I loved your enthusiasm when mentioning that the Skytrak+ is coming soon. I’m excited for you and I’m looking forward to the videos featuring that unit.
To my understanding, carry distance and total distance are calculated by software algorithms based on the initial measurements (ball speed, launch angle, spin rate). It might be worthwhile to compare using the same software (e.g Awesome Golf range) to see if the discrepancies in distances are resolved. At the same time, I understand it makes sense to compare based on the included range software with each device to not assume everyone will pay more for third party software.
Totally agree, total trust in the camera based sitting next to the ball (or above). Question: Can you run 2 ball drill with radar unit like mlm? I’ve been working shot shape and easiest way I’ve found is 2 ball, or even 3 ball (hit the middle one) for contact drills. Thing is BLP doesn’t have an issue with tees in the area by the ball but obviously can’t handle multiple balls in the hitting area.
Very encouraging how close the 5 measured parameters of ballspeed, spin, launch, launch direction and side spin are. The other differences are just the result of the individual algorithm so to compare using same software would be better for carry, offline (note this is total offline for Skytrak and not carry offline) and also on Skytrak clubhead speed is not measured. Rapsodo seems to be 2 lower on ballspeed but easy to factor in as equates to about 4 meters This shows what a great option rapsodo is for an outdoor net where you have the space and Skytrak is for a garage etc. These 2 really are leading way for pm’s under £2k and really have very little difference to high end monitors. I have just ungraded my Skytrak to gc3 but find very little difference on 5 measured parameters. And gc3 obviously very similar to gold std of quad. Like the portability of gc3 but still use Skytrak indoors as like the flight model. Bang for your bang Skytrak is excellent
I’m going to test it against GC Hawk so that will be the best test. Within 1-3 mph is ok though. It was more just a statement of what I’ve consistently seen. Even trackman and quad can have the same discrepancy 😁
I would get the mlm2pro outdoor package from 24/7 golf where you would get the whole thing cheaper than a skytrak 😁 also use my code DMAX200 if you do to save more cash 💰
I was looking at the Optishot Orbit version of the SC4. Similar price to the MLM pro and R10 here in Canada but doesn’t need a subscription and only needs 5 feet behind the ball. Might be an option for me.
Are you serious 🤣 the new skytrak only has a few more data parameters on it. The OG skytrak can be picked up for the same price as the rapsodo , without the mental subscription from rapsodo
Buying an eight-year-old original Skytrak makes no sense under any circumstances. I wouldn’t accept one if it were given to me free. The new Skytrak+ is awesome, & works well with any regular golf balls as well as Sci-Core practice balls, with minimal ball flight and no space required behind the tee. I love mine. I would never buy the MLM2, which requires the use of special balls & requires more space than the Skytrak+. The R10 with Awesome Golf also works with any golf balls and with Sci-Core practice balls. I would go back to that rather than to the MLM2, if I didn’t have the Skytrak+.
I think buying a skytrak if you can get one cheap is a great option. They’re still incredibly accurate and like you’ve mentioned they don’t require the extra space that the other units do. Also they’re a camera based unit and you can use any ball you like. Plus they’re not effected by air cons or heaters etc etc so there’s actually a lot of positives for the unit even though it’s older
@thisisformyschoolstuff5317 was just going to comment the same thing. having used the MLM2 with RPT and normal balls, i have seen no noticeable difference in shot shape.

Thank you! Loads of videos coming on that in the next few weeks
For a competitive golfer, what do you recommend? One that tracks club face data too preferably.
Mlm2pro is amazing

Yes just wanted to compare the data from the software that comes standard with the units 😁 GC Hawk comparison coming soon

Not sure to be honest as I haven’t tried, I don’t think you could though

100% agree with this comment 👏

Hi David, can you please tell me what the ball to screen distance is for your setup ? Loving the videos :-). Thanks
10 feet here 😁
Don't want any monitor that requires special balls. Skytrac plus looks good but so far doesn't connect t GSPro which to me is a must. Great review.
It connects to TGC 2019 though which is incredible for the ST+ 😁 can’t wait to test that
@nbargolf I think that there is a solution to connect ST+ and MLM2PRO to GSPro now using an OCR based connector.

I've found ballspeed on mlm2pro is bang on vs quad/hawk within about 0.5mph on average 🤷♂️
I’m going to test it against GC Hawk so that will be the best test. Within 1-3 mph is ok though. It was more just a statement of what I’ve consistently seen. Even trackman and quad can have the same discrepancy 😁
Would you still choose skytrak over mlm2pro if you were primarily hitting outdoors in a net?

Will you be able to do any comparisons with driver?
Will be doing that comparison in GC Hawk

Great video full of info. Have you tried the SC4 yet?
I wish! So hard to contact them here in Australia. Nearly impossible

How does skytrak measure spin??
through the cameras as opposed to the Radar
@@davidmaxfieldgolf thanks. How do you connect the MLM2pro to the projector? Is it only iPhone/android compatible?

The new skytrak is a great improvement. It gives you all of your club data which is massive 😁
Love my skytrak
It’s fantastic

MLM2PRO only requires special falls to detect spin, it does work with other balls and there's a setting for that.
