    Great reviews on the Chasing products Alan. Have you any idea how durable the cable is? We have a fish in New Zealand called Barracouta which likes to bite any thing that moves. Does the drone float if the cable was severed? I intend to tether a fishing rod to the back of the drone with 120 lb braid for a bit of security. Thanks.

      Thanks Steve! We have some toothy fish in Canada too that have attacked various cameras that I have used while fishing. While the tether has good tensional strength I don’t think it would hold up to slicing by something like your barracouta or our larger pike and Muskie. The M2 is positively buoyant as long as you don’t have accessories attached - like the claw or additional lights/cameras. Good luck and let me know how it works out!!

    Great videos here, Alan. I have been looking at the Fifish V6plus and of course the Chasing M2. One difference I see is the angle of the claw. Do you think a slight V-shaped shim at the rear of the 4 bolts that hold the claw on (with longer screws , of course) would angle the claw up for a better camera field of view and is there room (clearance) between the front of the drone and the claw to do so. Also, I am looking at ordering the 200M tether (the longest I can find), do you think there is or could be made, an adapter to attach more than 1 tether for additional length? Unless you thhink the Fifish is a better machine. Thanks for your time.

      Thanks so much for the feedback! To be perfectly honest I have had no issues with the claw angle and the views of the claw on the first person view. I’m sure you could shim it but you might find that it works as is. The one comment I have heard is that the V6 claw control is a bit easier although I have no personal experience with this. The M2 has a single button touch which beckoned second nature after using it for a while. Push to open, push to close. The tether length is an interesting question as I just noticed that the M2 Pro comes in three configurations - 200m, 300m and a 400m tether. I’m awaiting confirmation as to whether the longer tethers can be used on the basic M2, knowing of course that it wouldn’t change the Max depth limit of the ROV. I’ll let you know here what I find out and thanks again for watching and commenting!

    Great video, many thanks!
    Can you, please, clarify, whether this ROV is able to write GPS-position (coordinates) into EXIF-header of jpg/dng file, which it shoots?
    Or may be you can recommend some othe ROV model that can do this.
    I need this functionality in order to map bottom pollution and make web-GIS which shows garbage locations (georeferenced points) with repective photos shot by ROV.
    Just approximate position (RC/controller position) will do since I will be deployng ROV almost vertically from boat.
    Best regards!

      Thanks for the feedback. I think you might have got your answer already from a forum that we are both on but unfortunately the M2 does not write coords to EXIF. I am hoping to be able to review the M2 Pro on this channel as well as I believe it has that capability which will be useful to quite a few operators. I’ll keep you posted!

    Hi Alan - love your videos on the M2 drone. Saving hard to buy one of these yellow beauties. How strong is the tether cable? If you are retrieving something from the seabed like say a tackle box with the claw, can you pull directly on the tether cable to get the M2 back up to the surface? And do you think the E-Reel strong enough to winch the M2 up to the surface if you have a moderate payload such as the claw and a Go-Pro, and maybe some small object held in the claw??

    • @TheFishFindersTV
      @TheFishFindersTV  3 роки тому

      Thanks very much for the feedback jj-snax! I don't have the spec sheet with me at the moment but the tether has good tensional strength and I've had to rely on it a few times to hand pull the M2 back out of weeds. How well it would work under load (claw attached to heavier objects) I can't say for sure but it is pretty strong. I don't think I would use the e-reel to pull even the bare M2 back to its point of departure tho. The E-reel in my opinion works very well as a tether minder but I don't think it's designed to pull more than the wet weight of the full length of cable. I could be wrong but I don't want to find out! Thanks for watching.

    Great review. Looks like a nice product, but I am curious, would it be possible to have the option to reel the tether out electronically if the motor was designed to operate in both directions or would pushing a tether not work very well?

    • @TheFishFindersTV
      @TheFishFindersTV  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks for watching Tom! Actually the free spooling tether has very little friction. I find now that the M2 will easily pull the tether out on its own and this way only the exact amount of tether needed is unspooled. In my opinion this would be more favourable than trying to motoring the tether out - which would probably just leave a mess of loose tether on the spool and on the ground anyway.

    • @tomlindley2402
      @tomlindley2402 3 роки тому

      @@TheFishFindersTV That makes sense. Do you know what type of connectors are used on the tether, and how many wire pairs the tether has? I really like the E-Spool design, but already have a couple mini ROVs that are from a different manufacturer. I wonder if it would be possible to switch out the tether..

    Alan, thank you for your M2 videos. They really helped me make the decision to get one, plus the arm, plus the e-reel. What hard case did you end up purchasing that you show in this video? I agree that using a hard case around the M2 case would be ideal...especially with wheels. Thanks

    • @TheFishFindersTV

      Congrats on your purchase! I’m glad my experiences through the videos helped in your decision making. I’m very pleased with my purchase and looking forward to what the company will come up with next. I am still using the original soft case for the ROV itself and a GOProfessional case that was for an early model DJI Phantom for the e-reel. Not ideal but I’m still trying to determine all of the tools and accessories I’ll need to accommodate in one case before purchasing. The reality right now too is that I often have the ROV setup and ready to go in the rear seat area of my vehicle for my dive sites that are drive-to - so no big rush! Looking forward to hearing your M2 experiences and maybe see you on (or under) the water one day.

      @@TheFishFindersTV I also found great help in this video deciding that the e-reel is a actually a no-brainer for me. What's your experiences so far with deep diving and lighting (more than 150 feet)? I'm contemplating getting the floodlight but it feels very pricey.

      That’s a great suggestion Jules. I was using mine on a job today and I completely agree that keeping both hands on the controller would be preferable. Especially when in current or around entanglement hazards where looking away from the controller isn’t ideal.
