The way this game handles turn-base (all people taking actions at the same 'time') really reminds me of Frozen Synapse. And that's an excellent game. I'd recommend it to you, Arumba. It's really strategic and just fun. Plus you should always support indie developers.
Just to let everyone know, this in the changelog: arcengames.com/mediawiki/index.php?title=The_Last_Federation_Post-1.0_Release_Notes This game is in VERY active development, so balance issues may be present. Be glad the main focus of the developers is programming, otherwise these issues wouldn't be being worked on. But they are. Daily. I love the devs because of this. Community participation is a big deal, too. They make like 50% of changes based on feedback from the community, it's great, and we welcome newcomers.
Mythology Time: Sisyphus was a Greek king that was too deceitful and crafty for his own good, even managing to chain the personification of Death itself, Thanatos. For his crimes he was forced to forever roll a stone uphill in the Underworld's Fields of Punishment. He was promised that he would be freed of this punishment if he managed to get the bolder to the top of the hill. Unfortunately this is an impossible task as the closer he gets to the top it gets harder to push, until he falters and it rolls back downhill. Moral of the Story: Don't be a dick. And especially not to immortals.
Hi Arumba have you played Frozen Synapse? The stop/start gameplay kind of reminded me of it. I'll think you'll like it too because it's also high on the logic/strategy.
I Started to play this yesterday and Arumba is playing this now, nice... Because it's really hard to get into so this'll really help... IF Arumba doesn't fail.
I usually don't hit like on videos. And usually being asked to makes me much less likely to do so. However, I couldn't resist hitting like when you said it made you feel "warm and fuzzy inside." So... uh... I hope you feel warm and fuzzy.
This game looks great. It reminds me of sins of a solar empire, and i wonder if there will be a lot of micromanaging. I look forward to seeing more of this game in the future.
Ty Arumba for playing this game :D .I was thinking that you might want to try it a couple weeks ago and now my dream came true ^_^ P.S. btw you might want to give space tech to the guys with 9 sec left so you can get them to like you :D (that is ofc if you havent done it already)
Star trek birth of the federation also did simultaneous pre-planned turns. Funny with the federation bit I wonder if the game itself had any influence as opposed to just star trek in general.
This sound track sounds alot like FTL I like it and Arumba pleas pleas keep playing this I really want to see you compleat a Campaign in this game it would be Amazing
I'd hope they'd be smart enough to know they'd lose horribly. To sue on that basis they'd have to prove that Federation of Planets a specific technical term that you can't replace with anything else is unique to their franchise. It would be like Star Wars lawyers trying to copyright use of the Rebels.
Dbz Axel Or Galactic Empire. Or the descendants of Tolkien suing every other fantasy universe in existence because they have elves, orcs, dwarves, goblins and humans and Tolkien had them too.
Acutians destroyed your race in a fun way. They had no space programme because you kept destroying their ships, so they strapped rockets onto one of their moons and launched it towards your planet, destroying both.
Old comment, but they had no manned space flight, the hydrals didn't care about unmanned flights and with all the time passed they could have had ways to set the rockets without going out themselves (and thus catching the attention of the Hydrals) or if not for how the game only starts the race that "captured" you with space travel they could have sent people out while the hydrals were distracted. Or alternatively, they most likely knew how to send people out (however not all over the galaxy starting off which would be much more complicated) but just couldn't due to Hydrals destroying anyone they send out, and after they got distracted the acutians could have sent people to set the rockets after noticing a lack of Hydrals.
I manged to beat this game on normal, if you can get a trade going between the communist owls, skylaxians or whatever they are called, and the pacifist robots, it is an easy federation to form. Expanding it from there is when things get tricky, and on my first play through the owls managed to take out most of the universe. I also once managed to peacefully unite the universe as well, but that was more dumb luck than skill.
I'm looking at the solar system.. and to be honest, you got really unlucky with the rng. The races that you usualy need to ally in priority all have bad planets. Even if that's normal difficulty, that's going to be tough. Nothing impossible though. Also you'll learn to hate the acutians soon enough.
wait "let's play" :D yesssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss if i was rich and u had a donation button i will pay u 5 million even though i get 40/hour
Arumba it is very important to start facilitating trade between the races you want to ultimately live in the end
He hasn't even started playing yet...

The music reminded me of FTL :)

Yay! A combination of two things I love Arumba and Arcen Games
Mythology Time: Sisyphus was a Greek king that was too deceitful and crafty for his own good, even managing to chain the personification of Death itself, Thanatos. ya nice playthrough. Unexpected but I'm thrilled for it. I've played like 15 campaigns of this game already
Shortly after release it was very, very easy to win - that got "fixed" though. Looking forward to this series!
it would be cool if you could watch the battle after without stops

Yes i love this game and i knew Arumba is gonna play it :D
Star trek birth of the federation also did simultaneous pre-planned turns. Funny with the federation bit I wonder if the game itself had any influence as opposed to just star trek in general.
I quickly dismissed this game when it came out on Steam but you now have my interest.. Mmm on to the second video!!

I like it! Never heard of this game before, but it should definetly be fun to watch, and maybe get.
Theres an entire other part to the game which is yet to be displayed in the video
Hail Hydra.
We need more! This is much better than EU4 atm! =D
Curious as to how this game was able to use Federation of Planets without ticking off some StarTrek lawyers
maybe they haven't seen this yet
I'd hope they'd be smart enough to know they'd lose horribly. Dbz Axel oh, wow, didn't know that was a requirement.

Or Galactic Empire.

The Acutians look like something you;d see in Vectorman
