      The camera lens makes the visual appearance deceptive, especially when filmed from a distances. Those chimneys are a lot further away from the runaway than it looks. If you watch cross country skiing on TV, sometimes you see on the screen the pursuer of the front runner kind of close to him/her. An image taken from above reveals that he or she is like 100 meters behind.

    That was an amazingly flat angle of attack during the takeoff. It's amazing how much thrust can be generated from a relatively small turbine jet engine. There's a couple videos of homebuilt aircraft that used lunchbox sized jets out near the wingtip and were powerful enough to probably use just one if needed.

However, secondary to its stall speed being higher than flare speed, a certain skill was required to fly it without crashing. These doctors, dentists, etc we're good at their jobs but we're not expert pilots. Consequently, they would crash & die. Hence the nickname "twin-tailed-doctor-killer."

      @@matthewimi You should probably stop talking about airplanes. You clearly have no clue what you’re talking about. The typical Bonanza stall speed is roughly 50 kts in landing config depending on model. Short approach is typically 70-80 kts with the landing flare at about 65 kts. Weird design had nothing to do with a particular demographic purchasing, doctors were common buyers because they had the income to support the purchase and it was the fastest single engine you could buy at the time. The airframe? Just the longest running production aircraft 1947-present. You’re correct on that it requires a certain set of skills to fly, as with any airplane. About 10-12 years ago one CAD computergrapics software company published demo examples of using the Rinoceros or Rhyno programs. One such airing was about a couple of young men in Oregon who designed a single engine small business jet with that software. It looked EXACTLY like the Cirrus Vision and indeed must have been it. The remarkable claim was how little time it took to the phase when the CAD made it to "CAM".

    • @GudieveNing
      @GudieveNing 2 роки тому

      My employer used to use Rinoceros. Our designer produced some remarkable work. Yes, good CAD speeds up design to CAM because CAD, such as that from Dasault & Autodesk allows you to stress test components virtually. And I assume some aircraft design focused apps can simulate a wind tunnel, albeit you will need a very powerful workstation or supercomputer to achieve that in real time!

      Agree! I wish they would take trains and buses back to the cool "waterfall" designs of the 40s and 50s. They seemed so magnificent and regal. I know I would immediately buy a new truck if it were crafted to look like an old round top pickup from the late 50s early 60s, with all the curves and headlights mounted on the fenders, etc!

    • @GudieveNing
      @GudieveNing 2 роки тому

      @@chrismaggio7879 Agreed. My designer and I both argue that most products today are produced to cost, meet safety guidelines and lack imagination, so are fugly. The difference between the concept and recently revealed real VW Electric Camper Van an example of this. The latter boring and lacking the cute character of the 60s original and electric concept.

    What an ugly aircraft. The engine on the top, tilted at an un-natural-looking angle, cabin looks stuffed-up or ready to pop, the V tail screaming Bonanza nostalgia punctuates this oddity. I've sure heard great things about it, though. Artistically a failure IMO.

      It has a parachute! Also, if you lose the pilot and no one can fly the aircraft it has a system that you just have to press the button and it will return you to the closest available airport and land you automatically. And you just have to sit there. Hopefully the pilot recovers, but if the pilot has let's say a heart attack or something there's always a way to land the aircraft. And then again there's always the parachute.
