    😂😂 awesome! Hi all, it's Mike from Nameless City Apparel here. I'm really sorry this turned into so much work! Just to say to people that when we originally did this, the idea was to see how much we could push the envelope on a limited screen count. So I designed a 6 colour job and tried to separate it using only 3. The idea was to be able to print this with the standard Underbase, flash then red and yellow wet on wet with a final hit on the Catspit letters using the white screen again. Needless to say, it was way too ambitious! But thanks to Jonathan's creativity, he has really made this work, al be it in a way you would never want to print in production. But hopefully this will inspire some of you with only 4 colour presses, like me, to really expand your ideas of what sort of work you can do. Huge thanks to Jonathan for this, this is why Catspit is the best!

      Hi Mike! Yes, we were trying to do a lot with this one for sure. No apologies necessary. We also have to consider this is plastisol ink and it seems your forte is water based and discharge. I had a customer in the shop this week that said this print looked like a water based ink print. But this is a lot of fun to play with I have to admit. I really enjoy printing it even though it's complicated. It feels more creative and artsy this way....LOL ;) I couldn't really print wet with these inks since the pick up was too much. But I'm still going to try to burn another set of screens and see if we can make it any easier to print. So I will experiment with that again. But I think the depth in this print is very cool and is a direct result of the unusual printing sequence. And Yes, I hope the video will help people get creative and max out their 2 color and 4 color presses with similar techniques. I love this video because it is a great example of of that. I'll be sending you a couple of the shirts for each set of screens I print with. I have 2 ready for you from this set of 305 screens now. I have to print the Bella freebies and then I'll come back to this. But yeah this design is very cool and everyone seems to love the end result a lot. That makes it all worth it. Thanks for watching! • @CatspitProductions
      @CatspitProductions  5 років тому +1

      Because it's too difficult to print like that really. It ended up taking about 4 minutes or so to print 1 shirt after I got into the groove. If we wanted to print this commercially however, we would probably end up adding 2 more screens to make it print easier, faster, and better. Thanks for watching! It looks to me to be the 55 LPI version. I say that because Mike and I did a few versions of film and we did do a 45 LPI set. But I think I went back to the 55 to get more dot and that is why I went on 305 mesh. Thanks for watching! Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - CatspitScreenPrintSupply.com/

      @@fadyviggo5244 Yes, you have to convert US to metric with mesh. It's a different number and sometimes letter system. In the US it's done in threads per inch and micrometers for thread diameter.

I have never seen anyone else push the squeegee away from themselves like you do. Is this just personal preference or is there "method to your madness"?. Thanks for the video.

    • @CatspitProductions
      @CatspitProductions  7 років тому +1

      Thanks! LOL... that's some old school terminology there ;) Actually, no. It's a lot of halftone with the shirt showing through. So I did the under base under the skull as light as possible. So the thickest part there is really just the white since the colors are all dot. The Catspit text is the heaviest but again since it's just letters there is enough shirt coming through to make it comfortable I think. I have a sample in the storefront people can come in and see or feel. It has not been washed yet and it's really not bad at all. I don't think it would be a sweat patch during the summer or anything like that. I did do a test wash for all the flashing and it was fine. And it did soften up. So I think it would feel fine and no, it is not the classic bullet proof plastisol due to all the halftone work and shirt coming through. Thanks for watching! I fail to see why you did the red so early. I would've thought the red after the white was fine.
    Also the yellow, not sure why that had to be done again.
    Seems like you could've done it in three, white, red, yellow.
    Or logically for some artwork light to dark works best, then white yellow, red
    Not trying to criticize, so much as understand. I guess you are seeing way more than can be seen on the video, that might explain why you're doing so much.
    🤔

    • @CatspitProductions
      @CatspitProductions  Рік тому

      If you pay attention to what I am saying in the video, you will understand this was an experimental print. The artist was from England. This design would need another 2 screens to be printed for profit. What I did here was make it work and I layered it in a very nontraditional way. But the end result was very cool. I even printed the lower text differently than the skull art. That is because of the small separation of the 2. Anyway, this was a video that showed how you can make something more than what it is if you are creative in the way you print. It's not really how we would set this up to print for profit.
