  • This is about our Eureka Spire LX, a two-burner camping stove that we bought online. What do we like about it? What do we dislike about it? What do we think needs to be changed? Join us as we answer these questions and more in our review!
This is a re-edited version of a previous video, only made a little shorter. We cleaned up a few slow moments and will be posting a video showing the stove in use soon.

Thanks for the review. This stove came recommended to me and the reviews on Amazon tend to say the burners are adjustable. But your review says otherwise and some of the Amazon reviews agree with your review. I am trying to replace a propane Coleman grill and it is nearly impossible to adjust as well. Seems I may have to keep looking but I am running out of options.

Hey Y'all just got my spire LX and fired it up. I DID NOT EXPERIENCE ANY DIFFICULTY IN SIMMER CONTROL, QUITE THE OPPOSITE. Was able to get both the right and left sides flames even and also was ably to turn the burner down so low that I could barely see it. The flame goes both much higher and much lower than the coleman classic propane It will be replacing. Hopefully you are out expeditioning. I haven't yet cooked on it just a quick indoor test. The diameter of the burners looks about the same as my old camp stove, so I'd imagine the heat distribution will be similar. Update when your not expeditioning if you were using a large tank, I tested with a standard small bottle. I also purchased the AUX Jetboil burner Luna "sideburner" It's just it has a very similar concentrated flame to a standard Butane Jetboil. Best just for heating liquids.

wyocoyote wyocoyote That is great that yours works correctly. We had the same results with the large and small bottles. I definitely like the larger bottle though. We store it in our Trasharoo. Also we found it did start to rattle a bit, so we store our cloth pot holders in the stove when we transport it. Now it is quiet. Still glad we got the bag. Thanks for your comment!

Where did you get the carry bag? Eureka doesn’t sell any.

If you decide to upgrade you should look into the Blackstone tabletop griddle.

Thats neat, wish the criddle top came off for other types of cooking. looks like the ideal pancake maker.

Whoa, thanks for the review! Just ordered the LX largely because of purported good simmer control ( and other bells and whistles)........ but you say nay to good simmer, and that the flame spread is also hot spot causing? Bummer. The Coleman stoves with similar "HyperFlame" jet burners got universally poor reviews when it came to flame control and flame spread. Most reviews said they burned everything except h2o. Bummed to hear the right burner isn't as easily adjustable as left wonder why. I'll test mine B4 the return period is up. Wanted something that would do better in wind and be more efficient and would accomodate larger cookware ( I read the LX takes larger cookware than the Spire) than my old simple two burner propane Coleman classic. It also appeals to me that the back comes off of the Spire LX( It does check this review: ua-cam.com/video/YuqUAAcpDI4/v-deo.html ) for when conditions are right and you have a larger pot, also nice to have levelling feet. Appealing is being able "daisy chain" SOME of the Jetboil stuff and use my flux ring cookware but avoid the pricier iso butane cans while at a base camp. I certainly want to be able to a full size griddle like yourselves. Question: You were testing with a large propane tank, correct? Often stoves get a lot more btus from the large 20Lb tanks vs the small "disposable" ones. Might relate to simmer control. Overlanding you don't want to pack much excess gear, and I too pack cast iron; however, you may want to try one of those simmer ring heat diffuser thingys or two. I have one that folds. I will edit or respond to my post when I get mine fired up in the next few days. I hope the ignitor works well, never worked on my Jetboil. From your review looks like you'd be better off with an older style two burner (non jet tech) stove? I get near the same even heat with those ( be it Coleman or Optimus or......you name it) as I do with my home gas range.
