It's not considered wise to wear a dress that looks the character but when you can sing that well and pick up choreography that fast I think they forgive you for it because she won the role of Molly and eventually took over the role of Annie . A lot of people on this thread are giving her a hard time just for her hair but it's naturally curly and she does stand out.

I met her when I was nine when it came to LA. She was very nice and sweet and down to earth. She just happens to be a very cheery person like me! I would be like that if I got to audition for such a big show.

The doggy has actually been in more than 2000 shows I know because my child supervisor is child supervisor for Annie at the 5th ave and that’s the same sandy by the way I am at Seattle rep in a thousand splendid suns

when I was Annie (not on Broadway), the boy who was Warbucks was only 13 and he shaved his head. It was only a camp for 2 weeks so there was only 1 show, too. Dedication!

H. Starkey On west end they do, not on broadway! The working conditions are (imo) better on West End... for the role of Matilda they share a part because that’s what the writer wanted and it’s a part of the shows image I think....

It’s Emmy She did. After 2 years, Izzy had grown out of her role and had started to get really bad reviews. Lily (the girl who dressed up as Annie) had gotten Mollie, but then she had because Annie because of the bad reviews

At that age, she was probably not just growing out of the role, but because her voice was probably also changing. I reckon it probably not anything the poor kid could control. Even the casting directors might not have been able to predict it. Every girl goes through puberty at a slightly different age.

That's Sydney Shuck, she eventually got Kate (one of the orphans). Her younger sister Brooklyn played Kate on Broadway.

The amount of respect I have for how they handle working with these children. Particularly how they go about asking the child if she actually wants to play Annie. Not being "Congrats you got the role!" But asking her if she genuinely wants to be a part of it. How he then asks again. And then asks about her being comfortable with the hair change. So often kids wellbeing is overlooked in this industry.
You don’t know how narcissists operate. He wants her to beg. He’s feeding off of his power and her reactions. Congratulations would have been more adult and appropriate. You don’t do that to an adult, touching their braids. He needs to go.

As an actress,I would never come in costume.For instance,when I went to Peter Pan auditions,I did dress more masculine(I'm a girl),but I didnt come in a full costume.I see kids come in similar clothes,like at into the woods,girls will wear red a lot,but they don't come in a full outfit.Its hard,and to many directors,managers,etc.,it looks like a grab for attention

They had to hire someone whose family was rich enough to could afford to go on a non-Equity tour for 2 years. The salary barely covers expenses.

@@caligal1090 the actors aren't covered by the union. so they get less rights. But the parents usually don't go on these things. they just visit. They must be really scrimping if the girl's mother is coming instead of hiring a guardian. But her contract won't be for two years even if the tour is. Children grow too much to get such long contracts.

A very talented family, and both Brooklyn and Raighleigh are now in the pre-Broadway run of Beaches! I hope it goes to Broadway and they both keep their roles!

I remember being in Annie. It was my very first big musical I’ve EVER got accepted into. It was absolutely AMAZING! I was an orphan. It was at a high school. They were putting on a production of it and they needed young girls to play the role of orphans. And I got chosen to be one of them. It was absolutely so much fun. I was actually obsessed with Annie since I was like two or three years old, and then years later that became my very first big production I’ve EVER done. Thanks to that wonderful experience, I’ve been accepted in many productions. I’ll keep on performing for as long as I can. I love musicals, and I’d like to be involved in many more whenever I get a chance.

It's incredible!!:) Also, the little girl in the red dress is Lily Mae Stewart and she did get a role in the show. She was Molly and just left the role a few months ago.
