29:22 I remember finding your channel when you placed some sort of ad for your channel that appeared under an AVGN video. So yeah, doing that definitely worked because I have been subbed and continue to watch your content ever since!
20:12 I love how whoever wrote the copy for this ad clearly did not know much about wrestling, calling the cage match a "special wire cage"...as opposed to you know, a steel cage match. Edit: 21:13 I know a SNESDrunk reference when I hear one and so I tip my hat to you, good sir.
Yeah... I think you are right. They probably made him green because, well they didn't have a single black dude ( maybe The Great Panther was not fake tanned???) and well....
I always thought he was based off The Missing Link, but the fork stab is very Abdullah. Missing Link wore green makeup though and his hair kinda resembled the head fins.
Welcome back. I played Microleague Wrestling back when I was a kid on c64. Had no idea what was going on, and the load times were abysmal. I was a huge wwf fan at the time and impressed by the digitized graphics so I managed to have some fun with it.
Oh, I'm so happy. When you said there would be an announcement at the end, I thought you were gonna call it quits. Looking forward to the next 10 years of FNA!
Amazing content as always, I’ve been around since 2020 when we were all in quarantine. This kept me sane. Glad you keep making videos when you can even though you don’t have much time to I still rewatch all of your other videos and they are still just as awesome. Happy new year 🎊
Just finished setting up the scaffolding for production one. Gonna lose so much money now that Netflix took over. Well off to run video cables happy new year
I loooooooove your videos! It’s always so cool when a new one hits. I get all excited like when ya buy a game and read the manual and the box on the way home. I get to listen on my way home from work.
Happy new year dude! I still use a winner is you when commenting on sports card rippers who pull a good card. Wasn’t a nutter a headlock? I played micro league wrestling. It was fun the first couple of times. Fun to see savage or wonderful win the title. They saved a bit of memory bc orndorff used real American after turning on hogan for failing to take his phone calls. I swear hogan was a heel
Every FNA video is a treat, especially when it involves pro-wrestling! Never thought I'd see that here considering your love of, like, adventure games and stuff - that's gotta be the exact opposite of wrestling titles, lol. I loved seeing these! As far as old school wrestling games go, I was kind of expecting just stuff like.... I dunno, Ring King (I know it's a boxing game, but it's super old and close enough and that's all I had in my brain before starting watching) and that just sounded not cool. So color me pleasantly surprised by some of the stuff you found! I know 16-bit era stuff already, and was happy to see games like Wrestlefest, Wrestlemania the Arcade Game and Slam Masters get covered, but really, it was all the 8-bit stuff that was fun to learn about. Especially titles like Fighting Spirit: Toukon Club and Tecmo's World Wrestling - those were really fascinating looking! Happy Holidays, FNA and congrats on your UA-cam 10-year anniversary and your kids heading to kindergarten relatively soon already. Nice to hear you're hoping to ramp up your production cadence later, but know that however often you manage to get out a video, we know it'll be good
We should thank YOU for creating these little gems of episodes ! Even this one was a good one, though wrestling is kind of unknown in my parts of Europe. I did play Pro Wrestling on the NES to death with my friends as a kid.
I actually love Wrestlemania the Arcade Game and its sequel. I think if you go into them knowing they aren't wrestling games but rather gonzo fighting games with a wrestling setting you can have more fun with them.
Good video. My only gripe is the omission of Mat Mania / Exciting Hour. I know there are simply too many games to cover everything but I feel like leaving out Mat Mania is almost like leaving out Led Zeppelin from a video about the origins of hard rock. The game’s grapple system and basic gameplay was the template for many of the games in this video.
Great video! Did I miss something or no Mat Mania by Technos/Taito for the arcade?? I'll have to rewatch it just in case I missed it. Another fun wrestling game is 3 Count Bout for the Neo Geo which resembles Saturday Night Slam Masters.
Ah dude! Pro Wrestling? Man, I used to spend hours playing that game! I wasn't very good with most of the characters, but I would win like crazy with the...lizard monster...guy? The one that would chomp on the opponents head. Yeah, I was good with him.
Tecmo World Wrestling is severely underrated and forgotten. It's the best wrestling title on the NES and extremely deep. My brother and I had some insane grudge matches on that game back in the day. BTW, you forgot WWF Wrestling Challenge for the NES. That was the best WWF wrestling title on the NES. I mean, it was basic as hell but each guy had a finisher and it had a Survivor Series, which was a cool gimmick at the time.
WrestleMania the arcade game did sort of have "fatalities" until WWF said NO and they had to remove them. The Undertaker's is still in the code, there have been people who enabled it. He just kinda knocks you into a casket, they weren't gory or anything but they were there at one point.
What!? No "WWF Wrestlmania Challenge on NES!?! That was my all-time FAVORITE WWF wrestling game as a kid! Unless.....you haven't covered it yet. I'm only at 16:57 so far. 🤷♂️
Very good list, especially LOVED seeing "Saturday Night Slam Masters!" LOVED THAT GAME!! And I even got good enough to pull off Titain Tim's special moves! 😁😎 Missed a couple of great SNES gems, WWF Royal Rumble, and Monday Night RAW. It's still a great list for some of us who grew up watching WWF through the mid to late 80s! 🤘👍✌️
It was tough to do a wrestling games video without it being 3 hours long since there are so many... definitely will do a sequel video somewhere down the road!
Hey! No shade on Doink there! At least the heel Matt Borne version which was a great character. I will allow shade on him turning face and getting a mini me in Dink though.
I remember being so disappointed after renting WWF Wrestlemania (not Challenge) for NES. The characters could only punch and kick. You couldn’t even do wrestling moves.
Great clips! I never realized how many tropes about leaving and coming back there are! I think I recognized mostly all of them, except not sure what the Michael Richards one is from about the "dirty floor"
I personally love wrestlemania the arcade game. Its goofy & the special moves are cool. I know its not a true wrestling game, but thats part of the charm for me. Undertaker is always my go to since hes been my favorite wrestler since he debuted. Next would be Doink(for the game), the moves are cool & it probably doesn't help im big into MK
Excellent work-thank you for the ending montage. And you dont owe anyone anything, you post when you can and we all will just be happy with the free entertainment 👊 FNA remains undefeated!
hehe... so it's already started a bit. Their attention spans and comprehension still aren't totally dialed in, but about six months ago I started helping them cut their teeth with some Atari 2600. I figured it was simple enough, a joystick and a single button, they could wrap their brains around it somewhat. ... the challenge was finding a game that didn't obliterate them within the first 10 seconds so they wouldn't get frustrated and quit. They really enjoy Combat because there's some different modes and they can kinda freeplay and control their tanks or planes or whatever. After they got more comfortable with that, we started playing some NES. Oddly enough, Top Gun was a fun one for them because the first mission is just a simple training mission and they love using the NES Advantage with it. And we eventually graduated to Turtles III. Luke is definitely my gamer of the two ... Noah enjoys it but gets to a point where he just wants to hang back and watch. Luke and I teamed up and made it to Shredder and he was soooooooooo excited.
@@FridayNightArcadeSweet!! And yeah, beat ‘em ups are great with little ones since you can play protector and they have simple controls. We’ve been playing shredder’s revenge (switch) based on YOUR review believe it or not
I was surprised not to see Mat Mania covered in the video. It was a 1985 game and was a great looking and even better playing coin op. Bayside Tavern, Fish Creek, Door County, WI not only had killer cheese curds, but it had Mat Mania and kids could hang around the bar and play it as long as an adult was with them ( and probably getting buzzed, if not wasted) It seems there was some kind of connection with Pro Wrestling for the NES... Certainly Pro Wrestling did an awesome job of "porting" it on the NES. Lack of Submissions? If you were a kid who watched wrestling.. come on.. aside from maybe the Camel Clutch... Submission holds were nothing more than a rumor of an oddity in Pro Wrestling! I never really got into any of the licenced versions. Professional Wrestling had lost its shine with me by age 11... So beat 'em ups were my focus... APW that is ( after Pro Wrestling that is)... That was clearly a top 20 NES game of all time... Top black lable game. The river city ransom like game you showed and Tecmo Super wrestling... Too bad I missed those a bit later on!
Jim Ross knew about developer "TRY", he was always asking "What's TRY up to?", and I always assumed he was talking about the obscure NES Pro Wrestling developer, and in no way trying a new nickname for Triple H, and I, in no way, stole this joke from an OSW episode reference ~!
Wow! Raw is going to Netflix?! Huh,...I had no idea, that's... different. I don't really follow WWE like I used to years ago, so no real big surprise I didn't know about that. Interesting though. Makes me think though,...how hard up for viewership is Netflix that they went and bought the rights to have WWE in their library? Damn.
Great ti see a new episode. but you missed Wrestlemania Challenge. It was released in 1990 for the NES between Wrestlemania and Steel Cage Challenge. It was still pretty rudimentary, but had an isometric view and besides having a health bar it would play the two wrestlers music during the match. ooh, three Friday Night Arcades in a single year
He doesn't want to overwork himself .
What a montage at the end!!! It could be a video all on its own! Great tribute to the wrestling genre of video games!
We missed you dude, glad to see you back. Greetings from the netherlands happy new year
🙏
Love this channel. Been watching for about 4-5 years and i really enjoy your content.

Dude I love your channel, and as Father of one, I completely understand
The Amazon is actually based off of Abudullahthe Butcher. The fork stab is a dead give away
The more you know
Yeah... I think you are right. They probably made him green because, well they didn't have a single black dude ( maybe The Great Panther was not fake tanned???) and well....

YOU'RE BACK! YEAH!
Man so glad to see a new video! I missed them!
Thanks for these videos man. Gets me in a good headspace
30:21 Love the MST3K Space Mutiny reference!
Awesome stuff, welcome back dude
Tag Team Wrestling on NES is not great but I'll always be grateful that it exists since it was the inspiration for Strong Bad.
The system...... Is down
It's good that you're back to making content. Can't wait for more.
@FridayNightArcade
Welcome back Aaron! Good episode!
Welcome back! I’m looking forward to your next video!
Would have liked to see Mat Mania in here. That was my favorite old school wrestling game. Way ahead of it's time.
It's funny, I forget I'm subscribed to Friday Night Arcade. Then a video pops up and it's such a nice surprise.
Happy New Year, and thanks for providing a fun place to reminisce.
Just finished setting up the scaffolding for production one. Gonna lose so much money now that Netflix took over. Well off to run video cables happy new year
Comment #1 of 2.
I am glad you are still dropping videos !!! Happy New Year!
I loooooooove your videos! It’s always so cool when a new one hits. I get all excited like when ya buy a game and read the manual and the box on the way home. I get to listen on my way home from work.
There was also WWF WrestleMania Challenge on the NES between WWF Wrestlemania, (89) and Steel Cage Challenge (92)
This ending is epic! Glad you're back
Happy new year dude! I still use a winner is you when commenting on sports card rippers who pull a good card.
Wasn’t a nutter a headlock?

I’m a huge fan of this channel. Too bad it’s not more frequent. I’d love to see more of those classic EGA/VGA computer games too!!!

25:00 ...Look at that full rotation! Now, _that_ is impressive!
We should thank YOU for creating these little gems of episodes ! Even this one was a good one, though wrestling is kind of unknown in my parts of Europe. I did play Pro Wrestling on the NES to death with my friends as a kid.
Great Video. Really enjoyed it.
Saturday Night Slammasters was very in depth. I don't think you really gave it a chance.
Yeah, but the thing is, SNSM was really a 2D fighting game that took place in a wrestling ring, if ya think about it.
It's fun! I think it was just more fun as a multiplayer than as a single player game...
I remember when Doink faced Bret on PPV.
Also remember when Doink ambushed Kona Crush with a plaster cast arm.
Good times.
WWF WrestleMania: The Arcade Game is a top-notch legend and truly a masterpiece...
"Tonights matchup! Bam Bam Bigelow versus, Bam Bam Bigelow, versus DOINK THE CLOWN!, versus Bam Bam Bigelow."
😂
Finally!!’! Great video as always.
Kicking off the new year with a new FNA video!
I love these old WWF arcade games. I would play them any time I saw them
Good review. Very informative!
Love your videos. Takes me back to the old days. I remember playing Pro Wrestling on the NES and thinking. WOW. Will it ever get better. And. It did.
Whoa! Are you back?? I missed this channel
I actually love Wrestlemania the Arcade Game and its sequel. I think if you go into them knowing they aren't wrestling games but rather gonzo fighting games with a wrestling setting you can have more fun with them.
Awesome surprise to see an upload from you this New Years Eve brother!
Great stuff, yet again! Thank you. I find joy watching your videos.
Awesome video. Nice work. 💯💯

Funny. WWF Wrestlemania for the NES looks like an 8-bit remaster of Title Match Pro Wrestling on the Atari 2600.
I never noticed the Amazon using a fork with blood.
Ah dude! Pro Wrestling? Man, I used to spend hours playing that game! I wasn't very good with most of the characters, but I would win like crazy with the...lizard monster...guy? The one that would chomp on the opponents head. Yeah, I was good with him.
I didn't realize your family got expanded! 😊 Congratulations! ❤🎉 No wonder you haven't had time to publish new content. 😅
You're amazing! And don't worry about the rate of videos, my youngest is finally potty trained, so I know exactly what it's like! 😂
Congrats on the potty training - such a game changer!
@FridayNightArcade Thanks! Congrats on the little ones finally going to Kindergarten!
Superstars was rthe first Wrestling game I played when I was five and one of the main reasons The Ultimate Warrior is my favorite wrestler of the era.
Holy crap! New Friday Night Aecade video.
WWF Wrestlmania Challenge was pretty decent...way better than all the other WWF games on the NES.
Life happens. I still haven't played the Shadowgate sequel yet.
WrestleMania the arcade game did sort of have "fatalities" until WWF said NO and they had to remove them. The Undertaker's is still in the code, there have been people who enabled it. He just kinda knocks you into a casket, they weren't gory or anything but they were there at one point.

Happy New Year!
You are the Chris Berman of video game commentators.
Commenting here got me on the actual retro Pro-Wrestling Algorithm.... Gee Thanks FNArcade!😂😂
bahahaha now you can binge watch a dozen vids about WCW Backstage Assault and ECW Anarchy Rulz
In the NES version of Tag Team wrestling, wasn't the "heel" team known as "The Strong Bads"?
I remember being so disappointed after renting WWF Wrestlemania (not Challenge) for NES. The characters could only punch and kick. You couldn’t even do wrestling moves.
Yes!! A good new year indeed!
What a surprise seeing you coming back just in time for the last day of the year! 👾
Happy new Year ! So happy to see you back
🙏
Great clips! I never realized how many tropes about leaving and coming back there are! I think I recognized mostly all of them, except not sure what the Michael Richards one is from about the "dirty floor"

Excellent work-thank you for the ending montage. And you dont owe anyone anything, you post when you can and we all will just be happy with the free entertainment 👊

Thank you for the kind words
another year or two you can play games with the twins and then the real fun starts. my daughter and i have been going through pokemon

IIRC the wwe remake of wrestlefest had a discovered demo or whatever of it for 360 that was/is playable still
Boo yah baby! Way to finish the year strong.
Thanks for the video! Great way to end 2024.
New format? Neat.
Tag team ref must be the same ref in mat mania..😊
Ooh I get to be the 400th like. Awesome vid, still wishing we could get a port of Wrestlefest😭.
If you were doing better than your opponent (or made an unsuccessful pin attempt) it would play your music (or vice versa.) I still have my working cooy of Tecmo World Wrestling...EASILY the best wrestling game on the NES
Left out a few like intellivision and Sega Master system
Pro-Wrestling was the best game ever.
Pro wrestling is still a very fun easy game to pick up and play. That M.U.S.C.L.E. Wrestling game was such crap. I was into those toys when i was a kid and asked for it for Christmas
I agree about the WWE arcade game so stupid and difficult.temco wrestling is my fav.
Still supporting you but miss the videos
Love seeing you here! Hope all’s well with you
What? No Natsume Championship Wrestling? That was a personal favorite of mine on the SNES. Never liked the LGN/Acclaim WWF titles, and the WCW Superbrawl just didn't feel intuitive, or fun.
Good to see you, brother!
Happy New Year! Your death was greatly exaggerated.
Saturday mid day arcade :)
My guy, it's Tuesday 😂
@my brain isn’t working today I guess
We had to write the day on the fridge so we wouldn't forget when the trash needs to go to the curb lol... The holidays throws everything off
Nintendo not doing anything with the characters from Pro Wrestling has always disappointed me.
