    This is the very first time, I see a S90/V90 with a manual gearbox :O
    Trust me, I watched dozens of videos of these models, but again, Autogefuhl brought something new to me:)
    this car is just gorgeous!!!!
    btw, bowers and wilkins sound system on board, but manual gearbox what a spec :)

    I really appreciate your review. It's clear, detailed, and gives a deep overview of the car. In addition, this is my dream car. I know it can sound strange since I'm 20 y/o, but I really appreciate big estates with a lot of room, quality interiors, and that offer high standards of comfort. Moreover, this one has a manual gearbox and is offered at a quite reasonable price. Best in class!

    A really great review. I've been hoping you'd do reviews without all the extras and high specifications, like air suspension, so buyers can get an idea of what the more normal car is like, that we'd buy. Do more, please!

    I don't understand how car manufacturers see the manual transmission as a budget thing. I'd love to have a T5/T6 AWD with a manual option, i just don't like automatics and i think there are many people like me. I like as much control as possible of the driving and it's really satisfying to shift a manual.

    • @banaana1234
      @banaana1234 5 років тому

      Trust me, there is not a lot of people that want manual transmission on such a big, comfortable and expensive car. Or rather, trust the manufacturer, as they would happily make those cars if there was a market for them.

  • @alxactly
    @alxactly 6 років тому +3

    thank you for doing 'normal' cars too Thomas. As a company driver, i have limited budget and often via leasing the cheapest are entry level BMW3 or A4 series.

    • @autogefuehl
      @autogefuehl  6 років тому

      yeah we're trying to push that, although it is very hard. It is rare that we can get low spec cars from manufacturers, but trying to use all chances

  • @toneranger
    @toneranger 4 роки тому +1

    Great reviews Thomas. Is that a CD player under the armrest Where the USBs are? My V70 which this replaces has 40/20/40 split rear seats, the V90 doesn't, that makes no sense. The V70 is shorter but the boot is vertical and so it's bigger than this.
    Skoda deserves a big thank you, because their Superb really made all car makers lengthen the rear leg space in their cars, just look at an 05 V70 and the first Opel Insignia, how tight they were in the back, Skoda made them all up their game.
    Cheers Thomas!

    And what about the HUD? I've seen this car had it, but very hard to find a video where it is shown in operation.

    I'm surprised there was so much talk about the lack of rear air suspension, yet no mention of what it is really good for - self leveling with varying cargo loads. With this kind of "estate car" you can load it up with a lot of cargo, so the air suspension should maintain the ride height and proper vehicle attitude and avoid pointing the headlights to the sky. ;) I also have to wonder if the GVWR or cargo capacity is specified differently with and without the air suspension.

  • @Colin623

    Excellent video, great looking estate, the colour is gorgeous , looks great, I believe the reason that air suspension is available on the rear only, is down to the front end design, apparently not enough room for the units to fit under the bonnet !! may be because it is so low slung compared to say a XC90/XC60 where air suspension is available on all four wheels where the extra height at the front wings allow the air units to be fitted !!

    Pleasing review as always but still I wish the reviews would be more quantitative so that we could have a direct comparison: noise measurements with same device (it is difficult to measure and judge noise with an absolute scale, it can be subjective due to different frequencies/tones, personal perception etc); suspension/ride quality - cell phone with G-loads measurements when driving over the same bumps would give an idea :)

    Hi Thomas, thank you again for an interesting and practical review. May I add an item for the premium segment?
    Volvo is a timeless brand with a reputation for holding value. Outside the premium German brands, that is rare.
    So, for a private buyer, I agree that he/she should choose the version and options carefully.
    But, if you go too low (manual box, no extras ...) would you actually be able to sell the car ?
    I believe that too many options are both too expensive to lease (business) and uneconomical at resale (private). But what about not enough ?

    • @autogefuehl
      @autogefuehl  6 років тому

      thanks! there is depreciation for the whole vehicle, so if you have a more expensive one, it will also drop down in the value harsher.

    Why are car touch screens so unresponsive, can a £40k car not stretch to a snapdragon 835 like a £500 phone has?

    • @Gripengamer

      So basically, the main OS that infotainment systems use is Android. Android is open source and free, which makes it optimal for car makers. However the android OS is not as optimized as if a company that developed theyre own features with Linux or like IOS products.

    • @KUDO1973
      @KUDO1973 6 років тому

      OK, I have my suspicion that on your market the name of the brand starts with the letter "A", although the letter "M" brand is also a strong contender. :) Just revisited that review. Cheers.

    • @autogefuehl
      @autogefuehl  6 років тому +1

      well I have driven all those and they are all good cars. If I could get all at the very same price, I'd probably go with the Mercedes as they offer the most animal skin alternatives. However the 5-Series was most pleasing to me driving-wise. So maybe I could end up with a M Sport package with fabric/alcantara seats and the 5-Series. However if there is a base model available for seriously more discount than some of the others, I wouldnt hesitate for that one either

    I started to watch Thomas and the review of this V90 but as soon as I saw it was a "diesel" motor, I had to stop. Sadly, "we" in the states are not able to get this version of the V90. I for one am not that thrilled with the gas powertrain of the U.S. spec V90. It simply does not have the power to motivate such a big car! Yes it does move it as far as practicality is concerned, but not enough for my concerns.

    Need manual gearbox to stop young thieves.
    And why do people compare Volvos to BMW, Audi and Mercedes? They are more in the same class as VW, Opel, Renault, Skoda.

    Hi Thomas. Volvo once agains shows no respect for animal welfare and the environment with the XC40. No choice for non-animal skin upholstery in US market. Pathetic.

      I agree. In Germany, only the Kinetic trim level base offers fabric, alternativ with half animal skin in the R-Design. And Volvo proclaims to be very sustainable brand etc. And Thomas Ingenlath head designer himself already said there is a future beyond leather. I am just not sure when this shall be for Volvo ?!

      Well if your THAT hung up on the environment,why are you contemplating cars at all??Animal skins are the end product of the meat industry,so by using hides they are making sure they make full use of the animal,which is something mankind has done since the beginning of time.People clearly like leather seats etc,it's called choice.There are plenty of manufacturers who will can provide your need.

      People object to use of animal skins for many reasons in addition to environmental damage. Prevention of animal cruelty is one important reason. Your juxtaposition of choice of no car at all reflects your lack of knowledge about environmental damage. Animal agriculture accounts for up to 51% of greenhouse gas emissions, all transportation less than 17%. Humans have been killing and raping each other, practicing racism and sexism since the beginning of time as well. It that your justification for continuing destructive and unnecessary practices? I am all for choice. I want Volvo to offer that choice to potential customers who choose not to harm animals and choose to minimize environmental damage. Lastly there are many cows that are bred for their skin primarily. You could benefit from more education of these topics.

      The laws regarding slaughter houses in most developed countries are strict and heavily slanted towards the welfare of the animals,if you don't know that then you shouldn't be commenting.Eating animals is not illegal,so what are you jabbering on about? Your argument regarding racism and sexism are absurd and not worth commenting on.If you don't like eating animal flesh that's your loss,dont demonize others with your ridiculous prejudices and ludicrous comparable 'arguments'.If you are talking about educating oneself,you need to remember that in north America alone,there were literally millions of bison roaming the landscape before they were nearly wiped out by man.Nature coped then,so it more than capable of the far smaller numbers now.If you are that fanatical about 'minimizing environmental damage' you shouldn't be driving at all,or at the very least lobbying to get your country moving into the 21st century by investing in public transport and ditching those ludicrous penis substitute 6 litre pick up trucks.

      coolsdon you are ignorant of the conditions in slaughter houses and the laws have minimal impact
