Great review!, really appreciate the no nonsense/no hyperbole approach. From a scuba divers approach I saw this as awesome, you don’t get those various perspectives that challenged you with the drone until you’re down there!. Welldone
Finally, someone honestly reporting that the video footage quality (even 4K) is subpar unless shooting in crystal clear water. There is a reason they supply a GoPro mount. I have tried the M2 in good, medium and poor vis conditions here in the Baltic Sea and an attached GoPro 7 black outperformed the M2 every time. The drone is super manouverable but then just becomes a very expensive delivery system for a GoPro.
Thank for the video, you obviously have a flare for film making, but bothered I fly Drones and ROV's, there are some similarity's, but an ROV pilot would understand that there is more to do with an ROV and excepts that for the chance to explore somewhere that not everybody has the chance to. I have 2 ROV's, when I go out with the ROV I take a fresh bottle of water with me to rinse it of, dry it of the best I can and then take it back out of the box when I get home to air dry, this is all part of the hobby.
Finally I can find where they tied a cement block to my cousin Vinnie and drown him in the lake at 0ur family hunting lodge. While I'm at it, I might as well look for my cousin Jimmy too. All kidding aside, I do like this submersible drone and would make use of its underwater recording ability for video projects. Thanks for the presentation.
Good luck with that. Sorry for all the missing cousins. There’s a lot of potential with these kinds of ROVs especially with the right waters. Let me know how the search goes!
Pretty good description of the M2. I have it’s little brother, the Gladius Mini and it has similar negatives. The big bonus I can see that makes me want to get a M2 is the ability to translate left and right. The mini, at nearly 1/3 the price, is strictly a pivot then straight forward or reverse. The ability to translate side to side would be really nice.
Very excellent report. Your shutting down and storing segment is terrific. I have not seen anyone talk about his downside. It totally turned me off the idea of purchasing underwater drones. I will stick with my flying drones.
i appreciate your over view and my concern is dirty water to weather im going to be able to navigate and see anything , if i was using it id have spare water to wash and a Air compressor to blow it down afterwards , but that me
You cant make comparison to a aerial drone to a ROV an ROV suppose to be big,its accessories suppose to be large especially the controller,if you want a toy ROV but one of such dont buy professional products and want it to be a toy, that is not a toy.
$5k ouch. If it had a gimble maybe. Far too much missing functions being worth that. If it had a controllable arm and a payload hook. A way to attach an airbag to items. Or Buoys.
5k is for the M2 pro, however, with that more advanced model, you also then need to get the additional attachments for those more advanced features like Sonar. Hopefully as this segment matures we can see these advanced features become more standard across cheaper and more affordable ROVs. Thanks for the watch!
GPS doesn't work underwater. It only penetrates about 5 feet before it's no longer detectable. You also can't just use INS since you don't know what the currents are like. Plus adding an INS would probably double the cost
horrible video, you start by saying that it is very heavy which is not true, it shows that you do not know the environment of the underwater drones and less that of the ROV, the cable has enough tension to be able to load it without the need to bend over, and the The biggest mistake you had is thinking that an underwater drone is the same as an aerial one, the need for a tether makes it different, I think you know or should know that underwater cannot be transmitted wirelessly, in short ... .. horrible video !!! You should understand that an underwater drone is more of a tool and not a toy.

@@paulAntill They were probably very naughty cousins.

What an amazingly honest review...really appreciate yoir effort ..thanks a lot and keep up the good work
Shamwow! 😂. Awesome video, best review I’ve seen.
Why do you keep saying your missing so many features without using a phone? Your 100% meant to use the app... that's how you see where you going...

This is not a heavy drone. 10 lbs maybe. That is the shipping box too. Chasing does sell a proper carry case for it.
Should always run a Paracord line to the drone connected the length of the cord so u can use as a tether if gets stuck
The e-reel is expensive but it is a big quality-of-life improvement.

Dip the whole spool in the water after and coat with waterproof spray makes it slide and stay untangled better
a couple of rubber bands to hold the phone?
Should make a bag for the drone that's a back pack and the small hand bag for accessories

Use can of compressed air to dry off
Should check out the qysea FiFish v6S
Be sure to take extra precautions against aquatic hitch hikers and help stop the spreading of invasive aquatic species.
Jab small sticks in the ground make a lil wall so stuff do not slide down the bank. U have to work smarter not harder kid.
Get a Table?
MINE HAS NEVER WORKED YET
3K FOR 0
(Setup, Teardown, and Experience) and the whine a little bit
no teardown
It needs GPS

Whiniest review ever.....
Show footage...ffs.
To much whining! 🍼 Boo who they didn’t make it to my preferences 🤦♂️
