    What you do is so incredibly satisfying and calming to watch. I cannot believe I am the 67th comment here because your work is so amazing I would expect you to be one of the most subscribed-to art channels. I know you get a lot of "wow, this is great" comments and I know they blur together, so I hope you know I am a random stranger who is taking time out of my busy day to watch specifically your work and doing so with excitement and anticipation because it is so interesting to watch. Just let that sink in. I subscribed to you after Jazza's video and have been so excited to see what else you do after watching nearly all of your other videos. Maybe it sounds weird but I just wish my favorite UA-camrs could know how talented they are and how much we appreciate them and sometimes I feel like a generic comment isn't enough to get that through. @@lewtes52 You have no idea how often I've heard these arguments before.
      No, "offended" or "angry" is not what I am. But about 99% of the times I see somebody making them, it's not in fact to be helpful. It's to show off what "good people" they are and _strongly suggesting_ that others need to comply with them, unless they want to be one of the "bad people".

      People from said minorities have every right to voice their own complaints. They don't need some sort of champion comming in from the outside to do it for them. If you see someone trying to shut down their complaints, unless they try to prop themselves up as champions of their whole group as well, that's where stepping in is actually helpful. That's how you defend marginalized voices.

    As a creative director in a completely different field, I can feel your frustration going through that process. It's like failing 'til it all comes together and works (and sometimes not). But if I could recommand you one more step to add to your workflow to ease your pain and bring some relief to your process it would be to create conceptual sketches of what you want to come with. Even elementary one(s) but that'll help seting your tone, intentions, volumes, perspectives, etc in addition of saving a shitload of time trying different things again and again (on a conceptual point of view, you'll still have your fair amount of wasted time handling materials, of that I'm sure ^^). Anyways something is still definitely missing here between your benchmark/moodboarding and the execution of your project. Keep up the good work, it's so inspirational and your commitment and its result definitely makes me dream. :) +1 hell of deserved sub

    I wonder if silicone caulking that’s used for sealing bathtubs would work to glue those lights.

    • @RealTerrainHobbies
      @RealTerrainHobbies  3 роки тому

      Hmm, there's an idea to try... The trouble would be it's cure time which is usually quite a while. But if it can be clamped in place and it ends up working that's a great solution

      @@RealTerrainHobbies - I looked into it a little more just because I was curious and also because I am a fellow crafter and it seems that only silicone will bond silicone. There seems to be several brands that will do the trick that will cure faster then bathtub caulk. One mentioned is Silpoxy and another is Devcon silicone adhesive which may be available at maybe Lowe’s or Home Depot. (I know you can order the Devcon on Amazon.)

    I got a bunch of those micro smd leds. Do u have any info on them? I’d like to know what they are in v. What did you connect them to battery volt wise?? This looks awesome!

    • @RealTerrainHobbies
      @RealTerrainHobbies  3 роки тому

      They're anywhere from 2-4V so using two AA batteris in series gets you 3v which works for them. Or you could use a 12v adapter or 9v batter but you'd need to add resistors to the LEDs to bring it down to ~3V

    Hey, have you tried using a glue called E6000 or E8000 I use it for all my miniature doll's house projects, it comes with a needlepoint tip so you can get glue into small places.... You can pick it up on usual online sites (ebay/amazon) it's not overly cheap (8.00 GBP) but its the best I've found that is strong and reliable

    I’d love to see you and Jeremy collab with each other. Maybe getting some of the same packs of parts/pieces/models and seeing the different ways you both go about putting something together with it/different techniques you use, and/or using the same mood board and seeing what different materials you choose to achieve that style/aesthetic, and then maybe zoom call with each other to discuss your approaches and show off your models! Maybe throw something like that in a list of “what the heck do I want to do for a video next month” if you feel like you’re stuck or unenthused with a work in progress and need a little palette cleanser. I want to do that with my friends and challenge myself to learn something new, but none of them are terrain nerds. Closest hobby in common we have is resin 3D printing and minipainting. I enjoy Jeremy’s channel so much, been watching for a few years now I think, and I don’t think I’ve seen him use cork much in his builds that I would like to see him get challenged to do.
    Glad I stumbled across your channel today, it’s been fun going through a bunch of your builds! I feel really inspired by your dedication and attention to detail.

    This is so amazing wow. On the whole silence except background noise thing I will admit i find it difficult to watch. There's different quality levels of silicone like that covering the lights - some are more resistant than others (the platinum-cure stuff is nigh on untouchable) - but my personal experience is that your best chance to 'glue' it will be with the silicone sealant you use around showers/bathtubs. The solvent in that will let it adhere to the lower-tier silicone objects. If _that_ doesn't work, then I doubt anything will.

    Wait, you don’t draw out your idea before you start? It’s all just kinda how it goes as your doing it? Well that seems extremely inefficient. No wonder your frustrated. Btw, the music parts were waaay better than just sounds of you cutting styrofoam and random bits of a podcast that don’t relate to anything.

    Looking great so far. Perhaps you could use common paper staples to hold the silicon LED strips in place instead of the heavy wire hooks as they are thinner and less noticeable? You would still have to install them by hand after reshaping them. Looking forward to Part 2

    Backlit signs need a diffuse light to work. My recommendation is a bright LED in the centre, then thin white paper to diffuse the light, then apply your acetate prints.
