  • In todays video I will fix the stuck quill. There were two problems I had to solve. But it was easier than I thought and now the quill moves very smooth again. I'm very happy, that this fix was so easy. I was a little bit nervous that it could be much more difficult to get the quill working correctly again.
I hope you liked the video. If that's the case don't forget to like and subscribe.

When they made that drill press they wasn't foolin around. That's a serious piece of mechinery right there, made to last for generations.

I saw the last piece you made for Martin. It was a real beauty.I love to do tinkering with things like this. Great to have found the problem. The quill drive is a whole different job but you can do it my friend.

Great video! I really liked that part where there were 2 pairs of hands, it confused me for a bit. Also, this drill looks older than me

OLD (00:00 in the 1st vid) Built A.D. 1967😲 ...last millenium, survived the end of the GDR, and transfiguration of it's birthplace (called Chemnitz now)😎

Interesting idea with the precise sanding - my initial reaction would be to hammer it back into shape from the inside. :) If the English videos take too much effort, consider just writing English subtitles for your German videos, that would be plenty enough IMHO and allow you to subtitle even your older videos without re-making them.

It's ok for me to make 2 complete videos. That also helps me to practice my English :)

Hey Alex with such a stout drill press, can you do metal milling work with it??

      Hi,
that would not work. The clamping oh the head to the table is absolutely not suited to take sideways forces. And also the quill has some play. That is no problem when drilling but with milling that won't be good.

Alex CNC en Thank you very much for answering; I was about to get a drill press similar to yours, I’m in search for a milling machine but they’re too expensive, I thought a drill press like this could do sone milling.
Thank you again, I guess I’ll keep saving for a real milling machine!
