- Today, I've travelled to Wimbledon to visit an Indian restaurant known as Bombay Delight. I thought I'd treat myself and go for a curry nominated as one of London's best so lets give it a go!
Please don't forget to like and subscribe to the channel.
Do you know of any good Indian restaurants in the UK? Please let me know!
Gary i stumbled across your channel and i am so glad i did,i have watched all your videos and each one is a great watch,i looked forward to seeing many more. Keep up the good work! 👏🏻👍🏻😁
Ah Simon, you're too kind. Thank you so much for supporting the channel. I'm so appreciative you don't understand!
Did cameraman a taste?? Hopefully YES! Food looked FANTASTIC 😊😊😊
He had a small taste when I was finished. Loved it. Thanks for watching! @donaldduncan6017 😀
Incredible. Love from India 💛 🇮🇳
Hello to India! Thanks for watching!
Robbie from Adelaide here. I found your channel very recently & I've enjoyed every episode I've seen. Your no frills approach is most welcoming as some channel are to much "hoo hah". Also, I'm glad you keep your videos to around 10-15 min or so as some channels have 35min+ videos where half of it is just meaningless chit chat which adds nothing to the content. Please stay as you are and your channel will continue to grow. Thank you for your vlogs and keep on doing what you're doing. I am now a subscriber.
Hi Robbie. Amazing that you're watching my videos from Adelaide. I highly appreciate such kind words. It was my aim to keep the videos clear and concise without overdoing it as I know time is precious and not everyone has all the time in the world to watch videos. I will not be changing from this so don't worry. Thank you so much and I hope you're well.
Well said..
Wow....my mouth was watering just looking at that food, it looked incredible, quality always shines through and this place looks quality from top to bottom and not too expensive either, I'm amazed quite frankly....the staff clearly run a tight ship here so it fully deserves the award it has, loved your review, Gary, it was perfect!
Absolute great review, the food looked great and could not be faulted. The bill was less than i thought for such a fantastic meal and service..Cheers
Thank you Shaun. Very good food at an affordable price as well. Thanks for watching!
Another superb video. Love beer with a curry 🍺
Glad you enjoyed it
I love Indian, I wish I was there, it looks amazing, another great one Gary 😊x
So good. One of my favourite cuisines. Have a great weekend x
Please let me know your favourite curry dish! 🍛

Chicken Tikka Masala, Rogan Josh, Dansak and Korma😉🙂👍❤❤❤❤❤
I’m in NYC so some of the curries are different here,so I would say that I don’t like Tikka Masala,to sweet,Korma,to creamy ,and bland,I like most vegetable curries, especially begun bharta,Chana Masala,Rogan Josh, also I like Dhal Makhani,Chana Dhal, and I like most of the Chats for starters, and of cause Nann.
Tikka Masala .
Dopiaza, Rogan Josh, or a Biryani😊
best channel of 2023 hands down, gary would you branch out on your reviews? maybe do some lawnmowers or patio furniture you seem that kind of guy
Wow, big compliment, Thank you so much. I can't imagine too many people would enjoy watching me cut grass but maybe an idea for a future channel haha. Thanks Zack!
Hi Gary, I'm one of your Australian subscribers. Great to hear from another lover of okra cooked the Indian way ! We need a Bombay Delight in the city of Parramatta Sydney. That restaurant looked like the epitome of quality. Thank you for your videos. Nice to see these little vignettes of the Old Dart. All the best !
Hello to Australia, glad you're liking the videos. I love Okra, surprised to see how many people don't like it. Hopefully you have a couple of top quality Indian restaurants in Sydney. Thanks for watching!
Really enjoying these reviews. You're an extremely watchable bloke. This channel will definitely be huge. 👍
Thank you Nick, that really means a lot to me.
I’ve never seen such vibrant colours from the dips, think Indian meals are one of my favourite, love a dhansak, you should try it gary
Love a dhansak Chris. I love all curries pretty much. Thanks for watching!
They say you eat with your eyes..... definitely can in this restaurant. Looks lovely
Beautiful food and restaurant. Thanks for watching!
Gary. Score 10/10. Nothing else to say just fantastic. You're a breath of fresh air. Keep um coming. We'll get you to 100K subscribers in no time.
Wow, thanks. I’ll be surprised if I ever get there but thanks for the kind words! Enjoy making the videos.
That looked absolutely spot on mate!!
Personally I would’ve had a bread of some description and kept the popadom sauces for mopping up!!
Favourite ruby has to be a chicken Ceylon ( quite spicy with a hint of coconut) 👍
Had Chicken Ceylon before. Very nice, I agree with you. Yes, I almost wish I ordered a naan now but I probably wouldn't have eaten it all! Food was spot on. Thanks for watching!
another great review.... you've got a good style with your presentation.....
Thank you very much, I appreciate that.
I do actually enjoy your videos a lot - so keep it up please, but your seriousness does make me chuckle a lot 😁😂
Glad you like them! Hahaha, am I too serious then? I like to think I'm rather jokey (of course I would say that).
@@GaryEats you be you my friend! ❤️
So glad your channel is growing rapidly ! Great reviews Gary!
Thank you so much Christopher. Really appreciate that!
Love this channel. Since Covid, three other India restaurants had been in situ in Wimbledon for 30 years, they were all very good. I have yet to visit this one, as it looked overly fancy and expensive. Clearly it is fancy, and authentic, but with decent prices. I will be visiting next week, and I cannot wait.
Brilliant news, David. Tell them that you saw the video if you can. Really appreciate you commenting and letting me know. Enjoy the food!
Of course , it is a ten minute walk from me in Wimbledon. There are very few Indian Restaurants in Wimbledon now, post Covid, and two in particular are awful as in not edible. Avoid@@GaryEats
Your honest reviews and the good Indian food was really nice to see. Chapeau for the cameraman too!
Got to say that that looked absolutely gorgeous Gary. So much so that ive bookmarked the location for a visit. Love a curry
I usually don't go for masala as I prefer my curries hotter but that was a truly brilliant masala. Glad you've bookmarked it for a visit!
Yet another great clip Gary, and i agree 100% with your 10.
All those dishes and beer just out side central London, amazing.
The presentation, and extra small things like the mints mean a lot.
I used to live in Surbiton just up the road until i moved up North, i wish i had know about this place then.
Your doing it right my friend those subscribers keep going up and up which proves it.
Chris.
Very small world, Chris. Not too far away! Everything was close to perfect, almost wish I'd ordered a naan to go with it but no bother!
I'm really appreciative of your kind comments, thank you. What curry do you usually go for by the way?
Thanks for the reply Gary im a Rogan Josh man when i go out, but tonight im doing a home made job.
A 3 hour slow cook piece of Lamb, making Lamb Shawarma, i so love it.
Chris.
Lovely. Love a rogan josh. Enjoy your curry tonight!@@geordiejones2
I watch many UA-camrs similar to what you do, you seem to know what you’re doing good watch sir.
I'm glad you enjoy my content. Very kind of you. Thanks for watching!
Evening Gary - just watching this makes me want a curry right now! The food looked very nice indeed and I did like the attention to detail ( cutlery in it's on serving holder/mints to cleanse the palate), its these small things that enhance the experience. I could have eaten double what u had (with the exception of the okra) and it's the first Indian restaurant I know that brews and serves it's own beer, nice touch and I'd imagine fairly profitable too.
Hi Joe. Yes, was very good. The smaller details are what gave this restaurant a 10/10. Really good stuff. Thanks for watching!
wonderful reviews - so authentic - and well narrated throughout without any gimmicks - well done !
Wow, thank you for your very kind words. Have a brilliant week!
We visited this restaurant last Sunday (24th Sept) at about 5.30pm. It was not busy but over the next 90 minutes it filled up considerably. We started with popadums, chiefly to sample the beetroot dip in the video. The dip was indeed vivid in colour and had something of a kick to it, a good opening livener. I'd have preferred a full portion of the traditionally shaped popadums but the variations were ok except for the small discs which were more like nacho chips and lacked that delicate optimum crisp. For drinks I chose the Bombay Lager, a clean crisp pilsner at £3.50 per half, and Boo selected a Blue Lagoon cocktail which I think is vodka, curacao and lemonade. Happy Hour meant two cocktails for the price of one (£9.95) They arrived in huge 620ml goldfish bowls and looked most refreshing, colourful and bright. (Go easy on them, though - they are big drinks and deceptively innocent in appearance)
We had to try the bhindi okra dish in the video as a sharing main (£9, and enough for two persons as a side) It was delicately spiced and the okra itself was tender and almost melted once in the mouth, a perfect accompaniment.
My main was the lamb biryani (£15) It arrived in a traditional handi and was roofed by a soft moist dough which when peeled back released aromas that caressed your nostrils with wonderful fragrant wafts of steam. This mini cauldron was generously filled with tender chunky cuts of meat, soft perfumed rice and onions etc, and came with a small salad and a dish of cucumber raiti and a bright wedge of lemon. To go with it I had the buttered naan, recommended for a more moist texture of bread. Reaching the bottom of the handi seemed at times an impossible but enjoyable task, so much of it there was. Enough to satisfy anyone's hunger by itself.
Boo chose the creamy, quite mild monkfish curry (£15) with fish that was soft to the touch. Fluffy pulao rice and garlic naan completed her main dish.
Upon completing our grub, we were so full that we had to forego dessert and coffee.
The bill was £66.95 (food and drinks) plus a 12.5% service charge of £8.37. Total cost £75.32. Yes, the days of a £40-£50 meal for two and a couple of quid in cash tips at a reasonably decent restaurant (pre-covid, brexit and whatever else you care to blame) are well and truly gone. But this is a restaurant with attentive staff (including the owner, who put in a personal appearance) a relaxing unrushed atmosphere and traditional music in the background at just the right volume so that you are not shouting in each other's ear in the name of conversation.
All in all I'd pay a return visit but would sacrifice the popadums and okra dish just to have a comfortable space for the very filling biryani (chicken next time, I think) Boo will probably go for another seafood main from the tantalizing menu.
I'm overjoyed to hear that you and your partner had a brilliant time at Bombay Delight. Glad you enjoyed the food and the ambience. Have a good one!
Thank you for taking the trouble to add a detailed review of your own. It was very interesting to read about your own experience. I wish I was able to get to Wimbledon to try it for myself!
Found your channel yesterday and enjoyed it very much.
I have binged watched every episode and looking forward to many more.
Very kindest regards from Tasmania.
Thank you Anne. I'm glad you're enjoying the videos. Hello to Tasmania!
Looked a very nice place without being too ultra modern. Too many Indian Restaurants are either stuck in the 80's or are these fusion type places. Food well worth the price i think. Look forward to the next vid. Thanks again.
Very good point, Simon. The interior of the restaurant was beautiful. Thanks for watching!
Another one on my list Gary looked absolutely amazing know wonder it was a ten keep them coming Gary 🎉
More to come! Thanks for subscribing and watching Dean.
Great reviews Gary. I love the way you describe food. Hope you are successful, onwards and upwards.
Thanks so much! Incredibly nice of you to say!
Love the vids Gary. As a newcomer to your reviews I love the content. No elaborate flashy camera trickery and daft music just someone reviewing what looks to be mainly great places to eat
Thank you very much! I try to be as simple and concise as possible. Glad you're enjoying it :)
Excellent review gary. Loving your channel i have no doubt your channel will blow up once people discover you delightful reviews.
Thank you so much 👍 I really honestly appreciate it and thank you for taking time out of your day to watch and comment.
That looked absolutely delicious and made me hungry seeing the food. Great restaurant!
Great restaurant and lovely food. Thanks for watching!
Nicely edited and great content again. Great reactions to the flavours and textures of the food and ambiance of the restaurant.
Great stuff, keep it coming
Thank you very much! Yes, really nice ambience as well. Thanks for watching!
Extremely good value for money! It all looked scrumptious 😋
Was delicious, will definitely be going again.
Yet! another great vlog..,looks superb, brilliant job to the chef and crew, also front of house..wish i was there now, poppadoms like that WIN !!
Thank you Nathan. Thanks for watching!
I'm really enjoying your videos. Especially the Curry reviews (as its my favourite food). Thank you for the great channel.
Hi Stephanie. You'll be delighted to know that curry is one of my favourite foods as well so there will be plenty of them on the channel. What do you go for usually? Thanks for watching!
Great video. I will definitely visit , thank you.
Brilliant stuff. Thanks for watching!
Final video from you tonight that I have the pleasure of watching (will take some time to go through everything...). That looked amazing !! Mark.
Awesome stuff Mark. All the best.
Makes me want to drive the 200miles to eat there...great video 😊
Thanks! 😃 The 200 mile trip would be worth it!
Another enjoyable review Gary, been here twice before and brill all round!
I’m pleased you have eaten here Mike and understand the quality
Still spending most of my downtime watching your reviews and I have to say loving it! Truth is , this is really helping me get my appetite back after a really horrible chemo treatment. Cheers and thanks Gary!
Stephen I really appreciate you going through the catalogue, it means a lot and hope you are getting value from the videos and I really wish your recovery well. Anything I can do, just email me
Another great review. Curry and beer looked amazing. Keep up the good work mate.
Thanks, will do!
Great job, really enjoying this channel. That curry looks soooo much better than my sad dinner lol
Thank you 😋 Get yourself a curry one day this week to make up for it.
Thanks for showing this place Gary, keen to try it now - good to see they’re generous with their chicken in the curry 🔥 cracking review as always!
So nice of you to say!
*Food looked jaw dropping, high quality and presentation superb- outstanding upload 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙌👌*
While in Wimbledon.
Thank you for your very kind words. A lovely establishment. Thanks for watching!

I hope your channel does well. I like down to earth humble people. You seem like a top bloke. Good luck to you and your channel. 😊
Really kind of you Sainy. Thanks 😊
Hi Gary I’ve just found your channel I really enjoyed watching your video and the way you talk about the food so I have now subscribed to your channel looking forward to seeing more content
Thanks Leonard. All the best mate.
Watching all your videos! I'm always looking for new places and I take notice of your reviews.
Happy to hear that!
Looks colourful and fresh Gary, well priced, enjoyed this review 🥘
Thank you kindly and was really good. Thanks for watching!
I'll try this restaurant next time I'm in London. Have tried many others, but Bombay is a must now!
Thanks for an honest and unbiased review. Enjoyed watching.
Give it a go. Thank you Mohammad.
Wow I’m salivating, love Indian food👌
Same, Really good and glad you enjoyed the video!
Another great review Gary and I'm suddenly starving after watching it . The food looked amazing and your review at the end said it all . Beetroot with poppadoms and their own lager is definitely a first for me .
Thanks Kevin. Glad you liked it!
That looked delicious and trusting your experience I’m sure it was. With the beer and service charge I’m guessing around £35 which is very fair indeed. This restaurant looks like it’s got it just right 👌
They got it pretty much spot on. A little less than £35 which I think is reasonable for a top Indian restaurant. Thanks for watching!
And another great video and review, the only way is up for you Gary, and have to say cameraman is spot on with his/her filming 👌🏻
Wow, thank you. 👍 The cameraman is a he and I will pass on your kind words. Thanks for watching!
Ps like your previous comment i only stumbled across you recently so when i have a chance i catch up with previous reviews . All very entertaining to watch ,keep up the good work .
Cheers for taking the time out of your day to go back and watch the previous videos.
Wow great review we are going to go to Wimbledon, and very good prices, hope it stays that way what with such good reviews?
Please do go. Lovely place and the restaurant was excellent. I imagine it will stay that way!
Chicken or prawn madras, pilau rice, sometimes mushroom rice and peshwari naan. !!!!Now ive made myself hungry!😂
Why have you done this to yourself Anne!? Haha. Lovely choice. Thanks for watching!
The presentation was stunning! Given that we "eat with our eyes", first impressions are so important! I have never had Indian food, but I certainly want to try it now! BTW - those sauces looked lovely; beets are one of my favorite veggies, so I would love that sauce.😊❤
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hi Gary. I am new to your channel and I have to say your videos sre great and just the right detail and length. Always honest with your opinion. Keep it going mate😊
That’s very kind to say, Phil thank you very much
Really enjoying the Indian reviews!! My favourite dish is Chicken Tikka Karahi!
Ps - absolutely loving the channel, watched all the videos and really pleased to see some reviews getting loads off views! Well done
Pps - congratulations on not spilling any curry down that lovely white top!
Great stuff Lee! I love Indian food so they'll be plenty more to come on this channel. I've never tried that before, I might have to give it a go. Is it spicy?
PS - Really appreciate your kind words and thank you for watching my videos.
PPS - I've already ruined so many in my life, have to be careful now!
@@GaryEatsNot too hot at all, I’d say same spice as a Balti. Definitely worth a try!
I subscribed after one of your Pie, Mash and Liquor reviews earlier today.
This restaurant in Wimbledon would likely make me travel all the way across London.
Thank you Graham. It’s stunning, give it a go!
Yum! Lots of great veggie options as I'd expect from Indian food. The okra looked fantastic. I also loved the decor. I'd absolutely go there if I get a chance.
This was outstanding, I’m going to do a full vegetarian Indian meal with an actual Indian chef very soon, but don’t tell anyone lol 😂
@@GaryEats LOL your secret's safe with me and everyone else that might read your comment 😄
Out standing food looks perfect yum yum yum 😋😋
Beautiful wasn't it?
Absolutely stunning glad you enjoyed it pal. Keep up the good work, hard job but someone has to do it.😂❤
Tell me about it Graham haha, how I suffer eh! All the best mate.
Incredible chap...looked great 👌👌 Greetings from Portugal
Hello Portugal. Went there a few years ago, beautiful place. Thanks for watching!
That food looked exceptional Gary. I love trying the chutneys at an Indian restaurant but have never seen a beetroot one. The price was very good indeed considering the location👍
Very very nice, Sheila. Love chutney as well. Thanks for watching!
That looked so nice . . One of the few ive seen for value and quality .
Love the Wombles on the shelf . . Nice touch
Take care . Bye from NZ🍻👍🇳🇿twa
This was exceptionally good Roger
Tell you what Gary, you work hard at this. So many quality review videos. Shout out to your camera man. Quality!!

Haha just the once is fine. More than appreciated :)
🌜🦋🦋 another great vid mate, food looked very nice 🦋🦋🌛
Thank you mate. Cheers for subbing as well :)
Another lovely review
Thanks Gary! Another Curry (I apologise).
Wow, everything looks exceptional/another level there - makes a change from the stuffy, closed in atmosphere of most. Good value too for a restaurant of that type in London
Agreed, a lovely interior with lovely food. Thanks for watching!
Gary ... if your not at 100k well before the end of 2024 mate, I'm Winston Churchill ... What a truly superb meal that was ! ... a true UA-cam star for the future, without doubt ... pleasant, honest, fair and very polite, nice one pal.
Wow, thanks. That’s incredibly kind of you to say 👍🏼
Incredible looking curry gary fantastic review again
Thanks Richard!
One thing about the 'chutney tray' which looked delicious btw. I'd miss the chopped onions with mint sauce / tomato ketchup. I love the crunch with a bit of mango.
Those white crispy things were a first for me. Enjoying British Indian Restaurant cuisine since the early 70s
Haven't seen them before and I wish I would have asked what the difference was. Thanks for watching!
@@GaryEats That one was made of puffed rice.
What a gorgeous looking place, chalk and cheese from that other venue as far as service and the bill was concerned! If only I didn't live a hundred miles away, certainly worth a visit! Great video!
Beautiful restaurant and stunning. Something I forgot to note was the smell of the restaurant as well, lovely aroma. Thanks for watching!
Talking of smell, about 55 years ago I had an Indian friend from school who used to invite me to his home for tea, walking into that houses foyer, bombarded the senses, the smell was out of this world, his mother had laid out what to my 12 year old eyes, looked like a banquet, everything looked beautiful and tasted even better. I went to tea quite often, and learnt so much about Indian cuisine and spices, so when I was older and going to restaurants I knew exactly what to ask for, and knew if I had been given the wrong thing. I do miss that lovely ladies cooking even today! @@GaryEats
Merry Christmas Gary to you & the family.Top reviewer in my book.Have a few for the New Year & the phaal awaits 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶🥵
Have a great Christmas, Barrie!
Looked good. I will check it out!
Please do and thanks for watching!
Sorry Gary, late to the party tonight, was out with the wife having a few pints and a a great meal at the Ritz. But a fab video as usual and a place I never heard about, so you'd bet, we will be going there very soon! Keep up the fab work, mate! 👌😍
Hi again. Thanks for commenting as always. Hope you had a great meal with your wife and enjoy your weekend. Really hope you can go along and give it a try! Thank you!
P.S. Might be going to the Ritz soon for a future video to try out there breakfast. What do you think?
@@GaryEats the breakfast was amazing but expensive, but I went for a breakfast a couple of years ago, it was very nice. But I can't vouch for the breakfast today, mate! ❤️
Gary, Bombay Delight looks amazing, I showed your video to my mother in law. She went yesterday and loved the food, and she shared the pictures it lookes incredible (prawn dish and gnocchi lentils was unique). Thanks for stunning review and making me jealous for missing out on the meal.
Get Clays in Reading on your list, Hyderabad food.
That’s absolutely fantastic to hear thank you and mum 👌 I’ll definitely take a look at the recommendation
Looks lovely and value for money portions decent sizes to
Yep! Excellent food Matthew.
So glad you had a very good experience, especially after Brick Lane shenanigans !
Curry is the perfect food during the Autumn season
Curry is the perfect food all year round* haha. Thanks for watching!
Gary, location looked ok.The restaurant seemed bright, crisp, clean😊All good. Not sure about the "pink"sauce. A darker shade of red perhaps? But have never seen a beetroot dip😢Mixed poppadoms looked brilliant ! The curry a fair price, boiled rice fluffy. The side of okra i thought a bit high. Not that you leave any of the good food, and to honest not a lot of the below par food either. But what about a doggie bag for C.T.P😮'Til the next one Cheers 🥂 Allan&Family
Hi Allan. Lovely location and the restaurant interior was beautiful. The beetroot was a rare one, not seen it myself before but a welcome interest! Poppadoms were lovely and quite the surprise. No doggie bag for C.T.P, he actually tried a bit after! Thanks for watching and have a good weekend.
Nice one Gary - poppadoms looked great! 👍😁
Yes John. Thanks for watching!

Really enjoying your videos 😊👍
Thank you Ashley! 😊
Great Indian Gary! Not too expensive and the pint looked decent too. I would have enjoyed some lime pickle with the Poppadoms:)
Was a lovely place. Pint was good. Lime pickle is nice, surprised how different the poppadoms were. Thanks for watching!
Love your channel.... The Vine and Spice, in Long Wittenham, Oxfordshire, has amazing Indian food. I would love to see you review it
Noted! Thank you :)
Ahhh the Bombay Delight, we've been there as a family many times, never had a bad meal
Lovely stuff! I'm glad you enjoy it there as I did too. Thanks!
Great to see you in my hometown Wimbledon, Gary! You always give very clear, accurate and informative reviews, so thank you!
Haven't actually tried this place so will be sure to "give it a go!" May I ask what the name of the track which came on at 9:52? Also, can I recommend the '3KOBROS' Korean restaurant in the Isle of Dogs!
Love Wimbledon. I will try an find out for you but I'm not sure I have it anymore
Will go looks great place 😮
Once again a very good review; well filmed with your excellent description. If the good burgers of Surrey watch this review there will be fewer empty chairs next time you go. Am I old fashioned - IPA with Indian?
Thanks my friend (sorry, I don't know your name)! What do you mean by IPA?
Philip - you are very welcome to use it! I think I am showing my age with IPA - it was used by our breweries for their special beer exported to India, in the days when we had an empire - very very good with curry - Indian Pale Ale.@@GaryEats
Thank you Philip. Ah, thanks for the info!
Gary ALL an I mean ALL of that dish looks perfect. Yummy.
So good Martin. Highly recommend!
Again 9am, best Indian we have ever seen, every thing you have said we agree with, will have to stop looking so early in the morning, 10 doesn't seem enough.Come again so we can see more. Sheila & Patrick.
Will do. Take care both of you.
Gary try city spice in brick Lane as well you will love it

Thst looked like a religious experience, even visually I could tell it was well above anything I ever got whether in Bradford Birmingham or Dublin....I might just head over for a few days and visit some of the top restaurants you've reviewed.
Reckon I'd have to be rolled back on the plane to Dublin.
It's an extremely relaxing restaurant. Something I forgot to mention as well was the smell of the restaurant which was very nice. All round, an extremely pleasant experience. Please do head over from Dublin and enjoy!
