I have been watching videos about Wayne for a long time. I feel blessed to be able to watch him and hear his guitar picking. I would love to have one of his guitars. Thank you for sharing your video.
I met Doc Watson when I was about 15 years old....I did a radio interview with him for a radio station in mountain City Tennessee (wmct).....I play guitar and took it with me....Doc played a couple tunes and I played rhythm......he told me he wired his house in Deep Gap....he had many talents...the best was treating a 15 year old kid with the memory of a lifetime......Wayne was a lucky man to have such a friend.....
I as a blind man have always looked up to Doc and he teaches me I can learn whatever I want too. Thank you Doc for giving us other blind folks an example to be proud of!
Crummy? That crummy guitar was handmade by the guy playing it. A Henderson guitar. He holds a guitar pickin' contest every year and the winner gets a guitar that Wayne made by hand. Henderson guitars are certainly not the most expensive hand-made acoustic guitars. At about $5,000 (plus or minus) when new, their price pales in comparison to some other small-luthier-built guitars. They are not even the most well-known; but Eric Clapton owns one, and so does Tommy Emmanuel, Peter Rowan and Grammy winner Gillian Welch. Doc Watson played his often. Used Hendersons have sold privately for as much as $100,000 and sell regularly at auction in the $20,000-plus range. There is a 10-year waiting list to get one from the manufacturer. If orders for the guitars keep coming in at the current rate, and Wayne Henderson lives long enough to fill them, he may just live forever.
Hahaha, you're giving guitar advice to Wayne Henderson? Yeah, he don't sell for much more than $5K direct to customers, but they have been re-sold for up to$30K. How much do yours go for, bud?
oh my ... you didn't just go there ... as my Uncle Fern would say ... better to say nothin' and let everybody think you is smart than to open your mouth and tell everybody you a jackass.
I’ll tell you how great his guitars are, I was watching a show on PBS and they were doing bluegrass and I remember there were 4 guitarist on stage taking turns playing leads, I don’t remember who the player was now but I remember his guitar because it put all the others to shame, I looked up what guitar he plays and there was a big article about him getting his Wayne Henderson custom. I have no business owning one because I couldn’t justify taking one away from a real player.

NOTE: Wayne Henderson is a renowned studio guitarist. If he thinks it's good, it' probably damned good.

@@captivethoughts1745 Oh come on, how good can it be he makes half of it with his pocket knife.
@@SuperOlds88 How about Eric Clapton and Tommy Emanuel for owners. Guess those guys don't know squat about guitars, eh?
@@captivethoughts1745 You would think that luthier could afford read luthier tools instead of a pocket knife, eh?
@@SuperOlds88 You make one then. All the best tools in the world and you'll never touch what this guy makes.
Next time you change the strings on that guitar rub the fret board and bridge down good with some lemon oil then buff it dry.
