I know it wasn't the right thing to do, and I should've spoken to the Pediatrician about it, but I'm taking 30mg a day now and have been for about 1-2 months. I still feel a crash every now and then, but its less common and I can deal with them better now.

I'll eat, take my meds later... Nothing seems to be working. I'm close to not taking it at all because the crash in the middle of my work day is more detrimental to having more productivity in the mornings 😭
The only tip i might have, because i am still exploring myself: i put the lisdex in a big water bottle and drink the bottle empty over 1 to sometimes even 4 hours (to see what the effect has on my crash that i have in the middle of my dose) it seems to flatten that crash for me. Also: there is such a thing as natural tiredness rythms. Andrew huberman seems to be talking about that in his podcasts, maybe something to think about doing a sleep / meditation or non sleep deep rest protocol at the time you get a crash for about 20 minutes to give your brain some time to reset
How is your sleep? 8 hours and consistent? Are you drinking enough water with sodium? are you eating enough healthy high protein and fat diets? have you had your levels tested for any issues like low iron or vitamins? One option would be to take the meds later in the day. If you take them at 7 am and crash at 2pm youre getting about 8 hours. Try taking it at 10 or 11 am. baking soda or potassium bicarbonate to keep urine alkaline the whole day up until you're ready for it to wear off, then consume acidic foods/drinks. acidic urine is what excretes the meds quicker.
Should physical exercise in an optimal scenario be on days without the medication? I feel like my heart has to work even harder and faster against the slightly increased blood pressure from the medication when compared to working out without it. Greetings from Germany
Hi Reinemache, exercise is generally recommended even on the medication. If you noticing the heart rate or blood pressure is too high during exercise maybe consider reviewing with your doctor to see if medication dosage is too high, underlying blood pressure issue needs to be treated or another reason that might be able to be rectified.
I had every tried all the medications but decided in adulthood to stop a couple years after Vyvanse released. I just got my doctor to write me a script of Vyvance to test the waters again years later. I honestly have not so great memories taking IR meds, they gave me too many ups & downs & i wasn’t in control of my dosing later in the day as a kid. I really hope Vyvance is gunna be different 🙏 I’ll use these tips to stay ahead of the game, thanks bro 😎
Calms your brain during the day then crash when it wears off in the afternoon and thus get the racing thoughts especially before bed. You have to take low dose in the afternoon and an even lower dose before bed. Can't believe doctor's haven't figured this out yet.
Hi, has anybody experienced muscle pain/stiffness or back pain? I'm on my 2nd day and that is my worst symptom. Acute shoulder/neck pain. Any tip to manage these symptoms or does it just mean I need to stop the medicine? It's a 3 day weekend and will only be able to reach my doctor next Tuesday 😢. The pain was bad yesterday and twice as bad today cause I m tensing because of the pain.... 😢
I have the muscle tension in my head, neck, shoulders and back. Also, I'm clenching my teeth. I think it's part of the crash. I took some ibuprofen to relax. I'm not giving medical advise, but I feel the same symptoms.
I stopped the medication after 5 days due to this. It was crippling. Eye pain, neck pain, tension, face hurt. Felt like my head was going to explode. 6 hours of relief just to end up a mess at the end of it just wasn't worth it :(
I had stiff neck and overload in the back of my brain the first two week. It helps with neck and shoulder exercises and stretching afterwards. Be gentle to yourself. It is easy to overdo things when you finnally stop procrastination. Remember to take breaks. And check your blood pressure and pulse regularly if it does not go away.
After 2 years of using vyvanse 50mg,I've felt crashes for 3 months even though I take the pills just start eating from morning to night, always tired and can't do anything...I feel I'm addicted to this drug and just take it no matter it works or not I gained 5kg easily. I'm crying...
My friend said it the best. "What goes up, must come down" The higher the does the harder the crash. You CAN'T prevent it sooner or later you will crash. The 10mg crash is a lot softer than the 70mg crash. You can drug it out later but you WILL have to crash back eventually.
Can you do a video on your recommendations on vyvanse and getting pregnant? AND vyvanse and hyptertension after 10 years of use? There are little to no studies on either of these points.
Currently the recommendation is to not take Vyvanse if trying to get pregnant or pregnant as there is no information on its effects. Like you said, no research that I can see or know of on the hypertensive effects of Vyvanse after 10 years but in general blood pressure is recommended to be monitored while taking Vyvanse by your doctor.
I actually take concerta instead of vyvanse, but I doubt my doctor will prescribe me both, since I am on the maximum dose of concerta. I thought that would help too. As my adhd symptoms are way worse when coming off of concerta at the end of the night than they are if I don't take any concerta at all. However, while it is working it works amazingly.
I have just been diagnosed to my surprise. I find the medication works well however the crash is bad. I am currently fasting for Ramadan and eat at 3am and next at 7.10pm. Would this be making the crash worse? As I am very fatigued in the afternoon
Would methylphenidate work as well as dexamphetamin? Where I live, the former is prescribed for adults much more than the latter .... I'm not even sure that I can get (or afford) Vyanse, but controlled-release methylphenidate starting in the morning works pretty well ...
Different patient's respond differently to each (some are great on Vyvanse, others on methylphenidate) so for the individual it can be a bit of trial an error.
my problem with vyvanse is that it takes too long to start, i need to get started immediately, so i have to take a dextroamphetamine along with vyvanse to get everything jump started. vyvanse alone, i have to wait 2-3hrs or more before it kicks in. crazy. it does give me dry mouth and sometimes i can't sleep long enough with vyvanse, meaning only 4-5hrs of sleep. once again crazy.
Hi there! I just started a few weeks ago. I am struggling on the days I don't take it. I don't want to use it everyday because I don't want to lose my spark or turn into a zombie, so I in most weekends I don't take it. Those days I feel so extremely tired and a bit depressive. Do you have tips how to deal with this or make it less worse on those days?
General advice to someone that is noticing significant drop off on days not taking the medication, cannot give specific individual advice over the internet, but in this situation firstly optimise lifestyle factors (good sleep, exercise, eat healthy, don't smoke/drink etc.), then if still really bad can consider a lower dose of medication on those days. The last option is to take the medication everyday but then there is a risk of tolerance to the medication.
I have a lot of trouble eating in terms of the reduced appetite effect of taking Vyvanse. I've struggled with keeping an appetite my whole life (unrelated to body-image, so not an ED), especially when it comes to the fact that I often forget to eat, so it really has been troublesome with Vyvanse despite some of its helpful effects in managing my ADHD symptoms. Do you have more advice when it comes to this? It makes me gag at the thought of food and makes everything look unappealing... I know that eating helps improve the med's function, but that doesn't seem to be motivating enough for me. Setting alarms to eat is difficult because I never eat meals at the same time everyday (either due to waking up late, being busy, or just unmotivated to cook.) I would appreciate some tips on this (anyone with a similar experience please reply as well.) PS: Thanks for the informative video!
I have to take at least a 1 day break after a few days cause I get so damn tired on these pills. Ashame too cause they are life enhancers for someone with ADHD like myself.
Funny, I've been on Vyvance from nov 2022 to april 2023 and its been great, much life, but I'm giving ritalin a go because I've never had a normal brain so I don't know how good it can be and the Ritalin is doing this to me. Maybe you'd do better on Ritalin lol, swapsies. Of course only with your specialists advice, just letting you know its an option 🙂👍 hope you get a result!
HELP!! I just started vyvanse after a 6 year break. It been almost a week I feel unmotivated and alittle ancy and still have my appetite. Does it take 2 weeks for it to kick in? I'm talking 20mg could it be to low?
20mg is actually really low. But, the dosage does depend on your height and weight, IMO. (*Not a doctor. Vyvanse patient, 2010-2023) I began age 28. 5'2, 96 lbs. Started at 30mg. And I was teeny-tiny! So 20mg does sound low. I think it goes up to 70mg. So the 30mg, then a couple months later, dosage up, then down, back up, blah, blah, settled at 40mg. Up to 120-125lbs by age 34-35 (it happens... we get old...) and with the weight gain, I've got a fabulous psych NP and she allowed me to test a higher dosage and I've been at 50mg since. I've lived with moderate ADHD since middle school, in retrospect, but not diagnosed until age 20. Because I knew EVERY. DAMN. THING. IN. LIFE. when I was 20... 😉😇 ...the short version is, I was inconsistent about taking meds and making psych a appts a regular priority. I was given Strattera by that doctor anyway, and it is not noticeable in any significant way. Not to me, at least. I assumed all ADHD meds available for a medical professional to prescribe were similar and, knowing everything, I saw no need to investigate whether or not my assumption was correct or incorrect. It was correct, obviously. I was VERY smart. 😉😉😉😉 so, I moved along... At 26-27ish, realizing (to my utter horror, at least initially, lol 😆) that I, in fact, knew basically nothing about anything, it was then I revisited alternative ADHD management options that were different than my original experience at trying to get it under some control. Very happy today, super young with a mere 41 years on Earth so far, 🌎 that I went back and tried a different approach medicinally. (Strattera is considered a stimulant, but not a controlled substance since there's no amphetamine component. It's a totally different brain thing.) It works great for some people. Hey, maybe you're my opposite and for you, Vyvanse is shit and you need to try Strattera! 😮
I did all these and still crashed hard 😔 with the adderall shortage i feel helpless. I never crashed in 7 years taking adderall. Crashed and had emotional breakdown after vyvanse. I feel like i have no options left. 😔
Hi Ashley, there can be other factors to consider such as stress, burnout, taking on took much at the moment that can all contribute. There are also some patient's that unfortunately do not respond well to Vyvanse. There are still other options such as Ritalin, Concerta, Strattera and Guanfacine depending on the specific symptoms. I have videos on most of these so you can check them out if interested. Hang in there I'm sure you will find something.
this is 10 months late and im also experiencing this as well. Ive heard anecdotally that dosaging for vyvanse and adderal are very different and generally speaking adderall dosing is stronger than vyvanse. perhaps the dose was not high enough? Im going to be talking to my doctor in about a week and I was wondering if you are still on Vyvanse and if so what helped for you?
Appetites fine sleeping early but I’ve been on Vvyvanse a week and I don’t feel like I’m functioning . I’m on 50mg and feel worse . I. Asked to change from dex because they were too much ( maybe I was taking too many) now I regret changing to Vvyvanse .. I’m 46

Just to provide a counter point: I do great on Vyvanse, but my time on Strattera was a constant state of feeling numb to the world. It was a somewhat comfortable feeling, but my relationships suffered as a result of not really caring about other people. Different strokes for different folks! I'm happy it works for you, friend 😊

You can and should only speak for yourself. A very healthy 'YOU' will always handle medication much better than an unhealthy 'YOU'. When people share their experiences of taking medication you don't know a thing about them. They could be severely overweight and drink one coffee after another. They might be on a very poor diet...you just don't know.

baking soda or potassium bicarbonate to keep urine alkaline the whole day up until you're ready for it to wear off, then consume acidic foods/drinks. acidic urine is what excretes the meds quicker.

My crashes happen around 2 pm and I literally binge eat all afternoon 😢
Ikr I was going to say I wish I forgot to eat! Only get the suppressed hunger for about 4 hours.
6 hours of relief just to end up a mess at the end of it just wasn't worth it :(
It is prob too high of a dose, I'd ask my doctor for a lower dose
Check your blood pressure ASAP
I had stiff neck and overload in the back of my brain the first two week. It helps with neck and shoulder exercises and stretching afterwards. Be gentle to yourself. It is easy to overdo things when you finnally stop procrastination. Remember to take breaks. And check your blood pressure and pulse regularly if it does not go away.
Love this, thanks so much for the tips
For me the crash was about 8-10 hours after
Also we need to EAT and drink water.
Those two things legitimately make all / any side effects go away
Super helpful! Thank you!!

I just started 70mg of Foquest. Is this the same way i would deal with a crash? What if I had a coffee several hours later. Would it hurt? Thank you,
thank you!
Thank you. Is taking a Vyvance in morning and afternoon ok? About yo ask my specialist for that

Could be a factor as well in contributing to the feelings of a crash
Would methylphenidate work as well as dexamphetamin? Where I live, the former is prescribed for adults much more than the latter .... I'm not even sure that I can get (or afford) Vyanse, but controlled-release methylphenidate starting in the morning works pretty well ...
Different patient's respond differently to each (some are great on Vyvanse, others on methylphenidate) so for the individual it can be a bit of trial an error.
These pills ruined my life in high school but now in young adult hood they are improving it, weird.
Different hormonal context in your body affecting things, maybe.

my problem with vyvanse is that it takes too long to start, i need to get started immediately, so i have to take a dextroamphetamine along with vyvanse to get everything jump started. vyvanse alone, i have to wait 2-3hrs or more before it kicks in. crazy. it does give me dry mouth and sometimes i can't sleep long enough with vyvanse, meaning only 4-5hrs of sleep. once again crazy.
I took it today and was tired before noon :(
What is the pill you suggest to take for the crash? Is it a medication ?

I have a lot of trouble eating in terms of the reduced appetite effect of taking Vyvanse. I've struggled with keeping an appetite my whole life (unrelated to body-image, so not an ED), especially when it comes to the fact that I often forget to eat, so it really has been troublesome with Vyvanse despite some of its helpful effects in managing my ADHD symptoms. Do you have more advice when it comes to this? It makes me gag at the thought of food and makes everything look unappealing... I know that eating helps improve the med's function, but that doesn't seem to be motivating enough for me. Setting alarms to eat is difficult because I never eat meals at the same time everyday (either due to waking up late, being busy, or just unmotivated to cook.) I would appreciate some tips on this (anyone with a similar experience please reply as well.)
PS: Thanks for the informative video!
why does my crash come before the meds even peak? then does away when it peaks, then i crash again after the peak
HELP!! I just started vyvanse after a 6 year break. It been almost a week I feel unmotivated and alittle ancy and still have my appetite. Does it take 2 weeks for it to kick in? I'm talking 20mg could it be to low?
Vyvanse typically works relatively quickly, if you are noticing minimal effect after 1 week consider increasing the dose with your doctor!
Starting dose is 20 i think
@@robgibson8640 not if you're switching from one amphetamine to another. There's cross tolerance so you go to an equivalent dose of the other.

Just to provide a counter point: I do great on Vyvanse, but my time on Strattera was a constant state of feeling numb to the world. It was a somewhat comfortable feeling, but my relationships suffered as a result of not really caring about other people.

Can this be used for ptsd
Hi User, Vyvanse is not a typical treatment for PTSD
When I miss taking a pill a day I feel hungover that next day after that missed day 😢
That is called withdrawals, my friend
Luckily I only seemed to get crashes in the first couple weeks of titration (unless I've dropped the ball on eating that day), I would get so insanely physically hyperactive and just really bouncy at 6pm it was a disaster 😂
Haha, me too. The first two weeks was crazy.
My phone and laptop are on night mode 24/7
I have to take a 5mg quick release and a cup of coffee to help me get to sleep.
I have a genetic mutation that makes vyanse get much more slowly out of my system, after 22 hours. It is perfect. But I can never ever more drink coffee with caffeine. I can live with that.

So in short, you can’t
0:20 surely you can just add a little to a drink bottle that you carry on you all day no?
Like if you know how much you need dosage wise then (I’m not a dr or on this medication I’m just learning about it- as I’m learning I’m wondering if i actually it 😅)
Anyway if you know how much your dosage should be then you could take your normal dosage and then add say 20mg to a drinking bottle. Then when you feel yourself start to crash you could start to drink based on how late at night/your tolerance etc etc…
Would that work do you think?
Asking for a friend because I’m in the military and if I had adhd I wouldn’t have a job.
Hope you’re doing well. I’m just learning about this now and I’m in my 30s. ✌️
