Hi Wade. Your videos are both enlightening and transparent. As candlemakers new and old, we thank you for your service. Truly, some amazing insights, tips and ideas in this video. Wade thank you for such an informative video. May I ask where you get your shelves? Love the set-up and the last show I had recently I also did the U set up and the sale of buy 3 get 1 free! GREAT ideas for me, they worked wonderfully!! Thanks for sharing your wisdom!!
Hi Chelle. Honestly I can't recall exactly what they were called or where I bought them. It's been several years. But nothing fancy about them. They don't collapse or anything. Basically just basic metal and wood shelves. Actually I'm pretty sure it was these. :) amzn.to/3hMHwoa
I saw that your candles were stored upside down in the boxes. Is that a recommendation or just made it easier to apply your warning decals? And where do you purchase your colored containers? Thanks Wade! Love the channel!
Its a myth, I have learned, 12 hours is enough. i have a 20 year old candle that looks & smells like the same, as when it was gifted to me, 20 odd years ago & its not a small candle.
During helps us candle me makers ensure we treat the products for proper wicking and performance weeks and months later. Doesn't really mean they dont work before that. At least never in my experience. I do tell customers if they are freshly made and that they may be a bit stronger if they wait a few days. That's usually good enough. :) great question
I loved the 6 button you had on your POS in order to speed up the buying process. I also use crafty base and my question is when the sales show up in crafty base. How did you break down the inventory that was sold so that your inventory count is accurate?
I do not import square sales in CB manually. It just ads more of a mess and extra work. I enter one "show receipt" into Craftybase when the show is over. And the manual iunventory I took before the show and then again after tells me what to put into CB as what sold. :) So much easier!
Wade, you know how retailers just scan the code on the product? Can't we do the same thing? It can print out a receipt for the customer fast and integrate with the retailer's inventory system. I have no idea of how we might be able to do the same thing on a smaller basis. Do you know of any systems we might be able to access?
Yes you can but you'd need to barcode them or something which I didn't have time and I would have them different from one event compared to online store for example. So just never something I've done to this point
Hi Wade, its that dam English bloke again. Hope you are having a good day and getting on with your new premises. On this video you have some dark I assume they are jars not pottery that have a candle called Wilderness in them. Could you say where you got them from. Not seen anything like them in the UK. I better get back to the video"Candle Making With Gorgeous New Tins + 3 Scents & Labels", I spend more time listening to you than my girlfriend. Have a great day.
Thank you so much for all your super informative videos! I have a question: I've heard that soy candles need to cure for 10-14 days.. so how do you navigate that issue when having to resupply stock the night before selling it? Are you telling customers to wait 10 days before burning or are they really ok to sell right away if needed?
Hi, I'm from UK and starting with candles. Wondering would you be able advise which scent is best to start? Have been watching your videos since while and have learnt a lot. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos 🥰
Wade. How did you go make candles through the night and then sell them the next day without them curing. This has puzzled me so I have ask the question on making candles 101. What is the secret and can you tell me what wax you’re using? I know you use the pro blend for your wax melts but what wax are you using for your candles? And how did you make them through the night and sell them the next day very curious and want to learn how to do that. Thank you, April Stinson @ArticLights&Scents
Hey April. I'm on the road and just stopped real quick for gas. But I answered this or similar questions a few times in the other comments about curing etc. Check those out when you can. You can still sell candles even if they haven't sat a specific amount of time yet.
Thank you for responding..i always watch you channel. I started back in January and just now launched and when I saw this video it really sparked my interest. Someone on my post said Ask Wade, I’m sure he will tell you… I;lol check out the other comments… keep up the good video’s and sharing. This time next year, I’ll be right there with you sharing my stories… :)
Hey Wade, another great video, thanks for sharing. I really like those white “frosted” vessels. Do you remember where you got them? How much wax do they hold?
Hi Wade, Alex again from a wet and windy UK. Watching another video to gain more valuable information from you. I have a question on how long as a rule of thumb fragrance will remain strong in a candle. With say Xmas being the peak selling time and when you want to concentrate on getting orders out how long in advance can I make my candles. thanks Alex
It's up to you how quickly you want to get candles out. They tend to get stronger over the first couple of weeks. But don't worry about the scent fading after that.
Awesome video🎉🙏 Would there’s still a need for crafts base if you had Shopify ready and checking out with their POS? Is half profit an accurate projection on what you made from the show? How much profits you plan to be above of and keep to make a promotion worthwhile? 🙏🙏🙏
I think shows are beat for experience and exposure. Hard to quantify that in terms of value. But.... if I can profit 50% of the revenue I think that's great. Craftybase isn't a pos so not related to shoopify, etc. It's for inventory of raw materials (and finished goods), material valuation, cogs, expenses, managing recipes, etc.
Congratulations on another successful holiday market! I ordered from your website. What size are the bubble wrap pouches you use to package at this show? 6x10?
Thanks! I think they were cost too 6x8. But honestly I just had them from the jars... i didn't purchase them separately. Although i might, they were super handy
Excellent video! 2 questions: When you run out of product and make it on Friday to sell Saturday, do you ever worry about the CT/HT? Where did you get the white vessels like your Frosted Juniper candle? 🤔
Not really. I'll let customers know they will get little better with time, but it's not like they don't work or perform at all ya know. I think most of the time people put too much stock into cure time. Not saying it doesn't help but I'd ear a customer get what they want and it improve with time then for them to not get anything at all. White vessels from aztec
It will depend on a lot on your fragrance. Some throw well from day onez otherwise need longer regardless of wax. And some just are weak in general. But 6006 has a faster turnaround for sure. Even provlend 600 and provlend 400. Depends on what wax types you are willing to use
Thank you so much Wade for sharing all you share!! I have learned so much watching your videos!! We are doing our first fairs this year! :) We have been doing wholesale the past year and have done well. Just a couple questions.... there are so many events to chose from-gulp lol. How did you start in picking which ones to do? I tried looking at doing ones that have a good amount of vendors signed up, 40 plus and asked if the traffic has been good in previous years. Do you think that's the best way to do it where we are just starting out and don't know a lot about past history of events? Also is it best to do events that have just a few candle vendors? Lastly I absolutely love your matt black and matte white vessels would you mind sharing where you got those? Thank you again so much for all you do!! And a MASSIVE congrats on your show!! Loved your set up!!
I think for me I just did as many as I could when i first started. I wasn't paying too much attention to expected traffic, etc. If it was affordable I gave it a shot. If it wasn't worth it afterwards, I didn't do it next time. As you get experience, then you can start being more selective based on traffic, costs, and competition
@@BlackTieBarn Thank you so much!! We signed up for just a few for this year as a lot were full! Will see how those go and sign up earlier for next year! :)
Thank you again for a great video. You probably answered this question or I misunderstood what you said. You mentioned that you ran out of merchandise during the event and had to go home and create more product. Don’t you let your candles cure before taking them to an event? Just curious and I am still learning. Thank you in advance.
@@BlackTieBarn We produce paraffin candles. not soy wax. The scents of our candles are strong. Since we produce it in a jar with a lid, a very intense paraffin smell occurs when we close the lid. suppresses the essence. how can we solve this.

But I usually leave one uncovered as the "sample sniffer" and for people to have a better look
Love the channel!
love this video! I'm a bit confused when you said your margins on the wax melts were best but your gross profit was bad?
How do you go make extras Friday night and sell them Saturday? Do you have to tell them to let it sit for at least a week? So it can cure and all that
Its a myth, I have learned, 12 hours is enough. i have a 20 year old candle that looks & smells like the same, as when it was gifted to me, 20 odd years ago & its not a small candle.
Most cure times are false or exaggerated. Sure.... hot throw can get a bit better with time but the candle is still usable.
Do you have a video on pricing
Hey Wade pretty much binge watching your videos lol but for your labels on your small jars for example who is the company?
Lightning labels. :)
Your labels are fantastic! Where do you get them printed? Or do you do them yourself..
Hi Wade, nice content, I'm new into this and wanted to find out where was this pop up?
Lenexa, KS... suburb of Kansas City
Hi there, would you please tell me where you got your wax melt spinning display? Thank you ❤
Amazon. I think it's linked in the video description box
@@BlackTieBarn, I checked, I didn’t see it but I can check out Amazon if you can tell me what it’s called?
Hi, I'm from UK and starting with candles. Wondering would you be able advise which scent is best to start? Have been watching your videos since while and have learnt a lot. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos 🥰
Thank you so much for all the tips, great video! Question- do you have testers out for each scent?
Thanks Jaquie! Not sure what you mean though. Can you clarify. :)
Hi Paul. These were from Aztec I believe. Hold between 9.5 and 11.5 Oz of wax depending on fill
Thanks, I’ll check them out. I also wanted to let you know I ordered those wick holders from Norden and they are easy to use and work great!
Hello! Can you share where you purchased your shelves?
Yep. It's in the video description. 3rd section down under Show/Booth Equipment
@@BlackTieBarn perfect thank you so much!
@@BlackTieBarn thanks
Awesome video🎉🙏
Would there’s still a need for crafts base if you had Shopify ready and checking out with their POS?
Is half profit an accurate projection on what you made from the show?
How much profits you plan to be above of and keep to make a promotion worthwhile?
🙏🙏🙏
I think shows are beat for experience and exposure. Hard to quantify that in terms of value. But.... if I can profit 50% of the revenue I think that's great.
Craftybase isn't a pos so not related to shoopify, etc. It's for inventory of raw materials (and finished goods), material valuation, cogs, expenses, managing recipes, etc.
dont you have to wait 2 weeks fir the candle to site for the smell ?
Not really. For some waxes... yes longer helps. In most cases.... no
Congratulations on another successful holiday market! I ordered from your website. What size are the bubble wrap pouches you use to package at this show? 6x10?
Thanks! I think they were cost too 6x8. But honestly I just had them from the jars... i didn't purchase them separately. Although i might, they were super handy
Wondering with your colored candles, do you color your wax that is in the color container?
Nope, just left those natural color
@@BlackTieBarn thank you
Excellent video! 2 questions:
When you run out of product and make it on Friday to sell Saturday, do you ever worry about the CT/HT?
Where did you get the white vessels like your Frosted Juniper candle? 🤔
Not really. I'll let customers know they will get little better with time, but it's not like they don't work or perform at all ya know. I think most of the time people put too much stock into cure time. Not saying it doesn't help but I'd ear a customer get what they want and it improve with time then for them to not get anything at all. White vessels from aztec
Hi I’m wondering with wax do you suggest to throw in 24 hours? My soy 464 is way too long for turn around! Please help!
It will depend on a lot on your fragrance. Some throw well from day onez otherwise need longer regardless of wax. And some just are weak in general. But 6006 has a faster turnaround for sure. Even provlend 600 and provlend 400. Depends on what wax types you are willing to use
@@BlackTieBarn This helps a lot, I’m off to a better start, thanks to you!!
How do you prevent sink holes
Thanks for sharing at this busy time. Question: Do you Wick down when you double Wick a candle?
Yes for sure. Wick down quite a bit because your using two wicks. You'll just need to experiment and test. :)
@@BlackTieBarn Thank you.
@@BlackTieBarn Showing how to Wick down for double and triple wicked candles would be a great video idea, also.
Thank you again for a great video. You probably answered this question or I misunderstood what you said. You mentioned that you ran out of merchandise during the event and had to go home and create more product. Don’t you let your candles cure before taking them to an event? Just curious and I am still learning. Thank you in advance.
I use dye chips and the color is nowhere as vibrant as yours. What do you use?
i use a variety, candle science, natures garden, etc. But i also do a lot of experimenting mixing colors
Hey great job Wade. Did you list your shelves?
I didn't. Which shelves are you referring to?
@@BlackTieBarn the tall black ones showcasing candles. I believe they were 4 or 5 tiered. I didn’t rewatch before I replied. Sorry
I think these are the ones you are referring to: nothing special about them, but work for me. :) amzn.to/3hMHwoa
hello, we produce scented candles. When the lids of the jars with lids remain closed, a paraffin smell fills the mouth. How can we solve this?
Hi. I'm not sure what you mean. Can you clarify
@@BlackTieBarn We produce paraffin candles. not soy wax. The scents of our candles are strong. Since we produce it in a jar with a lid, a very intense paraffin smell occurs when we close the lid. suppresses the essence. how can we solve this.
