Thanks for the video and the wish bone method is a good method, and we do like the boat fishing, just edges beach fishing, as in winter the fish are further out, depending on where you live, and good old Billy bass saves the blank 👍 And the new intro with different caught species, nice touch 👍👍
Nice to see you out again mate the flounder are definitely not as abundant as they were but the species seem to have changed a lot over the last few years there are still flounder coming up in the river adur at shoreham not as many but still a few, there is still a few rays conger and bass coming up as well but is starting to quieten a bit I had a 4lb bass last Friday one bite one fish and the only one on the beach look forward to more videos tight lines mate stay safe
Hello Mark. Thank you for your great videos on utube. I was actually wondering if you have ever fished Southsea Beach. I was down there having a day out with my son and his wife. Noticed there were anglers on the pier. The beach looked tempting for me to return with some rods. But as I live in South Wales I was tempting to return with my tackle one day. Best wishes to you, your family and all of your subscribers.
Hello Richard, I fish Eastney regularly through the winter which is a little further along from Southsea. The whole area can produce some nice fish but it can be hard work sometimes. Take care. 🎣
Another good vid thanks Mark. I've caught more flounders up where me boats moored by Cobden Bridge but that was back October time. Nice and peaceful at chessil had some good bass there in the summer. Stay safe see ya soon.
Really enjoyable watch as always like your self I was out chasing the elusive flounders at shore road Hythe with not even a nibble but good to get out for a while .
Another Win. Day out,Fresh air, Kingfisher, Swans and a Fish. Good to hear that you clear the areas that you fish (Plastic/rubbish), if we all do that,we can make a big difference. Many hands make light work. 👍👐👐👐👐👐👐👐👍
As he gets older, will probably change and will appreciate the opportunity. We are lucky to live by the coast, hopefully you can look forward to some quality time together. 👍
You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink. Eventually everything gets thirsty. Eventually it will lead to "Morgan" not sure about Dr Pepper, sorry Diet Dr Pepper. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Everthing comes to those that wait. You have Patience, you're an Angler. You will win in the end.👍
another belting video,it seems only ultima do not like that knot every other line i tried works spot on,i made the same trident pulley rig you made,no beads and im that impressed im going to order another bundle from trident they are superb for pulley rigs, not tried any other rigs,i bought some gemini splash down for the first time and trying to get one apart it fell to bits so that went in the bin and the others i made some pulleys but i prefer the tridents, keep up the good work and most of all keep safe
Great vid again Fished there last maybe 11 years ago, just two flounder's...there exceptional rare now such a shame..would love to commission a enquiry to where they have gone since say 2012 in Southampton 2000 in Pompey harbours. Did manage a 1lb 2 flounder in December at Weston..hard fishing....moving bait constantly may of helped me. As chuffed with that flounder as much as the double figure smutts in the summer months far easier to catch!! ...not as much fun but a big achievement now...crazy I know.
A great video Mark. I agree with Alan Evans, twitch it back every couple of minutes. OK we can't stop seals eating flounders but I think the humble flounder should have protected status. I believe that so many have ended up as pot baits. They can be great fun to catch. I can remember them (over 50 years ago) pulling the rods off the rod stands fishing Pennington wall and Hurst point.
@@seaangling So true. Somes of my best sessions have been blanks. Fresh air, meeting people, friends and strangers, scenery, escaping the crap of life, mental relaxation. When we go fishing and don't catch, we all gain something, so guess there are really no blank sessions. IMO. 😊😊😷

Great video again Mark, shame you didn't catch the flounder. One thing I am wondering is where do you park? I am local as well, and would love to try there some time. Had a look on Google Maps, but can't see any parking? Anyway, keep up the good work, love your presentation style and having come back to fishing last year, I have found your channel immensely informative, and more importantly, enjoyable.
Sorry for the slow response, I park at the end of Quayside Road and walk along the muddy footpath along the shore. When the tide is down it is easier to walk on the beach shingle.
Great vid mate.... Interesting to watch how you fish Southampton Water and compare to how I do it.... Oct Nov always used to be the time to target flounder, however over the last 10 years I've found January and Feb to be more productive.... You also complained your worms were too small yet I've always found the smaller the better throuout that stretch.... Never tried wishbone rig... Either a 2 hook flapper or a single hook running ledger.... Fish with carp rods and leads of either 2 or 3 oz.... Not saying either of our ways are wrong, just interesting to see how our approach compares
I like the wishbone as the 2 baits lay one after the other and my weights were a little heavy. Smaller watch leads might have been better. The ragworm were well past it and very poor. I agree the smaller “maddies” fish better and are very lively.
Many moons ago there was an article in one of the flyfishing comics that used the Berkley line testing jig. The knot that came out best was the Uni/Grinner knot which is the same knot as the 3 turns+ 3 turns/Sandman, call it what you will, but without the first three turns as they only twist out up the line through the top of the knot anyway. What did come out of it was that for hooks smaller than 'size 14' a 2 turn uni was stronger than a 3 turn. Only by 2/3% but hey. I'm thinking with hooks larger than size 1 there 'May' be benefit in add a 4th turn. I think there is an optimum line diameter to hook wire diameter. They didn't check in the fluff chucking mag article on larger hook sizes as they were talking UK trout size hooks, but I see no reason why there wouldn't be an upper limit where 3 turns may slip. Just a thought.
Hi Rick, interesting thoughts and I think a lot of this will depend on exactly what components are used together. I try to stick to what I know and have proven myself but I do like to experiment. If in any doubt though I run back to what I know and trust. There are so many variables and so much choice I think experimentation and thinking through the results can only be a good thing. If I show something I hope to cut down that process for those that have limited time or even need to keep a closer eye on cost. The thing I love most about the channel is feedback like yours that give an informed and alternative view. 👍🏻

For anglers it is usually the chase for what is difficult that switches us on. If it is too easy it gets boring. Flounder are proving to be difficult.
