Thank you for a very well-informed documentary. However, it would have been nice if the narrator spoke some Chinese and had a more accurate pronunciation of the characters and locations.
So this is historical context, but what of the military context. Well, Ho Chi Min, communist leader of North Vietnam followed The Art Of War down to the letter and it worked out extraordinarily well for him, defeating American forces who had superior weaponry. Im interested in the actual treatise.
One of the most famous ancient tactician who never actually involved in any battle/war. In other words, a world famous table top general who is studied by so many. He was indeed a brilliant tactician who achieved his fame not fighting a single war/battle. If that is not an art of war, what is?
@@sopi713 For a such world famous figure known for his prowess as a tactician, there is no verifiable account of his actual war participation. Of course that also doesn't mean he never participated in a war/battle. History just might not be aware of it.
He involved in some big wars as military advisor because he couldn't walk so he refused to be a general. It was recorded in history books. He was framed by his classmate and was tortured in prison. His knees got cut off so he couldn't walk anymore. While finally he defeated his classmate, the general of enemy military, and had him killed during a war. While there may be debate as to whether Sun Tzu actually existed, his principles of war laid out in The Art of War are the fundamentals for warfare.
