I did ONE playthrough and I didnt even want to finish the campaign. Its so bad. Honestly I'd rather do a Warhammer 2 Vortex over this.

Can't tell ya how much of a let down it was to get a demon as an end-game reward when paying as Cathay, rather than... you know.. the sister I was supposedly looking for the entire time... The Cathay plot has absolutely no conclusion.

Yeah, CA want to do a lot more with the Cathay Plotline, hopefully the DLC Cathay is a lot better
You know the biggest complaint that people had with W2 was the whole "race" thing for the Vortex.
Why bring it back? Why not just keep it mostly sandbox, but YOUR faction has the chance for the Ursun thing. Make it really difficult but if you do get it it either A. Ends the campaign or B. gives you massive boths but puts all remaining factions against you to end your power.
Or just let you choose narrative/sandbox when you load up a new campaign. Literally could of just been a toggle like difficulty.

Chaos invasion can be toggled off, but an instadefeat screen for Vortex cant. Sounds legit.
From the new and missing units in the rosters, I'm going to guess a few things. Nurgle has plague toads which were a forge world unit, meaning that they weren't an official unit from their roster. So I'd say we can expect to see a lot more then the official rosters. Chaos God blessed Beastmen because the Khorne roster has minotaurs. Chosen human units of Chaos gods, because Nurgle, Tzeentch and Slaanesh are all missing Chosen units. Terracotta warriors, monkey warriors and giant turtles for Cathey. Chaos Dwarfs will most likely be the first race pack, followed by Southern Realms. Unit packs will include Norsca and Warriors of Chaos, The Empire, Dwarfs, High Elves, Vampire Counts, Greenskins and Skaven. These factions are all missing "endgame" like units like the flying dwarf warship, The Empire's landship, the giant eagle bolt thrower sky artillery for High Elves, Greenskin's giant squig and Skaven demons. I'm also looking forward to seeing possible factions like Ind, Araby and Khuresh'll be able to make it into the game as race packs.
That build-up to BFG Division left me the most blue-balled I've ever been...

as sad as this is i agree 100% i just wanna conquer the map and not be forced into a race, even the vortex thing from warhammer 2 was way more chill then this
From everything I’ve seen from early access is CA really doesn’t want to make game fun by giving factions strong faction wide bonuses. Which is extremely weird cause the way I saw it, warhammer was really fun because of those buffs.
Well Skrag and Scarbrand have insane factionwide bonuses, but yeah, I don't get why Belakor doesn't do more...
@@gamingrambles agreed, no incentive to try different races for different bonus effects and how they interact and make your campaign different.
@@germanverner6501 all 4 of the chaos gods have pretty unique campaign mechanics. I haven’t played other factions yet but I imagine they are the same
@@kye4216 I’ll come back to you once I played the game. Was more thinking alongside defeat one of the gods and once you gained their soul you get some buff or some way to show in your campaign that you did it. For vortex when I had economy and public order issues I’d start vortex missions since they give you 10 turns of reduced upkeep and public order bonuses. Need to play to say for certain. Right now it’s what I feel from watching streams and vids.

Everything I've heard from this and from other reviews has vindicated my decision to wait to buy the game. It was the same with Warhammer II. Two years down the road, with plenty of updates and DLC, the game was (and still is) amazing...but I wouldn't have wanted to play it on release.

My thought was that the Advisor went to all the factions and convinced them all to get to Urson. He's basically hedging his bets so that no matter who gets to Urson the Advisor will get the drop of blood that he wants.
I don't think that it's a plot hole, but I could see how someone who hasn't seen all of the intros could be confused.
yeah, multiple characters confirm he is a servant of Tzeentch, but that still doesn't explain how he's talking to EVERY faction. Like if he told me this information, I would keep that man on house arrest or by my side until I had Urson
On a side note he also offers you the ability to body block and fight the faction that acquires all the demon souls from getting to Belakor and Ursun for X amount of turns until they can try again if you win the battle. So in essence if he is talking to everyone for the objective of getting the blood. Why would he then turn around and prevent one faction from winning over the other if he more or less achieves his goal and the factions will give him a drop of blood? Its such a weird plot conundrum, unless the explanation is he grew a conscious and realized "I shouldn't have asked literal and malicious demons to help me with preventing apocalyptical stuff."

Good to see. I watched Mandalore review before this one i decided to wait until Mortal Empires come out.
Don't get me wrong, the game is good. As long as they patch the bugs and make a decent campaign map, mortal empires will be awesome. I'm really just upset with the storyline
Legend has the exact same opinion as you concerning the campain. I don't think you are the outlyer on this, i think there really is a problem with the chaos realms/story line
I try not to complain about something without providing a solution, so hopefully CA make at least one of those changes I suggested
THis game feels weird. I mean I like it, but there is a giant disconnect between how the factions play and what the campaign objective is. This race mechanic takes you completely out of your murderfrenzyrampageballstothewall Skarbrand move. Sure it works for the Demons of CHaos and somewhat Kislev, since they also have the most relevant story for it.
But for the other factions? Yikes. It's a cool idea, but seriously kills the total war gameplay.
Keep in mind, dlc's are coming. Warhammer 3 is a partial game, not complete yet. You can see it in the design and the dlc's will fit right in, like missing pizza slices of a whole pizza.

*As you can see, you miss out on knowing how serious life is, as the world and its anti-life ways has taught to mankind, the suffering that occurs from Children in aging/aged bodies self-Governing one's self and through Governments of Governing a creation through/by.
Worst thing for me is the negative traits you get. I went into the circle of Slannesh and got a negative modifier "seeing delusions" or something like that which resulted in my Legendary lord getting -20 public order and -10 control, forever. Worst part is I don't have access to the "protect building" that helps get rid of it cause it can only be built in a provincial capital. Its such a cancerous element. I have to go through the realms for 5-6 terms to get to the objective by default yet I'm punished for that little amount of time? Ontop of that it literally for a good chunk of these realms is "Who is first in" If your 1 layer apart from the slannesh realm as opposed to another faction, you already lost unless you get lucky and they go braindead for some reason.

Agree I finished my first campaign around turn 100. Felt rushed to grab a soul every time a portal opened. Hopefully they change something in the future. In the meantime will set the game to easy and smash out the campaigns for the cinematics book

Agree fully with the critic of the campaign. I find it so frustrating and seeing your arguments and suggestions for change I realize that those are the exact same issues I am having with the campaign and I think the solutions you suggested would fix it for me as well.

i ll wait for mortal empires, i think it will fix a lot of issues. it was the same for tw 1 and tw 2. I completely agree with you thats its a bad idea to use a race as a campaign mechanic. I think the most fun of total war is the random pace the game creates, so you never know when the shit is on fire and everytime when you think you are at a safe point and can just relax, the next major problem comes around the corner and im like ... fuck thats finally the end you never gonna make it.

Lol, I appreciate it man. I'm definitely not a saint. I almost included an affiliate link in this video, but I was worried the sale would end by the time I released the video, and I don't think this game is worth full price. Since I made this vid, Ive grown even more frustrated with walled sieges, and the general derpiness of this game.

I see that a lot of people have performance problems and bugs. The only problem I had was an achievement bug that crashed my game, but I just reloaded and skipped a turn that fixed it. It runs fantastic for me, even better than tww2 for me. And I like the dive into chaos realms. You know its spawns every 30 turns, so you just plan around it and prepare for it. Have tons of agents ready to close the portals and send your main dude or Girl to get the soul. You shouldn't be losing it. Just look at the faction that is your competition either wait until they go in first, then just attack them inside, so you have all the time in the world to get it done. It looks to me that the Slannech rewards are random. As for me, sometimes I get a really good one and a really bad one. I usually save up on Slaanesh one because if you are ahead of the other factions, you can use the buffs she offers to get really powerful. I 100% agree that you don't really get anything for winning the story to help you beat the long victory. I feel that some factions like Slaanesh, Ursun Revivalists (AKA the mighty and strong Boris Ursus), and Grand Cathay needs a relook to make them more fun to play and fresh. Other than that, all it needs is some polishing, more units, and unit skins to make them more unique per faction. Remember, it's okay, and you should be open with your feelings and opinions, but extreme negativity only kills games that could have become a lot better if just given a chance. This game is 100% worth your money and time, and I believe it will only become better and better with time. Even if CA messes up, we have our lovely mod community to fix it until CA does.
I expected kairos be a bad bird and already knew hes going for ursun .. but I didn’t expect the whole earth population had a ability of seeing past and present and future too ? Like how .. kislev already is collecting the last soul without going to the finish line of nurgle’s realm? I agree with this .. cuz is literally the truth

It's like some people at CA don't get that what makes one of the core enjoyable things about a fantasy game is a "power fantasy". So yes balance, but nerfing magic, defeat traits and making the chaos mechanic so infuriating is exactly the opposite.

First two campaigns I played as Daemons of Chaos or whatever Undivided is called. First game I got creamed because the entire order tide was on my doorstep like turn 10. Second game I got lucky and the order factions just sort of...wiped each other out. Not quite sure what happened, but the Wood Elves weren't sending two grandstacks of high end archers at my starting melee army anymore. Played a pretty easy campaign using a mix of every overpowered chaos unit after that. Third game I started Kislev, hit the first roar, and realized my army literally just wasn't strong enough to do any of the chaos realms due to garbage tier early units getting stomped by everyone else and constant campaign battles on the overworld map on all fronts. Stopped playing that trash and started Cathay. Got about two souls in, stopped playing for the night, and never felt the urge to go back. That's been my Warhammer 3 experience. Just couldn't keep going after one full clear.
One minor thing I like about the blood host armies that Skarbrand's faction has. The lord unit has a bodyguard. I wish that was how it should have been from day one when it came to single entity units that were infantry. Some large units being on their own I accept like Kholek or Skarbrand. However characters like Karl Franz or Thorgrim Grudgebearer, surely they would have their own units of guards at all times, especially in a fight.
dont forget the ogre kingdoms bug where meat is not produced at all
I beat it once on legendary, and I won't be playing the game again at all until either A) Mortal Empires or B) Massive changes to how the campaign works as a whole.
I've had some ridiculous bugs in both battles and on the campaign map already while playing the game, I just really hope (but don't expect) that most or at least a significant amount of these bugs will be fixed before they start peddling DLCs, because at the moment it feels like I've paid alot for a game that sometimes feels about as polished as an early access game.

First of all, I want to thank you for subscribing to my channel. Don't even know how you found it :D Second, I agree with your review so so much! There might have been a little too much frustration and complaining, but I completely understand. I hope CA makes some adjustments and makes the campaign more fun, and also adds more replayability. The rosters are indeed small, and DLC will be a'plenty ;D I am having a fun time with my first playthrough as Kislev, even though it is considerably harder than WH2 ever was!
Yeah CA did an amazing job with some aspects of this game, but awful with others. Has potential, but not worth more than one campaign in its current state.

Honestly, since i downloaded the .pak data that turns off the race and makes it a snowball experience i am having way more fun with it currently.
I think that Belakor being the reward for all factions is just downright stupid. Sure, the Chaos factions would be cool with that, but the other factions would just kill the bastard. Or, in the case of the ogres, feed him to the Maw. You're telling me I should trudge through all that BS just to get a reward that I, nor the people I'm playing as, don't want? Hell no! I'm gonna go play Rome II, because that game is actually fun.
as i grabbed myself a copy, i planed to only do slaneshs realm to get some strong seduction powers. then as the time came to enter the realm i found myself later on the bottom of the pit, still untempted and disgusted from all the weak offers. i thought the final offer atleas will be something mediocre. but it was the weakest of all.
looking back at all the nerfed offers i would pick the all recruited lords will be lvl 20 for a few rounds and then stack up on them immortal lords.
edit: they changed the lvl 20 lord boon to lvl 10.
best boon for me now is the +200 growth per 15 rounds early in the game to get the tier 5 units fast.
They fucked it up. No mortal empires = Not a single broken cent from me.
Well, WH2 launched this way too. I think they'll stay true to their word and bring mortal empires to game 3 sometime this year

umm, they definitely won't listen to me, I don't think they'll listen to Legend either, but they're still accountable to their customers. If enough people are really upset with it, they might tweak the mechanics a little.

Any tips for tzeentch? Saw how long my replenishment was and decided it was not gonna be fun to wait until it was somewhat bearable and sitting in settlements forever, wanted to know if its like that for the whole campaign.
I just played until the second soul with tzeench, I think atm you can only play Kairos without autoresolve. Since in real battle you take all ways your units back, that lost their ward and fire spells as much as you can. Than build chaos knights, doom knights and your main army should be fine. For me I didn't bother to much fighting Cathay and let the chaos warrior factions deal with Cathay and went left now killing kugath. Problem for me to come is the realm of nurgle 😅
A simple fix of only you going to the chaos realms would fix so much like I could take my time and when I’m finically and military reading do the narrative quest not just forcing me to get the souls :(
So I am not the only one who felt the nerv of magic. Pretty said about that. Since that was my favorite way playing like any faction casting lots of spells, and now that's quite hindered with the power reserve cap at 100. 😣

From what I’ve seen I’ll pick it up when they fix somethings. Me personally all the races I enjoyed in wh2 are skaven tomb kings and sisters so I’ll probably wait a bit test out the campaign then run ME

I decided not to watch the realms of chaos part of your review until after I am done with it...
The only reason I am not regretting that decision right now, given the fact you are right about everything, is that I also decided to try it with the ogres and on Normal difficulty.

Im really disappointed with 3,the minor settlement battles are tedious,im tired of them already and you cant autoresolve because you will lose units in early and mid game,there needs to be an option to turn off minor settelment battles imo,the campaign map feels disjointed,i will jump back into it when mortal empires comes out.

WH2 is a much better game, but the mortal empires experience is really where it's at. Unfortunately Mortal Empires is still not available for game 3 and to play ME with game 2 you also need game 1. Personally, I would wait until the games are on sale (sometimes 3rd party sites like Fanatical have great deals for these games)
Folks like Adeptus Ridiculous and Majorkill should play Total Warhammer 3
Yea I really don't like the campaign structure.. I hate that I feel rushed all the time.. rushed to do the same thing every faction has to do, and as such takes away from what I'm trying to do as my chosen faction.. it's annoying and it's samey... And you are absolutely right about the campaign movement thing.. I was so relieved when I could actually get to move after a portal by using khorne's "summon an army to fight" mechanic..
But yea.. having beaten the campaign as Cathay, which was an okay experience, I dread having to do the campaign again,

Is the Chaos realms terrible? Yes. Is the game buggy? Yes. But I am a sucker for BDSM and getting fucked by CA so nothing is stopping me from spending my life savings for this game :P

They did so much right with this game but the problems are big yet obvious. Honestly I have high hopes these issues are resolved and when Immortal Empires comes around we have an improved version of an already great game.
I hate is that there is no way to prevent rifts from appearing, either meaning that my province is coruppted -30 and free siege in a middle of my empire, or I have to run my agents all over the place to spend 1500 to close that leak. No, I'm not gonna run my armies all over the goddamn place fo this nuisance, it's above their paycheck, given the supply lines. And for the love of god, give some substantian rewards for each realm, Khorne and Slanesh did it decently. I actually like those long battles, especially with all those upgrades

Well lore wise you can consider it a "boon" that the gods give their daemon, even the daemons themselves also get jerked around by the gods.

Can't tell you how much I have having to rush or the only winning strat is to be a conqueror.
Havnt played the game yet but the way I see it is that a giant bear screaming to make the sun shine would be a thing incorporated into all surrounding culture's lore and not just your own. Everyone would notice it has been missing for 7 years and secrets are difficult to keep so if one faction found out where it is and then a simple rumour will get everyone to search or find out where it is. From there depending on the cultural lore theylle all want to find the bear thing for their own purposes.

hello to one of my favorite UA-camrs thank you so much for the review actually i need to talk about something about the main camping right now you see ca did the same job as warhammer 2 vortex camping i think it has 2 reasons: they need to fit a story in the game because you know new rosters new factions so they need something to introduce themselves and that's the story this is not a bad thing at all but the progress of making it enjoyable is not good at all as you said and others said about chaos realms and achievements of it i think ca said to himself that ok vortex was a mess but chaos stories khorne blood... This is gonna hype everything but Sadly just on paper. The second thing that is the problem of all warhammer 2 and 3 is that the main camping feels like a prototype for mortal empires like ok players give us your money play the game that is not completely ready and fight with each other about this game being good or bad and after years the game becomes fully optimized and ready but for more enjoyable experience give us $$ for dlc packs. Ca should reconsider this policy.
Yeah, I know this story can be a lot better. I hope they change it. I don't really mind CA's business model, it's incredibly tame next to Blizzard and Epic Games, but it's not perfect. The easiest way to ensure you don't waste your money, is to wait until the game is fully patched before buying

yeah all the bugs I showed you occurred across about 20-40 hours of gameplay. Hopefully the bugs rarely occur or most of the egrecious ones are patched soon. Right now, they're prioritizing the game breaking ones that literally crash the game
@@gamingrambles Fingers crossed. The game has a 60% on steam and that is honestly pretty sad...since I'd say the bugs don't stop it from being pretty damn fun otherwise. Grand Cathay, for instance, has really cool mechanics that I personally love. I think once Immortal Empires gets in it'll be an easy sale to some of my friends.
@@KaitoGillscale that's just cuz the game is getting review bombed in China, and most of that has to do with how the game was promoted. I would ignore that rating.
What annoyed me a bit aside from Chaos Realms being the race, is that the portals always spawned at same place. With my Ursun clean up militia was literally spawncamping 3 or 4 portals to have that head start and then cleaned up the rest while I was with my main character hunting for that prince soul. Homeland was most of the time clean off the corruption and portals in 4-6 turns while AI did struggle with some of those daemon waves...
And one more thing, the Kislev Kossars units are honestly OP for tier one unit, I won such a battles with stacking the crapload of them overlaping each others line of fire that it shouldnt be possible. I won battles especially against Ogres, in which ogres even when despite playing agressive they failed.
My biggest issue with 3 is that I simply just didn’t have much of a desire to play any of the factions outside of Ogres and Nurgle. When I see the other factions I don’t think it would be all that interesting to play as them. Instead I’m far more interested in firing warp lighting or just hordes of boys at them. It a definite pass at least until moral empires for me.
I literally got sad playing the game, thinking about how badly I wanted to fight Chaos as the older factions
You probably already have found out but circle of paramountcy (global recruitment duration - 1) has a time-limited as well as an uncapped version.

I absolutely HATE the rifts, they debuff your control enough that you will lose a region with 100 control by the time the portal despawns and the demon armies that spawn from it get so strong, that you literally have to withhold your entire military if you don't want to lose a massive chunk of your territory that is supposed to be in a safe region. The entire rift mechanic completely crilples your world map progress and by the time you have recovered from the damages the next rift opens. This gets worse the more the game progresses. I have played with almost all major factions so far but by turn 100 I usually just quit because the game became too frustrating.
Im empire main in wh1 and wh 2, and seeing karl franz got defeated by skraag at turn 50, man it makes me sad
It's the Vortex race all over again. I hoped CA would learn from the previous game, but apparently someone up there really thinks that stopping players' snowball in the late game should be a priority above all else.
'Hey, what can we do to stop snowballing?'
'I have an idea. Let's force players to commit their main doomstack for 8 turns, while giving their legendary lords some negative traits in the process. And it has to be a race, of course, so under no circumstances the player could do it at their own preferred pace.'

I super agree with this review, I was enjoying a great VH/VH campaign playthrough, then the portals opened, and completely broke my campaign. I can only afford 1 and a half stacks and ive gotta have my main stack dissappear for 10 turns while my enemies assault from every angle?! Get outta here!
Dude i am so happy that i am not the only one who hated the race in the campaign. I have been forced to quite about 3 deferent attempts due to how much I have to neglect the mortal realm to get those fucking souls. It sucks

After you complete a campaign and get belakor, the rifts continue to open giving the other factions chances to get the souls they need. If they collect all souls and finish do you still lose the campaign even if you already finished them?

I agree with the complaint on the campaign, but in warhammer II I played the vortex just twice and then I spent hundreds of hours on the mortal empire campaign (the true selling point of the saga), so I'm not too concerned about that. The one big complaint for me is the "tower defense" feeling they added to minor settlements and siege maps. I'm just waiting for someone who's going to mod that shit out of the game.
