    Brilliant to hear about your weekend. Love MCR - so glad the Elvanse is working well for you. Hoping I have as much success xx

    Are you still OK on it after a year or so?

      If you had told me a year ago that I would be getting up at 7am, sorting the kids for school and then starting work early, I’d laugh because my ability to start in the morning was non existent. It has been very good for me this past year.

    It's amazing to hear how much of a big difference that it's had for you. and I'm really glad you all had a great time over the weekend - the reception home sounded absolutely lovely
    hopefully this is the start of a big new and great era of sheepdog good stuff 👀
    My brother told me that he's in the queue just now so I'm hoping he gets put on similar stuff because goodness knows he needs it
    I still need to get the finger out and start the process for me to get it all progressed, but I'll get around to it eventually :P
    Things with me have been slowly but surely improving which is nice, thinking about getting a whole new bathroom put in so I need to find the money for that hahaha
    Insurance people haven't been the most helpful :P

      Thanks it was lovely and I hope so! I hope you and your brother can get the support you need too. Once it’s right it’ll be a huge boost. How’s your health now? Glad things are on the move. The insurance folk need to be offering you a full on ceiling , floor , walls and parts makeover surely? Like I guess bath/shower and toilet are probably salvageable but those pics you sent suggest that the rest and part of the kitchen are in need of a big rebuild! I hope they do it for you and you end up feeling better off for it. If you can take a cash offer from them and use it better, do that too but at the least they should be able to completely refit it all with one of their contractors and put you back to a fixed and working standard.

    This is what my 8 year old takes. It works so well for him. He has told me several times how much calmer and focused he feels and he notices that he plays with peers easier and does his school work with less frustration.
    The only downfall I notice is that he doesn’t eat or drink well when he takes it. He also doesn’t sleep as much but also doesn’t seem overtired during the daytime.
    I had never heard to avoid citrus with these meds. That’s so random. I did just google it and saw to avoid orange juice for an hour before or after taking the dose. 🤔

      That’s my experience too, my appetite is much lower. I forgot to say actually that on 2 of the days I reached 4pm and realised I hadn’t eaten since 8am and had to get food because I was feeling a little “off” but wasn’t really sure why. At work I just eat at 1 because it’s lunch time

    • @Java-D
      @Java-D 2 роки тому +1

      @@SheepdogSays that’s how he is. He doesn’t eat breakfast so usually drinks some milk with his medicine. Then I try to get him to have a drink and a few bites of something for lunch but he doesn’t feel hungry. Usually by dinner time he will eat a little bit better and drink some juice or water.

    • @SheepdogSays
      @SheepdogSays  2 роки тому

      @@Java-D I have reminders to drink usually or il start feeling unwell eventually and assume caffeine / liquid is the solution. Now adding food info the equation haha. It beats always feeling like I wanted to eat more tbh. I’m hoping I lose some weight from it, since I’m more active and less hungry.

    ive litterally started Elvanse at the same time as you. Elvanse has been the only medication that has worked for me. It completely gets rid of all my impulsivity and help me focus but it doesn't change how hard it is to start things or want to do things.

    • @SheepdogSays
      @SheepdogSays  2 роки тому

      Interesting, are you staircasing up to the higher doses too I assume? It may be that it comes in with time? I know there are 3 different adhd types too so it could be that? My sleep pattern is kinda wrecked right now haha! Hoping it evens out soon.

      @@SheepdogSays i have inattentive ADHD, im on 30mg atm, i tried 40mg but it made me feel like a zombie, i was pretty high from it lol. I probably had it too soon though. Now that im more use to the 30mg its not working as well so i might try 40mg again.

    Not sure if it happens to anyone else but I've noticed I'm much more hypersensitive to noise/ crowds ect when I'm feeling emotional.... literally I can be in n the exact same environment on different days with similar noise/ crowd levels on different days and one day it will hardly bother me at all the next day every little sounds feels ridiculous loud and I have to have ear defenders on . 🤷‍♂️

    • @SheepdogSays

      I’m getting that a bit this week with the kids talking at me a lot. Right now Ben is fake crying in the other room because he can’t have his game on at the dinner table and the noise is ending me because I’m tired etc. Lots of people call this “their spoons” like you have a finite number of spoons a day and if you are running low on them then more things can make you feel emotional

      @@SheepdogSays I was previously diagnosed with borderline personality disorder mainly because of my mood fluctuations and impulsivity (but we think this may be a misdiagnosis given they completely missed my autism and possible ADHD traits! But one of the main reasons was I seemed to go from ok (functioning) to crisis very quickly. I'm now starting to understand that it's not actually that much of a dramatic shift...it's more that I'm constantly trying to manage the overstimulation and at some point I find it impossible to keep functioning hence I would hit crisis and act impulsively, through years of therapy I've pretty much got the impulsive behaviours under control but now I'm much more aware of how and I why it appeared so rapid. Been on such an interesting journey of self discovery over the last few years. 😊

      @@crazycat1166 ah it’s a pain that they get it mixed up like that so much. It’s often not clear when autistic folk are getting overwhelmed and then when they’re upset everyone’s shocked because they didn’t see the signs.
