done
Exactly, Broadway is better.
That move was a joke and waste of money and their acting abilities
