    I was born in chandlers ford in May 1939. I’m fascinated still by the history of this region. I went to school in Winchester until 1947. I remember the last years of the war quite clearly. I live in Johannesburg South Africa now in a retirement village. Best wishes to all us ‘amshire hogs! Enjoy Graham Miller

    Good little video.
    I lived in Northam, from 1982 - 1987, right next door to the tvs studios.
    I can assure you all right now, that area was far from prestigious!
    It was the roughest area, almost a ghetto really.
    There were heroin addicts living along our street and our immediate next door neighbours teenage son, burgled our house at least five times.
    I kid you not.
    I was even in the house, one day alone, just 11 years old.
    I'd only gotten out of the bath, when that young man, hopped over our garden wall and came straight in our back door (as my Mum kept the door open for the animals) and I watched in horror at him, whilst looking over the banister from upstairs, as he went into our lounge and stole my Mum’s purse and just hopped back over the garden wall.
    Monsters.
    They were so evil actually, that the revolting young man, even had the brass neck to steal my Mum’s favourite denim stonewashed jacket, which had fleece inside and he gave it to his lunatic sister, who was older than him and I saw her wearing it!!!!!! whilst pushing her poor child in a pushchair.
    I was only about 12 and I was so furious, you cannot imagine, I felt sickened seeing her wear it, but unfortunately didn't do anything, because she was crazy and wouldn't of thought twice to have beaten me up over it.
    However, I should have said something in hindsight and if I came across her now, she wouldn't be standing.
    Actually I wouldn't give that wicked woman the satisfaction, I'd just rebuke her in the name of Jesus Christ Yeshua Hamashiach, Amen and that would be more of enough to floor her.
    Alleluia!!
    Needless to say, it wasn't prestigious and my goodness, there's more stories I could tell you about that place, but some other time maybe.

      For if he doesn't repent, nor his sister, them both and the rest of their family, will be heading straight to the lake of fire and that's for eternity.
      Does he want to spend eternity in hell?
      Writhing in agony?
      No, didn't think so.
      So, if anyone knows who that is, tell him to repent wholly of his sins.
      Because all shall face the Judgement Seat of Christ.

      I myself, when I was a teenager, was wretched.
      I myself was full of sin and wickedness.
      Although I sought the Lord and prayed earnestly for my salvation.
      I do forgive.
      Because if I don't forgive, then why should my sins be forgiven?
      He who is without sin, casteth the first stone.
      So therefore I forgive.

      I can assure you all right now, that area was far from prestigious!
      It was the roughest area, almost a ghetto really.
      There were heroin addicts living along our street and our immediate next door neighbours teenage son, Tony Williams, burgled our house at least five times.
      I kid you not.
      I was even in the house, one day alone, just 11 years old.
      I'd only gotten out of the bath, when that git Tony Williams, hopped over our garden wall and came straight in our back door (as my Mum kept the door open for the animals) and I watched in horror at him, whilst looking over the banister from upstairs, as he went into our lounge and stole my Mum’s purse and just hopped back over the garden wall.

      I was then, only about gosh, 12 and I was so furious, you cannot imagine, I felt sickened seeing her wear it, but unfortunately didn't do anything, because she was crazy and wouldn't of thought twice to have beaten me up over it.

    There are 5 bridges over the Itchen

    • @laureenbrown3925
      @laureenbrown3925 6 років тому +1

      probably 6 if I think you are including the fresh side at the Swan pub, the old and new bridges, the old one is no longer part of the road, but I believe you can still walk over it.

  • @richiesquest3283
    @richiesquest3283 5 років тому +3

    The Itchen bridge was promised by the local authority to be toll free once paid for .
    There is a virtual copy of this bridge at Bideford which is toll free..

      The heart was there but the pockets made the most noise. Southampton City Council has in recent decades, been blinded by money and nought else

  • @MrKinger1

    The kitchen bridge has easily paid for itself now .but it is now not attended by people in the booths and you just drop your money in machines just agreed by southampton council 🤬🤬🤬

    • @climbingthemountain26.
      @climbingthemountain26. 3 роки тому

      The reason the toll booths continue, is because people just accept it and do nothing about it.
      It's like taxes.
      People accept it.
